I have 12 pictures/things to share with you about our day yesterday.  PS It was EXTREMELY weird to not have a long run this weekend.  I woke up and we just hung out… no gamin, no route planning, no long run fueling.  It was strange but a good kind of strange because switching things up every now and then is good for us (<——I’m just trying to convince myself that change can be a good thing).

1.  Brooke had her very first gymnastics meet yesterday and it was the best ever 40 minutes of entertainment.

2.  Grandma did her hair in a french braid because she is pretty much the best.

3.  Brooke was most excited about the glitter we put on her face for her big competition.

4.  I don’t think she stopped smiling.

5.  Her bar routine got a perfect 10.

6.  Within minutes of finishing she was out like a lamp… competitions take quite a lot out of us mentally and physically.

7.  We then went to meet up with my sister and her family.

8.  My brother-in-law’s dunk team is pretty darn amazing.

9.  He even brought us a maple bar that was as tall as my nephew.

10.  Dinner was up in Salt Lake City and I had a chicken balsamic panini from Blue Lemon.  Every bite was perfection.

11.  We walked around and saw all of the amazing lights at Temple Square.

12.  And then we finished things up with some shopping.

I hope your Sunday is perfection and you get to do all of the things that you want to today!  Make sure to get in plenty of resting and relaxing too!

I agree no long run feels bizarre after a long marathon training cycle, but I also agree change can be a very good thing!

The lights at Temple Square look amazing! I enjoy the change of pace in not having to get in a long run on the weekends when I’m taking a break, at least for awhile!

It’s my birthday and we are having stormy weather so we are just hanging out with the family and watching movies all day! Pretty much the perfect day!

Anytime I don’t workout I feel really strange. It’s funny how when something becomes so routine in your life you can’t imagine a day without it.

Aw, I love that she had a gymnastics meet and got to wear makeup. I always loved a French braid in my hair but could never do a French braid myself or to anyone else! Regular braids yes, the more challenging French braid no.

Sounds like a great day! Brooke looks so happy. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Wow I can’t believe Brooke had a competition do you have video?

When I was little I really wanted to be a gymnast. I got to take a couple tumbling classes and one gymnastics class and then my mom pulled me out because my sister got hurt. I was pretty upset, then I found running and I was ok again.

Brooke is so adorable doing her gymnastics! I loved gymnastics when I was her age. Weekends without long runs do feel so weird at first, but now that I’m used to them I’m planning on doing my long runs on Fridays.

Your weekend sounds a bit like mine. I didn’t race for the first time in forever and I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself! It was definitely weird LOL.

Brooke looks cute as always!

What sweet pictures of Brooke at her first gymnastics meet! It is weird to not have long runs on the weekend. I enjoyed sleeping in today and it was amazing. Happy Sunday!

I remember when french braids were everything! I taught myself when I was little and still do a little one on the side to keep my hair from coming down on my runs! Have a great Sunday!

Looks like a lovely Saturday!

My weekend has been filled with baking and holiday parties and it’s been such a blast. Today … I have to battle the crowds at IKEA … Not looking forward to the trip but hopefully I snag some good finds!

Brooke looked like she had a blast. By the way, she has long graceful looking fingers. Maybe guitar or piano in her future? ( I am married to a music teacher, I notice these things).

I missed my long runs in the beginning but I am enjoying 8 hours of sleep now! And am doing other cardio that I love. Weird how it can feel hard, even with all the running conditioning!

Yay Brooke on your first gymnastics meet!

The lights at Temple Square look amazing and I am just melting at the sight of your thumb-sucking nephew clutching his blanket…so adorable.

Do you think Brooke will continue on as a gymnast? If so, I have a bunch of old leotard from when I was a few years older than her if she’d like to have them! I even have some for her teenager years if she chooses to continue. :)

Just ran a 15k with my sister and friends in the drizzle! I’m really really looking forward to my rest week this week!

Looks like a great weekend so far! The holiday lights in SLC are gorgeous! Wish I saw that area when I was in town a couple of months ago! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! So nice to change it up and not have a long run sometimes!

Today was definitely a rest day/Christmas cookies baking day for me! Yesterday, I ran but also got to volunteer for the 1st time at a race…the organization I volunteered at was Girls on the run!! I got to be part of cheering on girls from the ages of 7-15 and I got to pass out the medals at the finish line! What an amazing experience to be part of! Just thought I would share that!! Sometimes you have to be on the other side, instead of running you volunteer!! Can’t wait to do it again!! Brookers has the best teacher in her life…you are an amazing mom and role model:-)
