How to entertain yourself.

William (I call him by his real name when he is acting mature) has some pretty hard finals today….that’s what you get when you choose a major like electrical engineering and you have to take a class titled, ‘Math for geniuses and people who scored a 36 on the ACT,” and so he was stuck studying all. night. long.

I had to entertain myself because the SISSY is in Kentucky and she took her kids with her (I know, it was pretty selfish decision!!!), and my mom already hung out with me once yesterday and probably wouldn’t fly for hanging with me twice in one day.

My favorite ways to entertain myself:

1.  Read blogs until your eyes start going blurry.

2.  Make homemade pizza using this recipe.  Out of produce for pizza in the Jacob’s residency…..no grocery shopping before we leave.

White flour, cheese and sauce is clearly the best form of brain food.

2b.  Eat a salad while waiting for the pizza to bake because you have the patience of a 3 year old.  Maybe a 4 year old, but that is pushing it.

3.  Start and finish packing for CALI!!! We leave this SUNDAY for a 7 week vacation.

IMG 6685

All I need is a swimsuit, running clothes and swedish fish.

4.  See how many times you can text your sister while she is on vacation before she get’s sick of you and blocks your number (it only took 14 texts just in case you were wondering.)

5.  Watch this weeks episode of the Bachelorette again….I have issues.

6.  Watch Kara Goucher running clips on YouTube.  I will be expecting a restraining order any day now…I am her number one stalker.

7.  Sit outside on your porch and people watch.  People watching is probably the most entertaining thing in the world (beside’s running that is).

8.  March to a yoga night class so that you can finally let Billy study in silence…….it wasone of those nights……

Don’t judge me for my moose trophy, I will never move it.

People watching at a bar/restaurant has become entertaining for my hubby and I because we like to see who is on dates and then read their body language etc.

My signatures as far as cooking/baking perfection: grilled cheese, chocolate chip cookie bar, banana chocolate chip muffins, and get all your veggies/vitamins salad.

A couple of different bikinis, a cute little cover up, flip flops, Hollywood type sunglasses.

You make your own dough?! Impressive!

I love that you can just “throw” together a meal that looks as good as that pizza!!! My favorite place to people watch btw is in Vegas. I love it because there are a bunch of people dressing their best….which can be really cool or a train wreck. Last time we were there, HM and I played “Romper Roulette”. Boom. Romper. I win again!

I really love your packing job. Only the essentials, right? :)

I bake the absolute best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I have have millions of people tell me they were the best they’ve ever had. :)

I’m also jealous of your porch! I don’t have one but if I did, I would be out there every day. I like people watching in the Boston Commons. It can entertain me for hours!!!

Reply

Do you want me to give you my address now or later for the cookies:) That would be SO fun to people watch in the Boston Commons!!

Reply

I totally would mail you some since my favorite thing is baking and then giving said baked good away because 1) it makes other people happy and 2) i don’t eat it all. But you’re leaving for vacation and they’d get stale on your doorstep for 7 weeks. :)

When you come run the Boston Marathon with healed femurs we can people watch in the Commons and I will bring you a batch of cookies! :)

Reply

I LIKE THAT IDEA!!! I will be dreaming about them until then:)

I would say I am best at making cassaroles, they are easy and they usually turn out great. Now if I were making homemade cookies, that is another story…mine always turn out hard as a rock.
Essentials-must have workout gear (shoes, sports bra, t-shirt and running shorts) walking shoes, flip flops, comfy shorts and tanks. Also, I always pack my on the go snacks-almonds, trail mix, string cheese, kashi bars, oatmeal packets, etc.
Lucky you, 7 whole weeks in CA!! Awesome to hear!!
I love people watching at the pool, espically the young teens who always have so much drama going on…it is fun to watch them flirt with the other young boys lol.

Reply

The pool is the BEST place to people watch!!! Good call on the snacks…I LOVE string cheese. Casseroles are the best and they make good leftovers too!

My favorite thing about my new gym is the mirrors are all at crazy angles, which makes it SO EASY to stare at everyone else working out. I love watching people work out.

Come visit me in Los Angeles! I’ll go to yoga with you.

My fiancee is a mechanical engineer, so I too saw how much he studied every. single. night. It most definitely pays off though! Congrats to Billy for enduring such a difficult degree! But the benefits pay off more than you know! ;)

I love people watching!! So much fun! I used to travel for work so I practically lived in airports and that became one of my favorite places to people watch – its fun to try to figure out where people are going and what they’re doing.

When I’m packing for somewhere warm I bring a few bathing suits, running clothes, a couple sundresses and tanks and shorts. And flip flops! I hardly wear heels in the summer bc I love to be in my rainbows as much as possible.

Reply

My job at the gym is great for people watching… There are some real weirdos out there!
Don’t forget sunscreen missy!!!

Hi Janae! I love your craziness but I’ve never commented before. Usually I never, ever comment on people’s bodies because I feel like it’s unnecessary, but I just wanted to say that ever since you took your healing break from running, you look so much healthier and even more gorgeous!

Reply

Did I read that right…a 7 WEEK vacation!?! Hot damn.

I am best at cooking with a second best at baking. :) Packing essentials for a warm place: bikini, cute cover up, flip flops, sunscreen and a great book.

Reply

Janae, I LOOOOVVVEEDD this post! I was laughing so hard! It’s great because I’ve been doing so many of those same things lately since I’m graduated but with no job (woohoo! ;)) and my husband works all day. At least we can find ways to keep ourselves entertained! :)

okay, so that pizza is looking WAY too good right now. that crust is what does it for me, looks nice and fat!

have a blast in CA, i grew up there, but in the boring sacto area. but the coast is amazing! and 7 weeks, my gosh, lucky girl!!

not gonna lie, people watching is good anywhere, but if u go to the right cities in CA u’re sure to strike gold regardless of the locale! oddly, supermarkets are pretty fun. especially watever the kids are up to. also bus stations, transit spots that are crowded.

Reply

Packing essentials are workout clothes, makeup, cute shoes, good pjs, and snacks. And I love people watching at the gym and at parks!

I am the best at baking choc chip cookies, banana bread, and pumpkin bread. I can make a mean pizza too!

Oooh my goodness, I want pizza.

Come visit me in California! I would definitely pack some sandals, sunglasses, jacket (yeah the weather has been kind of weird…)… But of course, if the beach is too windy, we have waterparks too! My own packing essentials are always comfy shoes and dressy shoes, books, toiletries, and shampoo! The ones in hotels aren’t always very nice.

There are a BILLION frozen yogurt places out here; I think you’ll be in heaven. Beach and frozen yogurt? Yes, please.

You can use – MPlayer OS X or – VLC Media Player to play MOD files on Mac.

We do see a couple minor glitches thus far, including
the crop mastery tallies being incorrect when planting new crops (only our second level mastery star was filled out for crops
we’ve mastered long ago). Check out the original source
