The fam all met at Chick-Fil-A for dinner last night!  My sister went darker with her hair… I love it!

I tried the wrap at Chick-Fil-A for the first time and my thoughts were that it is perfect.

The kid’s table had quite a humorous conversation going on.

And this little guy thought it was all pretty funny too!

The kid’s love the ice cream there but end up going back into the play place so it ends up mostly melting.

I’ve got 10 Friday Favorites to share with you today!

1.  Angel Food Cake.  Or strawberry shortcake.  Dare I say that I like this better than something like chocolate cake? Andrew made this on Mother’s Day and I went back for seconds.  I think my favorite dessert from a restaurant has to be the strawberry shortcake from the Cheesecake Factory.  My mom and I have had many deep conversations over one (or two) of those shortcakes.

2.  We started hiding the go-pro every now and then in the kid’s room so we can watch them play and hear their little conversations.  It’s hilarious and it’s really hilarious when they find the camera too;)

3.  This stuff is magic.  I spill on myself a lot and my mom introduced this to me.  It gets out everything. We had an intense family conversation about it the other day.

4.  Not a favorite for me personally but a favorite because now I have the perfect gift for each one of my nieces and nephews on their birthdays!

5.  Andrew bought me my favorite socks for Mother’s Day… the Super Invisible ones are my absolute favorites.  I wear them with all of my sneakers etc during the day.  The athletic ones are great for running too!

6.  The four latest songs that I have added to my running playlist—>  The Fool by Ryn Weaver,  Honest by The ChainsmokersThe Cure by Lady Gaga and Thunder by Imagine Dragons!

7.  Meet my friend Kelly!! We’ve known each other since I was 12!  She is a busy single mom with great tips!  Follow her instagram HERE!

8.  I’m deciding between two half marathons in June and getting REALLY excited to be at a race again!!!!  My last one was on April 1st, it’s time!!!

9.  They rocked their graduation songs yesterday.

10.   These Momentum wraps!  I’ve never had one before, Brooks sent it over and now I’m obsessed!  I can’t wait to wear it for my run today!

Keep your amazing race accomplishments coming in!  I love reading them.  Send them to—>  [email protected]

Tracey!!  “I ran my first half-marathon this weekend with a time of 1:48:35.  It was amazing and I am already looking to sign up for my next one!  My pup was a bit happy to see me at the finish line:)”

Allie!!!  “I’ve run casually for years, done some 5k’s, a 10k, and a couple relays, but never used a training plan and just kind of… did it.  This year, though, I decided to race with goals, and with a coach to help me to get there.  Last summer my 5k time was 28:43, with a 9:15 min/mile average pace.  I decided to run the Race for Red 5k in Orem, Utah this last weekend with a spoken goal of getting under a 9 minute mile pace—and unspoken goal of getting an even faster pace and within the top 10 women for this particular race… AND I DID IT.  Total time of 26:54, average of 8:39 min/mile, 7th place overall for women, and 2nd place for women ages 25-29 (so I got a silver medal)!  While I think I could have raced smarter—and am definitely looking forward to continuing training and seeing what I can do later this summer— I am excited to have finally broken that 9 minute mile for my 5k.  Also, those two guys I was with… Dane (on the left) placed 3rd for his age group, and Sam (in the middle; also my coach) got 2nd overall for men and got 1st for his age group! (The only picture I have of us with our medals is actually a screen shot from a video.  They were actually really happy to be there!  Ha!) It was a great race and I”m already excited for the training week ahead!”

Novella!!!  “I’ve started running with some colleagues during lunch break… I never thought it was possible for me to go further than our 3K lap (and at the very beginning I thought I was going to die for those 3K!), but after 1 year and a half I ran 2 half marathons!  The last one was the Hackney Half in London 2 weeks ago… this race will always be a great memory to me!  First of all, my very first race abroad seemed like a big deal to me (I’m from Italy, so going to London for running felt pretty cool!)… and beside that, I’m very happy with my result.  This winter I struggled with sickness, nephritis and kidney pain…so, a lot of antibiotics and very on-off training.  Still, I was able to run below 2h and only 1 minute slower than my previous half!  Looking forward to the next one and to improve my PR!”

Chelsea!!!  “I ran 2 years of cross country in high school and was plagued by so many injuries that I stopped running for the next 10 years.  I always assumed my body wasn’t built to run.  Then I read “Born to Run” and decided to try changing my foot strike pattern and found that I WAS born to run!  Of course this doesn’t happen to everyone who changes their foot strike (in fact I did my Master’s degree thesis on foot strike patterns and injury rates) but it worked for me and I soon attempted a 10 mile trail race… then a marathon… all injury free!  4 years later after finishing having my 3rd and 4th kids, I trained and BQ’d all while nursing my youngest.  This year I was able to run Boston together with my husband despite missing my last 6 weeks of training with some bizarre and uncommon injuries and that went so well, we signed up and ran our first ultra marathon, a trail 50K!  It was a fantastic experience and I had a great time, but I think I’ll stick with half marathon training for the next while and catch up on some sleep!”

I’m looking forward to yoga class tomorrow!

I’m loving my new altra running sneakers. So far I’ve only walked in them a few weeks but they are so comfortable. I’m going to slowly transition to running in them soon.

Only thing I wear is my Garmin and a hair tie around my wrist.

I loved frosted flakes. So unhealthy but so good!

That graduation video is adorable. :) This weekend, I’m most looking forward to sleeping in a little bit. I miss sleep so much.

One of my new favorites is the Nature Valley Granola Crunch (the maple brown sugar one). I am completely obsessed with it. But my favorite cereal growing up and still now is Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and I also love Honey Bunches of Oats with almonds!

I do run with basic jewelry on – my earrings are always in except for when I clean them and I usually leave my necklace on too (unless I change it to a bigger one that can get annoying when I run!) – have a great weekend!

I love reading the running accomplishments! It’s so inspiring to see different goals for everyone! I have a wedding in New York this weekend so looking forward to a little time away :-)

I was JUST talking to my friends about how we think the best desserts are the lighter ones that involve fruit and cool whip or whipped cream! Especially in the summer :) I also LOVE your sister’s darker hair and think she is total rockstar for taking on her kitchen. I’ve never had the wrap at Chickfila because I can’t branch out from their amazing grilled nuggets and three refills of diet lemonade!

Marshmallow only? Oh my gosh sign me up! Im looking forward to a picnic and my favorite cereal was Golden Nuggets!! Think it was only in England, so you guys missed out ;)

Now I need a gopro to spy on my kids! That’s hilarious.

My new favorite running song is actually an old song–Break It Down Again by Tears for Fears. It’s now in heavy rotation.

M and M caramels is a new favorite.

I STILL HAVEN’T TRIED THOSE!?!?! I need to tomorrow for sure now!

I am looking forward to a weekend without plans. We had things to do the past 2 weekends and every weekend in June is packed already. While I am grateful for time with family and friends I am also grateful for time to decompress with my husband.

We had chocolate Angel Food cake last week and it was pretty good.

I am obsessed with blood oranges and pistachios in my oatmeal, some cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom make it pop.

I have two small hoops in my ears (one in a second hole and one on the upper ear) that don’t come out. I also have a small stud in my nose that stays in. Otherwise I can barely stand wearing my garmin or fitness tracker when I run.

I liked Crackin’ Oat Bran, Corn Flakes, or Wheaties. My mother was the one who wanted Cocoa Puffs…

Tomorrow I’m headed to one of my favorite hiking trails and I’m dragging my brother and sister along for the hike. Then we’re having a sibling Age of Empires sleepover game night. Oh and my husband is gonna be there too, ha!

I grew up in Australia so my favorite cereal was Weet-bix. Love that stuff! I wish I could find it over here. I agree on the Oxi Clean stuff – nothing else comes close to comparing!

Your sister’s hair is super cute dark!

Thing I’m looking forward to most this weekend – Pacing a half marathon on Sunday!! AND having a three day weekend. I took Monday off work to get some life stuff taken care of before my marathon next weekend and SO happy to have an extra day off :)

Favorite cereal as a kid – Honey Comb!

Oh my God I would die to hear that conversation going on between Brooke and Knox, I bet it must have been hilarious. The video of both of them at graduation is so cute! Broke was so focused on following everyone, whereas Knox was just doing his own thing.

One of my weekly favorites is that TJ Birthday cake bar you mentioned a few weeks ago. You seriously need to try it if you haven’t already.

I have a bracelet that is a pain to take off and put back on. So I just never take it off. I go out to run with it. I’ll shower with it.
Some other times I just run with all of my daily jewelry, which includes: two bracelets, watch, graduation ring, and earrings.

Weekends are always happy times for me, so that’s what I’m most looking for. And my favorite cereal when I was a kid was fruit loops.

Have a nice weekend, Janae:)

Most forward to: going out for Mothers Day supper (better late than never).
I do love jewelry but never where it while running or showering or anything sweaty.
Favorite cereal as a kid was the Pac Man, which is basically just like Lucky Charms. Pac Man and the Ghosts were the marshmallows.
I LOVE the graduation song. So so cute. What a proud moment. Loved it. They are such cuties.

PS – Angel Food Cake with strawberries is my absolute most favorite EVER. After seeing your pic, it went right on my grocery list. I now need one.

I love angel food cake too, it’s my favorite kind of cake! Unless we are talking about ice cream cake. Ice cream cake > every other kind of cake.

I am most looking forward to a relaxing weekend, filled with running and spending time together as a family! We don’t have anything really out of the ordinary happening, but sometimes I love those kinds of weekends most.

I don’t wear much jewelry while running, just wedding ring and a necklace my mom got for me. I’m a pretty simple kind of gal. :)

We are taking an OOT day trip tomorrow and I’m excited to relax and get away for a little while! Hope you guys have a good weekend.

Oh that is awesome Sam!! ENJOY every second:)

I am most looking forward to actually having a bunch of free time this weekend! To just read, clean, and catch up on life. I just wear my engagement ring when I run/workout. My favorite cereal as a kid was oreo o’s!

I like the Chick-fil-A wraps a lot. If we stop there, I tend to get one. Ha, I guess that’s good the kids were playing and the ice cream melted. I feel like a lot of fast food restaurants have gotten rid of their play places though. Maybe that’s just over on the East coast.

Reply

First, who likes corn pops? You’re weird. I have bought the all marshmallow cereal for Ross before. Let’s face it, he eats like a child. Speaking of eating like a child, if your kid goes to play and leaves their ice cream to melt, it is your motherly, nay HUMAN duty to eat it for them. I can’t even think of another reason why I even had kids other than to finish their food.

Also, remember how my in laws frost angel food cake? That is how they eat it. No whipped cream. No berries. The eat it with frosting. It was quite the hurdle for me to overcome when we got married. We almost didn’t make it.

We are having a sleep over bday party for my almost 10 year son tonight! And I’m hoping to surprise the hubs with a date night on Sat :)

Other than a watch, I always wear my Silpada cross necklace https://www.silpada.com/jewelry/simplex-cross-necklace/simplex-cross-necklace/16hw2d

Do you remember Rice Crispy Treats cereal? Yeah, that was probably my fav ;)

I LOVE the necklace you wear… gorgeous! I hope the sleepover party goes well and enjoy your date tomorrow. I totally forgot about that cereal Marissa until you guys reminded me… thank you!

I love when you post the running accomplishments — they’re so inspiring! I’m going to go home today and figure out my next few races and get to really get back into training. Got in some speedwork last night and I loved it! Excited to start doing more of it.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend and relaxing! I worked last weekend, so it will be nice to have a full two days off. Actually more, because I plan on leaving work here in about a half hour at lunch ;)

Have a great weekend!

I lovvvvve angel food cake with strawberries. So delicious! :) This weekend some friends and I are having dinner at a new place in town–it’s supposed to be really good.

Reply

Oh that sounds perfect… enjoy Denise and I hope you get some angel food cake with strawberries very soon!

LOVE the running accomplishments, you guys are Super Stars!!

I tear up (happy tears), whenever I see kids in a concert, I don’t know why. Brooke is following so closely and Knox’s foot stomp is hysterical as well as Andrews muffled chuckles. The kids will die laughing watching this when they’re older :)

Reply

I’m doing the AF Canyon 10k! You should totally do the half!

Reply

YOU ARE!?!?! Okay, I really really want to now!

Would you say the Stance socks are better than Bombas (your favorite a little while ago)? I’m always in search of the perfect running sock. I usually run in Darn Tough, but they’re a bit pricey for everyday wear.
My favorite cereal… it changes daily. One of your other commenters wrote about Rice Crispies Treats cereal — that stuff was fantastic! Lately I’ve been loving Raisin Bran Crunch.

Reply

HEY!!! Hmmmm for winter running I like Bombas better (they give you a little bit more warmth) and for summer I like Stance better. I really love their no-show socks the best which aren’t for running but just for the rest of your life:) Ohhhh Rice Crispies Treats Cereal… such good memories:) I hope you have a great weekend!

Reply

You too, Janae!! Maybe I’ll try a pair of each. Thanks for responding!!

Stance socks are the best socks! Ha! There are so many different lengths and thicknesses to try. I have them all and love them all! There is a store down the street from me and anytime I need Birthday gifts, I go there! Everyone loves getting them!

Thank you so much for adding, and continuing to feature everyone’s accomplishments on Fridays. It is so nice to “hear” people talking with such pride about themselves. So often, people focus on the negative or don’t feel like they should talk highly of themselves. Everyone should be their own biggest cheerleader every day and I think that your Friday Accomplishments really help bring that out!
