10 miles on the tready:) First 9 miles at 7:24 pace and last mile in 6:58.
I really like to try and give every ounce of energy for the last mile of my run so that I know I pushed myself out of my comfort zone
So, I go on and on about how learning to love running is all about having a good perspective about it.
I could talk for an hour about how you have to train yourself to enjoy the power that your body has to do such an amazing thing.
I tell everyone to enjoying your surroundings while you are running and to love the fact that you are out there doing something that most people don’t blah blah blah and I could go on for the next 32 hours about it.
But then I realized I am pulling a Benedict Arnold. I am totally being a traitor to a huge part of fitness.
Lately (aka the last 5 months) I never strength train longer than 4 minutes.
My list of excuses that I make up for not strength training and my answers to my whining self:
-I don’t have enough time. Answer: Then don’t spend 3 hours a day watching BL and the Bachelor (PS Michelle is not an accurate example of a Utah girl…she is pure crazy sauce)
–Running is so much more fun.Answer: Yeah, because I tell myself that. I can trick myself into liking strength training.
–I don’t want to get bulky. Ha, that is not an excuse I don’t think it is possible for me to get huge muscles without steroids.
–I am not good at it.Answer: Awesome, then get good at it…..a new challenge.
–I get so bored.Answer: Still trying to find an answer to this one but if I don’t get bored on the treadmill after 3 hours 24 minutes than something is seriously wrong with me if I get bored after 7 minutes of strength training.
STARTING RIGHT THIS MOMENTO……I am telling myself:
I LOVE STRENGTH TRAINING.
And you thought I lied to you about not brushing my hair or putting on make up for school. Proved you wrong:) Since my photographer (aka Billy) wasn’t around I used photo booth on my mac to take the picture in case you were wondering if I made a student take a picture of me. I am not that weird.
So, how am I going to accomplish such a daunting task of strength training 3x a week?!?! (No, I will not cut out my hulu addiction)
I teach PE every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So, if I can’t fit it into my morning workouts I will do it with my students and as they are running and playing sports. I can easily watch/coach/cheer on my students while I do some sets of curls right?!?! I can whip out pushups in the gym when they go into the locker room to get ready (during this time I usually am looking up delicious cupcake recipes on Martha Stewarts website). I can teach them how to strength train and do it at the same time!!!
Oh NO!! I almost forgot to post my din-din last night which would just be disrespectful to how deliciously amazing it is.
3 egg omelet with feta and mozarella cheese, broccoli, zucchini, tomatoes and spinach. Had a piece of toast with pb and bananas on the side.
Dessert: 440.2 swedish fish. Just trying to get my Omega-3’s in.
Do you LOVE strength training? Give me your thoughts about the whole ‘it’s important to strengthen your muscles and do it a few times a week’ thing.
Tell me your excuses for not lifting weights and answers to your excuses!!
How many eggs would you say you eat a week?
-We are poor and eggs are cheap and have so much protein and other important nutriens…. So, I dare say I eat about 16 a week (sometimes more).
