People pay to do that

Only a few more days to enter my GIVEAWAY.

Did you see the NYC marathon?  Does anyone else get extremely jealous wishing you could be there running.  I think I might be crazy to wish that I got to pay $175 today to feel like I am going to puke and that my legs are going to fall off.

My students always ask me why I would pay so much to race. I tell them it is for the one gatorade in total I drink, a shirt I never wear, porta potty lines and the opportunity for blood blisters and to not be able to walk for at least a week. As runners we are a special breed.

I could watch running all day long but can’t sit still for five minutes to watch football.

The in-laws picked us up from the airport and we made waffles.  Waffles 2 Sundays in a row, I almost whipped out the deep fryer to make some chicken but thought that might be a little extreme.

I was so hungry I couldn’t wait for the waffles and had to whip out a Pink Lady. Palm trees, its okay to be jealous right now.

Mr. Cullinary himself made the syrup.  I knew there was a reason I married him.

Just to give you an insight into my life, Billy just flicked me with the towel and his mom busted him for it.  Maybe the madness will stop now.

I have been snacking on almonds and now they are making my FAVORITE popcorn.  I don’t think I will be moving from this couch for the rest of the day, except to reclaim my ping pong title of the house.

For my random question of the day… Do you weigh yourself everyday?  Do you think it is healthy to weigh yourself everyday?  Thoughts…

-I do weigh myself a few times a week.  One thing I do like about weighing myself often is when I do it before and after a workout to make sure I drank enough water.  If you loose lbs right after a work-out it isn’t fat, it means you are not drinking enough water to stay hydrated!!

I am jealous of the palm trees!! It sounds like not only you and I get along, but our husbands would too. My husband just whipped me with a towel, then a shirt, then came after me with a belt. All because I was wearing my new hat and scarf & singing Christmas tunes. Sheesh. ;)

I used to be a multiple times a day weigher – no joke. It wasn't good for me or my mentality.. I stopped cold turkey. I weigh myself once a week now (if that). I figure if my pants still fit me, I'm good!

Yes, definitely jealous I wasn't running today…or running at all :( I also weigh myself a couple times a week, but try not to get too caught up in the number because it can be affected by so many things…also jealous of the palm trees!

i watched the race. it was so amazing! i wouldn't say i'm jealous of running that particular race…but maybe that's cause i'm still high from my race three weeks ago…

sounds like you're having a wonderful time!

last spring, when i was loosing weight i weighed myself more frequently. mainly so that i could establish what my average weight was and be able to notice when/if it went down. now that i'm at a good place i weigh myself once a week or so…just to keep it in check :)

Um, I was CRAZY jealous of all the marathoners. Saturday night, I kept wishing we could fast forward a year so I could be running! It's funny because I rarely wear the tshirts they had out either….and marathoning hurts! But I'll pay lots of money to run many more.

I pretty much never weigh myself. I really don't want to know my weight! I've never had any problems with my weight (like…weighing too little or too much), but I think I could easily get caught up in the numbers, so I don't want to do that. I run a lot and eat mostly healthy. I can tell how my clothes fit, and I'm always within about 4-5 pounds no matter what, so it's fine by me. (Oddly enough, I weigh the most at the peak of training…) When I go to the doctor, I don't even want to know how much I weigh. Maybe I'm weird…

I never weight myself. It can get obsessive, and I would rather not know. I go by how my clothes fit. Right now, they are getting a bit tight.

As far as why we run in races, I wonder that every tIme waiting for the gun to start. I feel sick with nerves, and always wish I was back home in bed. But finishing a race is probably one of the best feelings in the world, and worth every penny and every pain.

Yep, runners are a special breed indeed :) My roomie always makes fun and says whenever I get home from my run if I'd like to continue my torture I could always scrub out the toilets in our house!

Ohhhh it would have been sweet to be running NYC today! I don't weigh myself after my runs, but at the advice of my nutritionist, I should be! (for the hydration reason you mentioned). Need to buy a scale.

That waffle looks fantastic!

I do get on the scale every morning but I don't take the number to heart!

I am very jealous of the palm trees, gorgeous!! I weigh myself a couple times a week, but if I start to get obsessive I get off the scale for a couple weeks.

hiya. I'm so glad you said hello on the blog. I've been reading this blog religiously now.. i love that you write what you do- and aren't ambiguous about what it takes to be fast. i hate when i hear about people eating nothing and just 'training hard' to get their fantastic results. duh. we're not dummies!
have so much fun on your trip!

mmmmmm, chicken and waffles! Have you had those? They are actually pretty good! Glad you made it there safe and sound. I wish i was in NYC as well….. blood, sweat, and tears is why I pay the $$. haha.
I don't own a scale but I do weight myself at the gym before a long run for that same reason, proper hydrating!

Oh I saw the marathon. Paid $4.99 for the internet feed and then still fought my hubby to watch the highlights on NBC when he wanted to watch the MN Vikings football game!

I have a Sole F85 treadmill. Not a ton of bells and whistles but I LOVE it. I would prefer to be outside but I actually don't mind doing speedwork or hills on the treadmill. In fact, I did almost ALL of my speed training for Boston on it but I usually went to the gym so I could people watch. Besides I just really enjoyed having a room full of people gawking at how one person could possibly sweat SO much!!

About weighing myself. Not very often anymore. I may or may not have been a tad obsessed with it in the past. I'm accepting that the number on the scale is not always indicative of how "fit" I am. I've been running for less than 3 years and I weigh more now than when I started. I could be in a better place right now (going from high mileage to crutches didn't help this) but I'm still in better shape than I was prior to running even though I weigh more. Oh my-you're a teacher and that was the worst run-on sentence EVER. I will relieve you of this word vomit for now! Have a good night!

I hope to someday run a marathon and be as sweet as you! I don't own a scale and never weigh myself. I never have. Only time I ever do is when I go home to my parents and it's just cause I'm curious, but the numbers never mean anything to me. I personally have seen the scale ruin girl's body image and it becomes an obsessive thing. I think it puts girls at risks of eating disorders, but that is just my opinion. I do understand that a lot of woman are fully capable of having a scale and not being affected by it. I think if you are exercising and eating relatively healthy then you are doing good! I just know that when I have young girls I don't want them to feel the need to check their weight and be a certain number. I just want to teach them to exercise and put good things into their body. That is the most important! I hope you are having the time of your life in Cali!!!! Date night soon please!

I weigh myself about twice a year… But the pants still fit!!

I like watching running too, along with other (boring) sporting events.

Like you I have no real issue dropping some cash on a race. In my other sport I regularly spend in excess of $90 per competitive event (which takes perhaps 11 minutes to complete. and you sign up for several per competition.) Suck-OH!! SNAP! So running feels like a wicked good bargain….

I weigh myself pretty often, but it's more to see if I'm eating enough when I'm working out hardcore. Sometimes if I see that I've lost five pounds in a week, I know I should probably step up my intake for the next week.

I sat on my butt and watched the race all morning yesterday, it was nice to do nothing, but super motivating to get back out there today.

When I was losing weight I used to weigh myself everyday, but now maybe a couple times a week.
