We got to our spectating spot at 7 a.m.  I couldn’t sleep last night because I was so so excited.  I couldn’t wait to be surrounded by SO MANY runners, friends, good weather and of course being able to RUN MYSELF for a few miles.

We were out cheering for about 2 hours (the half started before the full) and the sister and I started complaining about hand chaffing and hoping that we could get a hand massage at the end of the race….our poor hands were so tired from clapping so much.

I saw so many of my STRONG runner friends and I would get the goosebumps in 70 degree weather seeing them run by, so happy and accomplishing their goals.

HERE IS ASH!!! She did amazing and we had so much fun running together!!!  Sasha….you killed that marathon too wahoo.  Remember how ash did a marathon 3 weeks ago?!?!

IMG 6512

I also got to run a little with Julia (dominated her first marathon) and my aunt!! It was so fun to run her in with my sis and cousin.  Family + running+ popsicles afterwards….does it get any better than that?

IMG 0344

After the race my sister and I went to the gym to do some weights.  Um, my mom called and invited us to Cafe Rio.  The front desk people laughed at us for walking into the gym and leaving five minutes later.  Food>Lifting.

I know.  I really do have a problem but how could I turn down my aunt and cousins going to Yogurtland.  Pretty sure eating outside is one of my favorite things in the world.  Yes, it looks as though my eyes are closed but I can tell you that they were not.

And this is my don’t leave me my beautiful cousin face.  (She is going to Peru for two months next week:(

Do not look directly at my knees/legs…..it could cause serious damage to your cornea.

I can’t think of a better way to spend my day.

Congrats to all of you amazing RUNNERS today at the UV half and full marathon!!!
———————————————————————–

Do you like eating outside?

Do you have cousins that live close?  Did you see your cousins a lot growing up?

Do you run with sunglasses?

-I don’t have real ‘running’ sunglasses and so I tried out normal ones today and it was so nice to run without squinting the whole time.  Billy, lets start saving for some running shades okay?

HAHA I so know what you mean about the clapping thing!! When I spectated a race I was waaaay too over-enthusiastic for the first bit and my hands were DEAD later! :P

Aww you and your cousin are so SWEET! I love my cuz’s but they don’t live near :( And I want some running sunnies SO BAD but holy moly are they expensive?!

Looks like you had an AWESOME race and all that carbo-loading clearly paid off! ;) Have a GREAT day!! <3

I’m glad you had such a good time. Don’t get all crazy on us and run 10 miles tomorrow! I run with these $36 Tifosi sunglasses … http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/TIF107/

They’ve worked out pretty well and aren’t too expensive!

I run w/ sunglasses or a hat for every run. I wear Boston Bill glasses. http://www.bostonbill.com/ ( i actually just gave away two pairs on my blog, yay!) I love them, I bought a new pair today at a race expo! They have good rubber nose grippy’s so they don’t slip while you sweat. $40/pair

Kudos to you for going out there and cheering everyone on! It will be you again before you know it! You looked great out there :-)

I’m so glad you had a fun time at the race! I wish we had a cafe rio here…that salad always looks so good!

I love eating outside as long as it is not too hot!

My cousins live about an hour away and I only have TWO cousins…how crazy is that? Our family is teeny-tiny.

I always sport shades when I run!

I love eating outside when it’s in the 80’s (so in Texas that’s about 2 weeks a year).

I need some running shades but don’t know where to start looking. Maybe a post with reviews? Just a suggestion.

I have about 100 1st cousins and I don’t live by a single one of them. I love FB because it’s the only way I know what’s going on with everyone.

Fun!!! Family, running, cafe rio, yogurtland AND popsicles?? That sounds like the perfect Janae day to me. I don’t live near any of my cousins, since they’re all in China, but I hope your cousin has a great time in Peru :)

I don’t have running sunglasses, either, but I don’t think I’d wear them anyway because I know I’d get a seriously bad tan line :P

Reply

Looks like a great day!!! I have some awesome Oakley’s that I wear for running. I got them for my bday about 2 years ago! They rock. I want to get some new lenses for them.

Reply

looks like such a fun day!! I definitely love eating outside but there aren’t too many options to do that here, without getting tons of car/bus/truck exhaust in your food. :(

I don’t run with sunglasses; always a cap!

Hope the rest of your weekend is just as fun! (and delicious!)

Everytime I see your Cafe Rio salads, I am jealous! They look so delicious! I tried this recipe tonight for dinner, and thought of Cafe Rio. So I was going to come comment with the recipe and it happens you were there today! http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/vegetarian_taco_salad.html

I would add sour cream and avacodo though! Maybe your mom can make it for you :)

AHHH I WISH I HAD A RACE TO RUN!!! I run with a pair of sport sunglasses that like stick to my head and I laaahhve eating outside, it makes everything better! My cousins live so far away boooo :(

Reply

Good job spectating (and running) today! That can be more tiring than racing, in my opinion.
I love eating outside (when the weather is nice!). In AZ, that gives me about a month or two (unless I eat at midnight).

I have tons of cousins, but don’t live near any of them. :( And I’m usually too poor to make the family reunions…. Speaking of poor, check stores like Ross or TJ Maxx for running shades. Living in AZ, they’re not optional, but my current favorite pair are Ironman brand (from TJ Maxx) for $10! They’ve lasted several months so far but I don’t care if they get trashed!

Reply

I do run with sunglasses, but not special runner’s glasses.

Years ago I spent a fortune on a pair of runners’ Oakley glasses with special venting in them.. loved them, for about 2 months. They scratched so easily and became a total waste of money.

Reply

I totally love eating outside… but the weather has to be right. I don’t like eating and having all my stuff blow away or bugs be all over… totally gross. My cousins live about 1 1/2 away so… I don’t see them super often.

I do almost nothing outside ever without sunglasses. I seriously don’t think I can even go outside without sunglasses. It’s so bright here all the time!

Hooray for running and being an AWESOMe cheerleader!

Reply

Great job to all the runners! I love spectating almost as much as running because its so awesome to see people achieving their goals!

What an awesome day. Yeah, I’m pretty sure going out to eat with family and friends beats lifting weights any day. Good call!
I love eating outside, it’s so wonderful!

Looks like such a fun day! I love cheering people on, especially when they are family members :)

And that salad looks crazy delicious, and Yogurtland is always a winner.

I like eating outside when it is SUPER hot. If it is windy it can be so annoying (think hair in mouth issues) and being cold while eating is always no fun!

Basically all 40 of my cousins (we have a HUGE family) are half the country away :( I wish they were closer!

Have a good rest of your weekend!

Reply

Whohooo! Congrats! :D Glad you had an awesome day!

You don’t need special running glasses! I’ve done long runs in my aviators (that i bought at Kohl’s) and they were just fine. Just make sure they fit snugly.

Check out my blog post today. It might make you drool. (maybe)

Woot! Woot! Way to go everyone!

I love eating outside when it is nice, Scott and I had dinner last night out on the back patio of a restaurant. It was so good and a beautiful nite.

Scott has his brother and nephews close but that is it. I wish I had more family that lived closer. Even when were kids I never lived too close to cousins.

I used to never wear them and as I got older I realized how much I squint when I am running so I splurged on some Maui Jims. BEST investment ever! They are way comfy and now I can prolong my aging :)

Reply

I grew up around a BUNCH of cousins, I have 23? of them and am close with several. My favoritest cousin moved far away last year so that has been sad.

I love sitting on deck/patio places to eat outside in the summer as long as I have a shady spot. I burn to easily. :/

i run in cheap “sport” sunglasses from Walgreens and they work great!

Reply

You rock! Not only did you cheer for tons of people but you got to run some too, so happy for you!! My ex bought me some niceee Nike running shades that I’ve put to use a few times. But they irritate me when I start to sweat like a dude :)

Reply

I love eating outside- except for when there are bugs or its windy. I’ve never actually run with sunglasses before, a girl on my team almost always runs with sunglasses. I think I would get annoyed with them, but maybe it would be better than squinting into the sun?

Reply

you are such a great cheerleader! I am sure they appreciated it so so much. Rock the sunglasses, love it!

Reply

Saw your response to my earlier response – will definitely let you know how tomorrow’s run goes. Getting support always makes me feel good!

I like to eat outside, as long as I’m in the sun. I’m like a lizard, I need my sun! A very pale, pale lizard, so not a lot of sun – just very intense, for short times.

I am very close to my cousins – both literally and emotionally. At least the ones on my father’s side of the family. For the last 30+ years, (starting when I was ~6!) we’ve been going to the same summer house in Maine for two weeks together! A very large summer house, although we’ve outgrown it. Four generations of our family have spent summers there, and I think we’re around 30-40 people at our peak! So much fun – no TV, no ‘net, just beach! The highlight of my year. And it really built those cousin bonds.

No running sunglasses. I can barely remember to wear them on a normal day.

Running part of a marathon with friends sounds like a ton of fun & probably extremely motivating to the marathoners. I LOVE the local marathon Memorial Day weekend – it’s so even when I’m not running the relay.
I have a ton of cousins that live close, and they all have their own kids now. I’m always volunteering to babysit the little ones.

Did the Utah Valley marathon today!! My 2nd (also 2nd in 3 weeks!) and beat my previous time by over 9 minutes :)
I didn’t really grow up near my cousins so I’m not very close to them- sad.
I wish I’d had sunglasses today!!

Reply

I have running shades that I’ve worn probably once. I sweat way too much and having something on my face just drives me bonkers.

Looks like you had a great day! So glad you got to run and had fun spectating :)

Reply

I always run with either a hat or sunglasses…nothing worse than sun in my eyes when I’m already sweating, huffing, and close to death.

My cousins live LIGHT YEARS away…at least 3 states away, anyway. woh wohhh.

YES, I LOVE eating outside! Seriously, May-October I insist we eat on the patio at restaurants, and I love sitting on my own backyard patio to grill and CHILL in the evenings. Nothing better. :)

Reply

I love eating outside as long as it is not too hot! I am from Alabama, so there are some hot/sticky nights:)

Reply

wow everything about that day just screams janae. Sounds so perfect! I came to the same college as one of my cousins so we became much closer which is great! My other cousins live in the same state but not close enough to see regularly unfortunately.

Reply

I just got the Nike Racer’s for running and I love them. My sunscreen doesn’t get all over my eyes and whatnot either. I got them because I like to wear sunglasses and do not want to wear my aviators or Coach sunglasses while I run! haha!

sounds like you had a perfect day! way to go cheering everyone on!

Reply

ahhhhh!!! everything about this day was just fantastic!! when I saw you I just wanted to SCREAM. I think I actually did :) It was so motivating to see you out there running! ahhhhh! can we work out together again soon???? LOVE YOU! lets celebrate together soon as well!

When I was in Nashville with my sister back in April to spectate at the CMM, we went to the expo and I bought THE BEST pair of sport sunglasses! They were some unheard-of brand, and they were like $16, but they totally look expensive, and they are awesome. Seriously best $16 EVER. I’ve always had a problem with my regular sunglasses fogging up or slipping down my nose when I get sweaty, and it’s so nice not to have to deal with that anymore!

Reply

I love running outside! We have such hot summers here, that I am enjoying being outside while we can. In fact, after my two mile race this morning, we went to Chipotle and ate on the patio!

I love my cousins. Even though one cousin and I live a few hours apart, we are both training for a half marathon that we are going to run together in August! I can’t wait.

Reply

that looks like it was a blast!! soon it will be your turn to race again !!!!

I LOVE eating outside in the summer! The best thing ever!

I am obsessed with my cousins. I have no siblings so I have kind of kidnapped them and forced them to treat me like on of their own haha. I have three that live super close and I see them all the time. I love it.

I never used to run in sunglasses but I finally got a pair of legit runner ones. It definitely helps with the sun but they make me look like a bug!

PS I found vegan froyo…blogging about it tomorrow. It’s all your fault. That’s all I have to say about that.

Reply

I have some pretty sweet running glasses my grandma got me for christmas that were only like 50$! :)

Reply

I love eating outside! Al fresco is definitely my favorite.

I was so lucky that my mom and her sister were super close, so I pretty much grew up with my cousins (I’m an only child).

Target has “running” sunglasses for cheapish and they have good UVA/B protection. I lost my nice ones :( so got a Target pair… they are working out well :)

Just say ‘no’ to squinting!

Reply

Way to go girl.. You look great out there… Your stride is perfect! I hope you had fun!! It sure looks like a fabulous day!
I LOVE eating outside? It’s so relaxing! Love it!
My cousins all live pretty close, so we had so much fun growing up together! I love my fun family!!

Sounds & looks like SUCH a fun day!!! My #1 cousin is Jennifer @milesmusclesandmommyhood and growing up we live about 3 hours apart. We got to spend LOTS of time together as we would vacation in Maine every summer. She would come visit us on holidays to and boy do we have some funny memories – that girl is a crack up! :)

YES I HAVE to run w/ sunglasses, otherwise my eyes would be watering so bad I wouldn’t be able to see the course ha ha :)

LOVE to eat outside, as long as I can keep the flies at bay! We’ve been eating many of our lunches out on the porch b/c the kiddos LIVE in the pool these days :)

looks SO fun. Good food and a race, sounds perf!

Lol I was looking at a book called Stuff White People Like yesterday and my friends and I were laughing at how true it is… and one of them is “Eating outside” hahaha. Guess it’s true for you too :-P

I have to wear my sunglasses when I run outside because the sunlight hurts my eyes so badly! The sky is super bright because I run off the boardwalk and the light reflects off of ocean…I think. I’m too concerned with looking cute to wear sport sunglasses and my giant bug like glasses work just fine. ;)

Reply

I saw you running!! Me and my friend woke up and decided to go get Cupcakes for breakfast. (yes, for breakfast) And as we were driving, we saw all the marathoners! It tuned out to be a little ironic since we were going to get cupcakes and all, but we were honking at people we knew! it was incredible. I can’t believe people can run for that long! Every time i run outside, i get totally trashed. Anyway, we totally saw you running, and you had a HUGE smile on your face! It was awesome.

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS!! This absolutely makes my day!! Girl, we should run/hangout together!! Next time you see me on your way to cupcakes you better stop for me and pick me up to go with you!
