Books, partay’s and picking noses.

I read something other than essays about distracted driving, blogs and the closed captioning on the gym TV’s.

It’s a big step.  Maybe Billy will make me a reading chart and if I finish one whole book I will get Swedish Fish.

I have a weird obsession about sitting on the floor.  I know it’s gross but It just feels right to me.

People stare. I am alright with that, as long as they don’t say under their breath, “Did you see that girls feet? Does she stuff her shoes?”

IMG_2692.JPG

We had a spin instructors Christmas party.  Beautiful girls (and one guy)+yummy treats+funny spin stories= a good time.

P.S. another sticker chart Billy should make for me is for when I wash my hair (I did today, wahoo).  It might be awhile for me to win anything with that chart though.

We went over to my parents house because my dad made us a special dinner. He was so excited about it and kept asking if it was going to be on the blog.

He did an amazing job.  The fajitas deserved an A+.   Rice on the side with more fajita toppings with s.c. and salsa in the back.

IMG_2699.JPG

Bad food photo but awesome niece photo.  Caught red handed.  She also kept asking if she would make it on the blog.

Family members no longer call me anymore because they say there is nothing to talk about. They already know exactly whats going on in my life because they read it.

IMG_2700.jpg

Another bad food photo but awesome picture of the kids in the back.  My goal is to laugh as much as they do everyday.

Do you enjoy your parents cooking?  Who is the best cook in your family?

-My mom is the bomb.com at everything.

-My dad makes the best fajitas, jam graham crackers, grilled cheese sandwiches and pancakes ever.

-Brother David has mastered desserts such as creme brulee, homemade ice cream rolls and my favorite ‘The Cookie Brownie.’

-My sister makes the most delicious 7-layer cookies and butterscotch oatmeal cookies.   Basically, me and my sisters main goal in life is to make the other one fatter.  She always makes me my favorite desserts and leaves bags of chocolate chips open in front of me.

-Brother Dan rocks the omelets and Brother Greg made me an awesome bowl of cereal one time.

My mom is an amazing cook, and my dad is good with fried things, but I'd have to say the real chef of the family would be my sister. She can make just about anything, and if it's not good then it's amazing!

I love your nephew's face in the first photo–too funny!!

Just yesterday a friend said to me, "I feel like I'm all caught up on your life because of your blog, but I'm sure there's more going on I don't know about." Me: "Um, well, not really that much…" Sad.

Kudos to Dad. Those fajitas look awesome. Now I might just have to make them for dinner tonight. Love your blog!

hehe, my sister and I sit on the floor at Barnes and Noble often :)

my mom is a crap cook (but her side of my family owns Italian restaurants, go figure…), but my dad is decent. He cooks a mean steak and basically anything else considered manly. Although, he still doesn't recognize the fact that there are vegetables other than potatoes…I'm working on him…

I have that "Run Fast" book on the floor. Have yet to read it…

My mom is a wonderful cook/baker. I don't know if my dad can do anything but cook bacon, eggs, and sausage. I guess that's an accomplishment since I can't really cook any of those. But why know how to cook what you don't eat?

OOOOO! Your Dad's fajitas look awesome! I am the cook in the family :)

Ha! I sit on the floor EVERYWHERE – at bookstores… at holiday parties… in the hallways at school when my students are filling out evaluations… Even occasionally at the movies when there's no seats together. Guess it is kind of gross, though :)

My mom is a decent cook and a good baker, but my dad's definitely the star in the kitchen (just don't tell my mom that…)

I want to come and enjoy a special dinner made by your dad! Those look yummy!!!

My family members are good cooks within the Arkansas standards.. That means everything is fried, contains loads of salt and if it fits in the "unhealthy" category then its good :) In that sense they cook good food.. But they dont branch out and they think Im super weird for cooking some foods that I do.

those are some good books! does this mean that you're in the midst of planning your boston training? are you going to let us peek at it? i love seeing what others do for training!

Fun Saturday! I'm so sorry we couldn't get together. Let's do something this week. When do you get out of school for Christmas?
My mom is also a great cook. My dad is pretty great himself. They tag team it in the kitchen a lot which is fun!

I actually don't really care for my mom's cooking, but I will eat her desserts all day long!

I see you're reading Run Less, Run Faster- Runner's World is always blowing up my inbox about that book!
My mom always cooks, and pretty well. I think my dad is limited to toast and he burnt a hot dog for me when I was 7. Your dad is totally outshining him :) Your family sounds so sweet and supportive.

My mom is an awesome cook and my dad does the baking!

Oooh did you buy Run Less, Run Faster? Thats what I used to for my last marathon. My mom is Italian so her cooking is awesome :)

I love your boots! Maybe you could make a sticker chart for blogposts, then you could win tons of stickers and prizes :)

Reply

Oh I want to go to the book store and sit and read!! I love doing that, I could spend hours there!

My mom is the best cook ever.

Reply

I feel like you need to describe what makes up each of the seven layers in a 7 layer cookie for those of us that have never had one!

I love your boots too! At least with Uggs you get to go down a size…

I'm not huge on my parents' cooking – besides Thanksgiving. Although I wouldn't say I'm the best cook either by any means. I guess its like the pot calling the kettle black.

Sounds like a fun party!

geeze, that weekend sounds EXACTLY like mine. Love all the fun family time! I usually do all the cooking when I am at home but when I am with my oldest brother, we cook together. Like super duper fun dishes! Hope you are enjoying your rest day friend. :)

My parents don't cook too much. The best cooks in my family are my two grandmothers. They make everything soooo good!!

Reply

lol. "made an awesome bowl of cereal". i'm curious about the 7 layer cookies. mmm. 7 layers.

Okay I have a lot to say:

1. I like sitting on the floor too. I sat on the floor with my kids the other day and they all gasped because they had never seen a teacher sit on the floor – only in their rocking chairs. Sorry kiddos, I'm not 90.

2. Hair washing is so overrated.

3. My family/friends never call me anymore either. It's sad really.

4. I'm the best cook in the family – seriously.

I enjoy my hubby's cooking better than our parents'. Tonight he is making his yummy homemade pizza…maybe I'll try to get some cool food pictures and post his recipe for you. :) I have just ordered 4 or 5 running books based on blogger suggestions…I should also be rewarded if I get through an entire book…since starting my reading of blogs, I've become such a slacker with my book reading! I've started to read Born To Run like 5 times now. Let me know if you found any good books worth reading…I'll add them to my list! I notice that you are reading one about Running Less, Running Faster…any good? And one more question….what marathon program will you be using for your Boston Training? Forgive me if you have already said this.

I love your blog :) I couldn't help but notice you are wearing the cardy classic UGGS in the bookstore picture.. I ordered them online and just got them.. do they slip off your feet??? lol

thanks for stopping by my blog :) i'm gonna do some perusing around yours as well-looks like fun times!
your dad sounds like mine–he LOVES when i put stuff on my blog about him!
my dad is a pretty good cook. he raised me, so i had alot of his cooking growing up. i have to say the way he makes baked potatoes and onions on the grill is pretty dang good!

I love sitting on the floor too! Beats chairs anyway! :P
Dry shampoo is the way to go! I couldn't live without it! Hair washing is so overrated!
And those fajitas…*drool*…
Mum- best Indian food. But she is Indian, so does that count…?
Dad- can only make omlettes. In his defence, they are awesome.
Brother David- can't even make toast. Asked me yesterday what the whisk was. He is 19.

Reply

I agree with Chelsey… hair washing isn't worth it. I just bought dry shampoo and I'm kiiiinda excited. :)

pst… my watch is Swiss Legends, but I bought it off Rue La La. Have you signed up for Rue La La? If not, I'll invite ya! ;)

Ha! I love "my mom is the bomb.com" That is really cool that your family can get to know you more through your blogging. Who you are realy comes through your blog and my dear you are definitely a sweet heart. :)

I also think the floor is the best for sitting.. I feel like I get more of a.. strech? I dont know but I like it way better than chairs.

The food looks like it was delicious by the way!!

JUST found your blog and JUST fell in love- you rock! I've added you to my now never-ending list of fabulous blogs on Google Reader….I need a second set of 12 hours every day to read them. I digress. Anyway- my mom AND my dad are both great cooks..but mom always did most of the cooking. My dad tends to dive into his ethnic side- his side of the family is Slovack so everything he cooks has cabbage in it and ends in "ski". Good times. ;-)

Reply

First off I always sit on the floor and Barnes and Noble! Secondly I love your boots! Lastly that photo with her laughing in the back is PRICELESS!!!

Reply

I always sit on the floor at the book store…why not?? People probably think I'm nuts…

My mom is an amazing cook and is where I learned to experiment and try new dishes…except now she wants me to cook for her when I go home!

Reply

OMG, I love that picture of you with the book. I love bookstores. (Probably because I LOVE to read something fierce!)

I'll drag Shane into them for hours! (I also sit on the floor!)

The best cook in my family is probably my mom, but my goal when I get back is learn to outdo her! Lol.

Reply

I have those boots! Love them. I'm pretty inappropriate about stuff like sitting on the floor too. I mean I won't do it in really nasty places but I definitely do it without thinking twice. What's the big deal it's not like I'm licking the floor.

I love my moms cooking, she is coming to visit me for xmas and I plan on having her do alot of cooking, she is a southern girl, who learned how to cook from her southern mother, now you can see why I love her cooking, (and gain 10 pounds that I will have to lose when she leaves)

Love the pics of the niece! So cute!

BTW I love to sit on the floor too! Weird!

Reply

Oh man the sitting on the floor thing cracked me up. I've done that my entire life, literally ANYWHERE and people always think I'm so gross for it. It's just comfortable!
