You are never going to believe me when I tell you this (I am still in shock) but the Physical Therapist is having me do an hour of cycling this morning followed by 30 MINUTES OF RUNNING (5 minutes run, 1 minute walk, repeat). I am experiencing a mixture of emotions: thrilled, nervous, scared, blessed and lucky:)
I might have to sneak in another morning post to tell you I survived.
Don’t judge me for kissing my quadricep in thankfulness for it finally getting better.
My secret for making dinner. Pick a protein, fats, some carbs and veggies and then open up your fridge and put whatever you want on top of them.
I took a chicken breast and covered it with taco seasoning and pan fried it in a lil’ olive oil. After the chicken was cooked I threw some cheese on and topped it with salsa. I actually applauded myself after each bite, it was that good. I had some roasted BROC and a baked potato on the side.
Dang, I have filled my body with enough delicious nutrients, I think that it is time to finish the night with a wee bit of leftover homemade ice cream. Gotta carb load for THIRTY minutes of running:)
P.S. I have some awesomely exciting ridiculously happily news to share with you later today.
Hope you are having an amazing Tuesday and thanks for being my best friend:)
Mild, Medium or HOT salsa?

What is your favorite way to cook chicken? Favorite chicken seasonings and toppings?

Lara @ six times the yum
Good luck!… Mild salsa. I don't mind spicy, but I don't like when it overpowers the flavors of the food it's with… I don't eat chicken, so I'll talk about fish. Haha.I love grilled or pan seared fish with lemon and sometimes sweetened butter… I'm most thankful for my friends and family and peanut butter ('nuff said).
As for Boston, I go to school here / live here, and even though I'm not running the race, I'm going to try to partake in the festivities. Are there plans for a blogger meet up? That would be super duper fun!!!

Awe! Good luck Janae!
If I want to down a ton of salsa, Mild. Otherwise, Medium :)
Chicken and I are basically best buds. I eat it pretty much every night. I loved switchin it up, but right now my favorite is Italian Seasoning sprinkled on top and then cooking it in a pan!
Today, I am thankful for life. Its a bittersweet one over here for me because its the 4 year anniversary of loosing a close family member.
Hmmm.. Good books. I have read Water For Elephants, and I just finished The Notebook (Great as a book!)
Yay for running! I hope you enjoy every step.
Yay for running! I remember the first little short run I could do after coming back from an injury and I was crying on the treadmill at the Y the whole time because I had missed it so much.
I'm all for medium salsa…a little heat, but not too much. Thankful today for my friends!
Yay for Running!
Mild Salsa…I can't do the real spicy stuff, weak stomach :-(
I typically pan fry chicken or bake it and put whatever seasoning sound good at that time, your chicken dish sounds super yummy, may have to try that sometime!
I am mostly thankful to have a job and have clothes on my back and a roof over my head, sometimes we take those things for granted and right now I'm super thankful!
I am currently reading L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad, 3 book series, pretty good, kind of like Sex and the City.

Yay! So excited for you!
YAY!!! So happy for you.
I am a wuss and can only handle the mild salsa. Fresh and chunky is the way I like it. Yet another reason I cannot wait until summer. Salsa is so much better when it is fresh.
I can't wait to hear your news. Have a wonderful day!
Awesome, how exciting!!! I love mild salsa, and I'm thankful to have had a good first run in my half training!
-I am a mild salsa girl. I can't take the heat ;( Don't kick me out of the kitchen!

-I am so thankful for Cali weather! It's supposed to get up into the 80s today!
Hello, I think your website might be havnig browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog site in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!
So glad you can run for 30 minutes!! I'm reading Robert Crais "the forgotten man". I love him and harlan coben.
Hip! Hip! Hooray!

Alyssa @ Life of bLyss
AWESOME news! ugh, isn't that the best feeling ever? I bet you get the biggest runner's high today. Good luck!

Congrats so much! Please let us know how it goes! Today is actually my birthday and I've been out with a stress fracture (interrupted my first marathon training, which was going pretty awesomely)… I've been sneaking in unadvised short like 6 milers… and today is my celebratory return run with my running group of friends. Keep your fingers crossed mine goes ok too!
Great post!!! I enjoy medium salsa!!!
My favorite way to have chicken is salsa chicken. Seriously, so good!!
Today I am thankful that I am feeling better!!!
Grateful for my run in the warmth and humidity this morning. Love to cook my chicken with Montreal steak seasoning. Super hot and spicy. Oh and I am reading Revolution right now by Jennifer Donnelly. Its totally great!
Mild salsa, for sure!
I LOVE BBQ chicken, nothing comes close :)
I am thankful for my amazing family, they never cease to amaze me.
I would highly recommend Emily Giffin's series of books, along with "If I Stay" by Gayle Foreman!
So happy for you! I'm doing a little victory dance at my desk for you and your quad.
I don't eat chicken but am absolutely drool-y over the smell of bbq'd chicken over an open grill… Mmmmmmmm
yay for you! happy healing :) … for me; medium salsa, marinated & grilled chicken, grateful and i'm reading "the red tent." love it all! (thanks for asking)
I LOVED Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. It's actually been made into a movie and is coming out this month. The book was incredible. I've heard good things about The Help also, but I haven't read it myself. Where are you travelling to? I'm so excited for your quad healing :)
Cara @ eat.pray.run.
congrats on healing! i've been following your progress and it gives me hope that my stress fracture will one day heal! enjoy the run :)
I think kissing your
quad is way beyond
Woo Hoo to thirty minutes of running! Holla!! You should be able to kiss your quad.
I used to hate salsa, but I have recently taken a liking to it. Only mild though :)
Yay!!!! I knew you would get better before BOSTON! Just think of this as the longest taper EVER!
Good luck with your run, I hope it is euphoric!
30 minutes – awesome!!! My fingers are crossed for a quick and continued recovery! I actually hugged myself after the dinner I made last night, we were twinners!
Yay running! Question: where do you find good salsa?? I love the fresh, chunky stuff, but can never find it anywhere. Do you make yours?
Best news I've heard all day!
Definitely hot salsa. There's no other way.
Gracie (Complicated Day)
Your pic made me smile…hot hot hot salsa all the way! Homemade habenero is best!
YES! I hope it held out beautifully for you!
nice enjoy your run! Right now i'm reading the Perfect Mile. Its the story of the 3 men who set out to run a mile under 4 minutes back in the 50s its so cool and inspiring i love it.
Jess @ Blonde Ponytail
YAY!! 30 mins of running!! C'mon quad–you are nutrified (that is so a word) and ready to roll! Beantown here you come!!
Salsa–PICO de Gallo is the fav–spicyness scurrs me!
Book suggestions: Water for Elephants, The Long Run, and The Help are all recent reads that I enjoyed!
quad quad quad quad!!!! you can do it!!! :)
i don't like ANYTHING chunky. blah! i have texture aversions. ;)
i haven't read any books lately. i have GOT to find some time to though. enjoy your travels…but you better be blogging everyday!
Yay!! That's awesome!
I love salsa and I'll put it on anything. I have to stick to the milder versions b/c it irritates my sensitive stomach. I LOVE BBQ too!
Books in queue and undecided where to start: Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult, books 2 and 3 from the Hunger Games trilogy (Mockingjay & Catching Fire).
Hot salsa, not too chunky!
Love roasted chicken – have you ever tried "beer-butt" roasted chicken? You actually roast the chicken while it's "sitting" on a can of beer – very tender & juicy!
Just finished Unbroken – a WW2 story, and am currently reading Freedom – very good!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife
YAH for your run!!! Love hot salsa :) Burn, baby!p.s. great books are The Help, Hunger Game Series, and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series
Vanessa @ Gourmet Runner
You must be so incredibly excited to be running today. That 30 minutes will be awesome!
I love salsa but it has to be mild. Super chunky and homemade is the best though. I'm reading Waiting for Snow in Havana and so far so good. :)
Check out my blog for books! Not sure what your taste is, but you may like Room by Emma Donoghue. It's told from the perspective of a five year old boy who has lived his whole life with him mom trapped in a shed (his mom was kidnapped). It's quick, easy, but good.
Holley @ Lunges and Lashes
YAY!!! Such good news!
I love to read non fiction a lot. I enjoyed reading Lance Armstrong's book, "It's Not About the Bike." I know it's not running material, but his story is really inspirational. I never realized before how he REALLY beat all the odds. He is pretty amazing. I think you would like it. :)
I would recommend it a million times – Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society! My formal recommendation is here: http://mplusbequalslove.blogspot.com/2011/03/30-day-picture-challenge-day-23.html. Have so much fun on your spring break!! AND HOORAY FOR YOUR 30 MINUTES OF RUNNING TODAY!! CONGRATS!!
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Living Girl"
OMG good luck running today!
My favorite way to cook chicken is to buy it pre-cooked hehe. I discussed in my blog today :-)
Mild, because I'm a wuss.
I'm a firm believer that cheese makes everything taste better, and that definitely applies to chicken. Preferably with marinara sauce.
I'm hoping I can be thankful that my doctor will tell me my knee will be fine by Saturday, but considering the limp, I'm guessing that isn't going to happen.
yahoo running!!! fantastic!!!
ok books! I LOVE books
Sara's Key, the best I read in a few years.
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society
Water for Elephants
any David Sedaris but Me talk pretty one day is the best.
30 minutes! Awesome!
I would second the "Guernsey Literary…" book, "These Is My Words" is one of the best ever, and if you haven't read "The Hunger Games", you should do it NOW. I just started "The Lincoln Lawyer" yesterday and it is pretty good so far.
What am I thankful for today? My friend letting me run in her Salt Lake Half Marathon spot FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's hope I can PR.
This is great!!! I’m so excited for you- You have done the best job being patient- I’m not so good.. but your an inspiration!! P.S. I’m glad to see someone who likes broccoli as much as I do :)
I'm guessing your surprisingly happy news is that Billy has decided to go to law school at SMU and that you will be moving to Texas (specifically Allen) to continue your blogging domination. Might I also add you can train at the Michael Johnson Performance Center which happens to be about 5 feet from my house. Just saying….
Glad the quad is healing.
I'm on the third book of the Hunger Games series now. I feel like if your a teacher you should probably read it. I did read Portia De Rossi's book unbearable lightness and finished it in like two days. It was hard to read, but good. My favorite book of all time is The Book Thief.
1. My PT allowed me to run 10 minutes today and is giving me the go ahead to do 4 miles tomorrow. I wanted to die of happiness! So definitely completely understand your utter joy!!!! If I could kiss my hip I would have!
2. We have the same New balance shoes. LOVE. THEM.
3. Just finished 26.2 by Dean K. and am starting 50/50 by him as well.
I am reading The Paris Wife and want to get the new Sweet Valley Book!!!
SO EXCITING you are able to run again!!!
Jogging with Fiction
Medium salsa! I could eat it with a spoon!
I'm so excited you can run again!! Yay!
I'm rereading the Handmaid's Tale. I read it in high school and I love it all over again!!
Abby @ Have Dental Floss, Will Travel
Great news! Can't wait to hear how the 30 minutes turn out :)
I'm thankful for FINALLY feeling good after several down weeks.
Is the good news that you're moving to Philly for law school? I hear that they're building a giant mormon temple in the area! :) (http://whyy.org/cms/news/government-politics/2010/05/13/new-details-on-philadelphia-mormon-temple/38052)
Salsa has to be suuuuper hot and chunkyy!!
if you want to have a good laugh, read A Year in the Merde by Stephen Clarke. It's about the cultural differences between the British and the French and it's soooo funny!
YAY for getting to run! How exciting for you. I can't wait to hear how it goes. :). In a hot salsa kind of girl, and love to season chicken with Italian dressing and lots of red pepper flakes. And, today I'm thankful for my body. After 8 months or so of shin splints, I'm thankful that running is fun again and no longer horrendously painful. :)
I am so happy for you!
Definitely hot salsa, my boyfriend got me addicted to spicy foods.
what kind of books do you like to read?? i have some good ideas but they are ronchy!
Someone told me that they just finished "The Hunger Games" books. Supposedly better than twilight series. Have fun
Erin @ UntilYouTri
Mild salsa–I'm a wuss!:)
My favorite way to cook chicken is in the crockpot with some BBQ or with salsa/corn for fiesta chicken (http://untilyoutri.wordpress.com/favorite-recipes/crock-pot-fiesta-chicken/)…becuase that's easy to cook, my favorite way to EAT chicken might be chicken parm…yum!
Kristin @ Lazy Marathoner
ahh i'm a huge booknerd. i have so many favorites…recently i read The Help, The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, I'd Know You Anywhere, and tons more. Email me if you need more suggestions :)
Some book recommendations: I'm Down: a Memoir by Mishna Wolff(she's super funny like you!), and Losing My Faculties: A Teacher's Story by Brendan Halpin (you can probably relate to this since you are a teacher!)
Delirium by Lauren Oliver… go read this book right now! I couldn't put it down!
YAY!! You are going to have awesomely fresh legs ready to rock out Boston!
Yes, yes, YES to chunky salsa! If you have a Trader Joe's near you (?), check out their peach salsa – it is so different but so amazing.
Hmm, not sure on the chicken front – I like chicken a LOT of different ways.
Thankful for some free time at work to catch up on blogs :)
Reading "The Red Tent" right now and not really enjoying it at all, but I want to finish it and be done. You've probably already read this, but I bet you would love "Personal Record: A Love Affair with Running" by Rachel Toor. On a non-running front, I found "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson to be totally inspirational. And if you want something light and fluffy, Emily Giffin's books are always fun.
ahhhh! you run in new balance minimus trails!!!??? i just got mine, i've run a couple of times in them. what do you think? i have mixed feelings ….
