Sleeping with the lights on.

Billy will no longer take me to the grocery store.  I begged and pleaded for this awesome pinata to fill up with skittles, sour patch kids and milky ways.  I have the perfect place to hang it in my house to keep me entertained during my summer afternoons alone.

He reminded me we were there for dinner items, not to add to my 43 cavities.

IMG 0274

We had a mean craving for some Cafe Rio soup but refused to spend money going to eat (especially since my mom already had 1/2 the ingredients and we quietly snuck the ingredients out of her food storage and into the pot).  PS I got through my Costco fiasco and picked up some banana’s.

My camera is still in the shop…..the soup tasted a trillion times better than this picture looks.  If it is too hot to eat soup where you live, just turn on the AC full blast like we did.

Tortilla Soup (The best soup you will ever have enter your body).

3 C chicken broth

2 cans tomatoes (28 oz)

1 can green chili’s (4 oz)

1/2 C enchilada sauce

3 cloves garlic

1/2 an onion chopped

Dash of cumin

Calt and pepper to taste

Cooked and shredded chicken breats

Cilantro

Limes cut in sections

Simmer all above ingredients, except limes. Squeeze at least one lime in each bowl. The lime is the flavor that makes the soup! At least for me it is.

After dinner I wanted to watch ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ but Billy wanted to watch the ‘Sixth Sense.’

IMG 0293

A sparkly laffy taffy was the only thing that got me through that creepy movie.  I do not do well with scary movies.  I am sleeping with the lights on and waking BIlly up if I hear ANY unusual sounds.

——————————————————————————————

Do you like scary movies?  Did you think the ‘Sixth Sense’ was scary?

What would you fill your pinata with (money and calories not applicable)?

-Donut holes, pogs, my usual candy favorites and gift cards to go buy more candy.

How many times a week do you go to the grocery store?

-Now that we have been branching out and trying new recipes…..almost every other day to pick up random things…..this could be a problem for our bank account.

I used to LOVE scary movies but can’t watch them anymore without being terrified! Especially if the hubs is out of town! Yikes!

I’d fill my pinata with Dove dark chocolate, milk duds, and licorice if calories and cavities were not applicable! :)

I usually end up at the grocery store more then I’d like in a week. I’d say 2-3 times even though I aim for once. These kiddos are eating me out of house and home! I always double up on things like milk, OJ and coffee creamer but we are always out!

I’m trying a new recipe tonight for pineapple glazed pork tenderloin. Hope it’s a winner!

Love the new site set-up!

that soup looks delish! I’ll have to try that soon!

I love scary movies!! well… some scary movies. Sixth sense was simply disturbing for me…

pinata would be filled with PB pretzels, junior mints, mini marshmallows, and swedish fish

I go to the grocery store at least twice a week. One big trip and usually one or two smaller trips to get last minute items or get more produce/milk. :)

Yummm! That soup looks amazing! I might have to try it out tonight!

I’d fill my pinata with sour punch straws (somehow? haha) and reeses peanut butter cups.. HEAVEN! I might have to buy myself a little pinata at the store too ;)

I go to the grocery store WAY too often! When I cook at home it seems like I’m always missing something and the store is only five minutes away, so I take a ton of mini trips instead of one big one :) Probably not the most efficient idea but I just love roaming the aisles, haha!

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding????!!!! Is this movie for real?! I’ve gotta find out how I can watch this gem lolol.

Oh boy, I love that picture of you, your sister and Billy eating the soup. From your expressions, it’s like the three of you are cropped in from differed pictures!

I used to be addicted to the thrill of watching scary movies, but I think I’m getting weak. I can’t even watch the scary scenes anymore, but end up burying my head in something.

Please fill my pinata with clothes, shoes, dark chocolate and pretzels. Mmk?

I have to be in the mood for scary movies but they don’t really bother me! I didn’t think sixth sense was scary though…thought it had a good story line actually! I don’t like movies with the blood and gore like the Saw movies…ick

The blog is back. Yay! Let Billy know he did a great job on it.

Do not like scary movies. Not one bit.

The soup looks wonderful. I may have to try it sometime.

I go at least once a week to the grocery store. I usually have to go another time to pick up fruits and veggies since they get gobbled up so much! :)

and I would fill my pinata with …. WATERMELON O’s candy!!! omg those things are sooooo addictive!!! YUM!

I definitely watched “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” last night- it was odd, ridiculous, & fun to watch that’s for sure! No worries, another episode is on next week & you know how TLC does their re-runs, you will most likely be able to catch it on again soon enough. I never really understood Gypsies, and now I still don’t but, it was ridiculous to see how they live!

I would most likely fill my pinata with sour patch kids (anything sour), cookies (could get messy but oh well), and definitely chocolate anything!

PS- I also have a different recipe for tortilla soup that’s also awesome but is a little more cheesy than yours!

Oooo…I am so going to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients to make that soup!!

I LOVE scary movies but hubs…not so much. My scary movie buddy grew-up and moved to CA because he is in the Marine Corps. I really miss our scary movie nights :(

Since it’s now just me and hubby in the house I only grocery shop about once a week. Or, if I’m on a crazy cooking binge then it’s every couple days to pick up things for recipes. Can’t wait to try your soup! Thanks for sharing :)

That soup looks oh-so-delicious! I’m going to have to try it out in the very near future! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Sixth Sense totally scared me the first time, I was afraid of seeing dead people for at least a week (even though I acted totally tough like it didn’t bother me.)
In a pinata I would put anything and everything CHOCOLATE!
I try to go to the grocery store once a week for the groceries on my menu for that week, but I always end up forgetting something and going back!

Reply

I am not a scary movie fan – don’t even remember the last time I watched one!

We grocery once a week on the weekend unless there is a mid week emergency!

That soup looks soooo good! I’m going to have to try that sometime!

I hope your runs go well!

you are SO brave. I refuse to watch ANY scary movies. I literally will not sleep for 2 days after a scary movie. NOT FUN. haha! So I am impressed! It was so good to see you yesterday. hope I can see you sometime this week so you can be formally introduced to my crazy sister.

My big fat Gypsy Wedding is INSANE!!!!

I used to go on a daily basis because the grocery store was on the way home from work. My nightly pleasure was to make for dinner what I felt like having, and so I waited each day to see what that would be. And although I still do that from time to time, it is now more of a pleasure for me to just not have to go to the store. I’d say I still go 3 times a week.

I’d like my pinata filled with plane tickets, spa services, a new summer handbag, and a cleaning lady.

I LOVE the new layout! So awesome!

I would fill my pinata with snickers and gummy bears and lululemon clothes. (What? :) You said money wasn’t an issue! :))

I LOVE the Sixth Sense!! Haha I’m rubbish with scary movies and have to shut my eyes every few seconds, but that’s movie’s still awesome, even though I’ve only seen like half of it…! :P

And I’m with you, I go to the grocery store every few days to pick up a few things, and interestingly enough my spending as increased- a lot!! I blame my nut butter addiction.

P.S. You weren’t showing up in my Google Reader, so I had to re-add you. Just letting you know in case other people are having the same problem and are also suffering from Janae-withdrawals :)

I would fill my pinata with shorts from lululemon and summery dresses. HAHA

HATE scary movies! Every once in a while I’ll think I’m ready to try and watch one again but I end having nightmares.
I go to the grocery store too much, 3-4 times a week. I like to get fresh produce, and we live really close to stores right now, so I’m ok with it!
:)

I’ve heard my big fat gypsy wedding is good, I need to DVR it!

The Sixth Sense terrified me when I saw it in 7th grade! The Ring is another good but scary movie!

I love the new page, looks great! Good call on the bananas. I buy more every time I go into a store to make sure I never run out and freeze extras just in case.
I cannot do scary movies at all. My boyfriend made me watch Paranormal Activity with him, and I couldn’t even watch the last 5 minutes.

I am OBSESSED with my big fat gypsy wedding!!!

You totally inspired me. I recreated this soup with black beans (I had leftovers but no chicken) and went a little crazy with three fresh jalepenos (we like it spicy!). YUM. Thanks for the recipe!

You just had the best piñata idea ever! Pogs, gift cards.. Please have a party with a piñata that’s awesome.

Long time reader, first time making a comment . Love your blog!

Scary movies don’t normally get to me unless I know they can really happen. I used to think Freddy Kruger lived under my bed. If I had a baller pinata I would first want Buzz Lightyear on the outside, and on the inside I would want cake, chocolate chip, cats, tea, and sparkles. I go to the grocery store when I run out of the goods..otherwise I waste toooooo much!

That soup looks yummy. My pinata would be filled with peanut butter m&m’s, resee pieces, skittles, and starburst. Yummy! I LOVE your blog. P.S you are a great aunt. I have a 2yr old niece and I love spending time with her. I wish my brother and his wife would have about 10 more kids!!!

I hate scary movies! I’m a total weenie. I’d fill my pinata with mini Larabars, Chocolate-covered almonds, and Starburst. Such a random combo. I go the grocery store way too many times/week, but sometimes just for 1 or 2 things.

We go to the grocery store literally every day…and it’s never any less fun. When I’m at school the produce men at Wegmans know me on a first-name basis. Yesterday we actually managed to hit 3 stores in a 6 hour time frame…fish from Whole Foods, lunch meat from Shaws, fruit from Hannafords. There’s something about all those towers of fresh produce and cases full of cakes that makes me very happy!

I hate scary movies and luckily have found a boy who also isn’t too keen on them so no need to sit through nail biting films and sleep with the lights on.
My fantasy pinata would be filled with dried cranberries, walnuts, Lindt white chocolate balls and Reese’s peanut butter cups.
We go to the farmer’s market once per week for all our vegetables and a lot of our cheese/dairy/dried fruit stuff and then all the canned and dry goods once per week. Unless I get an inkling to make something different and have to send my dear sister to the service station or corner store to pick up something random like pureed tomatoes in the middle of the night.

Funny story- My 12-yr old daughter wanted to watch 6th Sense w/her friends for an “out of school” party on Friday. I said no, too scary, and we rented “Watcher in the Woods” instead (a scary movie from when I was their age). Turns out it is scarier than 6th S! With saences & everything! WHOOPs. It’s a Disney… I didn’t remember it being so scary. I HATE scary shows, but did alright w/6th Sense because it has good intent at the end.
