I made it through humpday. Two more days of work before I can collapse. Oh wait. A two hour dentist appointment awaits me on Saturday. Lol.

The first snow of the year here is falling right now along with crazy wind. I’m not too excited about it, I’m still in denial that it’s November. Treadmill time for me later.

Reply

My husband showed me that video last night! So, so cool!

I would take snow here over what we’ve got. Currently it is 41 degrees with 40 mph winds. Gusts up to 55 mph. Not. Fun. Looks like I’ll be running on the treadmill today!

Oh my goodness–I can’t believe it’s already snowing! I’m hoping Dallas will not see any of that anytime soon (or at all…)!!

My sentence: I have a long tempo in the morning, and I WILL IGNORE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS and hit my splits!!

Reply

Love the photo pf you running in St. George. Crazy how the weather can change so quickly. Today I am grateful for my physical therapist, who has been helping me get back to running after having a baby in September. All women should go to PT for postpartum recovery – it works wonders.

Reply

Man, that video made me tear up! So awesome.

I’m a little jealous of your cooler weather, but I’m so not ready for snow yet. After Thanksgiving, bring it on!

Can it be a run-on sentence like yours?

Why were the kids at school so wild today I need a hug and a cocktail and is it a full moon?

Reply

Jess, you are not alone! The children here in Illinois are just as crazy the past few days. My mother is a early childhood teacher and we were talking about a full moon possibility yesterday as well!

The weather change was crazy– I noticed the same thing in some of my pictures from the week. On Saturday, I posted a photo to Instagram from my run of a beautifully colored tree losing its leaves on a sunny, warm fall day. And on Tuesday, I posted a photo of my footprints in the snow at the track.

I’m super glad it’s back to sunny fall weather again. I like change okay, but not when it involves snow.

Reply

Your friend is quite the inspiration! I am still trying to break 4.5 miles.

That is a huge pack of gu! And that was a very inspiring story about the Sergeant. My sentence for the day: Stressful day at work but a thoroughly productive one!

Reply

I don’t usually comment (I read almost every day), but I wanted to say that I just had a revelation by reading this post.

“I love change.”

I seriously believe that this is something I should embrace the snot out of. I usually dislike change, to the point where it can emotionally mess with me. Thank you for this one simple phrase.

I LOVE that video! It’s the embodiment of a hero and why I love this crazy sport! People are just amazing.

1 sentence: I ran with my best friend today, played with my little people, and tackled my fear of heights: it’s been a good day.

My one sentence: Im going to Disneyland tomorrow!!!
in other news…you are so right Brooke is one lucky girl to be surrounded by awesome women, what great role models for her! lucky duck gets to do gymnastics too! seriously lucky girl :)

Reply

Can’t believe you are already getting snow! It has just now started to turn cold here in NC, and I’m using the term ‘cold’ very loosely. I am just wearing a light jacket right now. Glad Brooke can help you out with your blog photos :)

Reply

Wow, Utah is so beautiful! that huge box of Gu — want to send a few across the pond ;)? I haven’t been able to find salted caramel anywhere!

Sentence for today (because school is really stressing me out): It’s a privilege to be able to leave a corporate job to go back to grad school full time, so it’s time to work like you’ve never worked before because you may never get the chance again.

Reply

Sentence for the day:

There’s always good days, and there’s always wine for the other days.

Crazy that y’all have snow! We’ll keep wishing here in NC. I’m ready to run in my winter stuff. Winter running is my favorite, and we’ve scarcely even had fall running weather yet!

Reply

Ok, not a sentence, but wondering if Gu can’t be contributing to some of the stomach issues you were having? I totally stopped using it and started using Huma. Big change!

Reply

That video is awesome, thanks for sharing. I cry at everything and needed a feel-good cry today for sure :)

Reply

Sentence for the day: I’m happy to have had the day off of work (I work at a school) for Veteran’s Day and I’m so thankful to the wonderful men and women who have served our country.

Reply

I was in Savannah for the RnR half. I’ve seen Robert McCoy (the runner) at several events in SE GA. He’s incredibly fast & accomplished & I’m not at all surprised that he was so determined to finish his race in honor of his father. On Monday he went back to Savannah and presented his medal to the police officer. I love that people have embraced this story.

Reply

That story made me cry .. it does my heart good to see that people like that exist in the world :) Thanks for sharing!

We are so lucky not to have snow on the ground in WI yet, but I have a feeling that will change very soon. : )

Awesome video!!

My sentence for today – “Say your affirmations!” My current favorite is: Do what’s right, not what’s easy.

Reply

I saw that story too! Love love love it!

I’m kind of jealous of your snow day! I’m just praying for temps in the low 80s here. ;)

And, a 48 pack of GU?! You got a good friend there!

Reply

Brooke has the cutest, most perfect teeth! she must just melt your heart.

I ran that race (Savannah Rock and Roll) and saw that guy after – he was right by us at the park before the Rascal Flatts concert – he was laying down on a blanket and when I saw him get up I couldn’t believe how beat up he looked! I had no idea what had happened until these pics / videos came out. It was a tough day to race – hot and humid – not what I was expecting for November (even though I live in Atlanta) – two runners actually died. One collapsed at the race (my husband saw him while running) and another collapsed at home afterwards. Extremely sad.

Makes me think my sentence for the day is “I’m thankful to be healthy”!

Reply

I’m off work tomorrow, so Thursday really is the new Friday. Looking forward to celebrating tonight with mulled wine and fondue (oh, and husband/friends) in a trendy “Alpine” themed pop-up restaurant (I know – I am painfully cool) tonight. Hurry up home time!!

Reply

hey girl have you been watching the new season of the mindy project? gotta say it’s not the same since it switched over to hulu…

Reply

It was a stressful day and I needed to run it off – knee hurt but I finished anyway.

Snow?! I saw reports on the news. It’s been unusually warm here, it doesn’t feel like the holidays.

Reply

I’ve been having calf problems too! How annoying! Although mine pretty much hurts 24/7 and I’m limping. :( Good job on getting preventative care to nip an injury in the bud!

Reply

I saw that video about the cop in the race and it made me happy. It’s nice to see officers in the spotlight for something good in the midst of all the negativity surrounding those who wear the uniform (and some that choose to use the power in a bad way)

Reply

We ran in that race and my husband saw that guy go down! He was telling me about it afterwards. I love the positive light my hometown police officer is getting for this!!

Reply

When your alarm goes off at 3:50am for a run before work, you fall back to sleep your toddler wakes you up at 5:10am because she has peed the bed again…then you literally beg her to lay back down with you after you give her a bath because for some reason running in the 50mph winds sounds kind of sketchy…then you oversleep waking up at 8am with 15minutes to get ready and out the door….yea I am loving this strong black coffee today.

Reply

Wow, the weather has changed so quickly for you.. We have snow coming to Ireland next week I think, but it’ll probably just be freezing, slushy rain.

Pretty cool video, and by the looks of it, the cop could do with a bit more running lol

Reply

I’m so not ready for the snow!!

Reply

Someone posted on FB about that cop who helped the runner finish the marathon. So cool!

Reply

Reply

I think I’d be too frightened of slipping in the snow to properly run. But I have to say, I wish we got some snow here in San Diego. Wouldn’t that be a Christmas miracle?

Reply

I love this video you posted. This hits me right in the feels!

Reply

I love that video! There is so much good in the world!
