They keep us on our toes and report back.

Happy weekend!! I hope your weekend is a great one so far and that you have been able to spend some quality time outside in the warm weather.

I’m usually able to sneak outside for my Saturday long run but my mom is out of town so the treadmill it was for 9 miles @ an 8:20 pace.  I have a half-marathon next weekend but things have been a little crazy around here lately so who knows how the race will go:)  I’ll keep up with running (and marathon training starts soon) BUT training hard will take a backseat for some time during all of the wedding planning. Just excited for another race with Andrew and to push myself and see where my fitness is!  PS the speakers on this thing are pretty amazing… nothing like jamming out to Justin Timberlake first thing in the morning.

My cousin (the blonde one that you’ve seen on the blog often over the years) came over with her pup yesterday and the kids were pretty excited about it.  PS this cousin is moving away soon and I am not thrilled about that.

IMG 9253

Doritos fingers…. I think she loves Doritos so much because they were one of my biggest cravings while pregnant with her and I made sure to fulfill that craving often.

IMG 9207

The birthday cake straight from heaven—>  ANDES MINTS.

IMG 9251

Just kicking back with Finn.  I’m very happy that Brooke has so many dogs in her life these days.

IMG 9229

He is quite the cuddler and sat like this for 30 minutes while we were chatting.

IMG 9248

After the birthday party Andrew got to work on grilling turkey burgers for us.

IMG 9256

I got to work on all of the appetizers.  Try carrots dipped into guac and report back to me.

IMG 9254

Try avocado on your turkey burger too while you are at it.

IMG 9258

After dinner we had otter pops and got to work on Legos and…

IMG 9260

We were wiped out by 9 pm.  Three year olds are no joke;)  They keep us on our toes.

My sister has four golden retrievers. A couple years ago one if them had 11 puppies so there were 15 dogs in the house. It was crazy!!

My training lately is just whatever I’m able to fit in whenever i can fit it in. Not ideal but sometimes that’s just life and you roll with it! I’m extra tired today because we had my niece’s dance recital last night and it was 3.5 hours long. It was good but that’s a really long time to sit in one place!

Golden retrievers are the sweetest! I’m hoping to get a dog when I move back to the states, so maybe I’ll have one soon :)

Those turkey burgers look delicious. Avocados make everything taste better. Grilling/barbecuing isn’t a big thing around here, so I can’t wait to get my fix when I go home

It makes sense to focus more on wedding planning. I’ll be excited to see how you do in the half though Janae. Good luck next weekend! That treadmill looks super nice, call me jealous!

We have an English Pointer 75 lbs 5 years old named Jaxson and a Whippet Terrier Mix 18 lbs 14 years old named Radcliffe. I prefer short hair dogs..

Today we hiked around a lake, caught tadpoles, little frogs, and butterflies, and upgraded our 3 year old from size 8 to size 9 in hiking shoes and running shoes.

Currently training for nothing really, a 5K back in America in August then right after that an 8 week marathon training before the Sofia Marathon October 9. Since 8 weeks is such a short buildup I have to make sure Incan jump into 12 miles for a long run easily. I just did a half, and plan on running 10 miles as my long run every 2 or 3 weeks until then.

No pregnancy cravings. I did have 3 Wendy’s friaries during my pregnancy, but I think it was more of an excuse than a craving…

I had a golden retriever growing up — Buddy — he lived 9 years and was the BEST dog. So, a few months ago, my husband and I got our own golden retriever, Dallas — he’s 19 weeks old as of yesterday and adorable (and a lot of work, but hey, dogs are an investment, right??!!). I love the name Finn for your cousin’s dog! How sweet!!!

Have a great Sunday!

Oh, Mac n Cheese! Everything gave me heartburn but that. We went out weekly for really delicious Mac n cheese. I could never jump on board with the cottage cheese and grapes thing, though ;-)

We have a golden retriever/lab mix (small – only about 45 pounds) and he is QUITE the cuddler. We rescued him about 6 years ago when he was 1.5 years old. Love him!

Ran 10 miles yesterday. Summer has arrived in Atlanta–>well over 70 at 6:30am and humidity close to 100%. UGH!! I’m running a half marathon next weekend and trying to remember why I signed up for it :)

Hey, at least with your cute lil ‘twins’ you got to skip the newborn stage! Talk about exhausting! (Mine are 4 now and so fun.)
Currently pregnant and craving strawberries all the time. Like a Costco sized container in one sitting :O

Reply

hahah we were literally talking about that the other day Dee! We get the fun part now and got to skip over the newborn (never sleep) stage ha. 4 year old twins and pregnant… you are my hero:) I hope you have the best strawberries ever this week!

We have 2 Goldens at the moment.Rogan and Cooper both 12.We also foster for a Golden Rescue organization so sometimes we have 3.You must be ok with fur everywhere but we think it is worth it.:-) I craved watermelon while pregnant.Unfortunately in February it wast hard to find.

I got a Golden for my oldest son when he was 6 months old. His name(the dog) is Eddie and he is now 13, he lives at my parents now. At one point we had to move and couldn’t’ take him with us. My parents only live a mile away so we see him often. He is one of the best dogs I have ever had.
With all three of my kiddos I never had any cravings when I was pregnant. I also didn’t have morning sickness or heart burn. Apparently I was very lucky!

Finn is so cute. I really would love a Golden or a Lab but I’m not sure how my cat would handle it! Today is going to be a lifting day though I may fit in an easy 3 mile run to explore my new neighborhood more. I have a 10k next weekend (first one on the road, I’ve run 6 or so on the trails.) then I will start marathon training soon after that. Can’t wait to see how your race next weekend goes!

Brooke was having a killer hair day! Totally jealous.

This is belated, but Congratulations on the engagement! Very exciting and I am happy for you guys!
Love golden retrievers, and Andes mints. For my birthday, my friends made a thin mint tiramisu that was absolutely amazing!
Pregnancy cravings were different for all three of mine. The youngest I wanted just plain spaghetti and toast. Second child was any type of protein! And my oldest was the craziest by far. I craved Chinese food, chocolate covered pudding filled donuts, and V8. That was my one and only time for that combination and don’t plan on eating that again. Haha!

Reply

I am a firm believer that guacamole/avocado goes well with everything. Carrots and guac is one of my favorite snacks!

Reply

Cravings with #1: eggs and milkshakes

#2: huge meals, like every meal was big hearty meals

#3: bread then Mexican then chocolate then donuts… Basically everything.

(Sending a picture your way soon byw, he’s finally here!)

Congratulations, Jenny!

I am currently 24wks preggers so cravings are near and dear to my heart! My favourite one so far has been chocolate caramel ice cream paired with salt & vinegar chips! SO GOOD!

Reply

Awww!! That last pic.
I have a Labradoodle but we know so many golden retrievers from the dog park and every single one is sweet and cuddly.

I’m going to run a few miles shortly and then go to a 2nd birthday party for my boyfriend’s cousins’ little girl.

Reply

I don’t have a Golden but I have a lab/blue heeler mix. She’s 1 and her name is Speckles. I rescued her from Mississippi!
Sunday: grocery shopping, cooking, running, relaxing, homework
No long run. Just 8 miles. I am running a 10 mile race in 2 weeks! I am focusing more on speed than distance right now and I love it :)
I am only 21 and have never been pregnant but my mom craved peanut butter english muffins when she was pregnant with me and that is my favorite now!

Reply

Goldens are great dogs, so sweet. We haven’t had one but there are a few in the neighborhood.

I dip carrots in both guacamole and salsa, so good. I usually put avocado on my turkey and chicken burgers. I generally don’t use sauces so I sub in avocado or salsa.

Other than quick food shopping I have no idea what we’re doing today. Storms are rolling in later so whatever it is will be indoors.

Carrots and guacamole are the bomb! The next few months will be busy for you but I’m sure you can do it!

First, congratulations on your engagement! I’m typically more of a silent follower and it’s still sort of weird to me to reach out to someone I haven’t actually met, but I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and it is good to see your joy! You do so much for this running community and I admire your positive outlook and sharing so candidly. So, congratulations again! Secondly, Goldens are such great dogs…actually dogs in general are just the best. We currently have 3 big old lovebugs, 2 of which are Goldens. Our first Golden was named Finley and he was the best dog…we lost him way too soon and I still miss him. Our other two are Iris and Bishop and then we have a sweet Black Lab mix named Middy. Bishop is a big-time cuddler and just yesterday while I stretched in the floor, he had his head in my lap the whole time. They are the best. Happy Sunday!

Reply

I have a golden!!! She is 5 and her name is Flora…completely the love of our lives!

Reply

I have a holden named Mickey. ( as in “oh Mickey you’re so fine, you’re so fins you blow my mind Hey Mickey) which I sing to him often. He is such a cuddle bug that if anyone scratches Jim he will glue to them until I tell him to go lay down. It’s embarrassing. :) got a 6 mile treadmill run. It is 103 degrees here today. Took both digs out for their exercise at sunrise and it’s already too hot. Ugh summer in the cereal valley Califormia, nothing like it.

Wow hard to comment from my phone. Auto type messes me up. My comment is ridiculous when I read it once pisted.

Congratulations on your engagement – you two make an adorable couple! I am actually flying from MA to Provo for a half marathon this weekend – I am so excited to see all Utah has to offer! My last long run was yesterday so today is relaxing and packing!

I craved apple fritters and my 15 year old son still loves them. We have had our golden for 8 years, Juno!

Reply

I have 2 Goldens named Roxy and Lacy. They are 6 and 3. I had another prior to them named Wrigley. She died of cancer, which is sadly very prevalent in golden retrievers. So sad. They are the best dogs – always happy and always snuggling. Check out my inta @mygingerlife. It’s all about my dogs!! :)

Reply

I personally have never had a Golden but some friends have…..all I remember is the hair everywhere….they are wonderful but oh so hairy!!

Reply

That Golden is gorgeous! Not gonna lie, I read that part too quick and thought the “blonde” you were talking about was the pooch.. :)
It’s so nice when distractions from racing/training come in the form of really fun things!

Love Goldens! Had one growing up and his name was Blizzard (named after my brother’s favorite G.I Joe.

Paced the 9:00 group at the North Shore Classic Half Marathon this morning … Went great and looking forward to rest day tomorrow :)

Have a great Sunday!

I’ve got two GR, both rescue dogs. I had a cat for the longest time, 16 years, literally since I was 12 years old, and she died in 2013. I was going to get a dog, which I had been wanting for years, but didn’t want to upset my geriatric cat, so I never did, and then my dad got really sick and I didn’t want to leave the dog for long periods of time, so I held off again. He passed away at the end of 2014, so I started volunteering with two golden retriever rescue agencies, and put in an application with both to adopt. There was a HUGE waiting list of course, so I went about my way training for my Ironman races last year and volunteering, and when I came back from France after IM France last summer, I got a call to foster a GR puppy from a puppy mill/hoarding situation. He was 8 weeks and 3 pounds, and I had a nightmare time with him, he had pancreatic issues and it seemed like everything he ate was coming out of one end or the other or both, from July to September. And of course during that time, I got a call about another 1 year old Golden that I ended up falling in love with and adopting. She was abandoned after having double hip dysplasia, and her family couldn’t afford the surgery so they dumped her off in the mountains.

Long story short, I went from no dogs to two Goldens in the span of 2 months. The little one turned 1 on 5/20 and the girl turned 2 on 5/3. They are the best dogs ever, they love me so much and follow me everywhere, and don’t mind coming with me to races, they’ve already been to one full ironman, one half ironman, and one marathon with me, since last September. LOVE LOVE LOVE Golden Retrievers, this one in your post looks like my baby B, though he is not such a baby anymore, he’s a fairly healthy 50 pounds now, smaller than he should be because of his health issues when he was a pup, but still so full of love and energy.

Reply

I have a Golden Retriever mix named Lady. She is a therapy dog, and she is the sweetest thing. I take her to the Ronald McDonald house, and she snuggles with the kids there just like your cousin’s dog! The only downside is she REFUSES to run with me. Literally. She will stop in her tracks if I even try a light jog during a walk. She is definitely more of a cuddle on the couch after my run kind of pup, but that’s OK with me :)

Reply

Not really training for anything. Well, I’ll be running some with my brother in law when we visit them next month and he is fast (1:25ish half; I’m probably a good 30-45 sec per mile slower) and I can barely keep up with him. So I guess I’m training to be able to hang with him if we run together so he doesn’t have to slow down too much!

Pregnancy cravings: #1 chicken salad sandwiches and MILK. He still chugs milk like crazy. #2 burgers and this weird concoction made of ginger ale and fruit nectar (it’s pretty good). #3 my only girl: cherries. I actually stopped eating sweets for several months and all I wanted was cherries which clearly proves I was possessed.

Congratulations on your engagement, by the way. He sounds like a great guy and a good match for you. My husband and I had a super short courtship/engagement – 5 months from first date to wedding – and we are deliriously happy ten years later. Like you said, when you know you know!

We have a golden retriever. She is three years old and her name is Molly. She is very sweet and the perfect dog for children.

Reply

I have a golden named Duke. He is 12 years young and we’ve had him since he was 9 months old. He is THE BEST dog. As I type this, he is laying on the couch with me. So mellow and loving, with a cantankerous side too. Have a border collie mix too who is quirky and high strung!

Reply

My parents have a golden and she is the friendliest dog ever. Planning to have fun with my training this summer and because want to do something different than longest distance I will try to beat my Pb on 5k. Should be interesting! Pregnancy crave? It was burgers all the time!

Golden Retrievers are the absolute best!! Ours is 11 months and brings us so so much happiness

Reply

I craved a lot of savory foods! Big sandwiches, bagels with vegetable cream cheese and a ton of pizza

Reply

My husband has a golden named Finn (who is my absolute sole mate, running buddy) and I have daughter named Finn- that coincidence is what brought us together. :)

Reply

I’ve never had a Golden Retriever but they are one of my favorite dog breeds and I would love one. :) With my last pregnancy I really craved salads with chicken, hot cheetos, and chocolate ha. Super random I know.

Reply

Carrots and guac are a favorite!

I ran a 12 and a 7 this weekend. Dh and I have a half this weekend too. It will be his first. I’m also trading for the Missoula Marathon and The Rut 50k.

Baby 1: Bit o’ Honeys
Baby 2: butterfingers
Baby 3: bacon & Dr Pepper – I seriously went overboard with these!

Reply

Carrots + guacamole = ❤️ Also, carrots and hummus, carrots and peanut butter, carrots and salsa, carrots and laughing cow cheese, carrots and almond butter! Serious about our carrots here! Love your blog and I don’t even run! Swimming only.

OMG! Look at that puppy!!! He is just the cutest! I would LOVE to have a Golden! One day, I will…

It’s hard fitting EVERYTHING into our busy days… and you’ll be plenty busy with the wedding planning (yay!). So awesome that you have a treadmill so you can hop on there if you can’t make it out the door.

I had a 10 and 12k run this weekend and other than that I attended a baptism and did a whole lot of cooking/baking. :)

Reply

The only craving I had was with my daughter and it was cuties. I ate boxes of those things, I thought she was going to come out orange.

Yes to avocado on everything………especially burgers!! And I had a great race right after I got engaged in 2014………so the excitement may help you out a lot!

Aww I love golden retrievers!! They are the best dogs!

I’ve always heard that kids usually hate what their moms craved when they were pregnant and this is the first time that I’ve ever heard about it not being true! Everyone else I’ve ever talked to has confirmed this theory.

Golden Retrievers are the absolute best. Ours (Darby Shaw) is 13!

I haven’t taken the time to comment recently but I just have to tell you CONGRATULATIONS!

I first caught wind of your engagement via Instagram and I can’t tell you how happy I am for you and Brooke.

Even through the internet, over the last few years of flowing your blog I know you are such a genuine person and incredible mom and I am so, so thrilled for you to have found someone to spend your life with!
