Donuts bring families together.

After I finally got out of bed after my 11 MILE RUN (ps new readers….all of my fitness related posts are under the MY TRAINING TAB) we piled in the car.

My MIL got me my own jar of pb….that is love.  Either that or she doesn’t want my dirty finger germs in her peanut butter.  This just in, she got out the magic markers to label who’s is who’s.

IMG 7015

First stop, the donut shop.  She is using my TEACHING STRATEGIES for her church lesson tomorrow by bribing the class with donuts.

IMG 7018

My tongue is out and it wasn’t on purpose, that is an involuntarily bodily reaction when I am in a room full of sugary goodness.

I chose the apple fritter.  Not gonna lie, it didn’t sound good at all after running but I am saving it for after dinner.  6 seconds in the microwave and that baby is going to evaporate in my mouth.

IMG 7019

How can you (brother-in-law) walk out of the donut shop with 36 donuts without a huge smile on your face?

IMG 7020

Next stop….Irvine Spectrum Shopping mall/center thingee.  There was a build your own cupcake place that Billy promised me that he would take me back to:)  Also, it was my first time EVER in Lululemon.  It was BEAUTIFUL but I would probably have to sell my beanie baby collection to afford anything in there….someday.

IMG 7026

The BIL got an ipad…..the Jacob’s family is kind of obsessed with Apple products.   It is normal to pose in the window with the mannequins.

Next stop: Costco.  You know my love for Costco right?!? Imagine going with your in-laws that enjoy buying the whole store.  We got one of everything in the produce section.  This is only 1/3 of the way through the store.

IMG 7028

Eating at Costco anytime you are within a mile of the food court is mandatory in this family.  After 4 trillion samples (literally) I chose the chicken salad and split an ice cream with the MIL.

IMG 7031

Buying the entire store is tiring.  Time for a nap.  Actually, I think I am so tired because my body is not used to RUNNING YET!!!

Did you have beanie babies?  Did you collect them?

-I WAS OBSESSED with beanie babies and have a ridiculous amount collecting dust somewhere in my parent’s storage.

My eyes are getting droopy and I can’t think of another question so tell me something INTERESTING/REALLY COOL ABOUT YOURSELF!! Any hidden talents?  Favorite things?  Let me get to know you better!

i was an interesting little child

I had TONS…one time we went on vacation and my sister and I were scared that someone would break in and obviously target our beanie baby collection, so he hid them and even put our favorites in my parent’s safe. Don’t worry, they were safe when we got back

I had soooo many beanie babies! I’m pretty sure they are in a storage container somewhere. Hmm, something totally random about me- I can only twist my tongue one way. When I try to do it on the other side I look like I’m trying to lick something that I can’t get to :). Cute, I know.

I had/have a TON of beanie babies. They are being stored at my parents house in some plastic tubs somewhere. :)

Janae, I can’t believe this was your first time at Lululemon!!! You should seriously save up and buy yourself anything from their running line. I have the Swiftly Tech Short Sleeve and Tank. The T-shirt was a gift from my husband 3 years ago and it is still my all-time fave running shirt. Plus it has silver threads in it to prevent bacteria and smell. I swear I don’t work there and only shop when I have a gift card but I can tell you, you will NOT regret your purchase!

p.s. that donut looks amazing!

11 Miler, you are just racking up those miles! I agree, it is always hard to return to running after a break and it can take some time for your body to adjust. I never got into collecting beanie babies, but when I look at garage sales it seems that is all everyone wants to get rid of now!

mmmm donut shop. build your own cupcake place. sounds like a GREAT day in my book :-) I definitely had beanie babies, barbies and any other tool that was so hot right now growing up. Polly pockets were pretty sweet too!

Reply

Woo hoo! Congrats on 11 miles AND on the apple fritter! :D

Yes! I have a huge plastic tub of Beanie Babies in my mom’s attic! I saw them when I was home at Christmas. I just don’t know what to do with them!

Hope you took it easy the rest of the day!

Nice job on your run cutie pie!!!! :) Looks like your having fun @ MIL’s house!

Hello dearest! LOL at the Beanie Baby collecting! I used to collect them with my mom as a little girl. We would go to expos and everything to hunt for the retired ones. Now, they are all suffocating in a box somewhere, collecting dust as well. Haha! At least I have the memories. :) I went on my long run today too! 18 MILES BABY! I broke in my New Balance Minimus shoes!!!!! I LOVE THEM! <3

I wasn’t ever into beanie babies, but I had a friend who was. Remember when McDonnalds gave them away with their happy meals and people went absolutely nuts?

Random: I like to play the piano. Also, I trip a lot. And I frequently stick my foot in my mouth (figuratively, not literally).

Reply

I LOVED MY BEANIE BABIES!! Seriously, I had like a shrine to them.

I want to come to Southern Cali with you and go to Costco and run with you. I’ll be there Monday.

Reply

I never got into the beanie craze, but I remember people staking out stores at 4am to get the new ones when they came out! Great job on the run too, so glad you’re getting back into it!

Reply

I only got the beanie babies I really liked, I was very picky with my beanie baby collection. lol!

I have a good question…
How old is Billy’s brother? ;) hahhaha

Reply

Awesome job running! One thing about me….I have dreams where I am running really fast and smooth and its EASY! I wake up very frustrated!

Reply

I have plenty of beanie babies in storage! They were the most popular thing when I was a kid!!

Fun facts about me: I can touch my tongue to my nose. I am a bit of a neat freak (people joke that I have OCD). I am a good singer :)

Reply

Congrats on the long run!

I have a ton of beanie babies (at my parents’ house). Are they even worth anything now-a-days? I remember when they were popular people claimed that someday they’d be so valuable! And there were the mini beanie babies from McDs too!

I will confess, I had a donut today too. It had been a couple weeks. The kind with white frosting inside, and a little chocolate on top, it’s delicious.

Fun fact: I’ve never been to Costco.

Gross. No Beanie Babies, Tickle me Elmo’s, or Furbie’s any where in my past. However my brother did have a lot of pogs and x men cards.

OMG-Can’t believe it’s your first time in a Lulu…..Just stay away….It can become an obsession-When I have kids they are gonna have to pay their own way through college cause I need my Lulu….Just sayin!

Reply

I agree. Just stay away. I wish someone would have given me that advice! Lulu brainwashed me!

Reply

Donuts and cupcakes all in the same day?! OMG HOG HEAVEN! I love it – I want to live where you live.

Hmm, what’s fun about me? Oh, in addition to this adorable little face of mine (that you can’t even see on here – good thing, it’s not as adorable as I make it out to be) – I also sound like a 12 year old. Yeah, nickname, “Squeaky”. People call my cell phone and ask for my mommy. Fun times when you’re almost 30!

I decided to get rid of my Beanie Babies when I moved out of my parents house.

I also got rid of the blanket (my sugar) that I had since I was 3 because I “thought” it was time to move on! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!

Reply

HAHA love this…I own beanie babies but my cat carries the one bear around like a baby. I will so have to post pictures of her! But for some reason she doesn’t like the koala?? I even wake up in the morning and the beanie baby is next to me….so weird!

Reply

Yay! I’m so happy for you running double digits!!! My NYCM training starts Monday and I’m NERVOUS!

Hmm. something random about myself? I was in a Nickelodeon commercial when I was in 5th grade and after it hit the air I was SURE I was going to be famous and the next Clarissa Explains it All. Alas the call never came and I am now in educational publishing. :)

Reply

I never got into beanie babies, but one of my friends growing up literally had every single one. She had a spare dresser in a closet and every single drawer was completely full of beanie babies. It was ridiculous!

We don’t have Costco, but we have a Sam’s Club (smaller but same concept) and I love it!!!

Fun fact about me….I am going to Cancun in TWELVE days!!!! I am so so so excited!!!

Reply

Um beanie babies were pretty much what I lived for. I had so many of them. Do you remember when the McDonald’s Happy Meal toy was a mini beanie baby?? It was such a crazy fad. I remember some were even ridiculously priced because they were “limited”.

Lululemon is the best store ever. Good things come from Canada :) It is expensive but so worth it. You would love the Speed Shorts because you are super fast!

Reply

I had Beanie Babies – mostly because my mom became obsessed with collecting them. I still have them in a plastic box in the basement.

Reply

My husband is obsessed with Mac too (I’m typing this from our iPad 2). I used to keep my computers for years until they stopped turning on, but he’s always upgrading and tryingbto keep up with the latest Mac technology-so weird to me!!

Ps. Love lulu lemon and beanies! Lulus are expensive, but seriously make people’s butts look good!! Am I the only creeper that notices that?! Lol

Reply

NO YOU ARE NOT!!! I totally noticed that with all of the employees wearing lulu stuff…….oops!

Reply

PB and apples are the best post run snack EVER! Where is this build-your-own-cupcake shop??? This will be my future business venture :)

Woooootttt! Congrats on 11 miles :)))) That’s a huge step towards full recovery!!

Hidden traits?? I always eat the peel of the apple, all around, before I even bite into the flesh… Weird, huh??

Reply

mmm that apple fritter looks so good right now!
never had a beanie baby…ever!
Something interesting? I’m having twins in less than a month. eek! When I found out I was pregnant, the very first thing I bought….no, not a cute onesie, not a cute anything…I bought my jogging stroller! Oh, fo sho my priorities are in the right place haha!

Reply

TWINS!!! AH THAT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER….makes my day!! HAHA I would have bought the jogging stroller first too…we sound a lot alike:)

Reply

Costco=love! That place is amazing, but takes way too much of my moola! Tonight, after being bored to tears all day, I met my mom and sissie (Mindy) at Yogurtland in Orem. It was delicious, but not quite as exciting as it used to be when, if we were lucky enough, we could run into you and say hi like we were real friends an not just blog stalkers! :)

Reply

AHHH SO SO FUN…….CAN WE GO TO YOGURTLAND TOGETHER IN AUGUST!?!?! What flavor(s) did you get?

Reply

I collected beanie baby bears when I was younger. I still have a couple tupperware containers FILLED with them, still with their tag protectors of course! My Dad thinks they are the stupidest thing ever and said he’ll only revoke that statement when I can make a down payment on a house with one…so far…no luck.

Congrats on getting back into running, sounds like you are LOVING IT! I love your combo of serious running with serious sweets eating. I ran a half marathon today and celebrated with a salted caramel cupcake…yumm!

Reply

CONGRATS ON YOUR HALF MARATHON!!! Good call on the salted caramel cupcake….I am drooling!!! HA…TAG PROTECTORS, how could I forget about those!

Reply

You and your MIL are seriously the cutest and funniest! I had to call my brothers over to see the pic of y’all riding the bikes to Yogurtland, haha!!

Yes…I did collect Beanie Babies. Ew.

Reply

I had two beanie babies. Patty the Platypus and one that was a Bear British Guard. <–My friend gave me the British one because I was born in England and she thinks that's cool. :) <–Random fact, I was born in England because both of my parents were in the Air Force and now I am too. (They're parents were in the AF too) Guess that makes me third generation Big Blue :)

Reply

Dude, I am so jealous, you guys went to my two FAVOURITE stores ever – lululemon and costco…soooo cool! (even window shopping in lulu is the bomb)
It looks like you have such an amzing time with your family-in -law! My boyfriends family are over in New Zealand but we spent three months over there this year (January-April) and it was absoultely amazing, and I love them to pieces. Thank goodness for skype, which means we can talk at least once a week with everyone, and have been doing so for two years. I swear, Skype is a godsend :-) as are extended families <3
Oh no! I can't tell you anything interesting…its so much pressure, being put on the spot like this, lol! Sorry dude! :-P xyx

Reply

Yes…. I had beanie babies. I had A TON! They are all in bins on my shelf in the guest room. I was convinced that by collecting the rare ones I would be able to sell them. My family still teases me that my beanie babies were going to “pay my way through college.” I LOVED them. I had ones I would sell and ones I will never get rid of. They were SO cute

I collected Beanie Babies from the ages of 14-19 and have about 300 of them. I am such a nerd I’ve sealed them in acid-free tissue paper and ziploc bags to preserve them in mint condition for when they’re worth millions, which of course they will be (in the year 2090 when I’m long dead haha). I love them too much to sell them anyway though.

So pleased you’re back to running: really happy for you :)

Love your blog. I’ve never commented but now that you’ve brought up lulu, I must. I am OBSESSED with lululemon. As a spin teacher, you should be able to sign up for their r&d program which gives you 15% off ALL in store purchases. Talk to the educators who work their about it. I’m in r&d (I’m a bootcamp instructor) & now I only work out in lululemon. Actually, it’s pretty much the only clothing I wear when I’m not at work. I’ve never collected beanie babies, but I collect lulu. Love it!!

Reply

That salad looks really good! Haha…my mom does the exact same thing- she buys me at least one jar of my own peanut butter! And she buys me my own almond butter sometimes too!

I don’t really have any hidden talents…I’m pretty sure the only thing I can do is run, haha

Reply

Haha. I used to have beanie babies with my sister. & remember the ones you used to get in the McDonalds Happy Meals. My parents wouldn’t even take us to McDonald’s so my aunt would collect them for us!

Great that you got a good run in. I love Lululemon but sadly I also cannot afford anything in there. I have one zip up that my mom got me and I lived in it during winter time to go to the gym!

Reply

Sounds like an AWESOME day!!!! :D
I had a massive amount of beanie babies….pretty sure that when we moved, they were put in someone’s attic, though….

Reply

I wasn’t obsessed with the beanie baby thing as I am much older, but I am becoming obsessed with running. I finished my night race taking third in my age group of females. Yee-haw!

I also enjoy cooking, and love trying out new recipes and ingredients that I’ve never used before.

Reply

I sold my beanie babies a long time ago, but I kept my Princess Di one and the tye dyed one and maybe a couple others?

Reply

Oh my goodness, you are so close to me. haha. The Spectrum is fun for sure, but Lululemon is way out of my price range. If you go back, hit up Coldstone!!

I seriously had the most INSANE collection of Beanie Babies – it was awesome.

Reply

Yesterday I went to Costco for the first time…no lie!! It was heavenly!! Now I understand your extreme love for it!!

Reply

Girl………so pleased you stepped into the motherland (lululemon) finally. My husband doesn’t get it. ANYWHERE I a go that has a one I have to stop and shop. He rolls his eyes and tries to find someplace manly to go while I sell the rights to my firstborn to get a sweatshirt.

Reply

We love Costco around here too!!! Wheeee :)

Reply

I still have all my Beanie Babies! =P I remember the manhunt to collect ‘rare’ ones….

Um…I can ‘turn off’ my sense of smell! It was a side-effect of allergy medicine I took much too long. It comes quite in handy when I have to maneuver around a sewage drain!

(And I have bedding with cake and sundae designs on it–which makes me have SWEET dreams. Hehe.)

Reply

No way! I didn’t realize you guys were down visiting in Orange County!

Oh, Ahem…I’ve been lurking around here for a while (long enough to feel creepy finally commenting) and thought I’d finally say hi! I’m Cassie, nice to meet you! I live about 3 miles from the Spectrum but haven’t heard of this cupcake place! How was it?

Hope you are having fun!
