The track to celebrate, our squad and bi-monthly….

Brooke and I decided that we would celebrate Global Running Day the best way possible—>  A trip to the track (and I predict years down the road we will celebrate with a trail run in the mountains).

Her forward lean while she runs is spot on:)

Brooke is the one that reminded me we needed to take our water bottles and I’m glad she remembered because we took a bunch of drink breaks over the course of .5 miles (we were just going to do one lap and when we finished that lap Brooke wanted to go for another—> and my runner’s heart rejoiced).

IMG 9007

She also did what I always want to do with 100m left of my track workout left and hung out on the side for a bit.

IMG 9028

The feeling of accomplishment after a good run starts very early in life.

IMG 9013

After our track experience I did 5 miles on my treadmill @ 8:00 pace but I’m really glad I got a little bit of outdoor running with Brookers today.

IMG 9026

And just because I document every aspect of our life:

After that we went to stock up on produce because I’m on my bimonthly ‘WE NEED TO EAT AT HOME AND MORE PRODUCE’ kick.  I love Costco produce and I have a very colorful looking inside of a fridge again.

IMG 9031

And then we picked up the yearly pool noodle.  It’s one of our 3000 traditions.

IMG 9035

Snack break with some chocolate Kind bars.

IMG 9043

And then our two favorite guys came over and the kids played outside in the sand for a very long time.

IMG 9049

I put together our salads for dinner (I’m pretty sure our tastebuds are the exact same and this is his favorite salad) too… plus Boathouse dressing = our favorite.

IMG 9045

Somebody’s mastered the double child holding at once thing.  People just assume they are twins when we are out and about.

IMG 9050

I have one running accomplishment that I am sharing a day early:)  Pretty stoked about it!!!

MY NEPHEW (my oldest brother’s 9 year old son)!!!!! He ran the 400 meter in 1:27 and the 1600 meter in 7:23 and he got first place in both! He also ran the 100 meter in 16.9.  SO SO SO SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!

Way to go to your nephew! That’s awesome :) I only have one sister and she doesn’t have any kids yet..so I have 0 nieces and nephews! 22 is a ton!

I just tried Whole Foods for the first time, but I usually get my produce from farmers markets in the spring/summer and Trader Joes or a local grocer any other time (or if I’m feeling lazy). My grandpa also has an amazing garden so I get tomatoes and zucchini from him!

Reply

At first I read that as you had “92 nieces and nephews” and I was shocked. 22 makes more sense though.

It sounds like you had a great Global Running Day. The track you go too looks absolutely lovely. I would love if my local track had that view. Brooke is cute as always…she is going to be a fast runner. ;)

Reply

Oh my goodness, 22?? How does she keep track?? I have three on my side and 5 on my husbands side. We are way behind!

Fruit is my go-to snack. It’s so easy to take with me! We almost always have apples and bananas and berries anytime they are in season! Grapes have been so good lately!

Love that you and Brooke got I some track time! Love it!

Reply

My dad is a twin! His (and my Aunt Sherry’s) birthday was yesterday! 72 years old! :)

I have 8 nieces and nephews.

Reply

That video of Brooke is too precious! I have one niece on the way, and I’m so excited to be an aunt!! :)

Go-to snack: blackberries and animal crackers (and Wheat Thins, of course)

What a great way to celebrate global running day with Brooke!

I like that Andrew is holding the three most important family members: the kids and the iPhone charger. All VIPs! ;)

Reply

22 nieces and nephews, oh my! how many siblings do you have? that’s so fun, I’m very jealous. I have zero nieces and nephews currently but hopefully someday!

also, you and brooke running is by far the cutest thing. she’s so lucky that she can look back on these memories when she’s older.

Reply

My mom has almost 14 grandkids, 3 of them are my sisters triplets

Costco is our go to for produce too

Reply

What a great way to celebrate Global Running Day! Love the picture of Brooke just chillin on the track; basically my aesthetic during tempo runs.

Go to snack: cinnamon raisin granola+greek yogurt. 0 nieces or nephews, but 100 cousins!

Reply

22 is a lot! I have 4 and thought I had a bunch of nieces and nephews :).

Reply

i have 3 nieces and 1 nephew–love them all! :) We mostly shop at Kroger during the year, but start hitting up Farmer’s Markets at this time of year. My husband is actually a twin! He has a twin sister, but they don’t really look that much alike.

Reply

22 wow!! sounds like lots of fun! I have 9 and love them to pieces! My brother has twins but that is from his wife’s side. My weekly produce staples are spinach, cauliflower, and broccoli. Can’t go without! My go to snack is popcorn right now. Just craving the salty snacks I guess! So cute to see Brooke run and that’s awesome about your nephew! It’s actually making me want to hit up the track! :)

Your cart just made me hungry :-/

Congrats to your nephew! And I love how you spent Global Running Day. I have high hopes for my 18 month old – I envision us running together someday, I just hope he’ll be on board!

I get my produce at our local grocery store and my weekly staples are bananas, sweet potatoes, apples and blueberries or raspberries (which ever are on sale). And I buy frozen broccoli because it goes with EVERYTHING! haha

My current go to snack when I’m in the office is an apple with peanut butter. At home, for whatever reason I don’t want to eat apples, haha. So I usually snack on something in the fridge like cheese or date rolls.

Reply

You have so many nieces and nephews! I just have one younger sister, so no nieces or nephews yet.

Reply

Wow! That’s a lot of nieces and nephews! I have three nieces and two nephews, but predict I’ll have at least a couple more down the road (I have four sisters and two of them don’t have kids yet).

We buy things like strawberries and spinach at BJs because we eat so much of them. Other produce we buy in smaller quantities at a local farm shop.

I’m sure you know this, but just saw a sign in Dunkin Donuts this morning and feel obliged to tell/remind you -> it’s National Doughnut Day tomorrow!!!!! I can’t decide whether I’m more excited about National Running Day or National Doughnut Day…..This week is just the best!!

Reply

That’s about how many cousins I have on just one side of the family and they’re all a good bit older so most of them have kids too. Family get-together’s are pretty hectic. I don’t have any yet because I’m the oldest of my siblings and it’ll probably be at least a couple more years before we’re ready for kids.

Reply

Congrats to your nephew! That’s a lot of nieces and nephews for sure! Your mom must be so proud :)

Reply

One niece and one nephew. Whew!

Reply

22 Wow! I have a pretty small family, only one older brother so no nieces or nephews. Brooke is so fast!

Reply

BROOKE IS SO SO SO CUTE!!! I love how she wants to be just like mommy with the running. You’re setting a great example for her to ENJOY exercise! :)

Reply

Twin mom here, double child holding is a key skill, nice job! Mine are about 25 lbs each now and it’s becoming a little bit more interesting to get them both up and down myself! Lets get walking boys! :)

Reply

I have cousins who are twins but they look nothing alike. My girls are 2 years apart but for a couple of years (when they were 7 and 9, 8 and 10 etc…) the younger grew taller while the older didn’t grow much. Since they have the same orangish hair color and then being the same height EVERYONE asked if they were twins….I actually got kind of sick of saying…”No, they are actually 2 years apart”…ha!

Reply

That video of Brooke is the cutest thing ever! I just love her. :) I have 5 (almost 6) nephews and 5 nieces. They’re the best! I get most of my produce at Walmart or Smiths, and the things that I want in bulk I get from Sam’s Club. I have a question for you though, do you ever find that the big container of salad from Costco tastes like dirt? Maybe it is just me but I always taste dirt ha! Oh and Bolthouse is my absolute favorite too! Your salads looked SO good. :)

Reply

22!!! HOLY MOLY!!! I have 1 right now and I just adore him!!!

Seriously, I’m coming to catch up on your blog and I see this post with Brooke-I just melt. Yall are the cutest ever and her little pony tail in that first picture just makes me smile! haha!

Reply

Brooke’s form is perfect! Favorite snack lately is Greek yogurt with hemp seeds and berries!

Reply

I can’t even handle Brooke!! Love the determination!

I have only one dog nephew (crying/laughing emoji). We are definitely enjoying the ‘all siblings are grown up and partnered but there aren’t any children yet’ phase ! Every stage of life has its highlights :)

Reply

22 nieces and nephews! Holy cow! I have 3 nephews and 3 nieces :)

I also have a very colorful, beautiful fridge thanks to Costco produce!

Reply

I only have one little nephew for now. He’s a 10 month old ball of sweetness. I LOVE being an Aunt!

I get a lot of produce from my coworker whose husband owns a farm. I also get milk (sometimes yogurt) and eggs from them too! I never have been a huge fan of cow’s milk until I had it straight from the source… SO good!

My current go-to snacks are Larabars and these sweet potato/banana bites I found on Pinterest. Only ingredients are sweet potato, banana, peanut butter, eggs, cinnamon, and chocolate chips!

Reply

I only have one nephew and 2 nieces. My Mom is a twin. They say having twins skips a generation and since my Mom and none of her siblings (she’s one of NINE!) had twins, my cousins and I would be in line to have them. I’m one of the few that never had kids so….the world will never know.

Reply

My mom used to exercise with me when I was Brooke’s age. It’s been a life long habit form me! Nice memories to give her, too.

My mom is a twin and I have 2 sets of twin cousins.

I have one niece but I also consider my cousins kids my nieces and nephews – there are 5 of them.

Krave lime chipotle jerky, keylime pie larabars and brown rice cakes are my current snack go-to’s. I’m also love peanut butter and chocolate granola by Love Crunch. (all of their flavors are amazing and pretty low on sugar).

Reply

I have 9 nieces and nephews and one of them happens to be a trainer! Score! She’s my go-to gal for everything injury/workout related.
I love Whole Foods for produce. It may be a little more expensive but the quality is so worth it.
My boys are now going to the grocery store with me now that it’s summer which means we will be coming home with many more snacks. Yesterday’s choice was Boom Chicka Pop (white cheddar) and I think that’s going to be a summertime staple.

Reply

My favorite go-to snack right now is hummus.
Or these taco flavored dorietos that somehow wound up at our house.

Reply

the view from your track is unreal

Reply

I don’t have any nieces and nephews, my siblings are only 23 and 25!
I get most of my produce from the grocery store, but in the summer I like to go to the local farmers markets or the local farm! They have the best produce!
My sisters are twins! Also, I have 3 sets of 3rd cousins that are twins and great aunts/uncles that are twins! It always skips a generations :)
My current go-to snack is Siggis yogurt with granola and chocolate chips!

Reply

I love Costco. My cart looks very similar to yours. Do you buy all your chicken breasts there are cook a bunch and freeze it? My go to snack, besides the red velvet Oreos, is Nearly Naked popcorn. Those big red bags of it at Costco. 70 calories for 4 cups. I think…But who measures popcorn anyways…

Reply

I have no nieces or nephews :( My SIL (husband’s sister) and my brother both decided not to have kids. It breaks my heart my kids don’t have any cousins.

Reply

I can’t believe you have 22 nieces and nephews! I have 3 on my side and 4 on my husband’s side. I do all of my grocery shopping, including produce, at Meijer. That is a midwest grocery store. They have pretty decent produce! The nearest Costco is 45 minutes away. They are supposedly building one in my city in the next year. I would definitely join!

Your question on nieces and nephews got me thinking of my sister in law. I have always given you a lot of credit for getting out of your toxic first marriage. Your readers don’t know the details, but it was obvious that something major happened for you to file for divorce that same day. My sister in law is in an awful relationship, also had a major event, and I wish she had made the same decision as you at that time. For some reason she is staying in the toxic marriage for the 2 kids, but I think it’s doing them a lot more harm :( I know everyone is different, but I see how your life has panned out, and I am SO happy for you, and wish she had done the same thing.

Oh my, the scenery in Utah is amazing! Actually, everything in Utah looks amazing – even Costco.

I love that you have found “the one”. Your parents must be overjoyed that you Andrew. I found mine 30 years ago and we are still going strong.

I am an only child = no nieces or nephews. However, my husband has two brothers and a sister and their kids are very special to me.

??? waving to Brooke!

Reply

Being an Aunt is just the best! I have a niece (9) and nephew (7 next month) on my side and an almost 2 yr old nephew on my husband’s side. I love when they are little, but I am loving when they are old enough to hang out! We just started playing board games with my niece, which was my favorite thing to do as a kid!

Reply

I have the smallest family! My husband is an only child by birth, but he has 4 stepbrothers and 1 stepsister. I have a brother but he’s autistic–so technically I’ll never have ANY nieces or nephews. Thanks to my husband’s stepbrothers, we have 4 (plus 2 estranged…not sure), and they’re the BEST. I’m so grateful for them because otherwise, my children would literally have NO cousins. Strange right?
Go to snack…cherries. Cherries, cherries and MORE CHERRIES!

Reply

Okay…that IS strange and bonus brothers and sisters are definitely awesome. I have a bonus dad I could not be happier to have.

Reply

I have 29 nieces and nephews on just my husband’s side! Haha he was a surprise baby by 10 years so his older siblings all have 5 or more kids:) there’s only 2 from my side, but we always say we don’t need to have kids yet because there’s always plenty of kiddos running around at family events.

I always love your Brooke videos! Haha you’re such a cute mom.

Reply

My grandma was a triplet. Although she died a few years ago, her siblings are still doing great at 90. And they have an older brother 11 months older than they are. So 4 kids in diapers that first winter. In 1925. With no washing machine and no dryer.

I am an only but there are 8 kids in my dad’s family so I grew up with lots of cousins around. My husband has a sister but we don’t see her or her two kids for many different reasons that I would need to write a book to explain ;-)

Reply

22 nieces and nephews?! Wow! I have three nephews on my husband’s side and one on the way on my side.
No twins in my family or my husband’s. That’s something you really start looking at when trying to start a family lol!
I love that you and Brooke went for a run together. You’re setting such a great example for her.

Reply

What a fun time with Brooke on the track for global running day : ) you’re raising a runner!

You have 22 (!!!) nieces and nephews?? How many siblings do you have? I have 1 niece and 3 nephews. Easy to keep track of ;)

I buy most of our produce at the Farmer’s Market or local Co-op.

I am a twin :) (fraternal though, but I am very close with my sister).

My current go-to snack are almonds.

Reply

Brooke’s ponytail kind of looks like yours when you are running!

I have 9 nieces and nephews and 11 (almost 12) great nieces and nephews! My siblings and I are really spread apart, 20 years between the youngest and oldest!

I definitely get most of my produce from Costco, And the best thing is is that if you get it home and it’s yucky then you can take it back. I love Costco.

I was a surrogate and pregnant with twins. Whew. I’m so glad I got to do that, but that pregnancy was crazy hard.

My current go to snack is Dannon salted caramel greek yogurt, a Yasso frozen greek yogurt bar, cottage cheese and berries. It’s really hot here right now (108 on Sat!!) so really anything cold and fresh sounds yummy!

Reply

I have identical twin boys that are 14 months old. It’s so fun watching them grow together.
Very happy for you and your new little family. You’ve handled your situations with grace and integrity.

Reply

The things I would do to run on a track with that view.. I can’t get over how gorgeous the mountains are there! I usually get all my produce at Hy-Vee, Aldi’s or the farmer’s market. Lately I’ve been all about the farmer’s market!

Reply

4 Nieces and 2 Nephews, I already lose track of birthdays, I couldn’t imagine 22!

I LOVE watching kids run. They have absolutely perfect form! Way to go Brookie!
I have twins! A boy and a girl too! They’re 6 months old. So fun :) you’re going to have a blast matching their outfits haha getting them dressed might be my favorite time of day.

Brooke nailed her track workout, hooray!

10 nieces and nephews including one pair of twins. And triplet siblings. LOVE my big family!

Your grocery cart looks perfect! Loving the fruit lately too!

Reply

22 nieces & nephews is a LOT! I have 10 nieces & nephews and thought that was a pretty big (little) crew.

As for twins in my family, my twin sister and I are the youngest of 6! There are five girls and one boy among my siblings (my poor brother…)

The picture on instagram yesterday of Brooke with the racing bib was SO cute! She is growing up so fast!

Reply

Holy cow…22. That is intense. I have seven (ten all total with my kids)and my mom complains she can’t keep track with that.

Reply

Looks like the natural speed runs in the family!

I do like costco for produce…but sometimes its just too much food. I usually buy from the farmers markets, the local organic grocer, trader joes, and whole foods.
I try to eat what’s in season…but cannot live without summer squashes, cauliflower, brussies, grape or heirloom tomatoes, sweet potatoes. Now that the weather is warm I am loving salads with cilantro and spinach greens, persian cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, and chickpeas or some sort of flavored tofu.

Snack…fruit! Watermelon, grapes, nectarines, apricots, white peaches. Or ice cream. Can always do ice cream.

I don’t have a ton of neices or nephews….but I am a twin. And as far as I know…the only one I. My family!

Reply

I have 8 nieces and nephews. Which sounds like a lot to me but wow 22!! I couldn’t even imagine. I bet when they get together it is a real fun time.
I buy most of my produce from Trader Joe’s or Sprouts.
My Uncles are twins. My little sister and I are 18 months apart but look and act like twins sometimes.
Go To Snack = Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds or Plantain Chips with Hummus.

Reply

Brooke is so cute running!!! Love Costco!! I usually get my produce from Kroger (Smiths) or the farmers market!

Reply

Love Global Running Day…of course my boys went to swim practice instead:) Just had to chime in on the nice and nephew count….I currently have 30 nieces, 28 nephews, 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew….the funny part is that only one niece and one nephew come from my side of things…the rest are from my husbands mega size family!!! Your blog is a cute ray of sunshine each day or so and I am thrilled you are getting some of that sunshine back in your own life!

Reply

WHAT?! You have 22 nieces and nephews?? I can’t even imagine. But then again, I only have one sibling…so 22 would be a little odd. lol

I have a niece (1 yr old) and a nephew (4.5 yrs old) and I am godmother to both of them…and love them sooooooooooooo much!

Reply

We have a couple sets of twins in my family. I love fresh produce – nothing better than it! I prefer to stock up on it at a local farmers market whenever possible but often grab it at Whole Foods and the Fresh Market when I need a particular item throughout the week. My go to snack right now is tomatoes and cucumbers or strawberries and a handful of nuts.

Reply

OMG…how cute is Brooke? She seems to have the natural running form down pat…you’ll be chasing her at races pretty soon.

Those salads look amazing…can you come make me one too??

Reply

The video of Brooke is so cute! I have 2 nieces and 2 nephew – we have a pretty small family! I love writing birthday’s in my planner (nerd alert) so I would have a blast writing that many birthdays down! My go to snack is usually a Luna Bar – OBSESSED with the chocolate peanut butter kind, its the right amount of sweetness to get me through the afternoon!

That cilantro avocado dressing is so good!
I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew and that’s enough data for me to remember, haha!
My husband actually is a twin, which is really fun. They get along really well and I think it’s so sweet.

I have 8 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great nephews and 4 great nieces and 2 great, great nieces AND 2 great, great nephews. That doesn’t count my husband’s side of the family.
Our daughter in law is a twin and we were hoping she’d have twins but so far two singles.
My “go to” snack is sweet heat pickles with a little cheese, preferably jalapeno jack….awesome!! Of course we’re getting into prime watermelon season. My husband has a garden so we’re hoping for a bumper crop!!

No nieces and nephews yet, my brother is the only one married aside from me. :) 22 is awesome! What a special blessing.

Go to snack? Watemelon.watemelon.watermelon.

I have 1 nephew & 3 nieces, 2 of whom are twins. Fun fact: the twins have been running as long as I can remember (they used to beat the older boys in races on the playground). They just finished 8th grade & have set all kinds of track records. They can each run a 5-min. mile. :o
