My Balance Beam Routine Video.

After our CELEBRITY SIGHTING we came home to pancakes shaped like Mickey Mouse because clearly we are obsessed with Disney.

She did not inherit her sharing habits from me.  I do not share my pancakes.  It is a clear rule that Billy knows.

After Breakfast (aka pancakes eaten at noon) we went to the park to test out our gymnastics skills.

Um, my upper body is not nearly strong enough to do that.

I think all of those hours of watching Make It or Break it have paid off.

You can make fun of me but not for too long.

What are you up to tonight? What are you having for dinner?  Anyone watching SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE??

-We are making pizza and watching kid movies:)

Did you take gymnastics/dance as a kid?

-I took gymnastics for about a year and mastered the front roll.  I also took clogging for a few years.

Would you say you have a stronger upper body, core or lower body?

-I am working on my upper body strength but I would have to say my lower body is stronger, hence the awesome balance beam routine!

Your sister and husband have mad crazy upper body strength. I can’t do that either. I try and then fall.

I took dance for a few years as a kid. Couldn’t go gymnastics because I never learned to do a simple cartwheel (still can’t *sigh*)

You rocked that beam routine! Where did you learn those skillz? :) Tonight we are having sweet corn and a giant size-of-my-head salad and probably some ice cream after that.

I took dance for like 2.4 months when I was 4 and they said I was too tall and should move on.It is probably because they were jealous of my sparkly purple leotard. So I started taking ballet lessons, and did that for a long time through middle school.

I would say I have a stronger core than anything else, due horse back riding. But I am running more and hope to get ripped legs soon! Any day now…. And my arms are decent, but don’t look that strong! Have a great day Janae!

Uh… I mean I tried gymnastics for 2.4 months….

AHHH I’m laughing out loud right now. That was a beyond impressive beam routine. :)
Getting a run in tonight because I couldn’t this morning. Can’t wait!
I took gymnastics for about 8 years as a kid and ended up quitting because I moved and the new coaches were awful.

My lower body is definitely stronger, but my upper and core are getting there!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I AM DYING.

OMG the video kiiiiills me! Looks like something I’d totally do! Is that a Dr. Pepper shirt you’re wearing?! BTW, what’s your stance on soda/diet sodas? Not sure if you’ve covered that before…

Reply

that video cracked me up! i love make it or break it – lauren’s trademark beam sassiness has nothing on you!

Reply

Laughed my butt off with that video. You totally fooled me into thinking you’re a gymnast!

Cloggers unite!! I did clogging for something like 10 years! Last weekend, I randomly busted out my mad clogging skillz for this guy I’ve been dating (for not nearly long enough to do something like that…) and the look on his face almost made me laugh as hard as your balance beam video.

I love your blog Janae~ yay for you!

Reply

Hahahahahaha so funny. i loved every second of that video, but 0.16 was the start uncontrollable laughter and a few laugh tears.

Reply

Hilarious!! You need to post more videos, because that was awesome!!

I’m definitely watching “So you think…” and “Big Brother.” I love reality TV!!

I took gymnastics as a kid, but I was horrible. I had to have a spotter to do anything, other than a cartwheel. ;)

I think my lower body is the strongest. Definitely not my core… I’m really bad about doing core work. :/

Wow, I’m at work and totally started laughing out loud and got some glares!! So funny!!!

I’m completely obsessed with SYTYCD-I love Melanie and Marco… who’s your favorite??

I never took gymnastics and my weak upper body strength proves it! I did take ballet for 12 years though!!

We are watching kid movies, too!! We might be first in line to rent Rango tomorrow. We had Subway for dinner. You totally nailed that beam routine! Love it!! I took gymnastics, dance, and baton twirling as a kid and did nothing but break my arm. I’ve never had any upper body strength. I can barely get out ten “girly” push-ups. In fact, I quit gymnastics when all the other kids my age were going to the “show team” and the coach was still lifting me up onto the bar since I couldn’t pull myself up.

Reply

Love your beam routine! I need to go find a park and post one of my own.

I adore both Make it or Break it and So You Think You Can Dance (and yes, I think I can, but no, I really can’t).

Stronger lower body, but I do have mom muscles and am capable of carrying both my 5 year old and my 3 year old at the same time if necessary (you know, throwing fits in the parking lot situations).

Great post! I love Make it or Break it! I took gymnastics for a year like you did and mastered the front roll and cartwheels but that’s about it! Loved the video!

Reply

You are so graceful! :)

Reply

I would give that routine a “10” except I know they don’t score like that anymore.
I am going to see Harry Potter tonight at midnight. My daughter is already there saving me a seat! I’ll be the dorky mom that is bringing a box of kleenex and sitting with my daughter’s friends.
I took gymnastics and quit just as I was learning a backhandspring.
My mom was the master of Mickey Mouse pancakes.

Reply

I LOVE that you called me Lauren!! My sis called me that too and it made my day:) That show is AMAZING!!

Reply

You are hilarious! You and your sister are rock stars :D Your sister’s guns totally impress me and your speed kills me

Reply

You are hilarious! At the very least you should get extra points for the enormous grin on your face…they give out points for smiling in gymnastics, right?! I have no clue…

Reply

haha I love the video!!

Will you share your strength training workout? I want to do more upper body, but always get intimidated and only do weights at home. I know I could put more into my workout if I used the weights at the gym, but I only like to do them when no-one can see since I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing

Reply

It is TOTALLY NORMAL to be in your mid-twenties and watch Make it or Break it. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Reply

HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

Reply

You are adorable. And hilarious. Thanks for the laugh – I needed that! And um, clogging? You took clogging?! There has to be a good story or two there!

I failed at gymnastics as a kid, but took tons of dance classes and was very serious about it for 8 years. I quit when I got to middle school because it was getting too competitive, and as fun as it was to be judged based on my weight and appearance at 12 years old, I decided I’d had enough. I took dance classes again in college, though, and that was fun. In my rich and fulfilling fantasy life, I would love to be a modern dancer in San Francisco.

Reply

Haha, you go girl! This made my night, thank you. I’m sure we’ll see you in London next summer, right?

Reply

THIS VIDEO JUST MADE MY ENTIRE DAY!! Love it so much! Me and my sister would always pretend to be gymnasts when we were little and yes I took gymnastics for 4 years. Dominque Dawes is still pretty much my hero.

I baked cookies tonight and now I have a cookie hangover. LR in the morning. I can’t wait til you get back so you can run with me!

Reply

SUPER impressive routine. It made me giggle…you should go pro ;)

Reply

I did ballet from age 3 until last year I quit after dancing professionally. I took one gymnastics class when I was young and cried the whole time, dance was def my thing. I am off to check out your balance beam routine, can’t wait :)

Reply

OMG. So glad I’m not the only “adult” who watches that show :)

Reply

I lacked in gymnastic abilities hard core. I still can’t do a front roll. I hope I’m never put into a situation in which I would have to do a front roll to escape alive, because I would not.

But I did do dance for years. Ballet, tap, jazz, and Irish dancing. I rocked at that. Yet I still can’t walk a straight line without falling or tripping.

Reply

That is nuts that Billy and your sister can do that on the pole!!! I don’t know if I can, but you better believe I am going to go try it tomorrow!!!!!

Reply

I cannot tell you how many times I have restrained myself from commenting on your blog but I can maintain my silence no longer!!! I. Am. Awestruck. The feeling I got while watching that routine reminds me of the first time I set foot in a self-serve fro-yo shop! Ahhhhh-mazing :D

Reply

I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU COMMENTED!! YOU MADE MY DAY!! You compared my routine to the first time you went into fro-yo……I feel honored.

Reply

and your comment made mine :) it was just that good Janae! You must be pumping gymnastic prodigies out of your P.E. class like crazy!

Reply

I used to do gymnastics and was quite good vaulting over the horse and stuff like that, and I could do a headtsand, but could never do a handstand or a cartwheel so never got to the top badges!

Reply

nice video!! I want that Mickey Mouse shaped pancake!!

I took gymnastics for 13 years!!! I miss it SOO much!! I can still do some of my skills!!

Reply

Holy awesomeness! I cannot believe Billy and your sister can do that! It is SO hard!!! I love your balance beam routine. It was really impressive, especially the grand finale! I wish I took gymnastics as a kid. I can’t even do a cartwheel. So sad. My lower body is definitely stronger, that’s why I am going to stick with running and spinning! ;)

Reply

That video kills me, you are by far the best gymnast I’ve ever seen. You’ve got the Make It or Break It arm movements DOWN!

Also, I’m totally jealous that Billy and your sister can do that. HRG feats of strength competition?

Reply

As a former competitive gymnastics coach, I applaud the difficulty level of your BB routine. And those wonderful walk like an egyptian hands were the perfect addition to your dance skills! LOL – girl, that was a great way to start my Friday!

Reply

LOL!!! omg I love you for making that video!!! You are too funny!

Reply

Thank you so much for the laugh! You totally had the arms down!!! Add a couple back tucks and I will see you in the Olympics. :-P

Reply

I took dance as a kid, loved it!!!

I have no arm strength. Literally, none. I’ve never been able to do a real push-up. Pretty pathetic. I have all of my strength in my core and legs.

Reply

BEST. routine. EVER. :D

Reply

Hahaha I loved that video!! too cute!

Reply

I did gymnastics for 12 years – and competed most of those…so I am now officially addicted to Make it Break it because it brings me back to when I could do some of that stuff…some…

Love the flexed hands – very graceful!

Reply

I’d give you a 10. The Romanians and the Chinese don’t stand a chance against you.

That video totally made me LOL. Please post more videos!!

Reply

10 10 and 9.5 ..from the crabby judge who always has to take off points for no reason :-p

That’s some serious skill on the beam ;)

Reply

I died laughing at your beam routine- I was a gymnast for 14 years of my 22 year old life- you definitely rocked it!! :P

Reply

Omg I love your balance beam routine hahahah :) gave me a good laugh today~

Reply

haha! I laughed my butt off watching that video! I had to hit replay a few times!

Reply

HA! I laughed so hard watching that. Reminds me of something I would do…LOL. Wish I had that awesome upper body strength…guess I should start working on that a little bit harder…
