Friday Favorites and YOUR RUNNING ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!

Well, we found a place to get hitched so that is pretty exciting.  Technically my mom told us to go check it out but we all knew that would happen;)  We are excited.  It is perfect for what we need (and they do all the work for you… chairs/tables/food/now I don’t have to plan a thing;)

Brooke and knox loved running around the place for a while too.

Dinner.  Our dates consist of take-out while the kids play and we love it.

I’ve got some Friday Favorites to share with you today!!!

1.  The only nut butter we buy anymore—> Wild Friends.  Brooke is hooked on the packets and they literally make the easiest on the go snacks ever.

IMG 9691

Wild Friends is now in 450 TARGETS!!!  Their Protein + Nut Butters are on the shelves… you will love them.

And this flavor makes for quite the dessert.  You can use the store locator HERE to find where they are and you can thank me later for your newest obsession with these jars of goodness.

IMG 9714

2.  All of the amazingly sweet comments/emails/love from you guys.. thank you! And thank you for the gorgeous flowers Mediakix!!!

IMG 9688

3.  Lindsey is going to be taking our engagements on Monday so I went to grab more of my favorite eyeshadow on the planet.  Also, not sure what type of dress to wear for the pics…but I am thinking lace or casual (or this casual dress in white) or something floral or more plain or I should have my mom pick this too?  Thoughts??  Maybe we should just wear running clothes because that is more us:)

 IMG 9686

4.  And last but not least, my favorite running songs right now:

Send My Love (To Your New Lover) by Adele

Never Forget You by Zara Larsson

Wherever I go by OneRepublic

How You Love Me by 3LAU

Airplanes by B.o.B (taking it back:)

This Is What You Came For by Calvin Harris

Final Song by MØ

Lush Life by Zara Larsson

Fast Car – Radio Edit by Jonas Blue

NoLo by Grace Mitchel

5.  I think Snapchat is my new favorite form of social media… (thanks Meg for showing your unhappiness for my favorite candy bar).  You can follow me at Janae12345 if you would like.

Keep your amazing running accomplishments coming in so I can post your hard work and awesomeness on FRIDAYS!!  [email protected]

Marci!!! “I just ran the most amazing 50 miles on earth.  The Squaw Peak 50 mile trail run right here in our own Provo, Utah! I’m so proud to be from Utah tonight (even if my feet now hate me).

 ————————————————

Marie!!! “Last week I commented that my weekend plans included going for a sub-4:00 at the Med City Marathon.  My body undergoes a fair amount of stress for work (concert musician) and I’d decided that this would be my last one due to health, and that I’d just go for it. And…I did it! My friend Jenny pace me to a 3:55 (even though she’s barely recovering from running a great time at the Boston Marathon) and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! The last half of the race was rough, temperatures got warm, and my primary motivation for miles 21-25 was ‘if I make the goal I’ll never have to feel this way again’… but nothing compares to seeing the finish clock as you cross the line at the end!!!”

Emily! writing about her sister—>  Phoebe!!  “This running accomplishment is actually my sister’s.  We’ve run all distances together from a 5k to a marathon, but my sister is made of grit and determination.  She wanted to see if she could run an Ultra Marathon, so she signed up for a 50 mile race.  She stuck to her training, fitting in 5 hour long runs in between coaching and working, sometimes going out as late as 8 pm to finish an hour.  Last weekend, she ran her 50 miler.  It was a course that ran over the same 15 mile loop 3 times, so we (our family) got to see her a bunch of times during the race, and we couldn’t believe how good she looked each time we saw her! I ‘paced’ her on the last loop, though must of the time she was running in front of me, and she ended the race with a huge smile on her face, in 10:24:22.  Congrats, Phoebe!!! I’m so proud to call you my sister!! (She’s in the middle:)”

Brie!!! “On Saturday I ran a 5k followed by a 10k trail race.  It was extremely difficult and I came out with a ton of respect for trail runners.  Trail racing is way different from road racing and it forced me to become comfortable with slower paces.  But I managed 2nd in my age group for the 10k- my first time ever placing in my age group so that left me really excited and happy!”

Kristi!!! “Over Memorial weekend I ran the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon.  After a 2015 full of injury after injury and not making it to the starting line of two marathons, I was beyond thrilled to break 3 hours with a time of 2:57:55! The icing on the cake was placing top 5 female taking 4th OA! The birth of my two kids and my wedding day will always be the best day(s) of my life but I have to admit, this was pretty darn special! PS maybe wearing your tank to the expo helped seal the deal the following day, no?;)”

Laura!!!! “I am so excited that I just finished my 1st Half Marathon Post Partum! This training cycle was hard for me because I wasn’t prepared for how much my body changed from having a baby.  But I am so excited I now know what to expect for training for my fall half!”

Holly!!! So, my running accomplishment is from the Ogden Half Marathon on 5/21/16.  It was pouring rain the entire time, but I felt awesome and strong! Just a few months early I was really struggling with my speed and endurance.  I had a rib out of place (which I originally thought was a heart attack and went through all of the testing) that ended up being a rib problem from a fall on some bleachers at my daughter’s soccer game back in August 2015, (extremely embarrassing moment!!!) I also have had sciatica issues.  A few months ago I didn’t think I would be able to complete the half.  But I went to a chiropractor and after just a few adjustments and muscle reactivation my speed and endurance shot back up! It doesn’t hurt that I have also lost about 16 lbs in the last three months.  I ended up finishing in 2:07:13, not a PR, but only a few minutes short of that which I was super happy about given that a few months ago I was considering bailing! Woohoo! To make things better, I just found out a few days ago that I won the treadmill that they were giving away in a drawing at the Expo and packet pickup! Double woohoo!! Great race!!!”

Jennifer!!!  “My name is Jenn Ahlstrom and I am not a runner.  I have always wanted to learn to love running, but my body just doesn’t love to run.  8 weeks ago I started the C25K app, as I had millions of times before, but this time was different.  This time I stuck with it and completed it.  I had gone from barely being able to run 90 seconds without dying to running with a running group every Saturday for 4+ miles.  What?!? The week I finished was the week I had signed up to run the Teton Dam Marathon 5k in Rexburg, ID.  The 5k is my marathon.  I had run this 5K in 2007 finishing it at 34:18 and in 2008 finishing at 38:38.  Back then I was 40 lbs lighter, hadn’t given birth to my two beautiful children, and in my mind I was in pretty good physical shape.  Last Saturday, I finished the Teton Dam 5K at 32:35! I could not believe it! I didn’t even think my body was capable of accomplishing something like that.  My husband and Mom and my 2 children were at the finish line with roses, cow bells (why are these even a thing?) and signs.  Their support was overwhelming.  And to make it even better, my 3 year old, who had watched me train the past 8 weeks ran the Teton Dam kids race, a 1/2 mile race, without stopping once! Watching her was almost better than running myself.  Almost.”

Loribeth!!! “I just finished another half marathon….. my 7th one overall and the 4th time I have run this particular race.  It is my favorite and it is VERY hilly and VERY hot/humid.  I feel like a rockstar after finishing it.  I ran thru the country and I saw a longhorn steer, alpaca, and horses up close! And even though I was 10 minutes off my PR, I loved everything about this race!”

What are your weekend running plans… race or long run or group run?

Anyone else choose Mexican food over any other genre of foods… I could eat it everyday of my life (and I practically do)!

Ever done any trail races before?  What was the distance and where was it at?

What is your favorite form of social media these days?

Could you do an outfit change during your photos? I love the idea of white casual, but some running shots would be fun too.

Mexican food all day, everyday. I agree. (insert taco and burrito emojis here.)

Can you share Meg’s snapcode? I’ve been trying to hunt you guys down for a while. I am getting quite addicted, but instagram is probably still number 1.

I would love to be able to run more trails but there aren’t any around where I live and having to drive 45-60 min to get to them takes some of the fun out of being able to just go run.

Instagram is still my favorite form of social media. I just can’t get into snapchat.

This weekend I would settle for just being able to fit in a run, I don’t even care how far or how long I would just like to run!

Congrats on finding a venue! Having that done takes so much of the stress off (at least it did for me!)

I loved where we got married because they did everything for us too. It made everything stress free. My favorite form of social media is Twitter or Instagram. It does seem like not as many people use Twitter these days though.

Reply

I have a 5k tomorrow morning but thats about it!
My husband would eat Mexican food everyday if he could! And I wouldn’t complain about it because I do love it too, haha.

And I’m all about Instagram these days…love it! I also learn new things on there about running, food, trends, etc.

I’m running a long run tonight since my weekend is busy.
I ran a trail half marathon last sept and it was so hard. I’ve also done a couple of 5 and 10k trail races. Even in January when there is a foot of snow on the ground :)

Reply

I’m so glad you found the right place! That was the hardest part for us, and after that it was smooth sailing. Can’t wait to see your engagement pics!

Tonight I’m running a local race. It was actually the first race that I ever ran back when I was 8 years old!

Reply

It’s so hot here in Florida that I have to judge it day by day whether or not I go running. I always want to but sometimes the heat and humidity work against me.

Reply

I’m so glad you finally shared your snapchat deets. Lol!! It’s my new obsession (TGallopBlank). Love catching up and having fun on that platform with fellow runners.

I say bring a change of clothes and do atleast one outfit change to running gear. You want your engagement pics to be who you are. Enjoy and have fun!!

Reply

I wore that white lace Eliza J dress to my shower and got SO many compliments!! It was so comfortable and flattering, and I love how classy it looks while still being fun!

Reply

I love the idea of white lace! If I could go back and marry my husband again I would have an outdoor wedding. We lived out of state at the time and the stress of planning that was just too much! Look forward to reading all about it!

Reply

Tomorrow I will do my long run at the lake, which I always love. I’m hoping I’ll feel alright. I had a race last night (it wasn’t too awful!), so I’m feeling a bit tired today.

I really love Tex-Mex (especially quesadillas), and I’m all about the Insta as my form of social media. Facebook can be a bit dramatic at times. Oh and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Reply

Awwww I love those running accomplishments! I love how ultrarunning is becoming so mainstream now. I hope to join the 50-miler ranks someday!

I definitely think you should take some engagement pics in your runners clothes. Engagement photos should totally represent the couple! Of course you want some pretty ones to send out or to frame where you look fancy, but running clothes are special too :D

Reply

mexican food always. I swear I try and make all of my meals texmex by adding salsa. salsa on eggs, turkey, you name it I want salsa on it haha. and of course cheese.

loving the running accomplishments and loving your playlist even more. always on the look for new jams.

Reply

I love the lace dress! But I’m sure you’ll look amazing in whatever dress you choose!

I could definitely eat Mexican food everyday too. It’s too delicious!

Reply

I never choose Mexican food! I know, I’m weird. My son loves it yet I never crave it. I do like a few of the great Mexican restaurants here in New York though!

Reply

My photographer friend always has couples take a couple different outfits for their pictures. You could do this too right? Help be reflective of who you are.
Mexican food is the bomb.com

I love your playlists (and your blog!), I feel like we have very similar tastes in music, which is why you should check out these 2 songs:
High Valley – make you mine
High Valley – she’s with me

They have such a good beat and are super cute. I actually extended my Tempo run this morning because I couldn’t stop listening :)

Weekend running plans: 8-10 mile run Saturday and a few miles Sunday. Race next weekend!!
I’ve never done a trail race but I want to get into more trail running and complete one!
Favorite social media is probably instagram! I love pictures :)

Mexican and Mediterranean food tie as my favorites for eating out. I crave guac in summer a lot. But then pita and hummus and shawarma are so good also!

Reply

Oh yeah Mexican – I’m so with you on that one. I could eat it everyday too. I have lots of good healthy Mexican recipes. Yum!! I would rather run a trail race then a road race, although I do both. I ran my 1st 50 miler in May of this year (Wapack and Back) which starts in Mass and goes into NH and it felt faster than my road marathon I ran several years ago. Weird I know huh, but running in the woods flies by. Will be probably doing a longer run this weekend because we have a 13.5 trail race @ Mt Greylock in Adams, MA next weekend. Awesome way for my hubby to spend part of his Father’s Day. I love the idea of engagement photos done in running clothes. Have both a dressed up version and a casual version. Have a super weekend and happy running!!

Reply

Running is who you are, what you share. I think those photos would be amazing. Running into the sunset, happily ever after would be awesome. I also like the white casual but you will have “white dress: photos on August.

Reply

Lace of plain, but some running photos would be so perfect as well! Can’t wait to see them!

Reply

I’ve done a trail 10k, 8k, and half, and I loved them all! They are way slower than road races and that can be a bit humbling at first but it’s so much more beautiful and relaxing and amazing. Long story short is that I love them.

Reply

Lace times a million!

Reply

I choose Mexican food most of the time. It’s probably my favorite.

And I like the plain black dress

Reply

I’m with you on the eating Mexican food everyday. I love guac and fresh salsa!

Reply

Marie – a concert musician? That has to be one of the coolest jobs! (and congrats on your sub 4)!

I think any photo is best when you are doing what you love. Or if you incorporate an element of your hobby into your photos. If you’re able to do a clothing change I would do a mix of formal and informal. A shot of date at the play park would also be appropriate. :)

I love Wild Friends, one of the grocery stores I shop in carries it too. (and so does Marshall’s on occasion – where it’s about $2 cheaper).

I loved being in San Antonio for business by myself because I got to eat TexMex food every.single.night. My husband would have had it one night, maybe 2 if the places were different enough.

Reply

My husband and I wore tee shirts and jeans for both our engagement photos and to our reception lunch picnic because it was way more “us”. We also had non-standard poses for the engagement and post-ceremony photos (no official reception photos). 20 years later, when I look back at the photos…I still have no regrets. Go with what fits you and Andrew best.

Reply

I love Brooke’s little romper! Too cute!

Reply

Wow you guys make decisions fast! I would totally be indecisive. If I ever got married, I would have to elope. Too much planning involved!

Reply

hahah that is what we wanted to do but we want our families there too:) SO MANY DECISIONS!

Reply

I am OBSESSED with snapchat. I am new to it because I thought it was only for teens, a snow I’m wondering where it has been all my life! Also WHERE did you get that guac?! Los Hermanos? I need it in my life

Reply

Milagros… so so good. You have to go now. It’s on 8th north in Orem:)

Reply

I LOVE Mexican food. My husband always says I must have some Mexican heritage in me, because I cannot get enough of the food. :) I have run a trail 5k, and am doing a trail half in August…I know it’s going to be much tougher than a road half, but I’m super excited!

Reply

I am team formal for the engagement pics! I love the last dress you looked at – Crew Sheath from Banana. That is simply gorgeous. I think the lace is nice – but it has been very overdone lately. Everyone has the white lace dress for the engagement pics….so not really original anymore. (Of course, pretty though – just repetitive). I think having a few running pics – with the whole fam….would be cute too and more original.

Reply

Are you guys doing a civil ceremony? Are you going to get sealed in the temple? I’m asking because I am curious how that stuff works when you have a mixed family and have been sealed in the temple before. So excited for you! I wanted to dance and hug my husband when I found out but then I was worried he might think I’m crazy for being so excited for someone I’ve never met…but I still danced and screamed on the inside :)

Reply

Favorite social media: Instagram, but do you think you could do a blog post on Snapchat 101 for dummies? I’ve tried to add you a couple other bloggers and I DON’T GET IT! What I do get is how to make myself or my daughter look like a puppy in snapchat pictures though! Priorities.

Yes, Mexican food over others, with Italian a close second :)

Reply

You say running clothes are more your thing, but know your outfits or church clothes always look fantastic on you. Cannot go wrong on the dress choice, all would be beautiful.

Reply

Ahhhh where did you buy the chips and gauc? I like the lace dress. doooo it!

Reply

That lace dress is amazing!!!

Reply

I can’t find you on snapchat! :( Ughhhh I’m such a grandma… It’s Hungryrunnergirl, right?

Reply

I couldn’t either! :(

Me either!

Reply

AHHH I think I did it wrong… try Janae12345 SORRY this is hard hahah!

Reply

That is awesome that you found your venue! I feel like everything else falls into place one the venue is decided! I loveee mexican food too!! Snapchat is definitely my favorite form of social media at the moment!

Reply

The first two white dresses would look great on you!

The venue looks amazing. How did you decide on outdoor vs a church wedding? Is getting remarried in the Mormon church difficult? Ive only heard about what the Catholic Church has people do…

Reply

Wedding planning is so fun!!! I think someone else mentioned this, but when my husband and I did our engagement photos we started off in “dress up” clothes and then changed into our running gear to take a few fun, silly photos at the end! We had so much fun! I definitely recommend it :)

Reply

I love to plan weddings! I vote for the blouson dress from Nordstrom. Did you see it in coral? That could be amazing. I might have to go buy it for myself… And should we plan you a blogger bridal shower?!?

Reply

My vote is #2 listed, the casual flowy white one because you can also dress it up! I’m always a fan of those where I could wear flip flops or throw on some wedges and a necklace at night to class it up. Are you going to take some with the kids and dog? My husband and I took some with our pups as they are definitely part of our family :)

Side note, I couldn’t find you on snapchat searching for hungryrunnergirl :(

Reply

DEFINITELY the lace or the casual white they are both GORGEOUS and white would be amazing on you in pictures in my opinion!! I personally don’t like the floral at all.

Reply

I love running to Airplanes! The tempo is just perfect! You should checkout La Devotee by Panic! At the Disco. Great song, great tempo!

Reply

When my husband and I took our engagement photos, we did the first half in nice clothes, and then we changed into running clothes. My favorites from the photo shoot are actually in our running clothes! It was nice to have some nice, composed ones, and also some relaxed, playing around photos.

Reply

Chocolate coconut peanut butter sounds so yummy! Snapchat is my favorite form of social media too. I think it’s fun watching short clips of people’s days. :)

Reply

Hungryrunnergirl isn’t showing up for me either. Post your snap code on Instagram so we can add you that way (saw a few other commenters saying your username doesnt work for them either)

Reply

FYI snapchat doesn’t give me the option to add you! It may be your privacy settings or something just in case you wanna fix that ;)

Reply

Had to way in on the dresses :) FOR SURE that flowy long white Nordstrom one or the BR florals…both seem so YOU. And would be perfect for engagement pics, I think!!!!

Reply

I’ve NEVER done a trail run before but they look like a blast! I need to give it a try sometime! I’m sure my knees would thank me :)

I love Instagram probably the best right now.

I ALWAYS pick Mexican no matter what! It’s addicting.

Reply

I LOVE reading about all the accomplishments! So inspiring!

I love Mexican food. I eat tacos ATLEAST 4 times a week. My sister teases me about how many bags and different kinds of taco shells I always have in my kitchen. I would happily eat Mexican food every single day of my life!

Reply

We did our engagement pics in the fall and wore blue and burgundy in the pumpkin patch. I was just thinking today that if I did it again I would wear something white and put my guy in a blue suit for more of a classic look. Don’t do floral in case you hate the dress in a year.

Reply

My choice is the long casual dress. There is vintage elegance about it which I love! And you definitely should take some fun photos in running clothes.
I really like Mexican food, but hate onions so it’s always hard finding something I can eat.
I always look forward to my solo Saturday runs and will probably do around 5 miles.

Reply

I LOVE the lace dress!!

Reply

I have to say I LOVE the lace dress. But you will be beautiful in any of those. :)

Reply

I have been hesitating getting on snap chat but I’m starting to think I need to! Congrats on picking out a venue, that’s so exciting!

I have a half marathon here in Atlanta Sunday. Think cool thoughts please, it’s called the Hotlanta Half and it is really going to be HOT…..

Reply

Definitely do some engagement photos in your running clothes. I’m a professional photographer, and I love it when my clients do really personalized sessions. I’ve done a couple with runners- they’re adorable! :) Message me if you want some photos as inspiration!
I just did quite a few trails during Ragnar Chicago this weekend… our team did a great job in the heat. It was in the 90s here in Wisconsin and Illinois!
