Stories from my iPhone.

Happy Wednesday!!! I’ve got a bunch of pictures from my phone that I haven’t shared with you yet so let’s just go ahead and start off with this morning eyes and chocolate chip pancake one.

*We saw Trolls last week and when we walked into the theater we realized it was a recliner filled theater.  The kids felt pretty cool.  Also, they loved the movie and the soundtrack is pretty much the only thing we listen to in the car now.

IMG 1718

*Knox and I had our first one-on-one date!  Usually we are all together or Brooke is there too but it was really nice to just have some time with him.  Andrew and I have decided we want to make this a thing (he goes on a little date with Brooke and I’ll take Knox out) for our family to continue the blending.  They love the one on one attention and I love getting to know this little man more and more.

IMG 1839

*Brooke gets it from me… she passed back to me her ‘finished’ cookie.  Why would you finish the cookie if the icing is all gone?

IMG 1787

*I don’t know, I just like this picture.

IMG 1743

*We tried out these bell pepper pizzas!  They were delicious but next time we definitely need some toppings to put on them!

DSC09409

*Yep… me too.

*It is amazing how many screenshots I take each day.  This one was a great reminder:

IMG 1808 1

*An intense reading of Llama Llama Red Pajama.

IMG 1731

*Sometimes we find Beretta in bed with Knox and it makes Andrew especially happy because as a kid he had a lab that slept on his bed too.

IMG 1877

*Another screenshot that I feel applies to me very well:

Screen Shot 2016 11 15 at 7 02 21 PM

*I get happy walking into her room when she is catching up with what her princess friends are up to in their stories.

IMG 1680

*Morning view most mornings:

IMG 1878

*When we go to pick up Knox, Brooke will hide under her blanket once we get there so that she is ready to surprise him when he jumps in the car.  It gets him every time;)

IMG 0457

*No run for me yesterday…  I had a quick trip to California (I was there for 27 hours total) for a project I’m working on (and showing you in a few weeks)!  Loved my morning view.

IMG 2063

*Andrew made Brooke pancakes while I was gone and she was pretty thrilled with that.

IMG 2070

*These.  I need more now.

IMG 2078

*Conversations at my mom’s counter over some sippy cups.

IMG 1990

*Andrew needed new running shoes so he got some at the Nike Outlet for a killer deal.  He agreed to join my Brooks obsession after he retires this pair.

IMG 2047

*Andrew thinks that it is strange that I eat the chocolate off my Kit Kat bar (from the kid’s Halloween treats:) first.  I do not think it is strange.

Cookie/cake part or frosting part?  Anyone not like frosting?  Have you always felt that way?

Who has a pup that sleeps in bed with them?  Or as a kid?

Since it is November and all… what is something you are grateful for right now?

I would LOVE to hear about your evolution of running shoes… what shoe did you start with and the journey since then?

-Asics—>  a little bit of running in Altra —>  Mizuno —>  Suacony —>  Brooks (which I will stay wearing for all of my running days:)

I am not an icing person at all! When I have a cupcake or cookie with icing I scrape it off! All of my life people have told me this is strange, but I’m also that person that is like “oh a plain piece of bread with absolutely nothing on it? what a delicious snack!” :D

I’ve been in Brooks since the beginning! Well, in the very beginning I wore an old old old pair of cheap shoes I had for like 10 years but when I finally got fitted at a running store they put me in Brooks and I’ve been in them since. I can’t really remember the type of started with but eventually I moved to the Adrenalines and now I wear the Glycerins!

Reply

Same here!!! The only type of icing I tolerate is whipped cream or cream cheese! lol

Reply

I don’t have just one brand of shoes. I have probably a pair of some sort from every brand and I end up rotating them depending on the type of run I am doing.

I am a sweets personal in general but DEFINITELY a icing person! Love all kinds!

Reply

The cake part is actually optional. Frosting is where it’s at. And what about sheet cakes people make that have NO frosting? That is not a “cake” that is a muffin;bread merely in a different shape.

My dog sleeps in bed with me and MUST BE TOUCHING. I put a blanket down over my comforter and he sleeps on that on me. It gets toasty. But I think it helps our bond. They sleep in packs. I am his pack, I guess.

Mizunos to Brooks – inspired by JANAE!!! I am actually fixing to order the Glycerins b/c my knee has been hurting me for some weird reason, so I think I may need more cushion. Right now I run in Ravennas. I was also looking at Ghosts, but I think the Glycerin is suppose to have more cushion than Ghosts. Or maybe my Ravennas are just too old and I just need a new pair of those. I am hesitant on getting more cushion, b/c the trend is to run with less cushion and minimal shoes, and I feel I am going in the opposite direction.

I am thankful for your blog.

Reply

The glycerin is more cushioned than the ghost. (Both neutral shoes.)
But I think the Ravenna is a stability shoe. Check which type you need before ordering!

Reply

Thanks!! I do not need stability. And I am a neutral runner. I am hoping the cushion helps the knee issue. But maybe I should start with Ghost and then if I need more cushion, then go to Glycerin. Any thoughts? Do you prefer Glycerin over Ghosts?

Reply

OH and just found Janae’s review of Glycerin 12. I think they are on 14 now, but still useful!

http://hungryrunnergirl.com/2014/08/the-best-exercise-and-the-glycerin-12-review.html

Reply

I am in the Glycerin 14 now and previously the 13. Love them! I’ve worn the Ghost as well, but they’re better for shorter runs (in my opinion) – anything over 4 miles, and I can feel the less support. I have off/on PF and need more cushion in my heels and the Glycerin provides that ! Good luck!

Reply

Thanks, Cindy!

Reply

I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice. Maybe start with the glycerins (since you are leaning towards more cushioning) and if you want something lighter, try the ghost or the launch(another one of Janae’s favorites.)

Reply

Thanks, K!!

Reply

Alisha! I have totally been shifting towards a bit more cushion for my normal running shoes over the years (I used to only wear lightweight shoes and now I just do for races/speed)! Don’t worry about what the current trend is and do what is best for you and your knees!!! Keep me updated on how you are doing and go try them on at your running shoe store and test out the Glycerins! I do love them a whole lot! Thank you for what you said, you are so sweet! Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday!

Reply

Thanks, Janae! I was hoping for your opinion! I will let you know how I like the Glycerins and if it helps the knee pain. Thanks for the reply!!! You are so sweet.

I’m not a huge icing person, and I’m very picky about the icing I do like and how much/what I like it on. But I could never eat only the icing and not the cookie–the cookie is definitely my favorite part!

I’ve been trying to focus more lately on the things for which I’m grateful because I know that will help through the tough times, so right now I will say I am thankful for my sister. She is always there for me, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. Oh, and Wheat Thins. I can’t go a day without being thankful for Wheat Thins.

Reply

frosting! always the frosting! I leave the cake over every time when I eat chocolate frosted cake :) If it’s a chocolate chip frosted cookie though, I would eat the whole thing :)

Reply

I love those licorice from TJ! Glad someone else has joined me with my obsession! :)

Reply

Seriously so good… I don’t know how I’ve gone so long in life without having their licorice! Amazing:) Enjoy the rest of your day Erin!

I am obsessed with taking screen shots of funny things as well as saving things from my FB feed. Always gives me a good laugh!!

I’m grateful that after loosing our dog a few months ago, the family is ready to adopt another one. This time, we are picking one that I will be able to bring on early runs with me. That should be great fun. My first pair of running shoes, 15 years ago, was Brooks’ Ariel. I switched to Adidas along the way but recently, after they changed my favorite model, I bought a pair of Brooks’ Ghosts 9. Experimental phase ;-)

Reply

I hate frosting! Typically I will take the frosting off of whatever I’m eating…Brooke and I would make a good pair. :) Whipped frosting is alright and I can eat a little, but buttercream or cream cheese frosting is just not my thing! Our dog used to love to sleep with us, and now she won’t. It makes me sad. :( I’m not sure what changed for her, but she’ll get up in the bed, but then hop out a few minutes later. I’m grateful for the break coming up from school…I can sure use it. Oh and grateful for the new Gilmore Girls coming out. :) :)

Reply

My mom hates frosting. If we ever share a piece of cake, she scrapes all of the frosting off and puts it to the side so I can add more frosting to my bite :)

Something I’m grateful for … My friends and family. Been going through some rough health issues and relationship issues and I couldn’t be more thankful to have them by my side.

Reply

I’m all about the frosting, especially if it’s cream cheese. No dogs in bed, but our cat always sleeps on my husband’s side, and last night we were visited by a 3-yr-old who dreamed a dragon wanted to eat him! Running shoes–started off with Nike, then Asics, Mizuno, Brooks! Time for new shoes for me right now bc I got a blister yesterday after only ten miles and I NEVER get blisters…I have been running in the same 3 pairs since February, oops!

And this is kinda silly, but I’m grateful that I finally finished writing this big blog post that’s a shopping guide for Christmas toys and books for kids! I have six kids and people are always asking what stuff we have liked best, so over the last three weeks I got it all written up (I have a 7-week-old so everything takes twice as long right now, haha!). It seriously took me forever but my goal was to finish it this week and I did! http://theirchronicles.blogspot.com/2016/11/christmas-gift-ideas.html

We also saw Trolls this weekend, oddly enough in recliner seats, too! I’ll be honest, though, I HATED Trolls! One, because trippy stuff is not really my jam, and two (hauling myself up on my high horse here) the whole message is hurtful to people (like my sister) who have struggled with severe depression their entire lives. Sometimes happiness really isn’t inside of you, and you need help to find it.

Reply

Lynn, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the movie. I slept through parts of it and I agree the trippy stuff was a little much. Thank you for sharing the perspective of what your sister goes through with me, I completely agree that choosing happiness isn’t always the solution. Those struggling with depression (just like with any disease) need outside help from professionals etc. Thank you Lynn and I hope you are having a great day. Hugs to your sister.

Reply

There must always be frosting. Always.

We have a basset hound that sleeps “at the foot of our bed.” She really likes to be under the covers, so she’ll inch her way up between us and then nose under the blanket.

Your kids are so adorable. I love the picture of Brooke and the pancake. I wish I looked like that when I got out of bed..but, you know, taller.

Reply

I have two pups that sleep with me! :)

Reply

That’s the only way to eat a Kit Kat!

Reply

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

I eat my kit-kat the same way!!

I’M NOT ALONE!!!!!

Since I can remember, I have worn Brooks-they were always my dad’s shoe of choice when he ran, so it is necessary I continue the tradition.
Right now, I am thankful for hills-life hills, hill hills, etc. because they continue to make me stronger and reveal the real “me” each time I crest that peak.
Also, Kodiak cakes for life-those things are too extra, God bless.

Reply

It’s funny because I only like the frosting on cakes. It’s always crazy to me the people that don’t LOL. I always enjoy seeing what is on other people’s phones. Since I work at a Running store, I’m fAirly certain the majority of photos on my phone are shoe pics Lol

Reply

Frosting. Unless it’s a sugar cookie, I could just eat those plain. Or just eat the frosting plain. Now it’s 9 am and I want a sugar cookie. :(
I’ve run in everything under the sun–HS it was Brooks, Saucony and I think even a pair of Reeboks? Then I went Nike for YEARS, until the shoe changed and no longer fit right. I did Altra’s for my Ultra, which were great, then I started with On running shoes and have been completely obsessed. They’re the only shoe so far that hasn’t aggravated my plantar fasciitis. Huge win!

Reply

It’s all about the frosting!!

I haven’t had a dog sleep with me, but our cat sure does :)

There are so many things I’m grateful for! My family, their health, jobs & schools we love, running friends, and much more!

My first running shoes were New Balance, then Brooks. Now I help a shoe tester so I wear pretty much anything but my favorites are Saucony and Adidas Boost. For some reason my feet have issues with Brooks. I really want to like them but I always end up with something, like an injured toe or crazy blisters.

Reply

Cooke/cake part for me. Any frosting except the whippy kind is too sweet for me (get upset tummy from overly sweet foods). I know, it’s like a death sentence ! It works great for my nephew, he loves frosting & not cake. So his Mom won’t let him ‘ruin’ a piece. So we go halfsies, him frosting, me cake/cookie.
We do have 1 of our dogs that sleeps with us. For 10-11 years now. If he hears the words “nap” or “bed” you better be ready to head that way, cuz he’s doing happy jumping circle dances. It’s just like hearing the word “walk”.
I am thankful for my health today. Just had a checkup, I’m 42, no issues, feel great…have to be thankful for that.
Shoes – I’ve only ever tried Nike and Asics. I prefer Asics. But I’ve heard so many good things about both Mizuno and Brooks. Every time I come up for new shoes, Asics always seems to have a great sale for me. One day….I’m hoping to try the others. But I just cannot pass up a good sale.

Reply

YAY for a healthy checkup!! That is so awesome Michele!!! HAHA I love that your dog loves going to bed as much as going on a walk!

Reply

Love the hungry screenshot. hahah that is so me! I just got a new pair of Nike running shoes. My last pair were Saucony and I really loved those!

Reply

Haha – I am an icing only person. I hate cake. Just like the icing. Maybe one day I’ll grow up…lol

I’m all over the map with shoes – I started out with Saucony and since then I’ve had New Balance, Asics, Skechers and Mizuno…and probably some others…I’m always open to trying new shoes!

My dog sleep with me and if I could do it over I would NOT teach her to do this!! She is a wiener dog and yet somehow takes up the ENTIRE BED!! Oh, and of course, she thinks it’s HER bed!! lol

Reply

What is it with the hound breeds? They take up so much room. When mine (hound mix) was allowed on the bed she always slept horizontally instead of vertical and she liked to stretch out really long :)

Reply

Hahaha!! They think they OWN the world!!!

Reply

BAHAHAH this made me laugh so hard! I love that they take over the bed:)

If you browned some turkey sausage and added the crumbles to your Green Pepper pizza (with mushrooms, onions, and other veggies), You’d get my famous “stuffed green pepper bites”. They are basically pizza-minis — since I quarter the Green peppers and then fill them like boats. YUM!

I’m one of those weirdos that just likes plain cookies without the frosting. Growing up, we ate tons of Korean desserts — which have like zero sweetness, so I can’t really handle the supa sweet frosting cookie combo.

My pup sleeps in bed with us — but we have a huge King and he’s only a 15lb Pekingese… so he can practically sleep anywhere completely undetected. He prefers under the covers by our feet.

I’m so thankful for all my blessing this November — having a job I love, having a hubby + pup that I love and that love me back, and lately I’m thankful for Health Insurance because I’m rocking another sinus infection (that’s two in three months – grrrr).

My first runs were in old trainers from high school. They were buried at the back of my closet and I had no idea there was such a thing as “running shoes”. It wasn’t until after my first 5K that I used a Shoe Finder website from Runner’s World to find my beloved Saucony’s…

Reply

Okay, that sounds heavenly…. we will be adding that to our next green pepper pizza:) Thank you! Can’t wait to try them! I loved all of the blessings you named! I hope that your sinus infection finally gets better soon!

Reply

I don’t like frosting most of the time because it’s so sweet but I do love whipped frosting or cream cheese frosting. We have a 10-year old pup. He normally sleeps with my kiddos but I’ve been sleeping on an air mattress since I developed a herniated disc and he’s been sleeping with me and my husband. My husband grew up with dogs so he wanted our kids to have the same experience so I get how Andrew feels about that. Hmm, what am I grateful for? So many things, so little time. I’m grateful for my loving husband who is a wonderful father, my twins, our pup, great friends who have been so supportive since I hurt my back, and family.

Reply

I do not understand people’s love for frosting. I hate it. I will scrape it off every single time! Blech. I’ve always been like that, even as a kid! My dog has his own bed, it’s memory foam, so he doesn’t mind. (Spoiled!! I love him.) Plus, there is less dog hair on my bed that way! I’m grateful I get to RUN. I want to do a half some time next year! As for running shoes, I started out in New Balance, then Asics, then I hired a running coach and he has me in Saucony! I still have Asics to walk in. I love them! I have super narrow feet, so I will never understand the benefits of a wide toe box!

Reply

Send your frosting over to me and brooke! Oh that is great your dog has a memory foam bed… I love it!!! I’m grateful for running too! So cool you are working with a running coach now and I’m excited for your half marathon next year. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Reply

Cookie part for sure and cake part usually. I love frosting though! So don’t get me wrong. Really the whole things it’s just if I have to choose. But I don’t do I???
No dogs growing up or now. We were living with some dogs but then one bit my daughter really bad and so it went to live with my sister.
My running shoe evolution was Nike, New Balance, Saucony, Brookes, TKO 5 finger things, Mizunos. I’ve worn Mizunos for 6 years and I don’t think I’ll ever leave them. They just work for me.

Reply

Also I am grateful for my little kids and my parents.

Reply

I do the same thing with Kit Kats!!!

I started running in Nike’s, then went and got my gait evaluated at a running store and they suggested a pair of Sauconys that I actually hated. I then tried the Asics Nimbus which was ok. After they wore out, I made the switch to Brooks and tried the Glycerins and they worked out well. Next I tried the Launch 3’s and don’t think I will ever go back. I think my biggest problem through all of the running shoes was I needed a good insert for arch support because my arches are super high. Once that has been taken care of, my feet have been a lot happier :-)

Reply

I started running with Nike but found Brooks Pure Connect 2. Loved it so much until they changed the shoe. :( The next update gave me bad blisters. Found 1 pair of Brooks Pure Flow’s that worked but when these were worn, the rest gave me blisters. Frustrated, I tried Newton which were right before my half marathon. First I tried the Newton Kismet and Newton Motion (rotated them). Then I tried their neutral shoes so I tried Fate and Distance Elites (which are probably my absolute favorite). I rotate them. I have recently added Hoka One One Vanquish (because I have a narrow foot), which is a great outdoor hard running path shoe. I had an IT band issue and thought I needed a shoe with some support but in time realized it was a hip issue and I needed a neutral shoe. It is all learning and trial and error. I don’t think I will change from Newton and Hoka now. Newton keeps their shoes consistent (I don’t do well with updates apparently). I feel these are a good fit for me and I like all of my shoes.

Reply

I’m not a big fan of frosting. But I might change my mind when I get to try a Swig cookie!

No dogs in my bed. They have their own. Sometimes Boy Dog sneaks in for a cuddle :) I love the pic of Knox with all his books in bed!!!

I’m really grateful for the nice running weather we have in TX right now. I’m also so happy that my running is finally improving after being injured earlier this year.

My shoe journey Asics -> Brooks -> Saucony -> NB -> back to Saucony

Reply

I started with NIkes a million years ago (more like 30) because of name recognition and I didn’t know any better. I stayed with them for the next 10 years or so because (at that time) they were narrow and high-arched and the only good fit for my feet. Somewhere between 1998 and 2003, Nike switched to a wider base that did not work for my feet. I bounced around for awhile (Mizuno, Brooks Adrenaline, New Balance, adidas) before settling on the Asics 2100 series as “my” new shoe for years until they switched it to the 2000 series a couple of years ago. The first two iterations of that were crap for me so I bounced around a little bit and have now settled on Brooks Ghost as my more neutral, shorter run shoe and Asics 2000 3 as my more stable, longer run shoe.

Reply

People who DON’T eat the chocolate first off a Kit Kat are suspicious in my opinion. Not as bad as those who bite across instead of breaking off each piece, but still.

Reply

I used to hate frosting but I am coming around to it. And I run in New Balance and LOVE them.

Reply

I am all about the cake or cookie and less about icing or frosting.
My dog is tiny (like 4lbs) and will nap with me but we make him sleep in his crate at night.
Grateful for time with family and friends…it makes my heart sing!
I started with Asics, then Addias Boosts (which I still love) but currently running in Saucony.

Reply

I’m more of a cookie/cake person. I do like frosting but not excessively.

I’m always grateful for everything in my life. But now that is November, I feel deeply grateful because I got a second opportunity to love.

And my running journey started with Asics and then I switched up to Brooks (I might go back to Asics, but not quite sure yet)

Reply

Brooks all the way . I tried Nike once and had to take them back. maybe it was just the wrong kind of shoe for me, even though I got fitted for them. never again. and just recently my husband convinced me to try Salomon and after 1 week I also took them back. I always have my beloved BROOKS ready at home, road or trail runs, they are the best . thank god REI takes them back if you are not 100 % satisfied

Reply

Cake person all the away with very little frosting (if any) But I DO eat my kit-kats chocolate first all the way around and then even split the layers in my teeth. haha!
Started with Asics, tried brooks once then back to Asics. In October I just bought a Saucony trail shoe and love them. It’s hard to try a bunch of different shoes when they’re more expensive than my weekly groceries ;)
I am grateful for my kids, boots and sweater season, and the Gilmore Girls revival !!!!

Reply

I would never leave a cookie, naked or frosted, uneaten unless there are walnuts it/on it. blech

The kit kat thing is weird Janae. Weird. Then again, how many of us suck off the mm coating or the chocolate from a milk dud, etc…..so maybe not too weird, but sort of.

Asics-a millisecond in Nikes-Saucony-Brooks-Asics-Adidas-Brooks-Saucony-Hokas. When I was in High School the shoes I wore for Cross Country were so ugly but SO COMFY. of course they were a hideous mustard yellow that was not cute at all but they kept my feet and legs happy! To me, Nikes are not running shoes (sorry Andrew). And on the topic of shoes and November, I am grateful for Gor-Tex running shoes!

Reply

Oh my God i do the same thing when i eat a kit kat. I thought i was weird but now i know i’m not alone ?.
Loved the pics.

Reply

I thought that was the only way to eat KitKat bars! My family thinks I’m weird. ;)
I used to be loyal to Nike. Then went to new Balance when I noticed better support. My newest edition is Brooks launch 3 and love them!

Reply

I LOVED that video, Thanks so much! Also Brooke waiting for Knox, hiding under her blanket is hysterical!

My first shoes were Nike, then New Balance and finally Asics. I will stick with Asics forever as they fit me best.

Reply

I’ve never been one to like icing or frosting. I always scrap it off.

I’ve tried Saucony, Mizuno, Nike and New Balance but always come back to Asics. I’ve never tried Brooks but maybe next time I will.

Just curious if you would do a post of how blending your family gets along with the exes and how everyone gets along. Does Brook have a stepmom – is that hard to deal with?

Reply

Hey Erika!!! That is a great idea! We will have to do that! Expect it soon but for a short answer, she doesn’t have a stepmom yet but my ex is engaged. She treats Brooke very kindly and Brooke has nothing but good to say about her so I feel very lucky because it could be a way worse situation… It is hard to deal with at times remembering she has another family but I remind myself 4 million times after that that the more people that love her, the better. Andrew actually did the last few drop-offs and pick-ups by himself and my ex and Andrew get along really well (I mean they don’t go hang out or something but they are very nice to each other).

Reply

I am grateful for my new job starting after Thanksgiving. :)

My shoes evolution started with cushioned shoes from NB and Asics that killed my knees for years. A friend recommended Brooks PureCadence line that fixed my knee issues until it changed during the 4th iteration. Running store recommended Saucony Mirage line and it became my go to shoe until it was discontinued this year. I have a marathon in January that I need to find a similar pair of low-stack, mild overpronation shoe to transition to. Any recommendations?

Reply

I love frosting if it’s not too sweet. Have you tried Hummingbird cake? It has pineapple, spices, nuts and a cream cheese frosting. It’s one of the few cakes that I absolutely love and try to eat the frosting and cake in equal measure. (I wish my husband liked it so I could make it and not devour the thing myself).

It’s been a year of big highs and lows. I’m grateful for Paul’s continued recovery.

I’m not usually brand loyal but I tend to wear Nike or New Balance the most. (I got injured while wearing Ghosts and won’t wear them again, which is probably silly but there you have it).

My dog can’t figure out how to jump on the bed herself, even though she’s capable of it. Paul prefers a dog free bed, the cat has been sneaking in though.

Reply

I always save the icing for last. On cupcakes, I eat from the bottom up.

I have two blue heelers, one male and one female. My female is 2 and new to us in these past couple of months. She likes to snuggle with me while we sleep. It makes me so happy that she is comfortable enough to do this now, and that I have a forever snuggle buddy.

Reply

My kid does the same thing – eats the frosting and the sprinkles and leaves the rest.

I started off with buying whatever shoes were super cheap and had zero clue about how to pick out shoes. Then I wore New Balance – then Mizuno and now Brooks.

Reply

For the record, I wish those sparkley tights brook has on in the movies came in my size! So good!

My running shoe evolution has been… Asics… Brooks… Mizunos… A little Brooks thrown in still, but only short distance. Mostly Mizuno Wave Creations!

Reply

That video of the little girl! I am dying. Seriously though, food just helps all the problems. Especially if it were in the form of a swig sugar cookie. I like frosting, but I couldn’t just eat it by itself like Brooke. She needs her own frosting shooter. They sell them at Sweet Tooth Fairy.

My yellow lab used to sleep on my bed. Until she got too big and would take up the whole bed, then she got the boot.

Nike–>New Balance–>Aasics–>Nike–> Mizuno–>Brooks. I’m all over the place. Literally and figuratively.

Reply

I eat my kit kat and pretty much all other candy bars that way. That’s just how it’s done.

I started in Mizuno and switches to Brooks. I’m having some trouble with my left foot so I might go vack to mizuno.

Reply

Nike —> Asics (wore for 15 years) —> New Balance (I got them free as a race ambassador) —> Brooks. As much as I love my Brooks, I wear (and love) my Saucony trail shoes!

I love how happy Brooke and Knox look in all of their pictures; and love your “dates” as you blend your family!

Reply

Definitely a frosting person. I will eat as much of the cake part as I can to save the frosting until last. My older son finally started eating cake, but he doesn’t eat the icing. What’s up with that? My younger son won’t eat cake. Donuts are his fave.

We don’t have a dog, but we have two cats and one of them likes to sleep in bed with us.

Even though November is my birthday month, I’m usually in a funk. My mom was placed on hospice on my birthday, seventeen years ago. Less than a month later, on December 19, 1999, she passed away. She was buried on Christmas Eve. As a mom now myself, I try not to get too down this season. I do have a wonderful blessing this year, though. A new nephew was born yesterday, November 16th!!

I started out with Nike, and then I switched to Brooks. I’ve tried other brands that were on sale, but then I started getting plagued with injuries. I’m back in my Brooks, but still not running. I’m seeing a chiropractor to figure out what’s causing me to get injured so often. One of the problems is that one foot needs a stability shoe and the other could be in a neutral. My kneecap also shifts. Hopefully I can get all of this straightened out because I need running to keep my sanity, especially during this time of the year.

Reply

I love frosting but it must have a good ratio of cookie/cake to balance it! I will say that I don’t like when people skimp on the frosting, as that makes me want to eat it like Brooke (my in-laws always do light frosting. Sigh.)

I’ve always been a Saucony shoe girl! My first pair was the Triumph and any time I try a new brand I always come back to them. I’ve tried Brooks Pure Flow and Ghost but couldn’t run more than 2-3 miles in either of them (I do still love my Pure Flows for weights and core work! There’s something about being able to really feel the ground that I like.). Remembered that I loved Saucony and then deviated to Mizuno. Ended up with the most horrible posterior/medial shin splints EVER and actually thought I had a stress fracture while using those shoes. Went back to Saucony heaven again. Thought about trying the Brooks Glycerin but my husband had a meltdown over how I will end up going back to Saucony and never get my money’s worth out of trying them so I haven’t done it.

I could put icing on absolutely EVERYTHING, but my husband thinks cookies and brownies should always be icing free. (I know, I almost had to turn down his proposal when I found that out, but I guess nobody’s perfect :P !!)
I’m a huge fan of Saucony, but since we had our third kiddo and I started staying home with the kids I’ve been wearing clearance New Balance instead. Definitely not as nice, but I’m not doing triathlons or marathons anymore (at least for a little while) so they work for now.
