Um, Billy. I know you are busy and all but if you wouldn’t mind running outside to greet me with a handful of candy everytime I see you, I would greatly appreciate it.
Doesn’t it get any more welcoming than sugar and the biggest smile in the world?
Once again Billy chose our future (aka LSAT prep class) over doing cool things like trecking through the orchard to a block party and seeing how many lbs of cotton candy one can eat in a thirty minute time span (just in case you are wondering, I set a new record of 6 sticks full).
It isn’t bad to have dessert twice in one night as long as you eat dinner any between. Individualized pie’s cuteness is right up there with dogs dressed up in human clothes, baby otters and panda bears.
And for dinner….hamburger, fresh fruit, side salady things and salad. Good thing my food was literally overflowing off of my plate.
Cotton candy really does fill in the cracks.
I was able to meet a blog reader too….HEY MADI!!! She only has 3 weeks left until she gets her boot off….she broke her foot and is itching to get back to playing tennis and running!!
I was reunited with my long lost best friend. I worked for this woman for a long time…..aka work=hang out all day together, doing errands, going to lunch at cool Thai restaurants and hanging out with her coolest kids…….Hey, can I come back and ‘work’ even if your kids are all grown up now?
And the moment the kiddos have all been waiting for weeks for……..
Glow stick bike parade 2011.
I stayed up way past my bedtime but how could I leave the bright lights, giggling children (okay, giggling Janae due to overdosing on glucose) and tables of dessert before the party ended?
Have you ever broken any bones? How?
-I broke my arm when I was racing my brother that was driving a car while I was on rollerblades. I think you know how I get a little competitive and I really thought I could win….that is until I heard a loud crack, snapple and pop of my right arm.
What do you think the CUTEST baby animals are?
Favorite type of burger? Black bean, veggie, beef, chicken, portobello mushroom, salmon, am I missing anything?
-I love terryaki chicken burgers with a big ol’ ring of pineapple on there!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey
Weee I’m one of the first commenters this morning! I think the cutest baby animals are puppies BY FAR! Love you – have a great day!
Not actually, unless you count a confirmed stress fracture in one leg and a possible stress fracture in the other. Both a result of trying to increase my pace too quickly.
UM YES, you forgot one. TURKEY burger. With guacamole!
Cutest baby animal: they are all cute. Kittens, Panda’s, cheetah’s. Anything you can watch on a zoo webcam really.
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food
What a fun night! So awesome how much time you get to spend with family :D
I am a huge fan of veggie burgers. Not rice or soy but real veggie burgers :D
And the glo-stick parade looks AWESOME. We are doing a glow in the dark 5k in a couple of weeks!
The Kidless Kronicles
Wag More, Bark….
That glowstick ride looks like so much fun!!! I would stay around and giggle and skip early bedtime for that much fun!
What a fun evening you had! Totally worth any sleepiness that may occur today!! :)
I’ve broken 2 bones in my life. My right and left thumb. When my cast was take off of my right thumb, I broke my left thumb two weeks later! Very silly!!
I’m a sucker for newborn puppies!! :)
I’m loving these vegetable masala burgers w/Indian spices that I recently purchased from Trader Joe’s! Soo good. I also really enjoy Carl Jr’s teriyaki turkey burgers!!
Have a happy Thursday my friend!! :) xo Miss ya!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes
I have a thing for baby monkeys , especially the baby orangutan. Google it for sure, it seriously makes me giggle. I love any type of burger really! I love a good veggie or turkey one though :)
Have you ever broken any bones? How? My sophomore year of highschool, I was taking a dance/cheer class at a training gym and I was practicing my toe-touch jumps and somehow landed with my toes curled… broke a bone in my mid foot. I can’t point that foot- it looks creepy. AND my freshmen year of college, I went to a party and stepped off the porch (and didn’t realize there was a step) and rolled my ankle- broken ankle. Well, it was the tip of my fibula and I think some ankle bone underneath it… it sucked. I was super embarrassed when it happened. trying to impress a cute boy and all that. :/
What do you think the CUTEST baby animals are? Golden Retriever puppies… or Lab puppies. Or… really, any puppies. :)
Favorite type of burger? Um… beef? My friend, Jess, makes a super yummy turkey burger. I’ve tried to make them… but I suck at it. So… We just go to her house and request that for dinner. :)
Your family is so fun! How cool is that glowstick parade!
I broke my wrist at age 5 riding a bike and age 18 snowboarding not fun!
I really want to make your MILs 3 item casserole dish I can’t find the post to remember what it is please tell me what’s in it, and how to make it!! Thanks :)
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries

I LOVE turkey burgers! YUM.
Taylor @ Crumbs Don't Count
That picture with the glow sticks is TOO cool!!
Cutest baby animal? They are ALL so cute, but I guess my favorite animal is a tiger so I’d have to say a baby tiger! haha
Tigers are the best!! Okay, I tried leaving a comment on your blog but I think it went to spam..SAVE ME:)
Taylor @ Crumbs Don't Count
Haha, you did go to spam! I rescued you!!
natalie @ southern fit foodie
All baby animals are adorable, but puppies and baby orangutans are my absolute favorites!!! Baby penguins, too.
I broke my wrist rollerblading (I wanted to go with my brother’s friends, and I took his rollerblades, which were, ohhhh, about eight sizes too big ha), and I broke my pinky playing basketball. My pinky finger looked like the Michelin Man!
I love burgers! Black bean, veggie, turkey, beef, chicken, etc. My favorites are the ones my husband makes with fresh ground beef, sausage, bacon, jalapenos, onion, and pineapple (all IN the burger mix). SO SO SO good!
I have never broken a bone. I probably will one day and I’m very nervous because I know it will hurt like crazy.
Baby giraffes are the cutest ever!
kari @ Running Ricig
Definitely baby otters. Puppies are right up there too.
What is a glow stick bike parade?! That is awesome!!
Janae, I am dying here. Not only does my husband think you could be my twin (I just sent him this link to prove his theory further), but I ALSO LOVE ANIMALS IN CLOTHES!
I love miniature anything, and dogs in scarves? I will just laugh until I cry. It’s so cute, I can’t stand it.
AHHH NICOLE!!! We are twins:) Dogs in scarves really are the best things ever. Hope you are having an amazing day!
PS my comment on your blog didn’t show up…check your spam:)

AND WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT GLOW IN THE DARK PARADE AND WHY DID YOU NOT INVITE ME?
I broke my arm rollerblading too! No fun, but I’d trade it now for my feet!
Love, the glow stick bike parade! haha.
Dessert twice a day is awesome :) I am enjoying it at least twice a day right now while I am on holidays!
I have never broken any bones despite being a huge klutz!
I think baby tigers are the cutest :)
Have an amazing time on holiday! Baby tigers are absolutely adorable!!
That little curly hair niece of yours is so stinkin’ adorable! I love when you post pictures of her!
I broke my arm in elementary school.
Salmon burgers. Hands down.
That glow stick parade looks pretty fun!
I broke my arm at my friend’s brother’s track meet. There was a race for all the little kids and you could win cool Nike stuff. I went to the front of the line and when the gun went off I fell and was basically trampled! My arm was broken in three places!
I think puppies are pretty darn cute and baby giraffes. :-)
My burger choice depends on my mood, today I would have to pick a turkey burger.
Awww that looks like such a fun time!!!
I broke my collar bone when I was 5…me and my brother were taking turns pushing each other down the driveway on a kiddie bike (but holding on while pushing the other so that the person riding didnt fall and hurt themselves) and I wanted to take an extra turn so he let go of me and I fell hard and broke it…lol, but I just remember thinking it didnt hurt much, it just felt like my arm was hanging there.
cutest baby animals…thats SO hard! how about a baby koala? :)
ahhh favorite type of burger, another hard one. its a tie between homemade turkey burgers and black bean burgers bc they are both MUY deliciouso.
have a great day girl!!
YOUR COLLARBONE….OUCH!! Girl, that sounds awful. Okay Koala babies are the cutest:) Do you have a good homemade turkey burger recipe for me? I hope you are having the best day ever!
uhhh yes! me and my friends used to make these at our BBQs all the time…dont laugh but it was featured on Oprah and thats how we found it…hahaha, i promise you though, BEST thing you have ever tasted
Servings: Serves 8
1/4 cup thinly sliced scallions
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
3 Granny Smith apples , peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. Tabasco® chipotle pepper sauce
1 lemon , juiced and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley , finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey’s Chutney , pureed
Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Laura @ Backstage Balance
That looks like such a fun block party!
Cutest baby animal = puppies, hands down.
Veggie burgers are my jam!
Any good veggie burger brands or recipes you can recommend for me?

I had never broken a bone until almost 2 years ago when I broke my big toe in an indoor soccer game. Painful! You don’t realize how much you use that darn toe until you can’t!
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites
A GLOW STICK parade!? How fun! :-D
I have broken my little toe twice… the first time because I got mad at an ironing board stuck in a closet… I got violent with it! haha
Baby PUGS!!!! They are the cutest most precious little bug eyed buggers around <3
Veggie burgers (digging Dr. Praegger's right now, natural beef burgers with crumbled blue cheese, lamb burgers and turkey burgers with avocado and pepperjack!

Andrea @ Andrea out loud!
FUN pictures of the glowstick parade!
I broke my pinky playing flag football in gym class in 7th grade and had to have pins put in my knuckle and cast that went over my elbow. for a broken pinky.. ridiculous right? haha
MY COMMENTS DON’T show up on your blog…save me from spam:) Broken pinky…ouch!
That bike parade is pretty sweet! I want to see it! <3
Leanne (Bride to Mrs.)
That first picture of your niece is the cutest.
I broke my arm when I was really little but I don’t remember how! All I know is that my parents said I didn’t *care* about the cast and would hit it against things haha.
I love baby lambs.
Normal beef burger :) homemade with 2 slices of cheese please.
I love baby puppies. They are precious! I’ve broken almost all of my toes but at different times. My fav burger is black bean with swiss and mushrooms.
I love baby anything! cutest animal would have to be polar bear cubs. and I hold otters very near to my heart. Second favourite animal on earth, the first is wolves :D so points for you!
I have never broken a bone *knock on wood* Licks nature burger :D yum
Sabrina @ Radioactive Runner
what a fun post! glow stick bike riding?? that sounds amazing!! why does it only have to be for kids haha.
although, I don’t want a dog.. I think little PUPPIES are the CUTEST!!!
Have you ever tried the terryaki chicken breasts from Costco? They are in the frozen section made by Tyson! DELISH! 31 grams protein and take 3 minutes to cook in microwave!! My new fav in a salad!
Oh my goodness….those are amazing. My parents always have them and I always steal them ha! Seriously the stats are awesome and that is a great idea to have it in your salad!
Billy should have greeted you with candy and a smile last night. That pic of you in the sun glasses……stunning!
Beef burger on the grill all the way. I like it on wheat bread, with romaine, and katsup, and a pickle. YUM.
Thank you SO much Erica, you always make me smile and we should have a bbq together…..pickles on burgers are the best!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List
Janae – that black lace top looks wonderful on you!
Favorite burger: turkey with avocado…or homemade black bean!
AHHH Thank you so much LIndsay and thanks for sending me your info so I can send you your book WAHOO!! PS black beans on a burger sounds incredible!
Jessica @ rerunrunning
Woah! Glow stick bike parade=coolest parade on two wheels ever! I’m so going to put glow sticks in my bike… That might actually get me to rude it, instead of just thinking about riding it.
I broke my wrist once and thought I broke my ankle another time… I went to the er, but it turned out to be just a contusion (a fancy name for a bruise). Sadly, over a year later I’m still paying off that dr’s bill. :( All for a bruise.
The photo of the bike parade is awesome! Glad to hear you did not break any bones, I was worried cuz I know you’re runner!! Looks like a great time was had by all. Although, I don’t know how you can eat cotton candy! LOL :)
I’ve broken my fair share of bones lol…
basketball: 4 front teeth, collarbone, bone in my foot
flag football: finger
barefoot sand soccer: toe
cotton candy?!!!! our county fair is coming up next month and I can’t wait!!! :)
LOVE the bike parade pic… thats pretty cool! :)
Anna @ Food Fitness and Frolicking
My senior year of high school I broke one of my metatarsal bones in my foot..not fun at all. I did get a decent amount of attention from wearing the boot for 8 weeks (heyyyy elevator pass) and earned the name Big Foot. Classy, right?
My favorite kind of burger is definitely a salmon burger or ahi tuna burger. Yummmy.
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled
I love the glow stick bike parade! That’s so cool!
The cutest baby animals are kittens. I like dogs better, but there’s nothing like a tiny, warm, fuzzy, kitten with big wondering eyes. They make me squel like a 4 year old.
Kittens are adorable!! I left a comment on your blog but it didn’t show up:( check your spam!! LOVE YOUR NEW HAIR!!
Yolie @ Practising Wellness
Baby elephants! We saw them up close and in the wild on safari in Africa last year and they are the CUTEST little things in the whole world…so adorable! <3 Although, to be fair…most baby animals are cute as can be! :-D xyx
You saw a baby elephant up close…I am SO jealous!
Yolie @ Practising Wellness
it was pretty amazing…such a special experience…i would recommend it with all my heart! they have such a cute way of behaving around one another, like a real family, and the babies are so bumbling and playful :-) xyx
GLow stick parade = coolest thing ever! How could you forget to invite me? ha ha but seriously I freaking love that!
You are gorgeous Janae! Seriously you look so pretty in all of the pictures.
I broke my ankle when I was young (I think like 5 or 6). My babysitter gave me a pump on her bike and I wasn’t wearing shoes and my ankle got stuck in the spokes of the bike and CRACK! Yup, broke my ankle. Note to any babysitters out there, don’t give a 5 year old a pump on the back of your bike.
I pretty much think any baby animal is adorable.
Not sure if you have seen but Aspaeris Pivot Shorts posted one of the pictures of you modeling their shorts on their Facebook page!
OUCH….that broken ankle story of yours sounds awful!! Ha…I will have to check that out, thanks Patty!
I have broken a toe once!! it hurt SO bad.
I love black bean chipotle burgers. YUMMM!
I would’ve totally stayed for the light show too!
I broke my collar bone when I was just two years old! Some older boy thought it would be a great idea to put me and my friend in a wagon and run down the driveway/street with us and I guess we hit a crack and out I went flying. I remember being in the wagon but that’s it luckily.
I have a serious obsession with puppies so I’d say them! Kittens are cute too but not as cute when they’re older.
I like turkey burgers! Salmon too.
Collar bone at two years old…OUCH!!! Girl, that is scary!!
What a fun night!!! I broke my arm when I was 12 and thought the cast was SUPER cool. I love how casts are totally a fashion statement to a fifth grader.
I can’t get over how cute your nieces and nephews are!
I’m a huge klutz and therefore SHOCKED that I have never broken a bone. :)
I love all baby animals, but little gorillas are so so cute.
I’m a traditionalist and love a good beef burger, especially topped with either bleu cheese or avocado. Yum! I wouldn’t turn down the other options either though! I only recently discovered how delicious portabellas are on the grill…yum. Maybe I’ll bring those to a Labor Day bbq this weekend. Thanks for the idea! ;)
Um, can we go get burgers together? One with bleu cheese and one with avocado and we can split them in half and share:) Thanks for the compliment about my nieces and nephew!
YES. Next time I’m in UT or you’re in TX, it’s a date. ;)
Looks like fun! Yes I have broken my ankle completely in half about 11 years ago still have a little arthritis in it and when its icy/snowy around these parts i am deathly afraid of slipping and falling injuring myself again. I gained a ton of weight when i was incapacitated and it took like 6 months for it to heal.
oh i didnt read the other questions
Cutest animal- bunnies i guess we are not pet people we have enough kids to make up for that
Burger- Angus beef with cheddar cheese yum !
Cat @Breakfast to Bed
Let’s see, I have broken my left wrist twice, right hand once, hairline jaw fracture, two toes, and two fingers. I also severed my left ulnar nerve.
Though I have never seen one and do not entirely believe they exist, I think a baby platypus would be awesomely cute.
I REALLY like salmon burgers with mustard dill sauce or a good old shake shack burger.
I MISS YOU THAT’S ALL.
I can’t get over how much your niece is your twin!!!
Cecily @ rerunrunning.com
Turkey burger, baby! Plus, I discovered the buffalo burger at Fuddrucker’s (sp?). It’ so, so good! Much tastier than beef, I think. Added benefits are lower calories and higher iron, and iron is something this running girl can’t get enough of :)
Oh, block parties are the coolest! I love the mini pies, especially because I can never cut a normal sized pie very well. It always ends up running or looking funny. And that glow stick bike parade? So. Jealous.
I broke my wrist at soccer practice in 7th grade, but that’s why I started running, (cast and all). I will always be grateful, even though it was no fun at the time!
Shari @ The Daily Dish
Your nieces are so cute! Looks like a fun night. And, I have to agree with you..mini pies are seriously one of the cutest desserts ever. But, I feel that way about most bite-sized foods. :)
Vanessa @ Gourmet Runner
AMAZING! I can’t believe Billy would miss a night like that. Future schmuture!
Cutest baby animals are obviously kittens. My heart melts when I see any kittens!
Favorite burger = anything! It’s all about the toppings anyway. The more toppings, the better!
What a fun night!! I would have stayed up past my bedtime too :) I have never had any broken bones…and I hope to keep it that way!
Favorite burger is the black bean burger at Chili’s – I’m sure it’s full of fakeness, but I love the big chunks of beans!
Janae!!!!!!! Your hair is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!1
I love beef Teriyaki burgers with a pineapple.
I have never broken anything, so I guess I am really really grateful for that!
Have a GREAT day!!!!!!!!!!!!1
oh my gosh, LOVE the glow stick picture!
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl
No broken bones. Love love puppies. Love all baby animals but nothin’ beats a good ol’ puppy in my book!
I like all burgers but sometimes nothing tastes as good as a good old fashioned top-of-the line cheeseburger ;-)
mnn.. I love black bean burgers with cheddar cheese and avocado smushed on top!!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated
I love just a regular burger with pickles and ketchup. Yum!! :)
And I’ve never broken any bones … probably because I was a total girly-girl and never did any activities that would cause broken bones! ;)
*knock on wood* Thankfully no broken bones for me, just a sprained ankle.
I cannot get over a fluffy baby, either a dog or a cat. So cute you just want to squeeze them and call them George. :-P
I love tropical style burgers. A beef burger with teriyaki and a pineapple is the best!
-Not really a daredevil but i broke my arm playing field hockey and fractured my skull doing……CHORES! Yeah running with a bucket on brick stairs is probably not the safest thing to do.
– Baby Kangaroos!
– Turkey burger with hot sauce all over YUM:D
My son looked at the picture of the plate and said, “Wow, she really IS a Hungry Runner Girl”.
That looks like an awesome block party.
Favorite type of burger – In N Out animal style minus tomato.
The glow stick parade is such a cute idea! If only it was dark during the daytime and I could do it with my students :P
My most memorable break [I’ve broken a couple of different things/ different times and had stitches] was when I broke my wrist in kindergarten- I ran down the wet hill, immediately after our teacher told us not to, becuase it was recess… I got picked up in the front of the school in an ambulance and came back the next day with a hot pink cast. Let me tell you, that’s big stuff in kindergarten :P
First, I think that your oldest niece looks like she could be your child for reals! Also, I’ve never broken a bone in my 20 years (ok like 19.75, but who’s counting?) And, for the most important news, I get to go to Disney World for Halloween this year! WOOHOO! So blessed :) have an AMAZING day!
