Oh my goodness–you two are so precious together. And I love your perspective on things. Thanks for sharing! :)

I’m going to my sister’s bachelorette party this weekend, but all I really want to do is sit at the pool and eat froyo. And nap. I want to nap.

Y’all are too cute! I am headed to the beach this weekend and I NEED a good beach read, so I am hoping to get a good idea from the comments here :) I have zero siblings (step or otherwise), so I have no stories to share on that front. I am pretty good at entertaining myself though! LR day is usually Saturday!

I loved the video! you two are literally the cutest. my weekend agenda is a long run tomorrow and then going wedding dress shopping for my best friend in the entire world’s wedding! I’m so incredibly excited for her, it’s ridiculous. Seriously not sure who is looking forward to this wedding more, me or her haha.

We are about a week away from moving into our new house, so the weekend is all about finishing up all the little things so we can move next week. It can’t come soon enough!!

I’m just starting Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I loved Forever, Interrupted and After I Do, so I have high hopes for this one.

I’m so over the heat! Fall can’t come soon enough!!

Janae!! Where did you get that shirt (the one you are wearing in the vlog)? It is so adorable, well at least when you are wearing it, and I so want it.

Reply

THANK YOU KOURTNEY!! It is from Madewell last year…. they still have some shirts in a similar color. Their shirts are my favorite… so crazy soft!

Weekend includes working Saturday, but relaxing on Sunday :) Hope your moving goes great! Yay for the renovations being done!

Reply

I simply adore you guys <3 Thanks for being real. & yes I couldn't agree about loneliness, but your blog always gives me so much hope!

Reply

Long runs are usually Saturday or Sunday but sometimes I’ll get it done on Friday eve if I have a busy weekend.
Today I’m going to a friends house for a lunch/poolside get together. Perks of freelance life. Making my own hours. I’m actually doing a photography job tomorrow though so I’ll be working from 4-9pm. It’s all a balance :) and Sunday we will be celebrating my boyfriends daughters 11 th birthday! So I’ll be eating cake for sure :)

I have SUCH a stupid question: do you guys wear your rings on your right hands? If so, why?

Reply

Hey Michele! Not stupid at all! Its just the way it records video on the computer, its flipped. If you look at the pictures they are on our left hands. Very observant!!!

Reply

The moving boxes show “U-H” backwards, too.

Reply

Ha! Well, now I feel stupid :-)

Reply

I thought it was on their right hands too! I know this is very common in European countries but was a little confused while watching the vlog!

Thanks for explaining Andrew!

Reply

I absolutely love how close you are with your family! The fact that your mom helps you out by deleting mean comments is the best thing in the world!
You two are the best :)

Reply

I love your Vlogs! You need to do more of them. P.S. Your mobile site has been doing an app redirect all week so every time you try to scroll down it redirects and takes forever to get through your posts. Just thought you’d want to look into it.

This weekend is all about the long run and laundry. I have 11 miles scheduled for early Saturday morning and far too many hampers of laundry leftover from our family vacay.

I’m currently reading Gavin DeBecker’s The Gift of Fear — it is SOOO GOOD! It’s a bit of a throwback, but it’s insightful and informative.

I would also recommend all of Malcolm Gladwell’s books as audiobooks — with David & Goliath as my favorite — as they are great to listen to while running!

Reply

You both are totally adorable! You both look so happy and grateful. Many blessings to you! Xoxo

I did have step siblings growing up. Luckily, we had already known each other since kindergarten…. It wasn’t the ideal situation, but we all liked each other :).

I have put my experience to use now because I married a man who had a divorce and had two kids from that marriage. Experience is the best teacher! Growing up in a separated family is hard, I won’t lie. I think it affects me now more than it did when I was younger. However, there are definitely positives from the situation as well. For instance, I’m not happy my husband had to go through a divorce to get to me, but it is what it is and look where we are today :)!

Reply

I die these pictures are so cute, all three of them sleeping on the couch, mama heaven. I’m so happy and excited for you J!

Watching Olympic opening ceremonies is the first thing on our agenda for the weekend! I’m so excited. :) I have been doing a long run on Sunday, because I do a pace run on Saturday that is meant to tire my legs a little before the long run. Most people I know do a Saturday long run, so it makes me feel like an outcast haha. :)

Reply

Your vlogs are the best!!! You two are so genuine and sweet.

Yay for the home projects winding down and moving to be done soon! It will be so nice to feel relaxed and settled!

I’m glad you said you don’t cook much- I feel the same way, and I keep wanting to try meal planning to come up with different dinner ideas, but it hasn’t happened yet.

No weekend plans yet, probably yard work and start watching the Olympics! Hope you all have a great weekend! :)

Reply

I’m enjoying watching your family get settled – so much joy!

I’m hoping to make it to the dump to get rid of what’s leftover from our move … over a year ago :/ But, it will be such a relief to get it off the list :)

Reply

Your vlog is so fun! Keep them coming! I bet it’s really fun having a blogging ‘partner’ now. :)
I love the Arizona dress, I bought it for 4th of July and it’s one of my favorites. But really, I love all Roolee everything. And the Motto Leggings make the BEST maternity pants! I’m wearing the black one’s today.
I’m looking forward to a long run tomorrow morning at like 5am to beat the heat. I don’t mind waking up early for running. Even when it’s been a long, crazy week at work. THEN my husband and I finally got a sitter so we’re going on a date night! We might try to see a movie, since the last movie I saw was the day I went into labor with my daughter. March 2015. No joke.
I just started this book called Tribe….it’s fascinating. And it reminds me of things like blogging or running communities–we like to belong to groups of like-minded people. Esp runners, since surrounding ourselves with other crazy people makes us feel less crazy! ;-)

LOVE your VLOG! They are the best. :) You guys are adorable and I couldn’t be happier for you guys!

Weekend agenda? Tomorrow morning, I have a run planned and I have a baby shower this weekend (that my mom is hosting!!). Later, my friend from TN is coming over to hang out with Landon and I. Hopefully lots of relaxing and lots of time spent with friends and family.

Reply

This weekend I am running the Beach to Beacon 10k race in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, the race that was founded by Joan Benoit. My first time running it and I am excited!!

Reply

Loved the blog! Thanks for always being an inspiration. Normally, I do my long run is on Saturdays, but I have had such a hard time making time for it the past couple of weeks. How do you stay motivated to run when life gets super busy?

Reply

I definitely lose motivation too… you are completely normal!!! I usually just ease back a bit in training until life is back to normal! Fit it in when you can and remember running will always be there for you when you are ready! Enjoy your weekend!!!!

Reply

I’m currently reading ‘Running with Kenyans”. Such a great book!

Reply

My husband is also a little over 2 years younger than me and also will like to point out he’s not old yet bc he’s still in his 20s.
This weekend we are doing more house work.. Our past owners decided to add plaster flower decorations on the wall… so going to try and sand those down and do some more painting and hoping to get a functional toilet/shower this weekend before having to move out for a few days to get our floors sanded and finished.
I’m currently reading Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty. So far i’m liking it! Great summer beach read!

Ps you guys are adorable!

Reply

We have lots of family things this weekend. Weddings and reception, baby blessing, birthday parties… I’m not going to get a run in, but that’s ok because I am supposed to be taking it easy on my shin right now anyway.

Reply

Have you heard False Alarm by Matoma & Becky Hill? I feel like you would like it!
Have a great weekend!

Reply

I haven’t heard of it until you told me… and now I’m in love. It is the newest addition to my playlist. THANK YOU and I hope you have a great weekend too!

Reply

Okay – I just have to say that this post made me so happy! I love seeing all your big bright smiles and I love seeing the 4 of you spending time together as a family… whether you’re napping or sprinkling!
I can’t wait to watch the VLOG … but I have to because work and all :(
Weekend agenda – up in the air! I left it up to the 6 year old to decide if he wants to see the Blue Angel’s – we’ve seen them for the last 6 years and well … he’s never been that interested!
One thing is for sure and that is a 12 mile trail run with some friends …. I. cannot. wait!
Currently reading – “Goodnight Moon”, “Brown Bear Brown Bear”, anything about Pokémon and anything about trucks :)

Janae,
I’ve been reading your blog FOR-EVER. Like long before you even had Brooke. So I’ve seen you in the good and bad times. And you just look so very happy and I’m very happy about that. I’m glad you found Andrew and he found you. You guys have the right priorities. God and family. You are good parents who care about how your children respond to situations. All the best.

Reply

Kelly, thank you so so much for your sweet comment! It made me smile really big. Thank you! I hope you have a fabulous weekend and thanks for reading, it means a lot!

Reply

I have a few weeks off of teaching so my weekend is ultra long. Lots of relaxing, meeting with friends, COFFEE, longer workouts (such a luxury), and lots of books.

I’m currently reading a book the hubby bought me – The Woman Code.

Reply

We are heading to Disneyland on Sunday – yay! Well, at least heading to the hotel close to Disney. Disney is planned for Monday. Normally we just drive, but we find we miss all the evening activities so this time we have a hotel instead! Should be tons of fun!

Reply

Loved the Vlog! I married an adventurer 25 years ago and we have had so much fun together. He has pulled and pushed me out of my comfort zone many, many times and I’m super glad! Love how you’re making the necessary adjustments to become a family of five.

Reply

i always love reading your running playlists!! LOVE twenty one pilots

When I’m training for comrades, I do back to back long runs, Friday and Saturday. My husband works away from home and come home on weekends, most of the time on a Friday, but this weekend he will be home tomorrow. I can’t wait! ! Tomorrow will be a treadmill run 10 -12 km and then spend time with my husband and son!!!

Reply

I have two step sisters and two “real” sisters, but there is no distinction between them in my mind. We’ve been step sisters since I was 5 so I can’t remember life without them. Growing up, I’d only see my step sisters every other weekend when I was visiting my dad, but we were (and still are) really close. I’m sure it’ll be the same for Brooke and Knox!

On a different note, it’s only been five days since I ate pizza but it feels like forever. Need to get some asap!

Reply

No step siblings, just two older brothers. Sadly not that close. One is 6 y older the other is 12 y older and we all are nomads living far apart.

Long run is tomorrow but not sure if I am up for it. Either plantar fasciatis or bruised heel is holding me back.

“Man’s search for meaning” is a tough read but a good one. I just finished the “What I talk about when I talk about running” – or whatever the title is. I was disappointed. I found it boring. Won’t be buying his novels. Next up is the “How Bad Do You want it” book that Janae recommended.

Reply

You guys are too cute! The last few weekends have been jam packed so I’ve got nothing on the schedule, just relaxing and I can’t wait! I’m in between books right now but just finished reading ‘North of Normal’ by Cea Sunrise Person and quite enjoyed it…it’s similar to ‘The Glass Castle’ which is one of my all time favourites.

Reply

My cousin wrote Run the World! Seems like a book you’d love!

Reply

Long run this weekend – 15 miles! I am currently reading Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale. So far so good! Can’t wait to read Run the World.

Reply

Cute, cute and cute! Not taking things too seriously – good one. Oh, just thought back to Brooke’s reaction to the flat tire! Hehehe.

Hey, do people seal tile? There’s something going around in my head about sealing. If so, I think it helps a lot with maintenance. Love some good, low maintenance.

Reply

That pizza is the perfect ratio of cheese and sauce based on that picture. I agree- absolute perfection.
I’m currently reading Ready Player One- I’ll probably finish it tonight. it’s AMAZING. Seriously, if you’re in for a quick fiction read, read this! I’m not even into the sci-fi genre and I’m all about this book.

Parents usually rear their children differently.. some put lots of limits others do not?? Your children were used to certain routine or bounderis when they lived with a single parent.. how are they adjusting and how are you handling .. i mean on a specific issue if there is conflict in the way of nurturing??

Reply

I just Finished North Of Normal by Cea Sunrise Person.

Next in line –> Freedom by Jaycee Dugard (her first book “A Stolen Life” was the first memoir I ever read. It’s sad, bare, but so good!)
