10 Things I really Need to Tell You.

1.  So, one of the main reasons we are moving is so that we can get a dog.  We are both dying of excitement.  When I asked Brooke what we will name our dog (we still don’t know what kind yet because where we are moving only allows certain dogs/sizes/etc) she said,

“We will name her Ginger.  Short for Gingerbread.”

Yep.  It is decided.

IMG 6466

2.  Loving that I am still able to get my heart rate up while keeping my foot happy.

IMG 6471

3.  I’ve had a few people ask about what shoes I am cross-training in… I am loving THESE NIKES.  I am saving my running shoes for running and I’ve tried a bunch of different cross-training shoes to determine what feels best for my feet and these win.  So crazy comfortable and my feet feel free.  I definitely couldn’t run in these though.  My Brooks January socks of the month are pretty great too.

IMG 6475

4. Fuller House starts on February 28th on Netflix so that is pretty exciting.

5.  I got to spend some time with the AMAZING Toby.  So once upon a time she did a 50-mile trail race.  My hero.  Someday I will get there.

IMG 6486

6.  Why is even just driving around town in the car more fun when my sister is with us?!?

IMG 6493

7.  We took my sis to see our new place and Brooke gave her the full tour.

IMG 6490

8.  Just a note about my spin post the other day—>  if your knees are hurting then try adjusting your bike.  If your bike isn’t set to your body then it can cause all sorts of problems.  If you are a newby then make sure to go to class early and tell the teacher you are new and to help you set up!  The seat should come right to your hip when you are standing next to it!  This is an awesome article about mistakes and how to fix it when setting up your bike!

IMG 6478

9.  100%.  And I think in my 30s I will just want my mom to make all of my decisions without me even knowing about them.

IMG 6433

10.  We practice the fish face quite frequently and it is even better after she has just eaten some oreos;)

I just got a new cat named Penny! We got her m Saturday and she is already right at home like she owns the place. Full House has always been a favorite of mine and I can’t wait for the new show to start.
I hope you have a great move to the new place!

I have a rescue lab named Gary! PLEASE don’t buy a dog; rescue is the only way to go to avoid fueling a system that fills city shelters with strays!

Reply

Totally agree! I volunteer dog walk at a shelter and the number of cats and dogs that are put down due to overcrowding is heartbreaking.

Reply

Yes! Please adopt! Getting a new dog is so exciting! :)

Reply

100% agree, we just got a rescue beagle. She was with her foster home for 4 months due to heartworm treatment, but they were able to tell us so much about her and she is awesome!!!! Oh her name was Chloe and we loved it so she is still Chloe.

Reply

i 100% agree

We have a Manchester Terrier/Chi mix named Willie. He rarely gets called that though. We call him Will Dog, Doggie, Doggity. I’m pretty sure he thinks he is a people and not a dog.

I crosstrain in Nikes too. I wear them without socks.

YES! I loved Full House. I can’t wait for Fuller House!

I did PiYo Sweat. No running because I’m having hip issues. Doctor on Monday after 28 days of on and off pain. STINKS!

Reply

I have a Cavalier King Charles named Rosie. She is WONDERFUL with kids and volunteers at a children’s hospital as a therapy dog. There are a few rescue organizations like Cavalier Rescue USA and Lucky Star where you can adopt this breed.

Reply

Cavaliers are the best dogs in the world!!!

Reply

I agree, Cavaliers are amazing, soft, cute, cuddly dogs!

Reply

I have two Cavaliers and they are the BEST dogs with kids. I think the breed would be perfect for an apartment. They’re very sweet, love to be around us constantly, are eager to please, smart, playful when my kids want to play, but calm other times, not barkers…they do shed more than other dogs we’ve had, but we just vacuum a lot. Both of ours sleep with my daughter and take over her bed. Many times I’ll find her squished up against the wall, but she loves them.

Ginger is a perfect name!

Reply

I love the idea of naming your dog Gingerbread and calling it Ginger! So stinkin cute.

I can’t wait for Fuller House although I don’t want to get my expectations up too high! What in the world are they going to do about not having a Michelle?! Don’t tell me that they’re going to have someone else play her or talk about her like she moved away or something? I’m very curious!

Tonights track work: 1.25 Mile Warm Up, 5 x 1,000m w/400m jogging recovery, 1.25 Mile Cool Down and I cross train in Asics DS Trainers!

I heard they were going to say she is in New York working on fashion, which is what the Olsens are really doing…

Reply

We have a lab named Sam. We love him alot. Even when he’s crazy. We keep an ongoing list of dog names for when we get more pets. Ginger is a good name!

I loved Full House! I’m excited for the reboot, I hope it turns out well!

I’m pretty excited, I have a 4 mile run today, which seems so short after the workouts the rest of the week! Plenty of time to read and relax after that!

Reply

We have a crazy lab, too! She keeps us laughing.

Reply

I work with the visually impaired and the lab guide dogs are my favorite!! They have the absolute BEST personalities!!!

Reply

I couldn’t agree more. This is our 2nd lab–we love them. There are a few of my co workers that are training the guide dogs and I love to see them at work even though I can’t go play with them unless they take off their vests. They are just so adorable….so loyal.

Reply

Yay! I am so glad that you guys are finally getting a dog! I have followed your blog for years and I know how long you’ve wanted one! :) I love your Nikes! They have such cute designs! :)

Reply

Chewy and Han, we are Star Wars fan in our household! And yes, we have seen Star Wars more then once….

My red nikes are my go to cross train! I am very specific about my running shoes and they don’t come in any fun colors :( So I have to live it up when I can!

I watched Full House, but I was not a die hard fan. Saved by the bell had my name written all over it!

Today workout is a 3 mile run! Lets do this!

Reply

That’s exciting to be moving and good luck finding a dog. You should get a golden retriever since they can be a gingery color as well as Chesapeake bay labs!

I cross train in my old running shoes, I find softer ones such as Asics a little more comfortable since gel really never goes away.

Reply

My dogs name is Willow :) I keep a list of what I’m going to name my future dogs like someone above said, Fig and Olive are on the top of the list (for some reason they’re all types of trees lol)

Reply

Yay for getting a dog– and I love the name!!! :)

We are about to bring home a golden retriever puppy who we are naming Dallas after the city that will always be home to my husband and I (we recently moved). I had a golden retriever growing up and he was the BEST dog ever. I’ve wanted one for years and like y’all am SO excited to finally be at a time in life where we can get one!

Reply

Yay! I missed the last couple posts so I didn’t even know you’re moving. Congrats!

My cross training is done in the Nike Free Flyknit 4.0s. I am OBSESSED with them and how comfortable they are. Now if I could only afford 21566787 more pairs.

Reply

I literally just discovered Netflix. Heard about it for years and took the plunge this last weekend. LOVE.

Ginger is a genius name for a dog. Brooke is clearly a prodigy!

We have a dog named Kota. She’s a yellow lab and our kids adore her. She’s pretty spoiled.

Did a sweaty treadmill tempo run this morning!

Reply

I have a rabbit named Benjamin Bunny and a newly adopted kitty named Milo Man :) they’re BFFS.

Ginger is an amazing name, and I literally cannot wait to see pictures when you finally get a dog!!!!!!!!!

Reply

I’ve got a small labradoodle named Duncan. He’s 33 pounds of perfection. He’s the color of my coffee with cream so technically he’s named after Dunkin Donuts but I like the spelling better as Duncan =)

I cross train in my “retired” running sneakers mostly.

I totally watched Full House growing up.

What was your workout today?

Reply

Rex and Ruby two of the best mutts ever!!! Please, please, PLEASE rescue a dog from your local shelter!!!!!!

Reply

Yes – rescue dogs all the way! We have two husky-malamute mixes, both rescued, names Tokyo and Lucky. The best dogs ever, and they come running with me!

Reply

I had a dog named rusty growing up. My grandparents had a sweet dog named ginger.
Running is on the agenda tonight. Pregnancy running is a lot more different than running when not pregnant, I’m finding out.

Reply

Yay your getting a dog! Love the name gingerbread! My border collie is oreo for obvious reasons :)

Reply

I have a rescue puggle named Charlie! You should definitely consider rescueing for your dog, rescues have the sweetest hearts! Charlie was four months old when I adopted him.
I cross-train in old running shoes, especially minimal shoes. My main cross training activities are hiking and Pilates, which require either special footwear or none at all.

Our little man is Rocko and he is the other love of my life.

Griffon’s are great dogs for small house living and great with kids. they just looove people!

Reply

Our dog Missy, is a terrier/schnauzer mix – we think. She’s a good size – 31 pounds. Too big to carry around but I can lift her when necessary. Our cat is Saoirse, an American shorthair. Saoirse means freedom and since she spent her first 7 months in a crate I thought it was appropriate. Both are rescues.

I watched Full House but I wasn’t a kid. :)

My cross trainers are champion at the moment. I usually go for Asics though.

Reply

I remember watching Full House as a kid with my brother. We’d argue over who would “get to be” Michelle every episode!

Reply

I can’t have dogs right now at my place sadly, so I just rescued a kitty and I named her DONKEY :)

I think it is hilarious when animals have human names. Like I dogsat for a Henry. I also knew a Lou and Kevin…kills me.

Growing up we had a dog Ginger :)

Reply

I have a Pekingese named Sarah, my daughter has a Pekingese/Shih-tzu mix named Bruno and my son has a Lab mix named Xio. They are a lot of work but we adore them. :)

Reply

My dog is Bandit! https://www.instagram.com/banditthefrogdog/

Reply

I actually have another spinning question! I was so excited to see the workout as I’m 23 weeks pregnant and experiencing tailbone pain after the treadmill, so I need to back off a bit! Anyway, I actually did it yesterday (loved it!), but I kept trying to figure out how to adjust to fit my belly. Not a huge deal yet but will only get trickier. Would love to hear any thoughts you have!

Reply

We are getting our mini Goldendoodle puppy TOMORROW! We cannot wait. His name will be Easton. Our last name is West so he’s Easton West. :) It’s my husband’s favorite boy name and said “no way” to giving that first/last name combo to a human but it’s pretty darn cute for a dog.

I really recommend the breed — smart, no shedding, hypo-allergenic, great with kids, active. Our mini will max out at 40lbs. Just something to consider… :)

Reply

Please strongly consider adopting a rescue dog! There are sooo many wonderful rescues who need love.

Reply

Fuller House! So stoked!

Reply

When we get a dog (re: when I finally cave a d make my entire family happy) it will most likely be a lab. That is what I had growing up and I loved it. So excited about your new place AND getting a dog!

I think we need to have a Fuller House premier party. Have mercy!

Stepmill for my workout today. Alldayerrrday that machine has saved my sanity with this injury. That is fo sho!

But let’s be honest here. You can’t name your dog after me, I meam that (I guess) could be offensive to me OR make your other friends feel bad. So you will call it ginger. ..after your favorite red headed friend. It’s okay. Your secret is safe with me ;)

Reply

I feel like I should have mentioned my lab was named comet. You know, like that dog on Full House. #IAmSoCool

Reply

You and Brooke are going to have soooo much fun with a dog! In my opinion, its a blessing for kids to grow up with animals. We always had pets as kids…mostly cats, some furry critters, and some fish…

We have three cats…Pumpkin, Lily, and Basie. All rescues.

I cross train in pumas. They dont offer much support, but my cross training is not high demand. And since its mostly yoga…I’m usually barefoot!!

Today’s workout:
30 minute run
60 minute hot yoga bootcamp
75 minute hot vinyasa yoga.

Then I worked my jaw by eating all the food.

When we were kids (this is way back in the day when kids could walk to the store or park without an adult!) we walked to our neighborhood 7-11 and came back home with a puppy that a boy was giving away from his dog that had babies. Didn’t even ask our parents, just showed up at home with this cute little mutt puppy. Lol! Our parents let us keep him and we named him Slurpee because of getting him in front of the 7-11. He was a great dog!!

Reply

Congrats on the new apartment and the big decision to have a dog join your family. We have 2 Golden Retrievers that we adopted from a rescue.Cooper and Rogan. Most dog breeds have a rescue organization rehoming them. The dogs are all placed in foster homes and the behaviour and personalities of the dogs are determined and the dogs can then be placed in appropriate homes.Matches made in heaven..

Please strongly consider adopting rather than shopping. You will never regret the decision.

Reply

We got a shih-tzu puppy and named him Oliver! Brooke would love his pics (on my Instagram and blog)! He’s so precious & I got him at Pet Land!

Yes I watched FH religiously!

Workout was 7.6 miles with the Brentwood Breakfast Club here in Nashville!

Reply

LOL at having your mom make all your decisions without telling you in your 30s. I totally feel like that!

Thanks for the Nike rec. I’m looking for new x training shoes. I’ll check those out.

Reply

We have a rescued shi -tzu named Fancy Pants. Go to petfinder.org to find your doggie. Please don’t perpetuate the horrible awful puppy mills that sell to stores and the backyard breeders who can be just as bad. If you get your dog from the shelter, you save two lives: that of your new dog and the dog that takes your dog’s place. If you get a dog from a rescue, it’s like saving three: your dog. The dog from the shelter that takes your dog’s place in the rescue, and the dog that gets the vacated shelter spot. Rescues are the best!

I have 4 chihuahuas, but one of mine is older and not doing well so I might be getting a puppy chihuahua. Right now I have Lola who is 10 yrs old and 3 pounds, Diego is 4 lbs and is 5 yrs old, Bella is 9 yrs old and 4 lbs, and Paquito is 12 yrs old and 10 pounds. If I get a puppy her name will be Dora because Dora and Diego just go together:)! I absolutely love dogs!!

I absolutely loved Full House growing up. DJ was my favorite!

I usually use an older pair of running shoes Mizuno Wave Rider’s to cross train in, but I really like the looks of those Nikes!

Reply

3 dogs! Jakotzu–9 lb Shihtzu princess
Abel 60 lb Australian Shepherd
And Toj…my beast! 75lb Weimaraner! My running partner/coach! Lol

LOVED Full House growing up! I hope Fuller house is a hit!

8.28 hilly miles @7’31″per! Legs are tired and I’m so hungry! Lol, love me some marathon training!!!

Reply

Loved Full House! I actually (re-)watched all the Christmas specials this year to reminisce…

Random Question: Do you ever find that wearing a heart rate monitor causes exercise anxiety? Like you look at your wrist during a hard workout, see that your heart rate is already super high, and worry that you can’t possibly continue at that pace?

Reply

That’s the main reason I want to move too!! My dad just got the cutest golden retriever puppy today and her name is Lucy. I cannot wait to meet her! I also am obsessed with Full House. I still watch it on Nickelodeon when it’s on:) haha.

Reply

Ginger is the cutest name and so is that fish face! ;)

My doggies are Kai the shepherd and Colby the labby. They’re the BEST little running buddies, too. I usually just cross-train in Nikes or Brookes because I’m too lazy to venture out into new shoe land. I lurve me some Full House and super excited for the new show! My workout today was non-existent-boo hoo! Hopefully, I will be able to get one in by the end of the day *fingers crossed*

Reply

OMG you have an adorable daughter and you’re getting a dog?! Your blog following is definitely going to go up (you should track it when you add in the dog). I think I need to add a dog or kid to the mix to make my blog more enjoyable :) Maybe one day…

Henry, Arnie, Hunter, Jerry Seinfeld, Dora, Dudley, & Leo…and usually a couple of fosters too :) We love our rescues!

My dog is a rescue (highly recommend) and his name is Charlie………he is everything good in the world!

I have plantar fasciitis right now and I am going to the podiatrist next week! Yeah! My workout today consisted of cleaning my kitchen and removing all the cabinet doors. I am getting ready for a remodel! A great sweat was had.

Reply

I love the name Ginger, how perfect for Brooke’s first dog!
We have 2 Goldendoodles: Tallie (16 months) and Teddy (13 weeks) and 2 Siamese cats (age 7): Cocoa and Peppermint.

I did a 10k on the treadmill today for my workout.

I watched Full House on occasion, when my sister was watching it.

I wear my old Asics with too many miles when I cross train or I go barefoot (at home for weights and stretching).

Congrats on the new place that is so exciting!

Reply

I have a cross eyed Siamese cat named Harley (named by his previous owner for sounding like a Harley Davidson when he purrs) and a black and tan dachshund named….GINGER!!! therefore I think Ginger is the best doggie name out there ;) I have had her since I was 8 years old (I’m 22 now and she will be 14 Monday) and I named her ginger because it was the name of the dog in a story my dad used to tell me…lol. Congrats on your new place and decision to get a doggie!

Reply

I was obsessed with Full House when I was growing up! I hope that Fuller House is good, but I know it won’t compare with the original.
Today’s workout was a strength circuit that I did in my basement…definitely got my heart rate up by doing a bunch of burpees (which I hate!)

Reply

I have two cocker spaniels, Skye Bear (long story) and Madi. Skye came from the shelter and is a total teddy bear. Rescued animals are a huge blessing! Only downside of cocker spaniels is that they have to be groomed, so they get a monthly spa day. Lucky them!

Reply

yeah – SO happy that you and Brooke will be able to get a dog!!! I highly recommend a Shih Tzu – they are little, super cute, and just the best! You can check out my Instagram (las21980 ) if you want to see approximately 1289503737595040 cute pictures of mine to help you make your decision! :-)

My Shih Tzu is named Bosco – after a stuffed animal that my husband had growing up (and still has to this day!). :-)

We have 2 dogs: Oakley & Ally, 3 cats: Rosie, Twix & Curly, 1 snake: Snake-Snake

Congrats on your new place!

Reply

I don’t have time to watch any sort of movies (you know, the entire thing about having 2 kids 2 and under thing). But, I really wish I had it now. I love Full House!! There are so many Netflix only shows I want to watch. Maybe when my kids are in their teens…

Reply

Our Shiba Inu is named Malachi and our cat is named Skosh (move over a Skosh..long e)…

I raised my kids to Full House, does that count?

Reply

Adopt, don’t shop! I have a yellow lab/greyhound pup named Lola. Occasionally I will serenade to her!
Definitely watched Full House as a kid, and Saved by the Bell, and all of TGIF! So many good shows back then!
I cross train in my nike frees! Love all the different colors!
I just did a 3 mile run with Lola today! She has this look of pure joy when I put her on the leash!

Reply

Oh, Ginger is a fabulous name! Hope she’s a runner like my golden retreiver Ben. Also have a lazy cat named Annie – they both represent the best and worst of me.

Did a Body Pump workout today (lots of weights, dead lifts, rowing, etc. concentrating on different parts of the body). It was such a good reminder that
a) I should do more weights.
b) even though I run almost daily, there are other types of exercise that totally humble me.

Reply

My dogs name was Ginger and she was so amazing, I know your future Ginger will be too!

Reply

Oh, and my favorite dog’s name growing up was named Ginger. She was a beautiful German Shorthair

I’m so excited for you two! Dogs are the best. My two spoiled ones are Bailey and Benji. My old dog Kaiser still lives with my parents. Like some of the other comments have mentioned, please look at shelters and rescues! There are so many dogs and puppies that need a home!

Reply

We have a mutt named Buddy. He was full grown when we adopted him, so we didn’t want to change his name.

My only cross training lately has been yoga – so no shoes! :)

I think I’ve probably seen every episode of Full House.

It was a rest day for me today, so I just did yoga.

Reply

I just bought myself a puppy a few weeks ago!! His name is Walter and he’s a mini schnauzer :) :)

LOVE the Nikes. Getting them.

Reply

My doggies are Brady and Keeper. Technically, they live with my parents and I think I’m actually experiencing withdrawals since I haven’t seen them in a month!! So excited for you that you and Brooke are getting a dog!!!!! :) Your Nikes look really comfortable, I’ve never worn Nikes before, but some of their new designs are definitely tempting me.

We have a German Shepard named Ziva- my husband is a huge NCIS fan! Lol

Reply

We have the sweetest Gold Retriever in the world named Hooper and the best, most loving snuggly Jack Russell Terrier named Cosmo- both rescue pups! Check your local rescue groups!!

Life tried to get in the way of my strength training tonight so I squeezed in as many muscle groups as I could while cooking dinner (e.g. Triceps dips from the kitchen chairs, calf raises on my stairs, etc.)- to be so short on time, I covered most of what I would have done in my gym! As for running, just as an easy 4 miler today as I have 8 steady tomorrow followed by 18 with surges on Saturday!

Reply

We have an Alaskan Malamute called Mia. She’s big and goofy but oh boy was she a handful until she was about two. She turns 4 this year and I love her so much. :)

I got a puppy 3 years ago when she was just 6 weeks old. It was the BEST decision I ever made! It changed my life!! Seriously!!

Her name is Sadie. Her middle name is Cupcake. :) She’s sweet, energetic, loving, and a bit spoiled ;)

So excited for you to get a dog. Brooke will remember this dog forever. Ginger is a great name. Ours is Dakota. He’s 55lbs of spoiled fun and the best dog ever. He’s so good with kids, of which I have 4, and he sleeps on the beds with the kiddos. He moves from room to room at night. Yup, spoiled. But sooo loved.

So happy for you guys! Dogs are literally THE BEST! I have a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Yogi.

Brooke is the perfect age for her first dog. I hope you can take her to a rescue shelter to pick one. And may I just say if size is an issue and based on the name ginger a mini dachshund would be perfect ;)

I AM SO EXCITED FOR FULLER HOUSE!!!! (I almost wet my pants when I heard about it!) It is my all time favorite show, John Stamos was my first crush and still is in the top 5 celebrity hotties list for me, I have a Jesse and the Rippers poster, and a Jesse doll (Barbie/ken size). “Forever” (Jesse/Becky’s wedding song sung by John Stamos) was our wedding song………….my husband indulged me that decision!! Oh and the entire series of course, and action figures of the whole cast. What could be better? The fact that it comes to Netflix the day before my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!

Ok, enough about crazy Full House fan girl, I don’t have any pets, but care for 26 penguins with names ranging from Cheddar, Noodle, and Bacon (macaroni penguins, it’s clever) to Nipper, Zeus, Chaos, Merlin, Roxie and Little Debbie (obvious sponsor). Plus mine and my husbands family have wiener dogs named Bow, Hanzel, Fritz (recently passed away, sad) and Greta.

I try out lots of shoes for cross training, not particular about those. I stick to Brooks, Saucony or Mizuno for running though. Today, 3 miles of fast running!

Reply

We have two dogs: Abby and Indy, and one cat: pancake. My kid is just over the moon for the cat! So excited for your new furball!

Reply

I cross-train in Nikes too! I feel the same, they are great for walking around in at work and training on the elliptical or bike, but my feet can’t run in them. Still haven’t decided what running shoe suits me best.

Loved Full House as a kid!

Workout today was a 60 min. run with 10 x 2 min. intervals thrown in there at HMP. Not bad but the snow was miserable for footing! Thanks for your sweet words about my hip too :) Hope your toe settles down soon!

Reply

I have a Yorker named Elizabeth and a chihuahua named Penelope ( she was a rescue and both of us are soooo happy we have each other!!)

I think Gnger short for Gingerbread is a fantastic name!!! I can’t wait to read all about her!!

Reply

I agree, please get a rescue dog. They come in all different breeds/sizes/temperaments! You can’t go wrong. I should have followed my own advice with my Vizsla Hershey. He is from a Breeder, I wouldn’t trade him for the world but after working at a Humane Society for a year I won’t do anything else but rescue any future dogs. I was only 14 when I got Hershey though so I didn’t really know any better :-P.
Anyway, Ginger (Gingerbread) is an awesome name!

Reply

Cat: Katie
Dog: Shelby (lab springer spaniel)

60 min on the arc trainer today. I usually just cross train in my old running shoes.

Reply

Ginger is a perfect name…especially for a Vizsla puppy! I really think you should look into one, they are smallish medium sized dogs, very good with children and INCREDIBLE running partners. I’m sure whatever you decide on though will be so wonderful. <3

My parents have a dog named Ginger…she is a large Rhodesian Ridgeback cross. I have a pointer named Georgie…she was a rescue from Mexico :)

Reply

No pets here yet. We are trying to get a cat though! – Major excitement!
I cross train in a pair of (not so expensive) light weight karimors, and i definitely couldnt run in them. Not enough heel support. Work out is upper body today. After a great 6 mile run last night and an upcoming 10 mile tomorrow i m giving my feet a day off :)

Reply

I have to mini dachshunds named Maggie and Mylie. Love them!

Reply

Very good. I’m also hoping Full House, but also look forward for Prison Break 5.

I have a dog, do Interval Training High Intensity.

We have LOTS of pets (currently 2 dogs, Virgil and Chubbi, two goats, Guiness and Martini, and a pony Ragamuffin). We are definately a pet household. Our cat Kahn (just passsed away as did our other dog Cede (short for Mercedes):)

I always wear Saucony for cross training. Though I desperately want to go to one of those shoe places that measures your stride, placement weight disribution and tells you what shoe fits – I just dont want to pay for it :)

Reply

Pet owners—> What are the names of your pets? we have 2 dogs a beagle mix named Hava and an australian shepherd mix name Tzeitel (anyone see Fiddler on the Roof, hence my dogs names)

What shoes do you cross-train in? i like to cross train in Saucony Hurricane and run in Asics Gel Nimbus

Did you watch Full House growing up? i did watch it !

What was your workout today? went to they gym did some weight training and rowing

Reply

Having dogs is like having another kid. But I love mine to pieces. I hope you opt to get a rescue pup.

Reply

Echo-ing some previous posts (and not to be too preachy) but pleeeeease consider a rescue! I volunteer at a local shelter here in Philly and you’d be amazed how many sweet, super young pups are picked up daily. Even if you’re looking for a puppy or worried about a dog around kids, I promise you can find a rescue that’s perfect for your lifestyle.

As for names, my (awesome rescue) pup is Cooper, aka Cooperman. <3 YAY dogs, best thing in life. So excited for you and Brooke.

Reply

Agree on shelter pups being amazing. The only downside to shelter dogs is that you can’t adopt them all.

Reply

We have a sheppard mix (not really sure what she is, she’s a shelter dog) named Cindy. It’s short for Cinderella because my daughter was an eight year old princess when we got her, but we also call her Cindy Lou Who or Fatty Fat. She’s not fat, but she’s pretty solid and likes to sit on us so yeah.

I cross-train barefoot since I normally lift at home in my living room.

I did grow up watching Full House, and I’ll probably watch Fuller House at least once but only out of curiosity.

My workout today was Ab Ripper X because I haven’t done abs in awhile and I didn’t feel like doing the other strength workout I had planned.

Also, I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and I absolutely love you. I’ve been a runner for years (3 halfs, 4 marathons and a 50k under my belt) and I love reading about running but you have one of the only running blogs I like to read regularly, partially because I love all the tangents you go off on. I’m not sure we could be friends though because Whoppers are my second favorite candy (first is Milk Duds), so I’m not sure what is wrong with you that you don’t like them but we could probably see past that eventually. ;)

We have a husky puppy named Prefontaine :) He is the best running partner!

I’ve been looking for a good pair of cross-training shoes- I’ll have to give those nikes a try!

Please consider a dog from a rescue organization. We have an almost 9 year pointer named Daisy. We are getting a beagle pup next week on Daisy’s birthday. His name will be Blaze. They both are from the South rescued from shelters by volunteers.

So excited that you two are getting a doggie!!! I have two, Gus (my terrier mix) and Coale, my husband’s mini-schnauzer, but he’s mine now!). Ginger is the cutest name, ever! You two will have so much fun! I love Full House, and I’m excited for the new show! When I’ve visited SF, I always look for the Tanners! :D

My son’s name is Max. Our Australian Shepherd is Ruby. They are inseparable.

Did you get it? Think cartoons…. Max and Ruby. Ruby and Max.

You can thank me for putting that tune in your head if Brooke watched as many times as our son :) Ha ha

I have a mystery mutt named Abe. He’s the absolute best! 35 lbs (perfect size–I can still carry him if he won’t chill on our walks). Dogs are the best–though it’ll be harder for you to leave the house once you start seeing those big, sad puppy eyes begging you not to leave haha!!

I have a mini yorkie named Cricket. She weighs a whopping THREE pounds. I just love her and she’s adorable, but… right now I am obsessed with Goldendoodles!! I want one SO BAD!! I have researched them and here are a couple things I love about them: they aren’t slobbery dogs (I love newfies but they slobber way too much for my liking), they don’t shed, they look like teddy bears, they are smart and train easily (unlike yorkies-cute but dumb), they are ‘people’ dogs (very affectionate). My friend has one and it is just an amazing animal. She reminds me of a muppet. My husband says he’ll get me one if I quit talking about moving to Oregon. (I currently live in AZ but lived in Oregon for 6 years and absolutely loved it.)
So pumped about Fuller House.
Congrats on your new place. I HATE moving. When I moved into my current house I made the declaration that the only thing moving out is my dead body… HAHAHA!

I loved Full House growing up. I cross train in Nikes and love them! I have two sweet pups named Callie and Riley. So excited for you that you guys are getting a dog!!!

My first dog (that my mom has now) is Jasper, after Jasper Johns. For my current dog, I had a convo about Mary Magdalene fresh in my mind when I went to get her from the shelter. I said “I’ll get a sign” about what to name her. I looked up and saw a sign for a small town in NM…”Magdalena” it is!

Reply

A big goofy boxer named George and a boxer mix named Lola… we have a thing for people names for animals lol!!

Reply

I have an English Bulldog named Grump. She’s the sweetest, gentlest, kindest dog in the entire world and I’m totally obsessed with her. (Contrary to what the movies tell you, bulldogs don’t drool like crazy but they do snore. Loudly.)

Reply

I have a mini Aussie named Kylie. I love human names for animals! I want a second dog, a golden retriever, and will either name him Rodger or Cheddar. Cheddar isn’t exactly a human name, but it’s pretty cute for a yellow pup!

Reply

My husband and I have a German Shorthaired Pointer name Huckleberry Finn (we call him Finn). He’s 7-months old and literally the best thing to ever happen to us. We have slowly started dragging him along for runs (3 miles at this point), and he loves it. Word is that full-grown GSPs can crank out long runs greater than 15 miles!

I’m not the biggest pet person but somehow we have 3 family dogs. 2 were rescues that are the best dogs. Dexter (already named by the shelter so we kept it) and Eli the Corgi. We adore the Corgi breed have had several and they are full of personality.
My daughter has a Cocker Spaniel puppy she named Gracie. She got a Cocker because she wanted a companion dog that wouldn’t get over 25 lbs. Gracie loves to travel!

Our dogs name is Harvey Dent – yep, the real name of Two Face / the villian from Batman – because he has half a black face / half a white face :)

Ginger is a great name! My grandmother had a pointer (red of course) that was named ginger :-) My dog of almost 10 years that recently passed was Brixton. She was so teeny tiny that I felt like I couldn’t give her TOO cutesy/girly of a name. In my family, we had dogs named Mandy, Satin, Cassie, Three (she had a marking of a “3”), Jersey, and Winnie! I am so excited for you to get a dog (and to read all about it!!) – they are wonderful companions and fulfilling housemates. The love is real!

YAYYY!! So excited you and Brooke are getting a dog!

I have 3 dogs: Maggie Mae (Moo), Blueberry (Boo) and Bugsy (Beans).
I also had one named Honey Bear (she was Bugsy’s mom…lost her last year)

I love food names for dogs! I might name my next one Tamale :)

Rest day today…trying to get over ankle tendonitis :(

I loved Full House so much when I was little that we named our Cocker Spaniel “Michelle” and called her “Shell” for short!

So glad you are able to cross train like a champ! I am not always so good at cross training.

We had a solid tempo run yesterday and are now gearing up for an interesting weekend.

Omg yes!!!! Dog!!! You’ll be so happy. Please adopt and help a sweet little rescue dog!

My puppy’s name is Eve … 15 month German Shepherd/Rott mix. Love of my life :)

Reply

I love the name Ginger – I’m a redhead, so I may be biased. :)

I have a terrier/schnauzer mutt mix pooch whose name is Freddie Mercury!

I cross-train in Nike Free 3.0’s and I love them. Terrible for running, but for anything else, they’re great!

Reply

Gingerbread is such a cute name! We have a cat named Sully, that my then four year old nephew named because he loved Monster’s Inc. I cross train in my running shoes, I might need to look into those Nikes. “Fuller House” gives me hope that one day there will be a “Parenthood-The Story Continues.” Happy Friday!

I knew you were going to get a dog!! How exciting. They are so much work but so worth it.

My husband and I have a Siberian Husky named Sirus. Apparently my husband has had that name picked out since he was little. Fine with me!

LOVE those Nikes! And yay for a dog!!!

Reply

My childhood dog was named Ginger!!

We just got a wheaten terrier, Lexi, for Christmas! Medium sized dog, doesn’t shed and loves to RUN! Warning puppies are more work than babies! Getting up multiple times a night, always needs to be watched and it doesn’t wear diapers..yikes!

Reply

Puppies are more more work than babies! So.much.work. I know ppl won’t like this – but be extra careful if you do a rescue. My husband & I rescued once a 2-yr old beagle and he would have been a terrible, terrible choice if we had kids at the time. But the rescue group never told us of his “quirks”. Once we had our daughter 6 yrs later, we had to re-surrender him to the rescue group. It was incredibly heartbreaking but I absolutely could not have him hurt my baby. Now we have a Spanish Water dog. She’s about 35 lbs and non-shedding. Absolutely completely wonderful with kids or with kids she’s never met. The best.

That is awesome you guys are getting a dog! We have two labs. They are a handful but couldn’t picture my life without them.

Reply

We have a Newfoundland mix named Henna! I named her that because when she was a puppy her black hair had a sheen of golden/brownish red which reminded me of a pot of henna paste : ) Our other two dogs (no longer with us) were named Emzy and Atlas. We very briefly had a beta fish my son named Chili and an even shorter stint with a cat my daughter named Scout (had to give Scout to a friend after only a few days due to my daughter being highly allergic, which we did not realize beforehand). Dogs are the best! It’s so awesome to come home to a wagging tail and sloppy kisses!

Reply

i have a dachshund named ashton and a lab/terrier mutt named archie. they’re both so adorable and loving. i highly recommend adopting a dog from a shelter or a rescue instead of going to a pet store :)

We’ve been wanting a pet for a while…we really want a pig who we already call Kevin. Someday we’ll have a pig. Not someday soon. I use my old running shoes as trainers. I think they still have life in them, just not running life. I’m using a pair of Nike Luna’s to bike (I still have cages) and do circuits. Brooke is so stylish!

Reply

My dog just had puppies and my 5 year old named one Ginger(Bread) too! Funny! We go with holiday themed names in our house. The mommy doggie is named Pumpkin.

Reply

I love that Ginger is short for Gingerbread. I suddenly have a mental image of gingerbread men with the frosting scraped off:-) We have a Boston terrier named Spenser after one of my all time favorite literary characters, a detective from Boston.

I cross train in New Balance. Lately I’ve accidentally lifted in my Chucks a couple times though and really liked it. I know that some serious lifters do that so it’s funny that I did by accident.

Full House was kinda a guilty pleasure since I was a little bit older. But I secretly loved it.

Hi! I have the sweetest dog in the world, her name is Mel and today is actually her birthday. And mine. So it’s a special day here. Hope you have a great move. Ginger is a lucky girl even though she doesn’t know it or you yet.
Are you planning to adopt or shop for a dog?

EEEK! So excited y’all will be getting a dog! (I encourage you to go through a rescue. Even if you’re wanting a specific breed, you can find breed-specific rescues!). My labradoodle’s name is Somnus (Roman god of Sleep. Something he doesn’t do much…) I have a calico cat named Merlot and another cat name The Grey Catsby. Animals bring such love to a house!

Yes I watched Full House! Not sure I’ll be watching Fuller House.

An easy 4 miles today :)

I’m so excited that ya’ll are getting a DOG!!! We got our dog – Scout – when she was 8 weeks old and she is the cutest, most loving, playful dog ever. (We have a lab-retriever mix – approx. 50 lbs.) Getting a dog was the best decision we ever made. She brings so much joy and love into our world. I hope you and Brooke can find your own Scout (aka Gingerbread) b/c they really bring so much joy into people’s lives! I can’t wait to see more information about the new pup! If you want any tips or tricks, we have tons as we raised Scout since she was a puppy!!!

Santa brought us a goldendoodle named Gus. He’s smart, loving, clean, and runs like no other. They come in a few sizes. Highly recommend.

Adopt when you get a dog! I found mine on petfinder.com… his name
is Hunter and he is the love of my life. My boyfriend and I adopted him all the way from Arkansas (we live in MA) and he is a lab/shepherd mix. so many nice dogs are out there without homes, including many puppies, so def take a look at the site. We got him when he was only two months old.

Rescue! They are the most amazing dogs…. It’s like they know what you’ve saved them from. We have three dogs a puggle (pug/beagle mix) named Irie (eye-ree), a Shepard mix rescue mutt named Molli and a boxer/pit mix rescue mutt, so sweet it’s incredible named Luna. They are all huge fans of running, every time I grab my shoes they get so pumped up to go. Happy puppy shopping!

My favorite kind of dog breed is rescued :)
They have rescues for just about every breed and every age dog! I personally couldn’t go to a breeder or pet store knowing I could have saved a dog from being euthenized :(
I have a rescue coonhound who is the BEST running partner. She can go for miles and miles, plus she is great motivation! She probably wouldn’t be a great fit for a place with size restrictions, though!

Reply

We have two pit mix rescue pups! They are a great addition to our family! Please try and choose a rescue pup. So many great dogs that need a second chance and a family to love!

I’m also anxiously awaiting Fuller House!!!! Always watched TGIF growing up!

I just adopted my little fur baby Luna 2 months ago! She’s perfect! Please please please adopt. Your new member of the family will bring you and Brooke so much joy!

We have always named our dogs people names: Fred, Sydney, Jake, Finn, Hank and Vincent!

That way people can’t tell if you are overly talking about a family member or dog :)

I love your blog – check out mine as well, I have lots of tips about dogs and yoga!

OMG you are getting a dog!!! I got my little buddy last year and I can say that he has brought me so much happiness, more than I ever thought possible! I’ve become a totally dog obsessed person and every time I hear about someone getting a dog I sort of live vicariously through them and relive my excitement to when I went to pick up my little furbaby last year. I am SO SO excited for you and cannot wait to hear all about your new puppy!!!

We have the sweetest dog named Maggie. She is a miniature schnauzer. She loves everyone! She is the sweetest tempered dog ever, & they don’t shed. (wink wink) So excited you guys are getting a dog! I think having a pet is a huge positive for kids.

My girlfriend has a cockapoo and it is absolutely the BEST dog, her name is Chilli. (Don’t tell my dog, Daisy, I said that!) But the cockapoo is just the right size, super sweet, soft and cuddly, and LOVES to run. Also, they barely shed. Also, as said 100 times, please adopt.

I’ve got an adopted kitty named Onion! Or well, “Sipuli,” but that’s just the Finnish for onion. She’s furry as hell and completely awesome.

My first half marathon is 11 weeks from today, and can I just say that your blog has been a huge inspiration for me!

1st picture. What a beautiful child! My daughters are now 22 and 24. Have as much fun with her Now as you can! They grow up really fast! Do not own a dog but Kody is my daughters Anatolian Shepard. Dogs are awesome!
