Workout First, Donut Second.

My BIL (the one that ran the SLC MARATHON in April and is a bomb runner) showed me a new trick for delicious salads.  You may not think it is delicious but I will never eat a homemade salsa without it.

You know those jars of garlic that you buy……just throw in a few teaspoons into your salad and swirl.

Billy said he won’t kiss me for two days now but lets be honest, he will forget about it after I Listerine 100 times and it will all be worth it.

My salad had potato, carrots, brocc, tomatoes, rice and I had an apple with PB on the side.  But the real beauty lies in the donut.  I know I have told you before but Buttermilk donuts are going to be the food of heaven (hence why I took the picture of it below with a white background).

My FIL came home with his normal 18 dozen donuts right as I was coming out of my room to go to the gym.  I can’t even tell you how hard it was to get my behind to the gym without face-planting into these donuts first.  Not because I wasn’t going to eat them later on in the day, but I know that it would taste so much better after getting my sweat on! And it did.  And so will the maple bar.  And the sprinkled one.

It has been 9 days (not like I am counting) since my last Yogurtland and I am trying to convince Billy that my BODY is craving it and that I must be fed fro-yo after dinner tonight.  Please tell me you think 7 hours in advance to your next dessert.  Don’t tell me I have issues in the comments, I already know.

Does food taste a lot better to you too after you get a good workout on first?

Do you like garlic?  Do you use it often?

-I put it on a lot of things but my all time favorite is on roasted vegetables!

What was your workout?

-Spin and a 2.75 RUN!!!

I have to admit, food tastes good to me all the time. I just feel less guilty about donuts if I work out first. ;)

I want to lick the screen. The donut looks SO good!

NO SUCH THING as too much garlic!

Congrats on 2.75 miles!

I did my second 5k since the pelvic/hip stress fracture. This one was a trail run that took us around and through the zoo. I was able to run 1 mile this time and walked the rest. My husband ran it, too, and my mom & brother walked through the zoo with us afterwards. Nice day.:)

I love satisfying a craving after a workout! A simple pleasure of mine really. During today’s run of 7, I wanted a grilled veggie panini, and after a cold shower (it was hot today) I made just that……delicious.

You are not alone, I have been wondering what dessert is going to be since 2pm. I’ll cheers to you as I dive into something sugary and scrumptous tonight.

happy Saturday!

HECK YES!! Garlic is fab! I don’t even care if it makes my breath smell because it is AHH-MAAY-ZING!

Reply

Today was my rest day but I was in the pool so not completely inactive.

I love garlic, my husband says that when I sleep after eating it that the smell comes out of my poors! How gross is that? He says I process it weird but I think he is a girl and needs to suck it up!

I plan my day around dessert!

Hey do you know you have issues with your comments? ( I kid, and I am evil!)

I had my first visit to a self serve fro yo place today and is was totally amazing!! I finally know what all the hype is about! :)

I pretty much smell like a garlic clove. I eat them raw sometimes. And I put about twenty cloves in everything I make. Yup, I feel sorry for whoever ends up marrying me! He better like garlic a lot.

Reply

There is never too much garlic! Loooooove it.

Garlic obsessed over here, hmmm no wonder I’m still single. You NEED to get your fro yo on girl, I have been 3 times in the last two days… I was digging the dragon passion tart today :)

I think about my dessert and snacks all the time! Today I was thinking about my night snack before lunch, only problem was I had so many cravings that I didn’t need dinner with all the snacks! :)

Food tastes so much better after working hard to get it! I did my first spin class ever today, and I loved it! (Thanks for inspiring me!) And my pizza at lunch was fabulous!

And, I love garlic and use way to much way to often!

I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU LOVED SPIN…it is the best! Pizza for lunch=happiness!

ahhhh! Congrats on the run! :D I’m glad you can run in incriments in 1/4 miles, When I get to a certain number of miles (say 7) I’m always like, ‘ehh, whats another mile?!” lol

I LOVE garlic. I always cut it up and and cook it with my chicken and other things.

and food always tastes 10x better after a workout. You know, the whole ‘refuel’ thing means I can stuff my face full of just about everything we have in the house. ;) lol.

and you’re completely normal. Billy should take you out to Yogurtland because you had such an awesome run! lol :P Have a good night :)

Yes! I feel like I deserve treats after my workouts! Kind of counter-productive, but I don’t care!!!

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to the Rogers Cup! But soemthign always comes up. One year I was asked to work it but I was leaving the country for a competition and I was SO sad. I could have mingled with the pros!

Reply

Okay I must have that doughnut right away!!! And I love garlic, but I am allergic to it! :( Sometimes I still just eat it and face the consequences. :)

Reply

I love garlic so much, but hubby doesn’t so I hardly ever have it. No workout today, had my long run yesterday so now I’m taking it nice and easy!
:)

Reply

YESSSS donuts!!! OF course it tastes better after a good sweat! Gimme dem donuts NOW. Slash Billy is a jerk you should attack him with garlic mouth.

Reply

GARLIC IS FANTASTIC!! i had a pizza last night with garlic on it…it was fantastic. The other day in a magazine I saw snack ideas under 80 calories, one of them was 3 swedish fish, who can dip into a bag of swedish fish and only eat 3??? I felt this article was betraying you on some level

Reply

That is just rude. THREE FISH…who does that?

Reply

No one does that!!! Only if they want to hurt the fishes feeling by making them feel they aren’t yummy enough for them

Reply

9 DAYS?! That’s insanity. For you anyways ;) Donuts look delicious! And definitely taste better when you’ve earned them :)

Reply

Totally am putting garlic in my next salad! Amazing idea!!!

workout(s) today:
3 mile run; 60 min. of body pump; 3 mile run – up a mountain!; and then 1 hour of yoga at a winery! I really want one of your donuts now!!!! PS. can’t believe it has been 9 days since your last fro-yo, amazed! You totally need some asap!!!!

Reply

LOVE cooking with garlic! I love heating olive oil in a skillet, adding garlic and onions, and then adding pretty much anything! It’s always delicious!!!

My workout was a 7 mile run with my hubby this morning.

And then I ate a fried Twinkie and funnel cake tonight … you know … to balance things out! ;)

Reply

I love garlic but really love onion…so that’s a double whammy right there!

Reply

I LOVE garlic. I love roasting garlic, and addign it to pretty much every meal. I even made my own Garlic Olive Oil so that the taste of garlic will always be in my meals. I know, I’m weird. haha

Today’s workout was SO fun. I took a Burlesque dance class for the first time ever and it was amaaaazing. I felt like I was Christina Aguilera and that feeling hasn’t gone away yet. This could be a problem.

Reply

EVERYTHING tastes better after a workout! I wasn’t lucky enough to get donuts after mine (40 min on the elliptical and 50 min on the bike), but luckily there is a froyo place right next to my gym……..

most everything also tastes better with garlic :D i’m part italian so we use a lottt of it when we cook – I gotta try that salad thing!!!

Reply

I love garlic….best kept in whole – just cut the top off and drizzle with some olive oil and wrap in foil – put it in either the oven or in the fire – camping…SO good

Reply

We use garlic all the time, love it!!

I did a short weights work out this morning at home and we golfed this afternoon and walked 9 holes so I think that counts too!

That donut looks good, makes me want one ;)

Reply

I LOVE garlic!!! It goes with everything – too bad not everyone I’m around loves it as much as me! :)

I’m in the process of laying out my clothes for tomorrow’s workout and I literally stopped when I saw that upclose pic of the donut. Drool!! Now all I want is a donut! Forget the workout! ;)

PS – Love your outfit – you look so pretty!

Reply

I’m allergic to garlic :( that sounds like the worlds deadliest salad to me.

Reply

Donut first, workout second – I love it! Lately I’ve been having great workouts and then trying to eat *extra* well but there have been too many fun options at night with friends! So for me it was workout first (a BodyRock TV workout: “330 Reps of Brutality” – and it was!), vegan chocolate ganache cupcake second (found it from Mama Pea’s site!)…delish! Plus I ate almost the whole pound of cherries we bought (can’t beat summer fruit!) and I’m sure I will be paying for it later. ;) Cheers to fun foods post-workouts!

Reply

woot woot for the run!! and yes, everything tastes so much better to me if i’ve put in a good sweat session first…and that donut…my, oh, my! certainly deserves a close-up front and center!!

Reply

I frickin’ love a good meal after a hard workout. Everything tastes so much better when you’re ravenous. Um…how have I never heard of buttermilk donuts? CT is slacking in the deliciousness department I tell ya! :)

Reply

I totally ate froyo on Friday for my lunch!! It was my birthday so I figured it would be ok. Well, I would have done it anyway. Ha!

So pround of your 2.75! Build slowly… I don’t want you to get sidelined again.

Love garlic too! Use it whenever I can. Last night it was on grilled portabello mushroom sliders. YUM!

6 mile run this morning before church. It’s so humid here in the south it’s almost unbearable :( But you’re right…food is much better after a run!

Reply

I always think in advance with anything that has to do with dessert..it’s just natural. ;) That donut looks delish though and now I want my boyfriend to take me to this restaurant here called the Donut Hole that has homemade cake style donuts…and key lime pie. :)

Reply

Food tastes SO much better when you’ve sweated your butt off for it. Amen! (also, sugary foods make me run sluggish so I have to avoid pre-workout!)

My workout today was a 9.3 mile run. It was supposed to be 10 but I was soaked to the bones and am still Jetlagged from taking the red eye from Vegas friday night. When I miss judged my path and found myself at my apartment with .7 miles to go I called it a day. :)

Reply

Today I ran 8 miles and then had a huge salad! But not with garlic. I will have to try that one. I love garlic — as long as its AFTER the run!

That donut looks good. I may have to go get one. Or 17.

Reply

I ran 18.25 miles this morning. Longest run since the first of april, and 2nd longest run ever! And very little hip/knee pain *knock on wood*

Reply

happy 2.75 miles!

i love garlic. so much that i worry i smell like garlic when i sweat. one time i ran by this man who smelled of sweet curry. not good.

husband wanted to go through one of my circuit workouts with me. we took advantage of not having the kids on a saturday morning and headed to the gym. he almost threw up after 3.5 of 10 circuits. he has a new appreciation for his wifey. :)

Reply

i put garlic in everything. and if a recipe calls for it, i easy add 3X the amount.

and i toally scheme getting yogurt. when i go to my parents for dinner, that afternoon, before i even show up, i start suggesting yougrt for dessert and then everyone gets the craving!

Reply

Just wanted to let you know, that i love watching your run distances creep up. You are recovering girl! So exciting!

Reply

You are not crazy for thinking about dessert 7 hours in advance. Sometimes I’ll look at my fridge or pantry and think, “I’ll eat this thing today, that tomorrow, and that the day after.” You have to have something to look forward to, right?

Reply

Okay, so this is a little weird but I swear when I saw the picture of that donut I smelled it.

Reply

1. SO TRUE! I almost always eat a turkey sammich after I go for a jog, and sitting down with it is just one of the most pleasing things.
2. Just the mere thought of garlic has caused me to drool uncontrollably. Woops.
3. A quick mile run around the neighborhood and some pilates :)
