Post-Race Festivities and Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Sunday!  I hope today is full of relaxing and doing your favorite things!  Yesterday’s race was (surprisingly) great and I’ll have a full race report for you tomorrow morning.  I finished in 1:26:08 and this race made me really excited about where I can take my half times this year.

Brooke always makes me feel pretty awesome after a race by asking me questions and staring at the race medal for quite some time.

Yesterday my mom told me that Brooke did some chores for her while I was gone to earn money for a Mother’s Day gift.  For real?  Both my mom and Brooke are the best.

After the race and picking up Brooke we went straight for some Jamba Juice to get a pb and chocolate smoothie.

IMG 6992

While we were sitting there drinking our smoothies my garmin beeped at me to move…. Hmmmm my 1/2 marathon was enough movement for the entire weekend.

IMG 6994

There was a lot of relaxing and play-doh and Brooke making crazy faces for me.

IMG 6997

And our favorite—>  baking.  We had a bridal shower to go to so I made my s’mores bars to take a long with us.

Check out these amazing cookies that were there… one of the guests made these.  They were almost too pretty to eat!

IMG 7006

My stomach felt pretty wrecked after the race and I couldn’t eat much besides my smoothie but finally by dinner I was ready to eat.  All-You-Can-Eat sushi was the best idea possible.  I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much sushi at one time but it was so ridiculously good and it hit the spot.

IMG 7010

Sushi was followed with a 3d IMAX movie (Captain America: Civil War——>  super long movie but that’s good for recovery right?!)

IMG 7011

Post-race—>  the stairs up to our seats were almost too much.  My legs were burning!

IMG 7012

And I ended the night with awesome raspberries and my feet up on the wall (feels so so good).

IMG 7014

Happy happy Mother’s Day to the amazing women out there that love, serve, teach and reach out to others constantly!  I sure lucked out with the selfless/kind/wonderful/thoughtful/beautiful/hilarious women in my life.  I think you’ve been able to tell over the years of blogging that I’ve got an incredible mom.

And an incredible Mer.

And my favorite little clip about Mother’s Day!

Enjoy your Sunday and feel free to tell me three things that you’ve got going on today!!!

Thank you for the link to the s’mores recipe. My girls are now drooling because they are obsessed with s’mores…they eat them every night for a snack!
Congrats on the great race time! I can’t wait to read about it tomorrow.

Happy Mother’s Day! Three things today are church, run with my husband, and calling my mom and mother-in-law for Mother’s Day!

Congrats on your race! I’m always so excited for the post-race meal, but I find my stomach isn’t ready for it until at least that evening–but often not until the next day. I guess that just means I get to enjoy the post-race celebrations for even longer?! I have a marathon next weekend…I might steal your all you can eat sushi idea. :)

I went to civil war yesterday too. It was a long movie? It was still pretty good though.

Firstly, congrats on your 1/2!!! You rock and you are truly an inspiration. (PS, I have IBS and I have issues through about 1/2 of my races :(
Secondly, happy Mama’s Day!!
Thirdly, my plans for today include a 7 mile run with my bestie and no music or watch (because 7 miles is the best loop by my house!) a whole lotta coffee and family over for smoked tri tip, salad, roasted veggies, a scratch carrot cake and butterfinger pie! Yummo!

I don’t know you in real life, but I was thinking about all of the amazing, inspirational and strong mom-friends I have, and how much I’ve leaned on their example when I became a mom also, and I actually thought about your blog. It’s really obvious, and wonderful, seeing how much you love being a mom. I know it’s not always easy, especially being a most-of-the-time single parent, but you’re rocking it!! I hope you have a great day!!

Wow. Mollie. Your comment means the world to me. I cannot thank you enough for your sweet words and encouragement… screenshotting your comment so I can remember it. I hope your Sunday is beautiful!

Congrats on your half marathon, speedy! I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Now I have to go binge read your blog from the last week since I was on a cruise in Europe and had terrible wifi. It really made me appreciate the wifi speeds we have at home. They’re almost as fast as you ;)

That’s a great half marathon time!

I hope you have a great Mother’s Day. I gave a challenge on my blog today to reach out to those strong women in your life. So I’m doing my own challenge: Though I’m not a mom and have been wanting to be a mom for the past 7 years, you, Janae have been a wonderful example of what a great mom is. You work so hard at running, staying fit and being active, and providing for you and Brooke.

I plan to call my mom and tell her how amazing she is, and enjoy the nice weather (it’s finally not raining in NYC) by going for a very long walk.

This post makes me so happy Janae! Love love. Congrats on a super awesome race time! Exciting, yes! Love that your sweet girl asked to do chores so she could buy you a gift. So sweet! Can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

Hi Janae! You should look to see whether there is somewhere in your neck of the woods that have Normtec compression boots. They are the bomb.com in terms of recovery. We have a sports recovery centre here in Windsor, ON that has them and I am there at least 3 times a week (more if I can swing it) to sit in the boots for 30 minutes. I especially make it out there before a big race or directly after a long training session or hard race. It’s been amazing for my recovery and I can feel completely fresh the next day. I realize now that I sound like an infomercial but they are seriously the best!
