My feature with OLD NAVY active gear and what inspires YOU in 2017!!

***Old Navy is featuring me this month as a leader in active living and inspiration for staying active this New Year!  You can see all of the photos HERE!!! I have been so excited to tell you about this!***

I’ve got a few stories to share with you today along with my favorite pieces from the Old Navy active line that keep me dry, warm and beyond comfortable. Everything in their active line is SO cute, which keeps me motivated, and is always a super great deal! Old Navy active gear is absolutely perfect for everything from running to stretching to strength training.  This post is sponsored by Old Navy.

It is 2017 (I swear we were celebrating y2k not that long ago and somehow we are in 2017?).  The start of a new year always has me thinking a lot about different things that are important to me in my life.  My relationships, my core beliefs and values, where I am in life and where I would like to go and of course, running.

Running has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember.  I have memories of watching the Price Is Right when I was just a little girl next to my mom on the treadmill doing her 3 mile run/walk each morning.  My older brother was a big time cross country runner.  I would ride my bike with him for some of his workouts when I was eight.  I thought it was pretty cool that I could keep up with him during some of his fast intervals on the running trails;)  A few years later I would go out with my sister for her evening runs (because there is safety in numbers) and those twenty sevenish minutes together out on our 3 mile loop meant the world to me.  Those runs brought me confidence and I learned how good it felt to move my body and sweat.

Over the years running has played many different roles depending on where I am at in my life.  My mom reminded me last week about my need/love/craving for running when I was a senior in high school.  At that time my mom had been in Florida for a very long time because one of my brothers was living there and struggling with the disease Guillain-Barre (when your body’s immune system attacks your nerves… it is a miracle he survived).  My brother was in the hospital for months and she was there helping him, his wife and baby.  I called her one day sobbing because my foot was hurting too bad to continue running each week and I needed a solution.  Even as a senior in high school I needed running to help me to deal with being worried sick about my brother, my mom being gone for so long and who knows what sort of high school drama that was going on at the time.  Running has always been one of my favorite stress relievers from the time I was a teenager until now.

Running has been the constant when everything else in my life is changing, my favorite way to let out my competitive side and my best time to pray or cry or do both at the same time.  Running brought me some of my best friends and that me-time that has helped me to be a better mom (and wife now:).  It has helped me cope and problem solve.  Running has given me something to keep working towards, progressing and a way to set and accomplish goals throughout my entire life.  Running has been that thing that brings me gratitude, hope, peace and it is that thing that shows me my strength.

I love thinking about what role running plays for me in the present.  What is it that inspires me in 2017 to run?

I think at this point the thing that inspires me daily to run is knowing that I will always come home from a run feeling better mentally and physically. Knowing that the the rest of my day will go much smoother, that I’ll have more energy and definitely more patience if I run.  I love those post run endorphins that start kicking in after the first few (hard:) miles and running towards those inspires me to run at this point in my life.

Training for those races I have my eye on helps get me out on the days that I would rather stay in bed.  Attaining those micro-goals that I set for myself, whether it’s hitting my next tempo run or signing up for a 5k (ahhh), they inspire me during this stage of my life.  Most definitely I want to be the best example to Brooke and Knox by taking care of myself and my health!  Those little faces inspire me to be active.

I would really love to hear about what inspires you to be active at this point in your life!

We are in the ‘freezing cold’ portion of the year for the next few months and the thing that really helps motivate me to continue running is wearing the right gear.  Pieces of clothing that keep me warm (being cold is my least favorite thing—>  just ask Andrew), dry and that allow me flexibility with my movement are key for me.

DSC00896

(Above active gear that I could wear all day long: Go-Dry Tech-Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie (the softest jacket you will ever have), Go-Dry Mid-Rise Compression Leggings for Women, Go-Dry Racerback Medium Support Sports Bra (Run Rest Repeat), and Go-Dry V-Back, Tee for Women)

Wearing the right thing during a workout makes A WORLD of difference to me.  I literally can’t stop thinking about a piece of clothing during a run that rubs me wrong or doesn’t fit right so finding pieces that feel amazing on me while I am active, makes me incredibly happy.  I think it does for the kids too:)

DSC00800

Old Navy active gear has the CUTEST things but as we all know function is HUGE for running and that is what is amazing about these pieces I am showing you today!  I don’t know about you but when I am low on motivation or needing some help to get out the door, new running clothes always helps!

The kid’s active gear is beyond amazing too.

(The kids are wearing—>  Brooke:  Full-Zip Performance Running VestGo-Dry Reflective 1/4-Zip PulloverGo-Dry Reflective Leggings. Knox: Go-Dry Full-Zip JacketGo-Dry Tech-Fleece PantsFitted Base Layer Shirt)

Brooke was pretty happy to have thumbholes in her jacket for her first time ever.  Thumbholes just make me happy and strangely enough, they make a 4 year old happy too.

Let’s talk about a few of my favorite pieces from the Old Navy active gear!  Clothing that you can run in, play with the kids in, live in, be comfortable in and be active in = my favorite type of clothing.

A little bit about the different Old Navy Technology I’m showing you today:

Go-Dry=  Sweat without wet

Go-Warm:  Bring the heat, no matter the weather!

The Go-Dry Tech-Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie is the softest jacket (the fleece lining is amazing) ever.  I love the length of it especially.  The sleeves were long enough (with thumbholes) and it is long enough that it goes a little bit over my hips (my favorite).  The fleece on the hoodie will keep you so warm during these winter months.  I love the grey with the color-blocked panels in the Go-Dry High-Rise Color-Block Compression Tights.  The compression tights will keep you chafe-free, dry and beyond comfortable especially with the thick waistband!   These tights also come in Icy Aqua which I love!  The Go-Dry Medium-Support Long-Line Sports Bra is amazing and so adorable.  The sports bra is longer with mesh panels in the front and back to create a breathable sports bra.  The bra has molded cups with built-in padding (yay) and I love the pattern.

Jan17075 Train SOC 01 00652

The Go-Dry V-Back Tee for Women has quickly turned into my favorite top to wear this winter.  I can wear it for strength workouts, stretching workings and as an awesome base layer under a coat during my winter runs.  It is so soft you will not want to take it off.  I absolutely love the back detail of this top.  Get it now.. oh and it also has those thumbholes we all love.  The  Go-Dry Cool Mid-Rise Lattice-Work Yoga Tights for Women are perfect for your next yoga session.  The Lattice-work detail on the outer calf is so cute and the material is so soft and also moisture wicking.

Below I have the Go-Dry Mid-Rise Compression LeggingsGo-Dry Tech-Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie in fuchsia along with the Go-Dry V-Back Tee for Women and Go-Dry Racerback Medium Support Sports Bra—> Run Rest Repeat.

DSC01002 2

The leggings have the most amazing diagonal mesh panels along the legs to add some breathability and detail to your tights!  The leggings are moisture wicking.  I love running in these leggings… and wearing them all around;)

DSC00900

A few more pieces I wanted to tell you about:

*I am also LOVING this Go-Dry Funnel-Neck Pullover for winter running.  It is the PERFECT base layer for your winter runs and great solo for your spring runs up ahead.  I love the bright color (Red It Neon is what I have), the hood and the smooth go-warm technology that keeps you warm!

*These Go-Dry Cool Mid-Rise Fitted Running Tights are so beyond comfortable. I love the thick waistband and of course what it says (Run Rest Repeat) on the side of the lower leg is perfect for us.   There is a zippered pocket on the back at the waist for some things you need during your run.

*Go-Dry Performance 1/4 Zip Pullove(this is Andrew’s favorite) that makes the perfect base layer for the really cold days or wear all on it’s own for the not so cold days.  It fits so well, has thumb holes and the mock-turtleneck collar is perfect to run in this time of year.

There ya have it folks!! We are all ready to keep running this winter now!

Runners don’t hibernate so prepare yourself well with these awesome active gear items from Old Navy to keep enjoying those runs of yours!

DSC01032

Yes, they are more flexible than I am but I’m working on it!

DSC00870

If I have one tip for us this year for our running in 2017 it would be to focus on where we are IN THE MOMENT!  Whether we are doubting ourselves about being able to finish our speed workout or comparing ourselves to other runners online or our old selves… this is the year to quit that:)  We can stop the comparison and self-doubt and focus on where we are in the moment.  We can be our biggest cheerleader, celebrating those mini goals and focusing on the great things WE are doing now.  We are doing the best we can, whether that is a few miles a week because work is crazy right now, or recovering from an injury and strength work is our best friend.  We can be in the best shape of our life or building back up to race again.  There is a time and a season for everything.  We can work our hardest towards our goals in this season of life.  Whenever I start comparing myself or thinking about how there is no way I will be able to finish a workout, I automatically slow down.  When I spend my brain power cheering myself on, focusing on my goals and staying in the present, I have some of my very best runs.

A list of my favorites all in one place so you don’t have to scroll through post again to find the links (PS they are having a HUGE SALE right now on their active gear):

What inspires you to get out the door for a run?  How has this changed from previous years?

What would be your biggest running tip to share with us for 2017!  I love learning and growing from YOU!

Do you wear a lot of colors when you work out or do you stick to black/greys etc?

What is one thing you could NOT RUN WITHOUT (other than clothes/shoes)… music, your gps watch, your chapstick, your best running friend, water bottle?  What is it?

Congratulations on the feature! I actually stumbled across these pictures and wondered if you would mention them ;) They all turned out great!

I mostly wear black and grey when I run, but I like to have one pop of color, usually cobalt blue.

Reply

OH thank you Gretchen:) Oh I LOVE cobalt blue! I hope you are having an amazing day and thank you again!

Love this! So fun that you are partnering with Old Navy. I’ve always loved how affordable the clothes there are, and I really liked it when athletic clothes were added, too!

My biggest running tip is to enjoy it and not stress over it so much–it’s supposed to be something that helps relieve our stress. I spent so many years focusing on ALWAYS getting PRs and getting frustrated it I didn’t and also getting frustrated if I didn’t always hit my splits in speed workouts. I’ve learned to keep my easy days easy, always try my best, and know that it’s OK if I don’t win every race or run my fastest time. I want to continue to enjoy running and not allow it to cause me so much anxiety. Sure, I want to compete and do the best I can, but it’s not always going to be perfect. It’s a continuous journey that challenges and motivates me, and I’m just thankful I get to continue to do it for as long as I possibly can.

Oh, and I can’t run without my Victoria’s Secret lip gloss. Actually, I can’t even function during the day without it. You got me hooked on that stuff! Thank you! :)

Reply

Thank you Natalie! Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tip. I am right there with you on learning to enjoy it and not freak out over every split/race/run! Best pep talk, thank you for sharing with us! HAHAH YES… that makes me so happy that you are in love with the lip gloss too! I can’t stop. Cannot.

Look at YOU!!!!! This is so cool, Janae!! Love Old Navy :)

Thank you so much Meghan! Glad you love Old Navy too. Hope your Wednesday is a great one so far!

Wow! Cool feature/partnership. Congrats!

Reply

Thank you so much Nikki! I really appreciate you:)

Reply

AHHH! Those pictures of you are so great, and I love Old Navy workout clothes!

I think what inspires me most right now is my age. I’m 36, and I feel great. Everything works–my heart, my lungs, my muscles. If I want to keep feeling great, I need to exercise. Women lose muscle mass and fitness at an appalling rate as we age. I’m in this body for life, and I need to treat it as such.

Reply

Thank you Lynn! Glad you love Old Navy workout clothes too… the best! You are rocking it and I am so happy that you feel so great. I need exercise too and let’s keep up with it until we are 90 right?!

Reply

Congrats on the partnership! I’m always skeptical of running clothes that are budget-friendly (after having been disappointed so many times), but I will definitely give Old Navy a try!
I’ve never been able to run consistently without a race goal in mind, which has often lead to pushing myself too hard and injury :(, so this year I’m really trying to run for fun. Getting out for a run usually doesn’t happen until later in the evening after dark, so I am slowly attempting to move my running wardrobe from gray and, well, more gray, into brighter colors, especially as running on the streets – at night – in dark clothing – with my headphones in (which I need) – is a recipe for disaster. Gotta keep safe!

Reply

HEY JANE!! I have been skeptical in the past about how well workout clothes last/fit/feel that are on the less expensive side… BUT that is the thing I love about this line from Old Navy. They seem to me like they should be way more expensive for what you get! Jane, I love your goal this year about running for fun. I am so happy that you are doing what is best for you (and injury chances) this year. Please keep me updated with how you are doing! Good call on adding the bright colors for your evening runs!

Reply

Congrats on being featured by Old Navy – that’s amazing!
The need for sanity is what motivates me to run. No matter what I’m stressed out or upset about, after a run, everything feels just a little more manageable.

Reply

Thank you Megan! HAHA YEP, running brings sanity! What would we do without it?!

Reply

Congrats! Love Old Navy..great brand to be associated with. Pictures are awesome. you rock! Go girl!

Reply

Thank you so much Jen! I am beyond excited:) I hope your week is an amazing one!

Reply

Wow! Congratulations! Old Navy is my go to for my active wear! I love their compression capris and pants for any form of activity.

I must have music when running alone. I have such a mental block when it comes to running solo. I’m hoping to break through that in 2017!

Reply

Thank you Elise, yep… Old Navy has the best stuff! I struggle without listening to music when I am running alone too… I’m going to work on that with you!

Reply

Ironically I was going to comment this morning that I saw your promo when I was shopping for Old Navy active wear last night!! That’s an awesome gig. I LOVE their clothes. Great price, great functionality. I only wish they had the vest they have on the model. I haven’t figured out where that one is yet, but have seen it for months now. Congrats!
My kids motivate me to get out there and run. For me to stay healthy… and sometimes so I can just escape them for a little bit. hahaha! Bring on marathon training ;)

Reply

Oh THANK YOU LISA!!! I am glad you saw it:) I will ask… which page/model/color of vest etc is it? HAHA oh yes, the escape is necessary! I hope that your marathon training this year goes amazing!

Reply

It’s a black vest with “puffer” feature on the front. Layered over an orange shirt on the model on the front page today. It looks quite cozy!

Reply

Thanks Lisa! I will ask:) I have what you are talking about in the coat version but I will ask about the vest!

Reply

I really really wish I lived in the US so I could get some of this running gear – it looks incredible!

My biggest running tip is to record your runs! Sometimes I don’t feel like I’m making any progress but then I look back over my runs the previous month and I realise I’ve got a little faster or I’m getting in more strides and that makes me pretty happy :)

I couldn’t agree with you more, we have got to stop comparing ourselves to others! I read this incredible article the other day and it put everything into perspective – https://rulesforrunning.com/2014/10/28/thank-you-from-the-front-of-the-pack-to-the-back/

Reply

Lauren, thank you so much for sharing that. I LOVED this part: “I saw you out there, and your courage and passion and accomplishment and strength moved me to tears. Literal tears. You inspire me. Thank you so much for your inspiration.” Such a great article, thank you! You are so right about recording runs… so fun to see the progress over the months/years! Seeing the progress gets me out to do more!

Reply

Congrats!!!!! Old Navy was smart to pick you because you look great in their clothes and make me want to buy everything!

One thing though, can you confirm that if I buy all of these outfits I will be as fast as you? ;) I need to still put in the hard work? Oh okay. But at least I can look fashionable doing it!

Reply

Oh Kristina, you are the best! Thank you and you are amazing! PS I LOVED the interview with Adam that you posted:) Hope you are having a beautiful day!

Reply

Congratulations Janae! these pics are amazing. A few days ago I got an Old Navy sweater that says “Run. Rest. Repeat”.

What Inspires me to go run almost every day is how good am I going to feel afterwards. Also, I become a better person every day thanks to running.

I try to wear a lot of colors if I’m running outdoors. If I’m going to the treadmill I don’t mind wearing all black. And I can’t go out for a run without my phone, that’s how I track my distance, pace and listen to music:)

Reply

Thank you sweet Nathaly! OH I LOVE that sweater, so so cute! What app do you use on your phone to track your distance etc? I hope your day is wonderful and I love what inspires you:)

Reply

Thank you Janae:) I use Nike+RunClub. It tracks my distance, pace, splits, etc. It also gives me my total amount of miles per month. It is that good that I haven’t used any other app every since I started running two years ago.

I hope you have a wonderful day too:)

Reply

Meeting friends and signing up for races keeps me motivated to run in winter months and all year round. Plus, I love listening to podcasts. Sometimes I’ll go for a walk and then just add in some strides here and there.

Reply

Someday I am going to need to hear what podcasts you love… I am always wanting some new ones to listen to:) So glad you have those friends to run with and those races to sign up for:)

Reply

I have bought active wear from Old Navy and always impressed!

Reply

YAY… glad you love ON too!!! Hope your Wednesday is amazing and that you had (or have later on) a great workout today and some delicious food:)

Reply

How cool, good for you! I love Old Navy active wear. It’s comfortable, cute, and it dries quickly. Plus it’s budget friendly. I really can’t afford $90 pairs of tights, especially when I workout 6 days a week.

I like colorful tops and dark bottoms, I sweat so much that light colored shorts or tights make it look as though I had an accident.

I cannot run without a decent sports bra.

Reply

THANKS NINA!!! I am so glad you love Old Navy active gear too… excellent for how active you are. I like to do that combo with my tops and bottoms too:) I hope you had an amazing workout today! xoxo

Reply

Janae!! Congrats on the feature, that’s so exciting. I have to say I love Old Navy clothing. I find their pants fit well. I like their color block leggings too. You look gorgeous.

Reply

HOLLIE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You are way too nice to me. Glad it turned to sunshine and 50 degrees out on your run today! Way to go on 10×400… that workout is KILLER!

Reply

What an amazing project to be associated with. Congrats! For years, the life expectancy for people with cystic fibrosis was 36 years old… 2017 is the year that I am turning 37! Although life expectancy is higher now, I feel proud and blessed to be in such good shape (for a old CFer ha) and I want to enjoy every moment. I am trying to focus less on time-goals (I feel it causes unnecessary stress for me) and more on enjoying every run that I get to do. I also love to try and learn new things so I registered for trail running classes starting in June. Can’t wait! In the meantime, I will remind myself that I am getting stronger by running in all the snow we are getting this year ;-)

Reply

Mel, you continue to amaze me. Congratulations on everything. 2017 is going to be an amazing year for you, I feel proud being your internet friend because of everything that you’ve accomplished. YOU inspire me to be active and enjoy each step along the way. I just want to give you a big hug right now!

Virtual hug to you too! You are such an inspiring woman, mom, wife and runner. Thanks for bringing sunshine to our every day with your blog. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2017!

Congrats! I felt like ON Active used to be my little secret :)

Reply

HAHAH the secret is out:) Thank you Claire and I hope your Wednesday is a fabulous one!

Reply

Congratulations on the feature, Janae! You look wonderful.

I love bright colors in my workout clothing–they feel more “fun” than neutral colors.

Reply

Thank you so so much Joy!! You are so right… bright colors add fun and energy to our workouts:) Hope you have an awesome day!

Reply

Congrats on being featured in Old Navy! I have always loved Old Navy and one of my absolutely favorite work out tops (I bought several of the same one in different colors on sale a few years ago) from Old Navy. They have washed and worn well. They actually look much better having more wear and washing then other work out tops that were so much more expensive. I like to get something from their Active line each season. I also love The Gap’s (same company) active line. Lastly, I love love love (no exaggeration) Old Navy’s Rockstar jeans (not the sculpt one’s). They are so unbelievably stretchy that I feel I could work out in them (they move with you).

Reply

THANK YOU MARY!!! I need to try out these Rockstar Jeans now… they sound perfect! Seriously, you are so right about how well everything from Old Navy activewear washes and how it lasts forever! Glad you love it too! Nothing like finding the perfect workout top and getting it in all of the colors while on sale. The best. Hope your day is fabulous Mary and thanks for the tip on the jeans!

Reply

Janae, CONGRATS! Such an awesome feature. The pictures of Brooke and Knox are adorable. LOVE Old Navy Activewear!

Reply

Oh thank you Samantha! That means a lot to me! Seriously, aren’t they so stinkin’ cute in their running outfits… it makes me happy! Glad you love Old Navy Active too!

Reply

Awesome partnership! I love Old Navy’s active wear. My favorite leggings are the medium rise compression leggings and crops. I wear them for running, but also just for everyday wear. They always look nice!

My focus right now is “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Whether comparing my current fitness to previous years or my (slow!) times to fast runners, comparison really can ruin a day!

Black is my favorite color to wear (in a classic, not gothic way haha), so I am always drawn to black work out clothes too!

Reply

Running tip: Appreciate it. I was side lined with injury and ran the lowest number of miles in 2016 in the last 20 years of my life. Now that I am slowly adding in miles again, I just am happy to be doing it!! Silver hindsight lining of this injury is I refuse to think any negative thoughts about my running situation (I am out of tears on that topic. ha) I am just so beyond happy to be running again it can bring tears to my eyes.

Reply

Believe it or not, I used to actually dislike old navy! Now I think some of their products are okay! I sure hope one day I’ll be able to be featured just like you, haha :)

Reply

Janae. I LOVE THIS. You look like a model and these pics of Brooke and Knox are amazing. You all look so happy!
Congrats on a really great partnership!

One thing that really struck home with me in this post is how running has been there for you even when everything else around you has changed. That’s so true and wonderful. The thing I’ve realized about running is it’s the one thing that I do have some control over. Lately, I’ve been going through a pretty hard time and a lot of what I’m upset about is completely out of my control. Running has really helped me cope with that and helps provide some structure and purpose right now, in a time that I really need it. I love that when you put in the work, you see the results. Period. Even though I’m usually physically and mentally drained, I think I’m the absolute happiest (and most confident) when I’m training for a marathon. I think it really does make us the best version of ourselves.

I went to the Old Navy site the other day to look for leggings and was excited to see you on the homepage!! I felt like Buddy the Elf “I know her!” (in the cyber sense haha.)
Old Navy athletic gear has come a long way recently. I was a Lulu devotee for a long time but now that their stuff is going down the drain (while the prices rise) I am turning to more affordable brands and Old Navy has not been disappointing!

I go through phases with running (I am a CrossFitter first) but having a race on the horizon helps inspire me. I have been in a running slump lately but yesterday I finally booked my flight to Florida for the Disney Princess Half in February and now I am all about the running. I have joined the Map My Run YouvsThe Year challenge (2017kms in 2017) which helps get me running to rack up the mileage and of course blogs like yours keep me inspired to run.

I CANNOT run without listening to something. Music doesn’t really do it for me but a podcast or an ebook does.

Reply

Congrats on the feature, you deserve it. I love Old Navy.. they are super cute, comfortable, and affordable. As a stay at home mom of four girls, all those things are important to me. I love your blog, you inspire me in all things running, motherhood, fashion, kindness, marriage, family… the list goes on! Thanks for sharing all you do!

Megan, your comment means the world to me. Thank you so much for your sweet words! I hope you are having an amazing week and keep in touch!!

Definitely the feel good hormones get me out the door for a run! It was “10F” here today but with windchill it was -3F… coldest run of the year so far but my first run of 2017 so that motivated me to get outside and enjoy it! Also, the sun was shining so that helped quite a bit!
I wear a lot of colors for my runs (including black and grey); my workout wardrobe always clashes with itself, but I figure as long as I get out the door that is ok. :)

Reply

EMILY… way to go on your run today! THAT IS SO COLD and you got out and rocked it. Glad the sun was out to help a bit. Hahah I feel like clashing workout clothes look great too, whatever gets us out! Hope you have warmed up and enjoy the rest of your Wednesday!

Congrats on the feature! I love Old Navy activewear! I am inspired by my kids to be active and run. I want to model a healthy lifestyle. I ran in college and before kids and stopped during my pregnancies. It was a different season for me. It wasn’t until i had my youngest that I started to get back into running. I didn’t have the energy to play with my kids the way I wanted to and knew I needed a change. Running helped me. I tend to wear black on bottom and bright colors on top. I did switch it up my last race and wore some fun purple Old Navy legging. I have to have my chapstick when I run.

Reply

What a cool opportunity for you! Congrats!
I love the picture of you and Brooke running! I’ll be honest, it made me tear up a little bit. I hope one day I can set a good example for my kids like you do for Brooke and Knox.
My mom is my inspiration. Knowing how hard she’s worked to get to where she is reminds me that I can do it too. Now I’m also using CharityMiles to run for my grandma and that motivates me too.
I tend to wear a lot of black and purple. That makes me sound like a giant bruise lol. I can’t run without my music. I think I can count the number of times I’ve ran without music on one hand.

That’s so crazy……….awesome! I, actually, was on the Old Navy website on Monday and thought “that looks like the Hungry Runner Girl” and wanted to leave a comment. I was right! Congrats!

How do you think sizing fits? I’ve not worn their athletic clothes before. I’m in between xs and small in other clothes, so wondered what you thought about how their clothes fit?

Reply

HEY MARY!!! I feel like if I were you, I would do an xs. Everything is pretty true to size but the tiniest bit bigger so if you are in the middle of xs and small then I would probably go with an xs. Let me know what you think! Have an awesome day Mary!

I prefer dark bottoms (navy, black, charcoal) but bright colored tops and jackets (neon is most visible) and lots of reflectivity for dawn/dusk/night runs (this is a HUGE safety issue in my opinion – I often add extra reflectivity to my clothes, even the neon stuff).

Congrats! I love some of the Old Navy active line!

Congratulations on the Old Navy partnership! That’s so great! I’ve never tried the Old Navy activewear, but I keep hearing more and more about how great it is. I think I need to give it a try. Some of my running tights need to be retired and replaced with something else.

I tend to wear a lot of random colors when I work out (less matchy and more crazy-looking, ha!). However, when I go to the gym, I try to always wear a black top because I sweat a lot and the black seems to disguise that.

Congrats on your project with Old Navy! How awesome!

I love, love, love wearing bright colors. It makes me feel safer knowing that people can most likely see me. So excited to try some of Old Navy’s active gear! Also, i love running with music. I want to get to a point where I don’t need it, but for now it distracts me from how much tired I may or may not feel.

So adorable!!!! Love the pic with the kids stretching in their matching little outfits!!! Your pictures are amazing, congrats!

You what simply gets me out the door the winter? I really do just love to run and it’s part of my *routine.* The fresh air on my face after being inside at work is a nice transition before going home and starting the evening rigamarol.

For 2017 my one piece of advice is to have fun. Really, it’s running and it’s a gift so have fun with it. Sometimes I give a run an intention if I feel a bit slow to get out the door.

Old Navy fitness gear is some of my favorites, too. I find that their fit is right and their colors are nice. Usually I stick to black as a base color but lately I’ve been branching out to colors and patterns. It feels like a big deal ;) My 11 year old son loves their compression tights for basketball and their jersey’s. Congrats on the cute photo shoot!

Love Old Navy gear! It’s so underrated!!

Biggest running tip for 2017 … SWIM! Seriously … It does wonders for your body and makes you run even better and stronger. Get in the pool guys!!

You are inspiring me to get in the pool… it really does so many good things for us. Thanks for the tip and inspiring me Arthi!!!! Hope your evening is a great one!

This is awesome! I’m so happy for you…..my bank account won’t be after I go shopping. Those tights are fabulous and that V-back tee is amazing.

Congrats on the feature! I was impressed by the items so I went to shop for them, but unfortunately maybe of the pants you linked to are sold out in the smaller sizes. Bummer.

I have always loved ON Active but primarily the shirts and I love the 1/4 zip shirts (except my 6 year old feels the need to zip that zipper every chance she gets). I have a pair of yoga type pants from last year that I lounge in constantly. I have not yet found a fitted ON running/work out pant that I like yet. But I have their base shirts and a fleece. I do agree that with some work out clothes you get what you pay for but I find that ON shirts really last a long time. I have a pair of Nike capris that I bought 4 years ago that I wash and wear at least 4x a week and they still look brand new, they were worth the investment.
Although I only recently am able to reintroduce running 1x or 2x a week into my routine, I workout 5 to 6x a week. For 2017 I wanted those workouts to be the least intrusive to my family. Luckily my gym (the Y) started opening at 5 am starting Monday. I am trying to get there before 5:45 and make it back by 6:45. Maybe on the weekend I will throw in some longer workouts but I am excited to not irritate my husband by going out at night or missing out on a bed time routine. I am tired though, need to get into the routine. What couldn’t I run/workout without? I am not sure. I actually don’t think I have a complete must have!

Congrats on the Old Navy gig! I love the smiles on Brooke’s and Knox’s faces while they’re running. They look so happy! I bet you have two future runners there!

Ahhh, I miss those snow covered Utah mountains!

Congrats on the promo!! That’s awesome! I really love how blogging has allowed you and others to make a great living while enjoying time with family!

Signing up for a race…wanting to eat ice cream but still fit into my jeans…and quality time outdoors gets me to run!

My biggest running tip is to CROSS TRAIN!!! Last year I started doing barre and trying to lift weights a couple times a week. I think this makes a HUGE difference!! Not only in my running, but also the way my body looks! And, more importantly, it keeps my love of running fresh (is fresh the right word?!) I don’t feel so worn out and sick of running if I cross train. Previously I always got burnt out. But with cross training I always look forward to running!

I should really do more color…but i’m a black/gray type of person haha

I’m super pale….so the one thing i cannot run without is SUNSCREEN!

Oh yay Janae! I wonder if I can get Old Navy in New zealand.

I’m addicted to Old Navy/Gap workout clothes, and your blog!! :)

Could you write a blog post about things that aren’t perfect in everyday life? As you know with social media, we often see the best of everyone (understandably). I love reading posts from my favourite bloggers about things that make them “human”– runs that suck, a parenting mishap, cooking a meal that turns out gross, etc. Sorry if that’s a weird request! I just love reading about everybody’s daily misadventures because we can all relate to them haha.

Chrissy… BRILLIANT idea. Thank you… not a weird question at all. I would love to do this because there are about 4095 that happen each week. I guess I get stuck in the mindset that nobody wants to read about the negative parts of life but you are right, it builds a connection and makes everyone feel less alone. Thank you for the idea and I will have that next week for sure!

Ahhh, the dreaded RB stairs! Those will give you a good workout for sure. Just don’t slide down the railings. Don’t.
I like to wear black bottoms and colorful tops. I have to have music when I run and some way to measure my distance for motivation. Love the Old Navy spread! Congrats!

Congratulations!!! I love Gap/Banana/Athleta/Old Navy, but I haven’t tried the ON active line yet… definitely on my shopping list once I clean out my workout clothes drawer! :)

My tips for 2017 are: have goals, but break them down to small manageable bits; cross-train (I personally love PiYo for that); and listen to your body!

Right now, I’m just excited to go for a short run! It FINALLY doesn’t hurt when I run/walk short distances and I’m just plain happy about that. For me, (slowly) getting back into running shape is going to be inspiring me to get out there so I can fulfill my goals of running another half marathon and actually completing a full marathon!

I cannot run without music and sunscreen (I burn faster than a lobster in boiling water).

Have a great day! :)

I am still so excited and happy for you. You are a great person to have represent a line of active wear. I have bought Old Navy exercise clothes for the last 7 years ish? and loved it. It’s cute, affordable and wears really well. I have some of their stuff, but after this post and seeing other pieces on you, i want even more!

Congratulations on this partnership!! Is this the secret project you have been working on? I’d have to say this is definitely one or the best sponsored posts I have ever read (and I’ve read a lot!). I know you mentioned late last year that you were looking to cut back on them, but I seriously enjoyed reading this. Like other readers, I’m always hesitant to try budget work out gear (or whatever you want to call it) in fear of poorer quality. Though, after scrolling through Old Navy’s website, I can see that they have some really nice stuff! Exciting to make my first purchase soon. :) Again, great post, Janae!

Congrats on the awesome feature!! That is super exciting. I am currently making my shopping cart way to full with some of the suggestions you gave. I have a question, kind of random but it is in regards to running so I think its suitable. Do you have any advice on running while pregnant? I am currently 14 1/2 weeks and am struggling to get back into the swing of things. I ran 2 half marathons early into this pregnancy but this last month and a half or so I just can’t seem to do it. I know you continuously ran with Brooke in your belly which I am very jealous of! But anyways, just wondering what tips or advice you have for us pregnant mommas to be :) Thanks Janae!!

LOVE this, Janae! Congrats on such an amazing feature on the Old Navy website, and thank you for sharing your love for running along with all this amazing workout apparel with us! I hope you have a fabulous rest of your week, and a happy & healthy 2017!!

This is cooler than cool! I opened my Old Navy email today, and there you were! Old Navy Active is such a great brand & it’s very exciting to see you repping them. One of my favorite things is to order certain pieces in Tall size (even though I’m only 5’5″) so that I get a longer top or higher rise on leggings, and they don’t upcharge for Tall.
I wear lots of colors now, but when I first started running, I always picked white (gimme a break, it was the early 90s).

These
Ok great except I am so tired of major companies excluding larger sizes esp in workout gear.
