YOU GUYS ARE IN FOR A TREAT!!! We have JULIE today!! Probably the cutest little thing in the whole wide world!  I have followed her blog for forever and feel like we are real life best friends, whether she wants that or not:)  Sit back and enjoy an amazing post filled with our favorite things in life…..pb and working out!
——————————————————————

Hey there, Hungry Runners! My name is Julie and I blog over at Peanut Butter Fingers. My blog follows my life as I try to work out regularly, eat (mostly) healthy and enjoy each day with my brand new husband (we were married in October) and our nut job of a dog, Sadie.

When Janae reached out to me about guest posting on her blog, I freaked out a little because I am an avid Hungry Runner Girl reader and love Janae’s positive outlook on life, her obsession with candy and her intense love for Billy and her family. Reading her blog warms my heart!

As I started to brainstorm guest post ideas, I thought you guys might enjoy a post that featured some super-sweaty workouts.

I regularly post workouts on my blog, ranging from treadmill interval workouts and strength training routines to circuit-style workouts.

Awesome Circuit Workouts

Circuit workouts are some of my favorites because they combine both cardio and strength moves and leave me looking like a hot mess afterward. They get my heart rate pumpin’ and make me turn from a blonde to a brunette from sweat in my hair.

Here are some of my favorite circuit workouts:

No Nonsense Circuit: I usually do this work out three times through, which takes me about 25 minutes.

  • Jumping jacks – 50
  • Squats with 25 lb. kettleball – 20
  • Squat jumps – 20
  • Alternating lunges – 20
  • Burpees – 15
  • Push ups (on my knees) – 25
  • Mountain climbers – 30
  • Crunches on exercise ball – 50

Jump Rope Cardio Circuit: This workout takes about 15 minutes to complete. I like to do it two to three times through, or one time after an easier cardio day at the gym.

  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 20 alternating lunges
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 10 tuck jumps
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 20 squats with 15 lb. dumbbell
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 60 sec. high knees
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 10 jump squats
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 10 burpees (I hate these!)
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 60 jumping jacks
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 20 sec. mountain climbers
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 25 push ups (girly style)
  • 30 sec. jump rope
  • 60 sec. plank

Mega Circuit Workout: This circuit workout is intense, but in a good way! It always leaves me feeling like I got a great workout and the constant changing of movement makes this workout fly by!

Thank you so much to Janae for allowing me to guest post today and to all of you for reading!

Question:

  • What type of workout is your favorite? Cardio, strength training or a combination of the two?

First, let me say that I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who eats peanut butter out of the jar with my fingers (I have my own bottle so I don’t have to share). These are some really intense workouts! I’ll save them for when I get up to that level of fitness. Thanks for guest posting for Janae!

and LOVE cardio first strength after!!!

Aw they are my favs too!!

I used to love my cardio but now I like a balance of the both – cardio and weights, and it really depends on the day on what I feel like doing.
Julie, I do a few of your workouts at home already and love them!

so glad to hear this, lindsey!! :)

I love these workout ideas. I choose cardio over weights. It’s finally starting to sink in that I need to do some weights, too, but I just don’t love them. I could run for 2 hours but I lose interest in weights after just one set of anything.

Aaah, so cool to see you on here Julie! :-D I used to be just about cardio, but now I love love love weight training, and am doing much more :-) Thanks for the fun and different workout ideas! <3 xyx

Looove Julie’s blog!! Awesome guest post! :D

Ah, love to see a true circuit! As a treadmill hater, Treadmill running intervals always get me down, these look killer though!!

Quality post, all around!

I usually combine strength and cardio. My favorite is a combo of spinning and circuits. You spend 8 minutes on the bike then 8 on the mat. Repeat 4 times. Its a great workout!!

Reply

Awwwwyeahhh now I have something spicy to do at the gym today! My favorite is MOSTLY cardio, but I do enjoy strength training — especially when it’s combined in a spinning class like kickass hills!

Reply

I love your treadmill interval workouts :)

Reply

guh, love you both.

since I usually like to follow my own plan cardio-wise (hello, running forever these days in marathon training), I like reading up on new weight routines the most. gotta change it up to keep me excited about it. ;)

Two of my favorite bloggers :) I love running and BodyPump! (which Julie blogged so much about I had to try it!)

Reply

I MISS BODYPUMP! I so wish they had it in Ocala!

Those are great ideas! I have been obsessed with my boot camp class because it is all circuit training – but I just put together my first last week, so these are some great moves to throw into my workout plan!

BTW, you kind of look like you could be Janae’s blond sister!

best compliment everrr. thanks!

Cardio is definitely my favorite – I am constantly trying to make myself strength train a little more. You always inspire me with your strength training workouts…now I just need to take the extra step to do them :-) Good to see you on Hungry Runner Girl!

Cute post, Julie! That pic of you and Ryan…I’m thinking…Hard Rock Live. :-)

I’m a strength training girl. I used to be all about cardio and somehow I started loving strength training and Crossfit workouts. They make me feel the best days afterwards because I can really tell I worked my muscles. Cardio only lasts for about 30 minutes and then I’m back to feeling normal. :-)

Love Julie & you Janae. You two are the best! :)

2 of my favs in one place today :)
The days when I have time for both cardio and strength are my favs. I love the sweat of cardio but how hardcore strength training makes me feel ;)

You need to start a new series on your blog titled “Julie wants you to die” workouts. Well, that’s a tad harsh.

Thank you! It is always nice to get other people’s workouts, that way I can change my own routine up a bit! I love circuits! The time goes by super fast.

I love combining both cardio and strength but if I had to choose one, I would go with CARDIO! I am a junkie :P

I love circuit training – esp fast paced ones where your heart rate stays high! I also love doing Tracy Anderson videos…her method has seriously changed my body…. xoxo from Trinidad

I really need to start incorporating some strength training like this. I love cardio but want an overall strengthened body. Thanks for the tips!

Reply

I love PB Fingers!! lol. & I’ve used several of your workouts when I’m stuck in a rut! (thank u!) and I LOVE strength, but I always try to incorporate some type of plyometric/cardio move when I’m lifting to keep my heart rate up. It definetly helps!!

Reply

Love the jump rope circuit! Will totally try it this week :)

I love-hate cardio. I find it easier to do when it’s a built-in activity like biking to work.

Reply

Love circuit workouts!! They never get boring and always leave me feeling like I got a great all around workout.

Thanks for sharing. You are absolutely gorgeous btw, I can’t wait to start following your blog. :)

Reply

Love these workouts!! Thanks for sharing :)

It depends on the day! Somedays I’m really feeling cardio, and some days I don’t want to go anywhere near a cardio machine.

I’m going to try the Jump Rope Cardio Circuit… looks like fun

Two of my fave bloggers combined – love this!

These are great ideas, but I always feel so awkward doing jumping jacks/burpees/mountain climbers at the gym – my gym is on the small side so whatever you’re doing is pretty obvious to everyone else in attendance. I will try to get over that, though!

The size of my gym’s weight room also pushes me frequently into the yoga studio, which is where I really love to get my sweat (yes, sweat) on!

Reply

I love your circuits and this is awesome to have so many in one post! I’d like to try the jump rope one because I love it so much. Makes me feel like I’m 8 again!

Reply

I love both of your blogs!! I also love these workouts. I’ve been looking for something new to try!

Reply

Thanks Julie!! These workouts are great. I love running for cardio because it clears my head but I’d say intervals on the treadmill are my Favorite workout!

Reply

LOVE PB fingers! Great guest post, Julie. I love the Mega Circuit Workout, and I have yet to try the others.

I love a combo of both cardio and strength training…hence why I love circuit training so much. You can get so much done in such a short period of time!

These workouts are super awesome! A good reason to dust off my jump rope!

It’s such a treat reading a guest post from a blogger that I love reading on a blog that I love reading (*phew, that’s a mouthful*)! I try to workout 5-6 days a week, 45 min. cardio and add some weights, but I haven’t had much success sticking with a particular weight routine :/

Reply

AH! My two favorite blogs! This made my day!!! I love reading about bloggers being friends and keeping up to date with other bloggers.

Reply

Aww two of my favorite bloggers, too!! I love it!!!

To answer Julie’s question, I enjoy doing a combination of both. I love running, I enjoy doing intervals on the treadmill, and I like strength training because I know how good it is for my body! :)

Reply

woot! Julie is great! I love cardio, and strength training, but I think strength training wins in my book!

Circuit training is great of course, b/c it combines ’em :)

Reply

Love the workouts you posted! I’ll try a new one every few days!

Your blog is awesome too!! (especially the dessert recipes) :)
