Remember how this used to be a running blog? Ha, that is funny.  Stick with me for a few more months and you know I will be back to talking about pace/hills/speed/racing/LR/mileage/ice baths/foam rolling like it is my job.

I did get in 30 minutes on the spin bike and there was a sub for pump that I have never had before and she seriously tried to kill me.  I was all smiles when I went into the locker room after class because I was already feeling SORE and I had one of those mental breakthroughs (that I have with running) where I want to STOP because I was tired but then I tell myself I can do it and then I DO.

I love proving myself wrong.

I definitely have a style of clothing that I love most.

I think I wear it pretty much everyday.

Why?  Because I feel comfortable in it.  I like the way it looks and it gives me confidence.

It took me many years of trying to fit into ‘my friends’ molds of dressing or whatever was in style at the time before I found out what I like to wear.

It is simple, usually cheap (shirt from Forever 21 for $3.99) and I don’t feel like I have to hold everything in when I bend over for fear of giving the world a free show

Photo

A long, loose shirt (because no one can tell if I eat 1/2 dozen donuts in one sitting or maybe cause I was teased for being so ‘endowed’ in junior high) with tight pants.  Pregnancy dressing will be an easy transition some day.

I also LOVE wearing a long necklace and a watch (forgot to wear it today).

And for the bottom half.  Flats.  Toms/rainbows/sperry’s you name it, if it is comfortable and flat, I will wear it.

I think it is really important to really think about the clothes that you feel like your BEST self in and stop buying stuff just because it is in if you don’t feel comfortable in it.  You know it is just going to sit in your closet with the tags still on:)

What do you feel most comfortable in (besides tempo’s, running tights or velour pajama pants)?

What were the popular brands when you were in high school?

-Sevens, the store ‘Buckle,’ Silvers jeans, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister and American Eagle.

Do you have a specific gym class instructor that you stalk?

-I think I found a new one to follow from gym to gym to go to her classes:)

Hi Baby Girl,

I love your look and am so glad that you are comfortable. I hope you have a great evening!

Toms are the best/most comfortable shoes EVER. I love wearing dresses because they are usually not constricting. I would prefer to wear workout clothes all the time though!

YEAH GO JANAE!! I love pushing through that mental block!! And there is one instructor that seems to READ MY MIND and know when I'm on the verge of giving up and yells at me to give more! I love her:)

Other than PJ's and workout clothes, I feel most comfortable in nice girly clothes like dresses and stuff- I am such a girl at heart! :P

P.S. Want your shoes so bad!!

You always look adorable! I love your style!

Ok-I would TOTALLY date myself if I mentioned what was in style when I was in high school but I will anyway. Girbaud, Guess, Eastland loafers with NO socks, shoulder pads and the list goes on……

I am definitely most comfortable in fitness wear. Lululemon pants everyday. If this type of clothing is excluded from your question-ha, then perhaps I am more comfortable in good jeans. Honestly, the brand name doesn't matter in the least but for some odd reason, the ones with the biggest pricetag really do look the best…. I'll sacrifice a few bucks to feel good on the rare occasion that I actually go out:)

Have a great weekend:)

I'm finally comfortable wearing tight clothing–not all over and now I'm sounding a little like a "lady of the night" or something but…
I used to wear everything baggy because I didn't want anyone to even get the outline of my body. Now I'm confident enough that's it's ok to wear some tight jeans every once in a while!
I pretty much wear some type of black pants and flats 5/7 days a week. The other 2 are the gym clothes and PJs!

Girl, our styles are so alike. I wear what makes me FEEL comfortable and secure, not what's "the latest" or what's considered it. I do try to make an effort to step away from the yoga outfits every now and then :)

I definitely have gym classes that I stalk-Todd's spin class in UT! Try to go anytime I'm home. And Erin's spin classes out here-I love them! Nothing better than a great spin class! Wish I could come to yours! It sounds like you have a lot of fun!

I love long shirts. I'm going to have to check out Forever 21. I need some new summer shirts.

YESSS I so do, her name is Nancy and I swear to God I want to be her one day. Also when there was no class this week I bascially cried.

I always roll with jeans, t-shirt, and a cardigan because it is comfy and warm:) While errbody else is wearing uncomfortable-looking shoes, I wear my uggs or my moccasins, I know I am trendy:)

Your style is adorable! :)
In high school the standard was north face jackets & rainbows. California kids, eh?

I LOVEEEEEEEEEE TOMS! & my rainbows. I usually wear comfy yet stylish clothes. It kinda just depends on my mood but when I'm at home my standard outfit is leggings, some sort of comfy shirt, and then if I wander outta the house I'll throw on toms and a cardigan. I never wear jeans, I don't even own a pair haha.

I soooo need clothing help these days. Really, most days I am found wearing black workout pants and a shirt with a fleece vest, hat and running shoes. I need a make over!!!!!!!!! teach me to look cute too! :)

Ha! We're fashion opposites! I carry my weight in my bottom half. So I feel comfortable in comfortable/loose pants (not baggy, but not tight) and – get ready for this – solid colored, fitted Ts. Sometimes I branch out and get strips, and I'll wear solid colored, fitted sweaters in the winter. I always feel like I should be more fashionable and buy more interesting clothes, but I always end up walking out of the store with my staples.

My most comfy clothes that I wear all the time is my running tights and maybe a loose sun dress. Do you remember Jnco jeans? Those were in like in the 90's. AE, A&F, and gap were big in high school. Also, I am dying for a pair of Tom's……

Reply

I love Tom's!!! Mind you…I have never owned a pair but every time I see them I tell myself to just buy some already…

Thank you for answering my fashion question!
I totally feel you on the "giving everyone a free show" shirt issue…I much prefer being able to bend over without worrying :-)

I love to wear leggings as pants (with something long enough of course) Its a sneaky way to wear sweats to work!

Reply

I think that The Limited and Express were really popular when I was in high school (in the 90s).

Reply

I wish that I could define my style, but I'm not sure how to put it into words really. I like to dress comfy and spruce up the outfit with accessories like scarves and necklaces. I remember Buckle. A & F was very popular in hs, I stopped shopping there when I begun to realize how loud they play their music and started to hate the smell of woods cologne.

Reply

Do you love your Toms?? I really want a pair and have been waffling whether I should buy or not.

I will pretty much wear anything Jcrew. It's simple and easy.

Reply

I think you have a great style. Want to help me with mine? I don't have much of a style.
At home I am typically in a hoodie and sweatpants. When going out it's mostly sweaters and jeans or tees and jeans. Boring!
Brands that were popular when I was in school would make me seem SO old! I remember Guess, Esprit, Gap, and high-top Chuck Taylors all being popular.

Reply

I just bought those exact Toms a few days ago and LOVE them! I wear them pretty much every day now! haha

Reply

I pretty much live in comfy tshirts, shorts and flip flops!!! :D

Reply

I try to find a mix of what is in and what I like the most. I try to create my own style without looking too strange and still be comfortable. I love Toms and Sperry's too :)

Reply

I completely agree with your opinions on finding clothes that you feel comfortable in! I am most comfortable in more casual wear and comfy shoes vs heels where I would probably break my ankle.
Yes! I have my favorite spin and yoga instructors that I go to every week. I would love to go to your spin class though!

Reply

Wow. Those brands are still pretty popular, unlike my high school staples: Guess, Girbaud jeans, Polo shirts and cologne. Yep, I am a child of the 80's/90's.
My husband managed a Buckle when I first started teaching so I loved me some Lucky's in the late 90's.
Now I love nice jeans with a simple shirt from J Crew and some flip flops or TOMS. A True Religion outlet opened about a mile from my house so I have to practice restraint. I stink at accessorizing so I just wear my wedding band.
I love all of my gym instructors but only follow my extreme pilates teacher from gym to gym.

Reply

i love your shoes style, because we think the same way!!! I <3 flats!

Reply

I love cute flowy tops. I have to wear pants for work all of the time because I work in a setting with children. I like to express myself with the tops I wear. Flats are a MUST!! Heels just won't work when I'm on my feet :)

Reply

You WILL be back to running before you know it! But I know we all read here for much more than running talk. :) I feel most comfortable in my lululemon! Also love winter clothes with dresses/tights/boots (although I think that look drives Billy crazy – haha). Happy Easter Weekend!

Reply

I still wear American Eagle! Sometimes it's embarassing to be wearing the same shirt as a student but whatever! Also, Toms are my absolute faves, and in the summer: flip flops!

Reply

I LOVE LOVE LOVE toms. I just bought a second pair.
i feel great in any style IF I have worked out that day. For some reason it just makes me feel pretty in anything.
P.S. We bought the same turqoise shirt at nordstrom. i saw it in a previous post and i was really happy to see that we have such great fashion sense. haha great minds think alike!

Reply

i love your style, except the flats. i do heels ;) and there's nothing more comfy (and sexy!) than a good pair of jeans.

Reply

I usually hit up Old Navy for my clothes, being on my feet and around 8 year olds all day I have to dress comfortable. I also LOVE Forever 21, my favs are their cheap tees and tanks for like four bucks, can't beat that. The best are leggings with a long shirt, almost feel like pjs.
Highschool it was Abercrombie big time, American Eagle and Hollister was also popular.
Hmmm….gym instructor that I used to stalk, no but years ago I started to take a specific spin class every Saturday just to stalk a guy, turned out he was married lol.

Reply

I feel most comfortable in jeans and a tee with a cute jacket. Pretty basic :-)

The most popular brands while I was in high school: Seven jeans, and basically anything from Nordstrom. Me and my friends would go there when we were bored on the weekend!

I haven't gone to a class in a while. I miss them!

Reply

Hey!! You're wearing that shirt I love!!

Your smile is contagious ya know!!

Reply

My go to out fit is a tshirt or tank with a cardigan. I own a ton of cardigans and am always getting new ones. And flats, toms/keds/rainbows/sperry's/sanuks (your should try the sanuks sidewalk surfers they are SUPER comfy!)

Reply

I'm all about comfortable clothes!!! If it's not comfy, I won't wear it! I have always wanted a pair of Toms but am still without!

Reply

I love what you said about wearing what you want, and not trying to be something you are not. It's so true. Whenever I try to be a different style than I am, I feel like I'm in a costume, and I don't like that feeling. (Unless it's Halloween of course) You are so great Janae! You are inspiring, and amazing, and you will heal fast and be even better at running. I swear it.

I also love long shirts, I think they are most flattering on me. Heels are not physically comfortable but I feel comfortable IN them, if that makes sense.. I feel more confident and fierce if I have a rockin pair of heels on. Of course, I also have my flats that I love and adore as well :) And EARRINGS! Anytime that I don't wear earrings, my friends are always cocking their head at me going, "what's different? you look weird…"

Reply

I actually love wearing sundresses…or any easy dress for that matter. It is so freeing…

Do I stalk/love an instructor absolutely…she is one of the best at my gyms and is awesome at training people for Tri's actually have class tomorrow at 7 so i better stop blogging!!

Reply

I LOVE Toms. I have 2 pairs and REALLY want the silver sequins ones! And they're for a great cause… double whammy!

Reply

Jeans and a tee shirt. I need a longer one because I have a long torso. For three years I worked at a company where I had to wear a suit! It was awful.
High school? Guess, Z Cavaricci (sp?), Hammer pants, Esprit.

Wow, I'm old.

Reply

BAhahahha! High school fashion… I am really old, remember? Okay, Sticky Fingers jeans, Dittos jeans, Famolare roller coaster shoes, Candies shoes (the ridiculous spike-heeled slip on thingies… I didn't wear them). I never had any of these because I was way UNcool… well, I did have the Famolare shoes :P But my butt was too skinny to look good in any of those jeans… I was just too skinny period. They didn't have them in my size :(

My "uniform" is: jeans from the consignment store and a cheapo Target t-shirt. I have little kids who ruin everything, so dressing nicely is just dumb for me.

I love love love your shirt!

Popular brands when I was in High School…wow I don't know if I can remember. I remember junior high better because that is when I became conscious of those things, Girbaud, Guess and Z. Cavilrichi…I don't know if I misspelled most of those or not but those are the ones I remember lol!

Yes I have a few instructors that are AHHHmazing…Heather teaches RPM/Spin and Body Pump, and is a runner, her body is SICK so that is motiviating plus she is a mother of 3 and is younger than I am so I just thing she is awesome. Also Else who is older than I am and is Columbian, she teaches Zumba, Body Pump and RPM/Spin and is a mother of 4. Her energy is incredible and her accent makes it easier to take her yelling at you lol!

I'm all about comfy stuff!

And my #1 source is TARGET!

I love Target stuff. I live there. I particularly like the Merona collection and the C9 workout stuff. I actually did a post on all my Target dresses, haha.

Reply

Wow I was just having this conversation with my friends last night, I would be happy in sweats all day lol But typically I like to wear my skinny jeans, flats or converses, long tee with cardigan, that's what I'm most comfortable in.

Reply

I think I just bought those same Toms yesterday! Ash gray? I should get them in the mail sometime next week. I love wearing Toms. So comfy!!!

Reply

& yet just another reason that I love ya :)
You are SO right- being comfortable is where it's at!! I hate trying to 'fit in' & where whatever is deemed to by 'in style' just because.
I LOVE your style- I always think you have the cutest outfits & it is conservative, but SUPER cute- which is what I like my style to be too! :)
HAPPY HAPPY Easter Janae!! xoxo

I Love your look :) You Rock it :)
