Fajitas and Sugar after dinner.

Workout:

It is 8:30 A.M on my Spring Break (PS work at a charter school and you get 2 spring breaks….my second one is the week before BOSTON, perfect) and I have already…..

Taught a spin class,

Ran an 8 mile recover run @ 8:00 pace,

Stretch, foam rolled,

Ate breakfast and

SHOWERED and WASHED MY HAIR (feel free to clap for this one, your co-workers/family will only think you are semi-crazy).

Considering yesterday I didn’t even get out of bed until 10:30, I am feeling pretty productive.

Let’s be honest……as soon as I push publish I am crawling right back into bed with my laptop and amazing stalker abilities to enjoy YOUR blogs!!!!

——————————————————————-

I don’t know what it is but I LOVE mexican food.  Between the tortilla, spiciness and the fact that Billy loves it too, we eat Mexican food a lot.

For din din I made some fajitas.

First, you have to try these tortillas. You buy them at Costco next to the cheese, they are just raw (still dough) tortillas.  You cook them yourselves in a pan on the stove top (about 2 minutes per tortilla) and they taste SO FRESH.  Try them. (They are TortillaLand brand).

IMG_4637.JPG

I don’t even know what is going on with my hair but rest assured that it is now washed and air-drying.  I will not expose any more people to the rats nest that was going on up in there.  In the shower I found 4 bobbi pins that I did not know were in there.

I cooked some chicken in a pan with taco seasoning and in another pan green peppers, red peppers and onions. Don’t overcook the veggies, you want them to still be a little crispy ya know?!

Throw the goodies into your fresh tortillas with some cheese, avocado, sour cream and salsa and you’ve got a meal that is better than a restaurant meal.  When I worked at a Mexican restaurant they charged $16.95 for their fajitas and they weren’t even half as good as these ones.  We made ours for about $6 for two people (that is a savings of 13.95 per person)!

Even though I was stuffed the sugar beast showed its ugly face and forced me to have rocky road ice cream with chocolate chips.

Here is the dealio.  I HAVE to have something sweet after dinner, I feel like something is wrong with me.

For my first marathon I cut out sweets to help my performance and somehow I trained my body to live without desserts for 4 months. For my birthday we even had a fruit salad to replace my cake.  I know…..who was I?

I LOVED not feeling that I NEEDED to have something (the best part for me by quitting caffeine is the fact that I don’t feel like I have to have it).

———————————————————————————–

Here is my question……..

Do YOU feel like you NEED something sweet after you eat lunch or dinner?  Do you cave in like me?

-Lunch isn’t as bad as dinner but after dinner my mind can only think of one thing C.A.N.D.Y.

If you don’t feel like you need dessert after dinner have you always been that way?  How did you train your body to not crave it?

-I was so focused on my training last year that I did whatever it took to make sure I was fueling my body with the best foods possible.  Slowly the sugar crept back in and I feel like it now has a hold over me:)

Let’s get it out in the open…..How often do you wash your hair? Be honest.

-Twice maybe 3 times if I have a hot date:)  There have been a few weeks in my history that it just happened once, wow that felt good to get off of my chest.  Just like weening off of sugar I think you can train your hair to not produce as much oils and therefore not have to wash it as much:)

I totally feel like I need coffee every morning. But after getting the flu and not drinking coffee for two weeks straight, I don't feel like I need it as much as I used to.

On the other hand, I always feel like I need something sweet at the end of a meal. Even if it's just a few jelly beans or a sucker. :)

Man those fajitas look yummy!!!! =D
I feel like I have to have some sort of chocolate every day of my life….but usually something small is enough for me, unless I'm baking and then the sugar monster comes out! =D
I wash my hair every other day, but that's just because we live 9 degrees south of the equator and its like a furnace in this country. =D

Mexican is my favorite! You have to try these tacos, you'll love them! Promise!
http://amileinmyboots05.blogspot.com/2011/03/i-won-two-awards.html

I don't crave sugar all that often. I also eat primal/paleo so I don't eat a ton of sugar anyway. But I keep an open bag of chocolate chips in the freezer and when I need a fix, I grab a few and that tides me over.

I wash my hair about every 3 days. My hair dries out super easy. I try and do it with my run schedule, so Sun, Tues, Thurs(ish). I might put off Thurs until Fri since it's my rest day. :)

Mexican is my favorite too! But now that I am going Vegetarian I get to get creative and find ways to recreate my favorite Mexican dishes.

Desserts after meals are something I want sometimes, but not all the time. But when I do want dessert, I want it bad! And nothing will stop me from getting my fix.

I wash my hair everyday. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help myself. Sometime I can push it out to every other day.

Reply

I too have to have something sweet after dinner or something just isn't RIGHT. I've tried to give this up multiple times, but I always cave. Always.

I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week. Dry shampoo is my best friend!

Reply

Way to go Mrs Productive! That's amazing! I am so proud about washing the hair I wash about every three days and hey I'm even a hair dresser! The dirt gives some good volume ha ha ha! Loves

I HAVE to have something sweet after dinner. My mom is coming to visit today and is brining a suitcase full of girl scout cookies. I could not be more excited.

Lunch is not quite as bad but I definitely at least need a chocolate covered luna bar to get me through the afternoon sugar shakes.

I am known for not showering nearly enough. I think my coworkers might sign a petition to fire me if I go on one more midday run without showering after.

Reply

I'm with you – I have to have something sweet after dinner. I am getting into buying things like ice cream sammies and fudge bars so I don't dish up 10 servings of ice cream.

I wash my hair every other day and no more. It is a pain to flat iron and can only manage the effort a few times a week. I've been tempted to go longer without shampoo but can't muster the courage yet.

Enjoy the rest of your day, you productive gal!

I just wrote a long response to my ocd about being clean and washing my hair and it deleted. Boo :(

I am one of those "have to have something sweet after dinner" people. I would cave to the sugar monster every night. Now I am actually trying to cut out most added sugars until boston and it's not as hard as I thought it would be. It's only day 4 and I already feel better. I'm going to be doing a post about it soon actually!

Reply

I almost always have dessert after dinner. It's a nice way to finish out the day!

I wash my hair every couple of days. I think that probably equals out to three times a week. I have curly hair and it becomes a crazy frizzy mess if I wash anymore frequently.

I want to try those tortillas! I've actually made my own a few times and they are delicious, but they just take too long. Mike and I probably eat mexican at least twice a week. DELICIOUS!

Reply

i made fajitas last night too!! woohoo!

Reply

I love your purple workout top! I usually crave something sweet after dinner – and mostly I give in to it with chocolate or dried mango (my obsession that is going to break the bank). After lunch, I'll usually have an orange or other fruit. I wash my hair every other day on average. Sometimes longer, but then Billy says something. :)

Reply

I also feel like I NEED something sweet after dinner. Always! Whether it's ice-cream or a cup of chocolate soy milk. I have to have something. I've been like that for as long as I can remember.

I was my hair 7 days a week. ONLY because I have very oily hair. If I skipped a day, I would look like a nasty greasy person. Trust me, no one wants to see how greasy I can get.

You went without sugar for your first marathon!? How the heck did that go? I don't think I am anywhere near making that sacrifice quite yet. :)

Go to my page and write your 6 word poem about running!! I want to know what you come up with. :)

Mexican food is my FAVORITE! My mother-in-law (who is from Mexico) is the most wonderful cook ever! When we visit we get homemade tortillas EVERY day! I do not crave sweet things very often…but Diet Dr Pepper calls for me ALL the time. I do really good for a while but I always go back. Yesterday I drank to much (we were in town shopping) and I paid for it this morning at the gym. I fet so sluggish. I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I have SUPER THICK hair and it is pain to dry and straighten it…it grosses my husband out, he thinks my hair stinks…so that is why I spritz it with perfume before he gets home!!

Reply

I have trained my hair gooooood. Haha, I actually haven't washed it for 4 days!! eek, gross but hey, it's not oily! I've had it in a bun for the last 3 days though, so maybe that helps :)

Reply

When I try to cut back on sugar during training I feel weaker on my runs.
Do you notice any difference in your training now versus then?

Reply

ok…i need help with my sugar addiction too!! ahhh, it's so bad :)

enjoy the rest of your spring break. i'm super impressed with the productivity.

Giiirl fajitas are the BEST. Slash let's have a fajita party, I love mexico food and we can eat salsa and avocados all day!! Slash it's fine I never wash my hair, I use my DIY dry shampoo trick like every other day, aka 4/7 days of the week:)

I always have something sweet in every meal, typically raisins in EVERYTHING so I never feel like I "need" something sweet. I love having sweet things, but I never feel like I need them. Perhaps it is because I eat NO sugar whatsoever? I only use stevia and fruit!:)

Reply

Fajitas are my favorite things to have for dinner ever. So simple & healthy!
I love that you found a bobbypin in your hair … I have done that on many occassions myself. I used to wash my hair everyday but I'm trying to just wash it every other day and rinse if necessary inbetween. Have a great day relaxing =)

Reply

I actually gave up sugar/artificial sweeteners for the week. I'm finding that I am craving the after-meal sweets less, but I also made myself little "energy balls" made out of honey, almond butter, oats, and chia seeds which I have been enjoying for dessert only after dinner. I figure it is better than ice cream at least!

Reply

Your fajitas look delish!

I wish I could wash my hair three times a week. I have to wash it every single day. And I can't shower at night because by 9 the next morning my hair is greasy. So annoying!

Reply

Okay so I only wash my hair after I run. This way I run and wash my hair. No run = messy nasty hair.

Reply

I had fajitas last night for dinner too!

I try to wash my hair every other day…its easier if its the winter bc in the summer when I run I get to sweaty and have to wash everyday…

Reply

– LOL, well, I admit, pretty much after I swim, which is 3-4 times a week

Reply

I, too, have a really strong craving for desert after dinner. I don't pack anything sweet in my lunch, so during the day it isn't a problem. I've always had this craving–my family had desert after lunch AND dinner!! (I grew up in the Midwest, and I think it might be a Midwest thing??)

I wash my hair every other day–sometimes daily. It just gets so greasy, and I hate that feeling!

Way to already have such a productive day!

Reply

You're amazing on so many levels. I want Mexican now and it's not even 9am.

I'm currently sitting at my desk after a 6.5 miler, no shower, no hairwashing. In terms of workouts & not days – I've gone 2 runs & a yoga class before shampooing before. Sprinkle a little baby powder in there and you're good, man!

Reply

I admit that I'm a full-blown sugar addict. I'm the same way – after lunch I'm fine, but its after dinner that I get the intense cravings! I'm trying to do a sugar detox right now…last week I made it 3 days (Mon – Wed) and so far this week I've made it Mon-Thurs (but the day isn't over yet!!). Because I'm such a sugar slut I decided that I needed to cut it out during the week to try to control it. We'll see how long I can keep this up for!

I prob wash my hair 5 times a week…any less than that and I look like a greaseball!

Reply

girl i totally feel ya. i always feel like i need something sweet after dinner regardless of how full i am. but i give you mad props for giving up caffeine though! i get a headache midday if i don't have my morning coffee :-/
and i probably wash my hair about 3-4 times per week. after a run, my boyfriend will ask me if i want to shower before we hang out…and i always look at him like he's crazy. showers are overrated. :)

Reply

I always eat dessert after dinner and sometimes after lunch. But, once in college I gave up sweets for Lent. I did it for the full 40 days and even went sans sweets on my birthday. Crazy!

I have friends that Xfit and follow the Paleo Diet…no refined sugars (or dairy). It's diet that intrigues me, but I have NO IDEA how they do it.

I 3-4 times a week. If I'm having a particularly oily day and I don't feel like showering, I will use dry shampoo or baby powder.

Reply

My cravings for something sweet vary, but some lunches and dinners I crave chocolate right after and lately I have been munching on Girl Scout cookies (Tagalongs) and reese cups. I love me some peanut butter and chocolate!
I wash my hair every day but sometimes it may be every other day, depends. I just can't stand dirty hair and my hair looks awful when it's dirty! Although your hair looks fantastic all the time! What's your crazy secret?!

Reply

Those fajitas sound awfully yummy :) My kids get 2 spring breaks, too. As a parent, I have mixed feelings about that :P

Wash my hair once or twice a week. Any more than that and it is like straw…yuck.

I don't need sweets anymore. But I like them :)

Reply

Argh I am SO addicted to sugar!! I have to have something sweet, specially after dinner! It's pretty bad…! :P

I am typing this whilst eating my body weight in PB oatmeal cookie dough. I would feel ashamed but it tastes too darn good:)

Reply

I HAVE to have something sweet after dinner as well! My taste buds demand something sweet right after a savory dinner–and I'm okay with that! :)

As for my hair, I try and wash it every other day–but there are definitely times where I don't wash it for a few days! Hello, dry shampoo!!

Reply

I wash my hair 2-3x per week.

Reply

I always have a handful of something sweet before bed. It usually is peanut m&m's or something gummi like sour patch kids or sweedish fish.

It is a good week for me if I wash my hair once. I think I buy shampoo like once a year.

Reply

Those fajitas look so good!!

I definitely want something sweet after lunch and dinner. I am a sweets person as well. I usually cave for both. Ha. That's not true. I've actually been getting a drink packet from Target that is so sugary that I don't need anything after lunch but dinner I always do. Sometimes cereal cuts it, other times raspberry fro-yo with skittles does.

I cut caffeine out but feel no need to cut out sugar :)

I wash my hair probably 5 times per week. I used to wash it twice a day but it was ruining the color I pay good money for :)

Reply

I always feel like I need a sweet treat after dinner, just wouldn't be dinner if I didn't. I blame my parents for telling us we can't have dessert unless we eat our veggies :) haha

Reply

I also get severe cravings for sweets after lunch and dinner…I don't know why that is! Sometimes I'll just have a piece of gum after lunch (the sweet fruity kind) and that does the trick (I think maybe it's some kind of a palate cleansing thing?) or a small piece of dark chocolate if it doesn't. But after dinner is a whole other story! Gotta have my sweets!

Ugh, I have to wash my hair every day and I hate it!! Even if I shower the night before in the morning it looks greasy again for some reason! I don't know why my hair is so uncooperative. BUT I just bought something called dry shampoo (the lady who did my wedding hair told me about it) that I am excited to try!

Reply

I always feel like I need something sweet after I eat something savory. It makes for a long day of balancing teeny bits of yummy things.

Hair washing… I went no 'poo for about 6 months last year, and it was glorious. I would "wash" The Hair with a baking soda/honey mixture once a week, but the rest of the time it was only a water rinse and vigorous scalp massaging. Fan-freaking-tastic. But, it couldn't hold up to sweat-head, so I had to choose. Running vs no 'poo. Running won.

Reply

I crave chocolate milk. Ovaltine and I are really good friends. Other than that I have made my body crave healthier things :)

And my poor hair… I am not cool like you! I need to train my hair to not need to be washed all the time. Like I literally wash it twice a day after each workout.

Reply

Ha…I was thinking about how often I do *or don't* wash my hair. On average, I wash mine 2-3 times a week. It is sooo healthy right now because of it :)

Reply

YES I DO everyday crave something sweet!
http://www.littlemissrunshine.com/2011/03/bad-self-control.html

I usually wash my hair after every workout since i shower and I sweat like it's my job. But if I don't workout that day…like today…I just take a body shower!

I love Mexican food!!!

Reply

I almost ALWAYS have to have something sweet after dinner!! (the only exception is if i stuff my face and can't fit anything else in there!)

I used to wash my hair everyday (basically for the first 27 years of my life!). But now i try to only wash it every other day! I still get it wet so i can tame the wild beast that it becomes while i'm sleeping…but don't always wash!

Reply

Those fajitas look delicious and I am so jealou you get 2 spring breaks. I don't even get 1. Oh the joys of working 9-5.

I eat something sweet after dinner every single day. Don't ever miss a day.

Also I wash my hair everyday except Sunday but I sweat like a monster pig and my hair is soking wet by the end of my workout. Tell me your secret to only washing it twice a week….I am incredibly jealous.

Those fajitas look amazing!!! I have to have something sweet after dinner!! It totally completes my meal!!

I used to always crave sugar after supper but last summer weaned myself away from it (also in hopes to improve performance) – I went 60 days with basically no sweets but realized it wasnt humanly possible to always do that! I have a huge sweet tooth but now try and limit it once or twice a week :)

I wash my hair every other day usually, unless its a Sunday then I dont typically wash it!

Reply

i just went to a mexican restaurant two nights ago! I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD!

Reply

I've had those tortillas!!! They are amazing. I can't have them in my house anymore :( I eat them all. And get chubby. I used to make one, throw some (Vegan)butter on it, sugar and cinnamon. Roll it up. devour. I could eat the whole bag in a day.

The sugar thing… For me, if I have dessert then I want dessert the next day. And the next, etc… But if I can grit my teeth and force myself to not have something sweet after dinner it usually takes 3 hard nights to get past it. Then I don't crave it anymore. It also takes not having anything sweet in the house, and not being able/willing to get in the car to go get something.

Also your supreme productivity has inspired me to get off the computer, and my ass, and get some stuff done!
Thank you!

Reply

I have dessert after every meal. Literally. Even breakfast. And breakfast is usually cheesecake.

Oh, and I was my hair every day – twice if I work out. I can probably count on my hands the amount of times I haven't washed my hair. I'm pretty gross if I don't.

Reply

I wash my hair 3 times a week. Anymore than that, it gets limp. I like BIG hair. :)
LOVE Mexican food…fajitas are a personal favorite….especially with shrimp!
I try not to eat sweets after meals. If I have something sweet after dinner, then I want something sweet after dinner the next night. Then after the breakfast the next day…then lunch….you get the idea. :)

Reply

Haha, I just posted a mexican wrap for lunch yesterday– those tortillas look 10x better than mine do, though :(

I ALSO need something sweet after lunch and dinner! I think because growing up we always had fresh baked goods in the house (my mom loveddd to bake) I always 'finished' a meal with a little something sweet…whether a brownie or ice cream, or just some fruit sorbet or a few starbursts. NEED my sugar :)

Reply

I love coffee so I make sure to drink they 1/2 caff kind.

I just gave up sweets/desserts after dinner for lent, so that answers your question!

I wash my hair 5x's a week. way more than my stylist would like me too!

Reply

p.s. mexican food is my most favorite thing to eat!!

Holy cow what a productive morning! I wash mine mostly every day, I have fine, straight, yet lots of it hair that looks yuck if I don't. Plus my scalp sweats when I run, doesn't yours? I love sweets, but they don't love me, ugh. I am having some natural brand (Back to Nature) oreo-type cookies right now. They are better than REAL oreos, wow!

Love your posts! Also I figured it out where I recognize you! You werein hawaii with my sister chelsea foutz! So fun I love hawaii

I only wash my hair when I have to. Haha, so about 2 or 3 times a week. Lets be honest…I have no shame in the dirty ponytail!

When I started training for my first triathlon years ago, I cut out all sugar and a lot of refined foods. Since then, it hasn't really come back. I eat boat loads of fruit for the sweetness, and then I just eat what feels good. And it usually isn't sugar!

Reply

I cut sugar out of my diet two weeks ago. I eat plenty of fruit, whole grains, etc. but none of the white stuff. I crave it less but I also don't have any in the house and I'm a homebody so it's not an issue.

I wash my hair every day. I would like to train it to go longer but I sweat so much during my runs I wouldn't want to skip the full shower afterward.

Reply

Lucky you for having two breaks! I've been loving my break – I've slept in & gotten tons of things done during the day.
I always have something sweet after dinner, but I usually wait an hour or two, so it's like a after dinner sweet snack.
I wash my hair 2-3 times a week max. I washed it today before my haircut because I had gone running and didn't want her to think I was gross.

Reply

Raw tortillas you can make yourself? Genius!

Reply

Not gonna lie… I am the same as you. After lunch I don't need sweets. After dinner is a completely different story!

I know I can train my body to not have certain things, but I have learned that life is too much about enjoying, and less about being rigid. (Moderation is key!) But still, I would rather not just force myself "just because"

Not gonna lie, I HAVE To wash my hair every day. I think a shower also helps me feel more womanly and confident. I don't know… it's weird. I wish I was more like you!

Reply

Haha when I'm not working out (which I haven't been recently) I wash my hair like 2-3 times a week. I'm so lazy about showernig sometmes its' gross. Let's also not talk about how often I do my laundry… I just did it for hte second time this quarter (and it's near the end of week 10. Oops?)

Rocky road is my favorite ice cream so jealous! My dad hates the marshmallows, he says they're weird and squishy. I think they're delicious ;)

That ice cream looks so good!! I want some!!!

I always want something sweet after both lunch and dinner! I eat an apple for desert at lunch, but after dinner I eat whatever desert I want!

I don't have to wash my hair that often, it doesn't get that greasy… I'm lucky, I guess!

PS- I might need to change professions and become a teacher! I want Spring Break!!!

Reply

I wash my hair everyday, which I used to think was normal (and by used to, I mean 5 minutes ago before I read the comments on here!) If it was long, I could probably get away with not washing it here and there. But it's short and thin, and gross if I don't wash it.

I also love sweets and cave to nearly every craving. However, once I did give up sweets for a while and I did stop craving them after a few days.

I wash my hair everyday :)

I also crave sweet stuff after meals but I can tame it a lot with fruit or something on that order… I try to not eat too much junk but right now I am only craving cookies :)

If you don't feel like you need dessert after dinner have you always been that way? How did you train your body to not crave it?

–We never had dessert growing up. That probably trained me.

Let's get it out in the open…..How often do you wash your hair? Be honest.

I haven't used shampoo in, what, two years now? I "wash" my hair with Dr. Bronner's soap once or twice a week, max.

wash hair every time I shower. SO, 5 or 6 times a week haha.

Deserts, crave them randomly.

Don't need sweets after dinner. I like sweets for snacks after work though. Never craved stuff after dinner. :)

I also feel like I must have dessert after dinner, just to balance whatever salty/umami I had with some sweetness. But even just a small piece of chocolate helps on most days. But I naturally have a raging sweet tooth that rears its ugly head more often than I'd like. So I have things like rice pudding or gelato around. :)

I trained myself to stop drinking at Starbucks every day! It was a horrible, expensive habit and when I realized how much I was spending per year on it (in the $1000s), I slowly started going less and less. Now I can't remember the last time I had Starbucks, I just drink Peets at home.

mmm fajitas.

So i'm still addicted to coffee and diet coke. IF i've been eating too many sweets i start getting cravings for chocolate after a meal. But then if i cut back my body just readjusts.

I pretty much always crave something even a little sweet after I eat. Lately that has been satisfied by an orange which are delicious!! But most of the time it must be something chocolate-y! YUM!

I do feel like I crave something sweet after most meals but I don't always indulge. I try and drink some stevia-sweetened tea or have some fruit to subside the sugar craving. OR if I do indulge, I have something reasonably sized – like recently I had a MINI blizzard from DQ instead of a small, which saved me close to 250 cals!

I wash my hair almost errday. I have thin hair so it gets too greasy and gangly looking if I don't.

I don't absolutely neeeed anything after dinner, but I do like to enjoy a snack a couple of hours after we've eaten!

Do YOU feel like you NEED something sweet after you eat lunch or dinner? Do you cave in like me? Yes…after both, I feel some weird depravation if I don't have something sweet during the day….at the moment it is the evil girl scout cookies, those children are after my thighs!

Let's get it out in the open…..How often do you wash your hair? Be honest.
Well…honestly 1 or 2 times a week, my hair just doesn't get super nasty even when I work out. I bathe everyday sometimes twice but I am not big on washing the hair plus it stays in a bun or pulled back in a pony tail most of the time. It is a luxury of being a SAHM :)

Reply

Holy productivity!!! And, you make cooking on a budget look good!! I am always inspired by your creative juices whipping up something tasty!

I think you are more "the norm"—I crave something sweet following dinner too and I always have–prolly started in childhood where the reward for eating your dinner, was dessert!

Reply

I LOVE those tortillas. They aren't always available at our Costco (Chicago) so we recruit family members in Michigan or even in Idaho to stock up for us…my mom once brought us a few packages in a cooler on the airplane! I love your blog!

Reply

I get sooo, so so sweaty. I NEED to wash my hair after every workout! So I overwash it. Waah.

And I'm just like you. I NEED that dessert after dinner!

Reply

You made me want Mexican food but unlike you I am still at work because I am not as lucky to get 2 spring breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to have sweets sometimes after dinner. Even if it's just a piece of candy. I think I get it from my dad. He always use to grab chocolate chips after dinner because we were too poor to afford real snacks. He always complained. Ha ha. I wash my hair every day. If I am super tired I won't and it goes up, but it drives me crazy. It has to be washed every day. I have curly hair, so if I don't wash it, the friz starts to come out. I wish I didn't have to, but it's a must for me!

Reply

I totally feel you. I always crave something sweet after supper. If it's nothing more than one Hershey's kiss, I have to have a bite of something sweet.

As for my hair washing, it all depends on my workout schedule. It could be twice a day, or it could be every other day. Today, for instance. I took a shower and washed my hair before I came to work this morning. Then I have to run when I get off, so I'll shower again before I go to bed. But after that, I probably won't do it again until after my run on Saturday.

I feel way better about not washing my hair everyday after all these comments! It varies week to week but it has been as bad as 1 only a small handful of times. Whew-weight off my shoulders too!

Those fajitas look awesome!!

I like to end lunch with an apple, and I do like something sweet after dinner but I usually stick to grapefruit or a healthy muffin! I just had to give up the chocolate and sweets for a week or two to stop craving it!

Oh and I wash my hair every time I work out, so 6 times a week!

Ever since seeing your oreo/generic brand dunking post I have been craving sweets like crazy, especially oreos (thanks by the way ;-) Normally we have hot tea w/honey after dinner so it takes it away a bit.

My family loves loves loves mexican! So I can totally relate. I make these 'growingly' famous tacos (in my circle any way, haha) that everyone loves and raves over when they make them! Swear!

http://keepthefaithgoing.blogspot.com/2011/03/my-tacos.html

Nice going on the productivity. I was going to make the effort and shower (w/out washing the hair, I'm an every other day washer) but the water is shut off so now I have to/get to sit around and do nothing until they turn it back on. Boo! oh well. Toodles!

I NEED my coffee!! Working night shift is impossible without it.

I don't very often eat dessert, usually because I am too stuffed from dinner. I'm more of a salty than a sweet girl.

I wash my hair, 2 or 3 times a week. I use dry shampoo sometimes in between washing to help tame the greasies.

I love feeling productive in the mornings! You sure had a great morning! I love having dessert after dinner! After lunch I usually just have cookies but some days I am just craving candy – like today!!

I'm so tired of not being able to control my sugar intake so I'm giving up sugar for sugar's sake for Lent (even though I don't really do Lent.. I hope that's not offensive to more religious people). It's so addictive to me.

Also, I tried that no 'poo 'do and it did not work for me. I tried for like 6 weeks and my hair was so gross to me. I do have it down to 2-3x/week though. That might change in the summer. I guess I just get to a point where it's like "shower? why? I'm just going to get all sweaty again in 12 hours.."

OMG DOUGHY TORTILLAS!?? LOV ELOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
umm i wash my hair liek every other day.. sometimes 3 days.. woops! love dry shampoo-woo!!
i love sweets!! but sometimes Ill have something right after or sometimes I'll have some gum and wait a bit until my tummy gets hungry again!

Maybe we should get together for some Mexican instead? Because it's my fav! :)

I ALWAYS need to have something sweet after lunch and dinner. Husband is the same way. Usually an hour after dinner he's saying,
"So, what's for dessert??". He's not helping the problem.

I wash my hair usually every other day. I used to be an every day kind of girl, but then I had a baby…and time to do those kind of things kind of disappeared.

I wash my hair every morning, and again at night if I swim or have someplace to be! The horror, right? Fajitas tonight for dinner! But not too frequently around here. How lucky to have break the week before Boston. Maybe even better if it was the week after Boston, so you'd get your Monday without using personal time.

I'm surprised about how many people wash their hair every other day or less! I assumed that most people washed their hair everyday. I have to wash mine everyday, but that's because my hair is short and very thin and the grease just totally weighs it down if it's not clean. I don't even shower at night because in about 12 hours my hair starts getting greasy. Sure wish I could stretch it out, but dry shampoo doesn't do much for my hair. Oh well!

I am a total sweets after dinner person! THat's when I crave sweets the most. The rest of my family are not dessert people so it can be hard. Sometimes picking up a single serve candy bar at the store earlier in the day helps so that I'm just eating one serving instead of a tub of ice cream like I'd like to do!

Afternoon is my sweet-time. about 3pm, I'm craving sugar and desserts. I usually shut if up with a cup of coffee or a workout.
PS – Stop mentioning Rocky Road ice cream… much less showing pictures of it!! It's my ultimate favorite IC flavor, and I haven't had a single spoon of the frozen delight since Jan. 1. See I can't stop at just that little bowl you have… :)

2 thinmgs that I am not too prud off that MY sugar beast made me do..

I needed sugar and didn't have any so I ate honey from the jar.

I had half a bag of marshmallows for breakfast this morning.

And my spelling is terrible…

blame the candy

I'm an after meals sweet eater for sure. Lunch is a MUST, and I usually have something after dinner too. Nothing tooooo crazy. A small bite-size candy will do, but I always get that craving (some definitely LOVE all desserts esp fro-yo).

And I wash my hair everyday. I wish I could go days without a wash, but mine looks like trash without the daily dose of shampoo.

Love fajitas! Mexican/Tex Mex is my favorite to make. I actually had left over homemade enchiladas for lunch today!

I try to not let more than 2 days go by without washing my hair. The humidity in Houston gets to it pretty quick though. I am growing it out to it's been easier to let it air dry at night after I work out and throw it up in a ponytail the next day!

How long is your spring break? Ours is one week but starts tomorrow after school. It seems unusual for y'all to start in the middle of the week.

LOVE Mexican! Having some healthy texmex tonight and I have been looking forward to it all day!

I'm giving up candy/desserts/all things wonderful and sugary for Lent. It is definitely a big sacrifice for me because I look forward to eating dessert EVERY night after dinner, and I am a frequent visitor to the candy jar at the other end of my desk at work :)

I am loving your theory on training your hair to be less greasy—I feel like I need to wash mine 5-6 times a week but maybe I will cut back on a few. Hmmmmm

:)

Yes, I feel like I need dessert after dinner and candy sometime between 2-3pm. Cold turkey is the only way I know to break any addiction. I have just recently (like this week) decided to give up my Diet Dr. Pepper addiction and I have replaced it with crystal light and iced tea, so far it's going pretty good except that I wanted to cry when I saw a bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper in my pantry last night.

I wash my hair everyday, sometimes twice (once in the morning and then again in the eve if I workout). I am a little OCD when it comes to stuff like that.

Nxt time I'm at Costco I'm going to buy those tortillas!! Dinner looks great!!

I'm like you…need to have something sweet after I eat even if it's just a stick of gum!!

Let's just say I love the Tressemme dry shampoo!! I wash 3x a week. You're not alone!!

I'm going to try a spinning class tomorrow!! I'm scurred!! :)

Have a great day!! :) :)

My hair is so greasy that I have to wash it every day. If I could get away with every other day I'm sure I probably would!

Hey I don't wash my hair much either: two or three times a week. It's thick, a little long, and dry – so what little oil my scalp produces is distributed throughout a pretty big head of hair. The longer it is, the longer it takes to get dirty.

Reply

PS You should try making your own tortillas sometime. It's not hard, they roll out pretty quickly, but they are SO SO good. You can just quickly pinch off some dough, roll it, and throw it on a cast iron skillet – LOVE. Delicious with just butter!

I LOVE Mexican food too :). It's something about being able to do so many different things with it and it still seems new and it tastes fresh! I find that I NEED sweets after a spicy meal. It doesn't matter when that spicy meal is but I will automatically start thinking about what chocolate item I will be consuming :)

I LOVE Mexican food, my husband is from Mexico and his mother's cooking is OUT OF SIGHT! Lucky me, it's Mex all the time! AND, yes, I like you, crave sweets after dinner. I do give in BUT I make sure that it's 70 calories or less, that's my general rule of thumb. Bring on the mini ice cream sandwiches!!!

Reply

I might have to have fajitas tonight for dinner now. I can't get enough Mexican food and I love to pour on the hot sauce! It's not hot enough until I begin to sweat and my face turns lobster red!

I hate using bobby pins because I always forget I have them in, or just can't find some, and end up brushing them out. I wash my hair every day. I have to. It drives me insane if I don't. But I hate brushing it after I wash it.

I feel like I have to have something sweet after I eat dinner. I really need to work on that, though… even if I've already had a lot of sweets earlier i the day.

I crave sugar after lunch and dinner, although more after lunch. It kinda stinks cause I don't like to keep it in the house, but I eat it anyways cause I want it so badly.

I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. Nothing wrong with that if it isn't greasy.

Reply

I crave sugar after lunch and salty after dinner. I'm very balanced in my cravings! :)
I wash my hair every day. So sad, but my hair does not look good like yours does if I let it go after being all sweatified. What is your secret?

YUM I should not have read this post before eating my own dinner! I'm now drooling! :)

I've started eating canned fruit salad after dinner to help my sweet fix or making smoothies…but chocolate and ice cream is SO MUCH BETTER :D

Favorite comment of this post- bobby pins. Hahaha I laughed out loud.

I also HAVE and NEED something sweet after dinner! I kind of feel the craving after lunch, but can easily avoid it. At night though, it's like torture to skip the sweets. Mostly ice cream for me also.

And you can totally train your hair to be washed less often! In fact, it's good for your hair to not be washed every day. I have naturally curly hair and used to straighten it. That was quite the process. Because it took me so long to get it straight after washing I only did it every third day. And after a while my hair stopped getting greasy in between washings. Not only did it help me avoid the 1 hour process daily but it actually left my hair really healthy since it wasn't washed very often.

hair washing is so overrated. It takes way too much time. That's what hats/beanies are for :)

I'm totally a habit person when it comes to "needing" sweets—if I'm in the habit, I need sweets…but if I've "given it up" then I don't. Right now I'm off sugar and caffeine and don't need either one!

I wash my hair 3 times a week usually. There has been a time or two when it has been fewer than that….I totally agree, a lower sugar diet has made my hair not greasy at all!

Reply

I once didn't wash my hair for a month!!!! I was trying to go 'poo free and didn't wash with shampoo… but I did use baking soda. I kept my hair up the entire month and put essential oils in it to smell nice. It was a lot more work than just shampooing 2/3 times a week, which is what I do now

Oh, man, do I like my sweets. I always have some sort of dessert after dinner. Lately, I feel like I've been indulging a little too much, so Monday I started a Clean Eating Challenge. So far, so good. My system needed a reset, ya know?

But wow, do I want to just inhale those chocolate chips in that picture!

Reply

I HAVE to have something sweet after dinner, always. If I dont I just think about it nonstop, ha. I wash my hair 3x a week (tues, thurs, sun) and even that is a chore, ha, I love my skip days!

Reply

NOPE, you're not crazy. Sweets after dinner is MANDATORY!!! No questions asked!

Reply

Oh my word….those tortilla things are INCREDIBLE! They are still doughy and chewy when you eat them. Uhhh kill me now! I want one!

I crave sweets at breakfast time! Weird I know but I don't crave sweets as much as I go on through the day. I think this is why I have oatmeal every morning. It tasted like dessert! :D

Reply

Those tortillas look so good- I'm going to look for those at Costco next time I go :)

& I am trying to grow my hair out for my wedding…& I didn't know about the whole- you shouldn't wash your hair everyday thing- but my hair stylist was like WHHHHAT?! You wash your hair everyday?! That is sooooo bad! So for the last few months I have only been washing it every 3 days or so- I just rinse it after I workout. I have noticed SUCH a difference. It's pretty crazy how healthier it is & it's growing SO fast!!

I hope you keep enjoying your spring break :) xoxo

I can't believe you went without sweets for 4 months! I could never do that! I HAVE to have something everyday. The more I tell myself I can't have something, the more I want it and the more I ultimately end up eating.

And you're exactly right about the hair. My hair stylist only washes hers once a week and it never looks greasy.

Reply

I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. Dry shampoo is my best friend!

Reply

i usually wash 3x/week, 4 if absolutely necessary. i like it when its dirty, actually!

i really try to eat my big sweet treat at night, a couple hours after dinner. i'll have a little piece in the afternoon a lot, just to calm myself and perk up, but the cake/cupcakes/cookies are all saved. i dont know why i do this, and i eat something of the sort every single night. probably terrible for the waist/metabolism, but eh. rituals must not be broken ;)
