I bet you are just LOVING my ‘running’ blog lately:) I decided that instead of describing in full detail my fifteen minutes on the elliptical at level 3 this morning I would talk about something a little more interesting. Okay, probably not too interesting but more cool than talking about the fact that I have eaten approximately 5 eggs already today or the fact that I may or may not have lost my car keys for a full 3 hours. I think my mind is just too busy thinking of how to solve world peace and inventing cold fusion instead of minor things like not leaving my keys in the bathroom and then having them stolen by a student. Cool.
“What made you decide to be a teacher?”
I think I always knew I would be a teacher but didn’t figure it out until my sophomore year of college. I was a nutrition major and as much as I loved it, I didn’t really know what I would do with my degree. I love ALL things food and fitness obviously and I knew that for my future job I needed to be up and around moving as much as humanly possible. I was also a nanny at the time for two jr. high kids and realized that I thought they were absolutely hilarious and so much fun to work with.
The light turned on. I enjoy being around teenagers (because I will always be one) and I LOVE food and fitness. Duh, a health teacher it is. I switched my major to Health Education with a minor in Drivers Ed (yes, I like driving but I made this decision because drivers ed teachers make more money = I can buy more Cafe Rio).
I graduated and got my first job as a health and drivers ed teacher and the following year I was asked to pick up history, student gov, a self-esteem course and p.e. Makes for a busy day.
Don’t underestimate my muscles people.
I will probably be sued for putting pictures of former students on the internet but these kids are all graduated by now so I don’t think that it matters anymore.
Dang, I am looking forward to summer but honestly I love my job so much for many reasons but the main one being that I get to do things like buy an elmo pinata and bring it to school.
How did you figure out what you wanted to be when you grew up? Are you still trying to figure it out? Do you think it will change over time?
-I hope to teach for a little while longer-be a mom-own a restaurant and blog the whole time, oh and get paid to run!
Who was your favorite teacher? What year was it?
-I have three. Mrs. Paey (she reads my blog now but I promise I am not saying this to win points) taught me psychology, student government and people even said we looked alike. Mr. Hall taught HEALTH and I even had him as a professor at BYU…..he inspired me to switch my mini donuts for oranges every now and then in high school:) Mrs. Burton was my 5th grade teacher and put EVERYTHING she had into teaching us.
