I have a thing for clothes.
Running clothes, mom clothes, dates with Andrew clothes (we are going on a chocolate tasting date soon which I am thrilled about), kid’s clothes, comfortable clothes… you name it. I love it. Back in my single days my mom and I used to go shopping almost monthly up to Salt Lake City to get lunch (at Jason’s Deli) and hit the mall and I of course, would spend too much money. But we always had fun together;)
Then I met the absolute best person for me/to me/with me and we got married 73 days later. There have been many many changes since then including doubling our family size, owning a home together for the first time in my entire life, Andrew being in school and most definitely different goals/budgets/etc. But don’t worry, my mom and I still go on monthly dates but it usually involves a playplace with the kids now. I definitely love shopping still and adding to my closet (because no matter what… we all have those times where we feel like we have NOTHING to wear;).
Now I just have more motivation lately than ever before to find deals while I keep up with my love for clothes. I understand my sister now… she has always been the best bargain shopper and I swear she gets endorphins from saving money. Andrew puts zero pressure on me about money but now we have a mortgage, tuition and a family and buying expensive things just doesn’t do it for me like it used to because we’ve got bigger goals now. I would rather spend the money on the kids or experiences with my family. To be honest, I feel kind of guilty for not having a budget on my clothing purchases before because I could have made way better decisions—> you live, you learn right?
I am pretty simple with my clothing (accessorizing isn’t really my thing) and I still have my favorite stores but I have been amazed by how much money you can save shopping with thredUP (saving up to 90%…thredUP customers have saved $40 million by shopping thredUP instead of retail)—> thredUP sells ‘like-new’ or ‘consignment’ items. You don’t have to dig through racks (that stresses me out) of clothing at some resale shop in order to save money. I get to do it all from the comfort of my desk with my big brown blanket and slippers at 11 pm.
I’ve ordered from thredUP for myself and Brooke now a few times. This was Knox’s first time and when we go for the baby thing… I will most definitely be using their maternity section because buying expensive maternity clothes does not sound fun (I think I bought a total of 6 maternity things with Brooke and just rotated through it all).

They have all sorts of brands with everything from Madewell to Zara to Gap. I have loved each piece for myself and I also really love the pieces for the kids. These kids are growing like weeds and clothes just don’t fit them for very long and so having the option to buy kid’s clothes at such a discounted price saves so much money. The items I pick out for them are from my favorite stores too which makes it that much more exciting.
Andrew was taking a picture of me with the polka dot box that arrived on our doorstep and Knox ran over asking to be in the picture too.
He was also very helpful in wanting to unwrap the adorable tissue paper held together by stickers. I think he was hoping it was a late bday present for him full of Legos and Transformers.

I have received many items from thredUP that still have the tags on them… but have the killer savings. A Madewell flannel is the way to my heart and especially when this one was less than a third of the price of what it costs in the store!? I got this top for $24.99 when it is normally $89.99 !!!!
Knox and I wore our tops from thredUP and his fancy new hat (Andrew picked that out… from Gymboree) for the football game.
And then a post church picture together in my dress (Banana Republic) and his adorable church top both from thredUP.
thredUP has some great workout clothes options too (because we all probably live in running clothes as much as we possibly can). Jackets, shorts, yoga pants, tanks, tops… you name it. Loved my bright pink top (I added the vest and the top was $15.99 and regularly it retails at $60!!) for a freezing cold run the other day.

I like the tea collection size 8 dress. They are my favorite company for girls. Normally I do consignment sales for my girls clothes, think $1 per piece for brands like Gap, Gymboree, crew cuts, Mini Boden, etc. So Thred up would be a splurge.
