It sure changes a lot part 2, Launch 3 review and what we’ve been up to lately.

Just like our pace changes over the months… our distance perception sure changes a lot throughout the year too!  I was pretty spent the other day by the end of what used to be a normal/more causal/daily distance just a few months ago.

10 miles total and it felt like 20 but I am just happy to get in some double digit runs again.  Now when I read about other people running 18, 20 or 22 miles I get tired just thinking about it yet during marathon training those distances are still hard but very doable.  When we are getting towards the end of a marathon training cycle a 10 mile run on a weekend morning feels like we are taking a vacation compared to what we normally do on the weekends.

Any other gym goers have a favorite treadmill/elliptical/stair climber that they are kind of obsessed with?  I don’t know why I love it so much but if it is taken when I get there I keep my eyes on it until the person gets off and then I can make it mine.

PicMonkey Cofllage

I have been a PureFlow/PureCadence girl for years.  Years!  I still love them dearly but after my latest marathon I decided to switch things up a bit and try out some different shoes because I feel like my feet need a little bit more shoe/support these days.  When I am in training mode again for a race I will go back to my PureCadence 4s for speed work and tempo runs because I feel like I can fly in those.  I will be sticking to the Launch 3s for all of the other runs because my feet and body are responding really well to them.

The Launch 3s come in at 7.9 oz.  Looking at them I thought they would be heavier than they are but I am loving the amount of cushion I am getting without them feeling clunky/heavy—>  I get the best of both worlds with these—> extremely comfortable shoes with plenty of support while still feeling lightweight.  The heel to toe drop is 10mm.   These shoes are great for medium to high arches… my arches have been feeling so much better in these because I was needing some extra support there!  The BioMoGo DNA makes it so that the cushioning/shoe adjusts to your weight, pace, gait, running surface and the way you run… giving you the best ride for you personally.  They aren’t quite as flexible as the Pure line (in my opinion) but a little bit more firmness is actually what my feet were needing lately.

The breathability (the upper of this shoes is air mesh allowing for great air flow) is awesome—>  I have used these in the hot gym a ton already and my feet stay nice and cool.  I have done 3 speed workouts in these shoes too and I definitely noticed the added rubber in the forefoot which makes it easier to spring forward with each step.  Actually, maybe I will still do tempo runs in these when training for my next marathon… so many tough decisions these days;)

They are $100 and who doesn’t love a hot pink running shoe (the black ones with the light green base are pretty darn cute too).  PS in the heel of the shoe it says to Run Happy which is a great reminder each time I put my running shoes on.  I’ve put about 175 miles on these already and I’m guessing I will get another 200-300 for sure out of them (I’ll let you know)!

In other news, I have been doubling it up with the water bottles at the gym.  My movie theater mug full of 40% ice and 60% water works wonderfully.

Let’s talk about some things going down in our neck of the woods since we last caught up.

-Two of Brooke’s friends came over the other morning and they kept quite busy in Brooke’s room.

IMG 5392

-It might have been kind of rude of me to wear this donut tank to boot camp.  I’m sure it made some of us crave donuts while Megan was giving us a killer strength workout.

IMG 5427

-You have to start getting pretty creative when it comes to playing hide-and-seek in a two bedroom apartment.

IMG 5422

-I got to snuggle up with Brooke while she slept in my arms over at my mom’s house.

IMG 5436

-Brooke made this for me at pre-school.  This is one of those things that I will keep for the rest of my life.

IMG 5340

-Still making sure to get in plenty of singing.

IMG 5313

-Brooke hung out at Lindsey’s house for a few minutes the other day and when I came over I found Brooke completely pampered and snuggled up on the couch watching Toy Story with snacks and blankets.  She even has my friends wrapped around her finger.

IMG 5315

-Just wearing a long sleeve shirt, two sweatshirts and a coat around town.  Yesterday was out of control cold.

IMG 5418

-Does anyone else end up watching every single one of these Tip Hero food making videos that they come across on Facebook.  I even watch the ones that don’t sound very good to me because they make it all look so easy and delicious.  I don’t want to know how much time I spent during my last insomnia night watching these.

IMG 4696

-I can’t even tell when she is faking asleep;)

Years ago I went through a lot of shoes and some of them were terrible for me and contributed to injuries. Now I stick with what I know will work and don’t really experiment. I’m also going through where 10 miles feels like a really long run! Crazy how it changes so much and so fast.

Reply

There are so many shoes I want to try but I’ve been running in Asics Nimbus since 2006 and haven’t been injured, so I’m kinda paranoid that if I switched I’ll end up hurt!

I used to have a favorite treadmill at the gym too. I’d get so annoyed when someone else was on it when I was there to run! Now that I have a treadmill at home I don’t have to worry about that problem! ;)

I’m having so much trouble with my shoes right now! I have the new pureflow5’s and I’ve always always been obsessed with them, but the tongue in the new one is literally cutting my ankles so bad that my legs bleed after each run (not good)! My friends all work at fleet feet so when I was there the other day we just took some good scissors and trimmed them, but even then they still cut but not as badly.

Has that happened to you?

I’ve finally gotten to try the new launch too! It’s a fantastic shoe, but I just can’t do the 10mm drop. For now I’m sticking with my Pureflows but doubling up on socks/bandaids and I have a Kinvara and some Newtons in the rotation to keep it from getting too bad. I’m so sad about it though!

Reply

I’ve been wearing the PureFlows for the past year and I love the 4s, but I heard the new pureflows are a combination of the Pure Connects and the Pure Flows (I think they got rid of the connects). I looked at the 5s after I saw your comment and I’m a little disappointed, but on the bright side you can still get the PureFlow 4s on sale at Runningwarehouse.com. They only have the turquouise I think left, but just an option if you want to stock up on those before they go away.

If I am doing a long-ish run on the treadmill I do the double water bottle with ice thing too! Expect I usually fill one with water and one completely with ice. I then add fill up the water bottle with water from the fountain and add ice as many times as necessary. It takes me much longer to run 10-20 miles than it does you though :).

I definitely have a favorite treadmill and if someone else is using it I keep an eye on it too. Depending on how long my run is I might not switch but on long runs I definitely switch!

We just got the launch 3 into work and people have responded to them well. I’ve honestly found I need a lot more cushion amd tend to migrate towards shoes with me cushion like the Saucony triumph or from Brooks would be the glycerin. I’ve bought a few shoes that just didn’t work for me and instead of trying to force it, I just gave them away. There is no point in being injured over a pair of shoes. Injury costs would outweigh buying a new pair to be honest LOL.

Reply

I honestly have loved the pureline of brooks until last year when they changed the shoe (mm drop & narrowness) but the new ones are back to 4mm and look amazing! i’m hoping those and maybe the launches will be my new go tos. I’m finding like you, i need a little more support for the long runs

Reply

I’ve been loving my Pure Flow’s lately, but I need a new shoe for marathon training. Might have to try out the Launch! They’re so cute, and Brooks just work for my feet :) Yesterday was a great run for me…it finally snowed in Pittsburgh and the trail that I run on was just gorgeous. I also saw about 10 deer all together, and it was just picture perfect, plus my legs felt great!

Reply

I wore the brooks ghosts for a while but the most recent model bothered my feet. Now I wear asics cumulus. But I am always looking for options. I need cushion but not stability.

Reply

Oh my goodness so many things about this I want to comment on! haha!

First, I totally understand about the 10 milers feeling SO long when 18-20 used to feel hard but doable. Isn’t it crazy how our bodies adapt like that?

Also, I play hide and go seek with my nephew in a small space and it’s most definitely hard. haha!!

My mom still has one of those hand print things that I made in preschool. How stinkin sweet to have something that you know that you’ll have forever. Adore you two!!

Reply

It’s so funny you wrote about favorite treadmills at the gym! I definitely have mine, and noticed that it was taken this morning so kind of kept looking at the person running until they got off. I’m glad I’m not the only one!! :)

Reply

I have the Brooks Launch 2 and like you, I love them for longer runs, easy days, and general aerobic workouts. I don’t wear them for speedwork or short races, but the arch support in the Launch is great. They have just enough cushion and support too and aren’t super heavy. It’s crazy how perception of long run changes when you train for a half or full marathon!

Reply

I am 100% in love with my Launch 2’s and cannot wait to try out the 3’s. I was an Adrenaline girl prior and I don’t know that I’ll ever go back. ;)

Wisconsin has been ridiculously cold as of late as well and running outdoors has been less than ideal. On Saturday I decided to give it a go because it was about 25 degrees and not too windy. We moved in October and I am really enjoying getting longer runs in now that we’re more in the “country”. The scenery is great and on my run Saturday I found a couple ridiculous hills about two miles from home. Like you I need to incorporate more hills into my training so I was elated to find some great ones so close to home that I can make them part of my usual running routine.

Stay warm!!

Reply

I LOVE the Saucony Kinvaras. I have been wearing them for a while, and they are the perfect shoe for me. I tried the Brooks PureFlows and PureCadence, but those didn’t work out so great. While I’m not really a Brooks person, I must say I’m a huge fan of those hot pink shoes!! :)

Reply

I never branch out and try new running shoes once I find a pair that works for me! I had a brand that worked in high school and moved away from it in college and got a stress fracture. I have no idea if those are related, but since then, I try not to branch out!

My best run lately was a 15 mile run at a 7:57 pace. When I signed up for the Salt Lake City Half Marathon last fall, I guessed my pace would be 8:20. Now, I’m running over twenty seconds faster than that over a longer distance during a training run! It’s pretty exciting. :)

Reply

I usually pick my “favorite” treadmill based on what’s on TV (I can’t change the channel). But I always always avoid the one I fell off of 7 years ago. Scarring!

Reply

I am loving the New Balance Zantes SO much lately! They are light enough for speed work but still have enough padding for longer runs. This has been workout out PERFECTLY for my long runs as my coach has had me doing more workouts during my long runs! I even have a 2nd pair waiting in my closet when these wear down.

Reply

I just bought a bunch of new shoes to try! This morning I ran in my Nike LunarGlides for the first time and I really like them! They also have a big drop of 10mm, and a very cushion-y ride. Plus the colors they come in are beauuutiful! I also love how huge the toe box is, lots of room for them to wiggle around in there! I’ve also tried the 870v4s from New Balance lately which were disappointing, because I LOVED LOVED LOVED the v3s, but the updates they made didn’t work for me. And lastly the 1500v1s from New Balance, which will be my go-to track/speed work shoe! I might have a shoe problem :)

Best run I’ve had lately was my long run this past Saturday! It was raining and a little chilly but I felt like a billion bucks!

I don’t really have a favorite treadmill at my gym, I just stay away from all the new ones because I got too used to the old ones :)

Reply

I wear the Pure Flows and Pure Connects, and I know Brooks is discontinuing the Connects. I looked at the flow 5s and didn’t like them as much as the older models, but the new Launches look so nice and light! My husband just started in them and loves them! I’ve had several great runs lately, including a tempo run yesterday that felt amazing.

Reply

We switch up our shoes so much and it really all depends on the length of the run or race. In a 100 mile race, we may actually switch out shoes 3-4 times. We try to keep our feet as dry as possible, so we are switching at almost every drop bag location if there are tons of creek crossings.
We had some good runs last week, but we are trying to pull back this week to let my injury heal. You can check out more on our blog, but I am trying to stay positive while cross training, which is super hard for me, but I get motivation from reading HRG old posts from when you were injured!

Reply

I was an Asics-wearer all through my high school cross country days, switched to Mizunos during college, and am now wearing Nike Zoom Vomeros for my half marathon training. I absolutely love the Nikes, plus they look awesome, which is always a plus!

I’ve been struggling with the end of my training cycle just not feeling great on runs, so on a run last week, I was anticipating it hurting. To my surprise, the run felt much easier than expected, plus I tried out a new playlist, which switched things up and made the run more fun!

Reply

I do try new shoes and have had pretty good luck. Right now I am liking the Brooks Ghost 8s and the Asics cumulus. My Kinvaras are worn out but I liked them too for speed work.
I had a great 5 mile, run on Monday with 4x800s. I felt strong and can see how my speed work is paying off! Good thing for my marathon relay on January 30th!

Reply

I actually just bought the Launch 2’s since I love a good sale, and I’m loving them. I’m sure I’ll end up with the Launch 3 at some point this year – love your hot pink ones! My Cascadia 10s for trail running are my absolute favorite though. My best run this past week was actually my 10 miler on Saturday. I felt great the entire time, maybe it was because I was watching Meet the Fockers on Netflix? I’ll take it though!

Reply

I’m going through a pretty rough patch with running shoes, because they changed the tongue & toe box on my beloved Brooks Ravenna & now they just feel ALL WRONG. I’ve been trying to make the 3 pairs I have last, but I have to fact facts, I’m going to need a new pair shortly.

I definitely have a favorite treadmill. And it has a TV where all the captions work right so I can watch Good Morning America on mute & listen to my music instead but still know what’s going on. Haha.

Reply

I pretty much stuck with Saucony and Mizunos for running shoes. I’ve tried so many throughout he years and that’s just what’s stuck for me and worked best and you never want to change them and risk injury.

Reply

haha I am suuuuper weird about my treadmills at the gym too! There are only a couple I like so most of the time I will wait until one of those 2 open up even if like 5 others are open… #runnerproblems

Happy Wednesday!

The Launch2 is my fave shoe right now. Loved them straight out of the box and it’s made me love Brooks again and I want to try the Pure line as well. It’s definitely firmer but not too much. It’s basically perfect. I just wish they came in more/better colors. Only problem I’ve found with them is that while, as you said, the upper is extremely breathable it means I can’t run in it when temps fall below zero. Toes froze real quick. It’s a fairweather shoe, for sure.

Reply

I’ve recently switched from Mizunos & a brief stint with Asics to New Balance. The NB 1500v2’s are out of this world perfect. I’m used to wearing a clunkier show so the lightweight shoe and closer to ground feel are phenomenal. Super light with a bit of cushion. I feel like I’m doing more of a mid-forefoot strike to as opposed to a heel. These are great for tempos or speed and have a bit of traction for snow (and we have tons where I live). My steps-per-minute used to always be in the 160s but since wearing these I’m around 177 spm! I haven’t done a super long-run in them yet, coming back from injury and my longest run is only 18k , I recently ordered the NB Vazee Prism which have a bit more cushion & stability so I’ll try it for longer runs in case I feel I need more shoe. Not sure how I feel about stability though so I’ll see how I find them.

I love the Brooks pure flows! I talked my sister into getting them too and when she opened up a pair on Christmas I think I may have been more excited than her haha.

Reply

I totally watch every single one of those tasty tip videos too!! They’re so much fun!

My favorite recent run was a 9-miler I tackled in the middle of last week. I had stayed up so late the night before and was running on little sleep but somehow held a quick pace (which felt easy) and the weather was perfect outside. Always feels great when you surprise yourself with your pace!

Reply

In general I don’t switch around shoes but sometimes have to when updates change my traditional favorites too much. Right now I am using Brooks Ghost 8 for regular runs and Asics GT 2000-3 for long runs. I’m not doing speed work because all my regular miles are done with a stroller and…ugh, just no. (The occasional times I get to run stroller-free I will do faster paced, not-quite-tempo runs.)

I have 2 different pairs of running shoes. My first pair are New Balance (minimalist type). They started to get worn down and I ended up getting some serious shin splints and calf muscle pain. My husband bought me a new pair which I had never heard of called Inov8s. THEY ARE AWESOME!! Hot pink of course and super comfy. I think I may try a pair of Brooks as my next pair…. I may just stick to Inov8s. =)

My best run in the last few weeks was last night. I am just now getting back into running after taking 3.5 months off. This is rough. It was taking me 30 minutes to go 2 miles. Most of the time my lungs just can’t handle it and I have to slow down for a bit until I can get my heart rate down. Last night however, my legs were giving up before my lungs. I was able to run longer without needing to stop. I cut a minute off my mile time! I will eventually get all the way back into running, but until then baby steps! =)

When I was going to a gym I didn’t have a specific treadmill I liked, I just had to have at least 1 treadmill between me and people I didn’t know.

Reply

When I was in high school I tried a new kind of mizunos out and it killed my foot. I couldn’t even walk on it normal for weeks. I can’t remember what shoes they were but I went back to the wave riders and haven’t tried anything new since then. I know they work for me and I hate the idea of injury again. But I think next time I get a new shoe I will also try some brooks out because I’ve heard a lot of great things about them.

Brooke is too funny and adorable for her own good! I love that she’s got literally everyone in her life wrapped around her fingers. How could you not though!

I have the launch 2s and they are perfect right now. They have been making my feet feel so great after the whole aggravated tendon thing. I need a shoe with more cushion because I run on concrete a lot so I’m sticking with these for a while.
I have some Nikes that I had to stop wearing for running but they work out nicely for a spin class or strength training. I also wear those a lot for just walking around.
I did the treadmill hill workout that you recently posted and that was probably my favorite run! I NEVER do any hills (I consider the sidewalk ramp a hill) when I run so I started this workout hoping to do at least half of it. I was able to do the whole workout and I DIDN’T stop at all!!! Definitely a confidence booster!
There are two treadmills at my apartment gym right now and once you get past two miles on one of them, it slows down to about a 1.5 setting and flashes COOL DOWN. It is the worst thing ever because it is usually right as I start enjoying the run so much. I always try and get the other treadmill because it’s perfect but sometimes there is someone on it and I’ll have to start on the crappy one and finish on my favorite treadmill. My favorite one also has arrows to increase your speed and incline by your hands which is really nice, especially for the hill workout or sprints!

Reply

I have been running in Launch 2’s for about a year and LOVE them! I’ll be due for new shoes again in a couple months and hope that I like the Launch 3’s just as much!

Before we moved and got our own treadmill, I definitely had preferred machines in the huge cardio area at my gym. It was all about positioning under the ceiling fans, but not directly under a light, and knowing which machines had janky, loud decks or broken TVs.

The real key was that if you had to go longer than 60 minutes, I fought like crazy to get one of “unlocked” treadmills, the ones that max out at 99 minutes vs. 60. There were only three of them and it always drove me nuts when I saw someone just casually walking and chatting on their phones while on one of those unlocked treadmills, when people clearly training for something serious kept having to restart at 60 minutes on the other machines.

Love the donut tank! This past weekend I ran a race in which we had to eat 8 donuts and run 4 miles. I thought I might be able to do it, since I love donuts, and they were glazed donuts. Turns out the donuts were super large ones from a donut shop and I could only eat 4 of them (but really, it was like 8 donuts because they were so huge!). I have to sheepishly admit that I did leave the race with another donut in my hand (for later) because it was chocolate frosted with sprinkles!! Oh yum, I couldn’t resist!

Reply

I totally have a favourite treadmill at the gym. It is probably the most expensive one there so it is a hot item – I need to be there early to get it and the run is just so much better!

These days, I am running in New Balance Vazees but I keep switching them up and always am trying new shoes without too many issues.

Reply

Running shoes! That was such a battle when I was just starting out. When I was just running a mile maybe once or twice a week, I was wearing New Balance Minimus, but knew I needed an upgrade when I started training for my first marathon. I read everything, looked everywhere, talked to everyone. Over the course of finding the right shoe for me, I was fitted at two running stores, spent more than I should have on shoes that ultimately were not for me, and then finally landed on the Ghost and Glycerin models by Brooks. Talk about heaven!

And yes, I have a fave treadmill at the gym and still to this day can’t figure out why the gym won’t let me post a RESERVED sign. ;)

I’m obsessed with On cloudsters. BC (before cloudsters), I was super loyal to Nike’s. Then they changed and I tried Altra’s, which were great for longer distances and trail running. But I get obsessed with things and now it’s cloudsters (like your treadmill!). The best run I had this week was a 5 mile tempo run during lunch! I’ve been struggling with speed since having my baby and I was able to keep it well under 8 min pace. Yay!!! Plus you inspired me to stock up on kevita and having a great run then a beet kevita was on point.

Reply

After reading glowing reviews of the Pure Cadence and also Altras, I got brave and tried each pair out. After a few runs it was clear the Pure Cadence didn’t work for me. The Altras took longer for me to realize that they were contributing to ongoing problems (IT band, calfs) that I couldn’t seem to fix no matter what I did. Finally I went back to my tried and true Nike Frees and had zero issues while marathon training. I told my husband to never let me try to switch up my shoes again!

Best run was today! Finally was able to run pain free after falling down my garage stairs 3 weeks ago.

Any Asics neutral shoe works best for me. I’ve tried New Balance and Nike and both have been major disasters.

I have handprints from both my kids from preschool…they are now in their 20’s.
Brooke with her doll’s bed next to hers is so adorable, that pic made my day :)

I need a shoe with support, I end up with injuries otherwise. I tend to stick with Nikes for running but Brooke’s felt pretty good. Saucony’s kill the front of my foot.

I wasn’t expecting hill training to feel good last week. It was tough but not horrible. Since my hips have been sore I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do it or not. I felt great afterwards.

I do not have a favorite treadmill but I do have a favorite area. I don’t like to run where the free weights are. The grunting and dropping of weights drives me nuts.

Reply

I have the launch 2’s and they make me feel so fast! they dont have enough cushion for my long runs (knee issues) but I love them for speed work and tempo runs. mine are rainbow and they make me smile when Im running…which is hard to do when doing speed work lol

Reply

I’m also loving the Brooks Launch 2’s!

I know this isn’t a big deal to most of you crazy running ladies, but I’m just getting back into it and I ran 3 miles Monday morning when it was 26 degrees at 5:15am and I just felt BEAST! I can do hard things! I thought I had hung up my running shoes for good, but I know God created me to run. It feels so natural, even with the extra pound I’m carrying. Yea! I also found Nike frees to be awesome for me. I used to stick to Asics for the support, but I feel light and comfy in my Nike frees. Thanks so much inspiring me to get back out there!

Yes I have a magic treadmill and yes I stare down anyone that’s on it – especially if they are not working really hard!! I recently switched to Brooks Glycerin from Ravenna and my feet are doing well so far. Love Brooks but it’s tough when they make drastic changes to a shoe that is working just fine.

FYI Brooke’s looks are changing every day – and I think she is looking so much like YOU! She is beautiful.

Yes, I totally watch those videos on FB – I try to just go past them…but they get me every time!! lol

Before I got my TM at home, I definitely had “my” treadmill at the gym! Us runners are weird!! lol

I had my first team track practice of 2016 last night…killer…but sooooo good afterwards!!

That donut tank top is EVERYTHING.

I was convinced. She was totally sleeping.

At the gym, I like the treadmill in the corner. And I’m the lone runner who’s not racing.

I definitely have “my” treadmill at the gym. The other ones just don’t feel right! I used to be all Mizuno but found the Saucony Kinvara’s and am now obsessed. I just got the virrata’s as well for some speed workouts. Their shoes just fit me right. Brooks sadly have never fit me comfortably which is a bummer.

Reply

You had me at Launch 3’s! I have loved my Launches for training, they just feel good for those long distances. I’m going to have to do a little shopping later today. I also really like Asics 2000’s and 1000’s. My best run this week was my tough tempo workout, it hurt but I powered through and I needed that little confidence booster before my half marathon on Saturday. Happy running!

I switched from Brooks to Nikes for two runs and I hated it with a passion, I immediately went back to my GTS. I do want to try some of the other Brook’s shoes but I’m always afraid since I’m so comfortable in the ones I have! Love the donut tank!

Reply

Not gonna lie, even those PICTURES of your treadmill make me shudder with disdain. I need to get over my hatred of them.

I’ve been wearing Adidas Boosts for close to a year now and they’ve been working great! But this morning, I started getting some sharp pains beneath my second toe in the ball of my left foot, so I think it may be time to get some new shoes. I’ve definitely put in several hundred miles on these, so I think I’m due.

For the past few days it’s been about 40 degress on my morning runs, which I dreaded at first, but I’ve come to actually kind of enjoy the cold! The only downside is that my nose likes to run in the cold, as well.

Reply

I am totally with you on the favorite treadmill! However, part of it has to do with how good the Wifi works in that area of the gym ha. I hate when my shows pause on Netflix because the connect was slow or lost. I am wearing Brooks Pure Cadence right now and I really like them, but they are kind of on their last leg so I need to get some new ones. I had some Nikes a few years back (I don’t remember what kind), but they were the worst running shoes for me personally. :( I had no support for my arches and yeah it was bad ha.

Reply

Love the donut tank top! Where can I get that? I run in Saucony and love them. I have had only 1 pair of shoes that didn’t work for me. Luckily my running store offers a 3 month return policy. I was able to return them in a couple of months and found a pair that worked for me.

Since getting plantar fasciitis I have been on a mission to find the best shoes for me. So yeah I like to change it up. Right now I am currently running on the Brooks Glycerin and so far I love them! Oh and I totally agree on how your perception of long runs changes. Totally mental!

I love Brooks for running and Nike for strength training. I had a great run last night on my treadmill while catching up on the Bachelor. It was one of those runs where you just feel like you can keep going forever… love when that happens!

What running shoes are you loving these days? Do you ever branch out and try different ones or do you stick to your favorites?
***I have some Brooks Ghost 7 that are my loves at the moment.

Ever bought a pair of running shoes that just did not work out for you and your body? ***Yes. Please don’t shoot me when you read this. I bought the Brooks Pureflow and they near about KILLED my feet. That little bone that pokes out on the inside of the foot, sort of at the base of the big toe? After a few runs I thought I had broken it. I did sell them for just about what I paid though, so that was good.

Tell me about the best run that you have had in the last week or two!! I want to know what was so great about it!
***No good runs. Almost 6 months pregnant and it’s so hard this time around. With my last baby (6 yrs ago) I ran up until 8 months. This time I’m walking incline a lot.

Gym goers—> do you have a favorite treadmill (or other cardio machine) there?
***Oh my gosh, yes. If loving a certain treadmill is wrong, I don’t want to be right. And sometimes it’s taken and I’ll do exactly what you did, start on another one until they leave and then jump on it!

Still babying my Asics GT-2170 women’s shoes (yes really).

Bought some Hoka One One Bondi 3s. They really just didn’t work for me. Just wear them for recovery runs and treadmill walks at this point.

Sadly, haven’t run in two weeks! Too many sick people, myself included, in my household. But I will be running come Sunday or so. Because Friday I fly back to Germany for 3 weeks and I just want those GPS traces.

I’m wearing the Saucony Ride 8 (I’ve had the 6 and 7, too!) They’re working great. I’ve tried other shoes, but Saucony works best for my size 5 foot.

I had a great run this morning! We flew to Oahu yesterday and usually my first Hawaii run is kind of painful because of the weather, but I crushed today’s 4 miler. Hours later I’m still enjoying my Runner’s HI!

I usually just buy whatever shoes are on clearance.

I’m a Ravenna girl. I love the 5s. I have two pairs of 6’s that I haven’t worn yet. I’m really hoping I love them just as much. Right niw, I’m running in Mizuno Wave Inspire. They are a good backup but I don’t LOVE them.

I tried so hard to not develop an attachment to a particular cardio machine at the gym. I failed.

Funny you talk about shoes in this post, because I just tried out a new trail shoe last weekend.
I am a Brooks Cascadia for the trails kind of girl (we have awesome, technical, rocky trails here in NorCal) but a friend raved about the Brooks PureGrit, so I got a pair to wear on Sunday’s trail run. My injury-free body went to a painful Achilles tendon within 3 miles of our 10mile trail run! Hurt SO bad. I guess the drop in the shoe is too low for me (4mm vs. 10 in the Cascadia’s). And after some research I see my Asics Gel Nimbus Road shoes are a 13mm drop! Apparently I like a cushiony shoe with a generous drop) So I was lucky enough to return to PureGrits, get my precious Cascadias back and I’m icing a sore Achilles this week :( I know what works for me, so I don’t know why I felt the need to change it up!

Front row ( best for people watching) second from the right (directly under the fan, which helps with my sweating *ahem* problem)

Now, when it comes to the stepmill, the best one is the one that is open. #MyGymNeeds4MoreStepmills #InjuredRunnerProblems

Ok sooo I swear I thought I was the only one that is obsessed with running on one treadmill. I cannot handle switching it up…. Creature of habit I guess. I switch my shoes daily and rotate, so I have asics nimbus or cumulus one day then the next mizuno wave rider, the repeat. This doctor I work with runs mega marathons and he gave me the tip to change my shoes daily so ever since I’ve done it I haven’t gotten any more stress fractures. Hope this is a helpful tip :)

I don’t have a favorite treadmill but I just wrote about my gym pet peeves and one is when someone gets on the treadmill right next to me when there are 20+ open! Maybe the one next to me is the “golden ticket”? Ugh I hate it though!

Funny you should mention the treadmills. I finally bought my own treadmill this past fall – a Proform. I love it. I didn’t realize how much until I got on another one at the hotel this morning. Ugh. Very short and just not a comfortable run.

I have always worn Brooks but have been sticking with the Ravennnas because I have a high arch. I am very excited to try the new Launch. But must wait to get some more miles on these.

I had a favorite treadmill at my old gym. It was close to the fan (a must!) and right in front of the mirror. I struggle with finishing treadmill workouts but if I have to look myself in the eye to quit I’m not gonna quit.
