Tuesday Tangents and marathon training week #4231!!!

I read every. single. comment. yesterday (and so did my mom:).  I cannot thank you enough.  I think we need to rent out a cruise ship and go on a big running/eating/hanging out trip together.  RSVP to the cruise trip idea as soon as possible.

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means.. tangents:

-Back to the usual with the Brookers.  Sunday night when she got home we just caught up while snuggling on the ground in her room.  It was great.

IMG 0787

-Nothing like walking outside in the morning and having cows stare at you.

IMG 0770

-I came across the first spin bike ever created.  If I would have brought my spin shoes I would have done a workout on it;)  The saddles back then seem a lot more comfortable than the ones now.

IMG 0767

-So now not only do I want a dog, I want a horse too.  This last weekend that I spent in the mountains felt like a total escape… nature gets me every time.

IMG 0766

-Completely random actions.  Just like her mama.

IMG 0685

-My cousin got his Eagle Scout (woot-woot) and so we acted like Eagles with him at his court of honor.

-All of my favorite running tanks and shorts freshly washed and ready to be worn for the next week of runs are one of my favorite things.  It is probably one of my favorite things because now I know I don’t have to do laundry for awhile.

IMG 0774

-I don’t remember where I saw this (40% of my photo album on my phone= screenshots of things I see on the internet) but it made me happy.  Speaking of Netflix, I need a new show to be addicted to.  Any guidance would help.

IMG 0765

-60 hide-and-seek games a day keeps the doctor away.

IMG 0123

-Because when three adults go out to dinner without kids we end up taking over the crayons and doodling until our food gets there.  My sister likes to remind me that my handwriting hasn’t changed one bit over the last 25 years.

IMG 0702

-I just noticed that Snickers is doing the Coke thing and naming their candy bars… I’ll take the drama mama one please.

IMG 0707

-Yes, yes it is.

IMG 0684

Here is how last week’s training looked!  Building back up and extending training for a marathon that goes down soonish (hopefully:)

Monday:  6.2 miles @ 7:07 average pace (middle 4 at 6:52 pace).

Tuesday:  8 miles @ 7:39 average pace.

Wednesday:  6 miles @ 7:58 average pace.

Thursday: 8.59 miles.  1 hour fast finish run—>  first 30 minutes @ 7:28ish and second 30 minutes @ 6:35 pace.  6:58 average.

Friday:  4 miles @ 8:00 pace on the treadmill

Saturday:  14 miles at a 7:45 pace.

Sunday:  Off!!!

46.79 miles:)

And as far as this week goes for training—>  5 treadmill miles (8:34 pace) on Monday morning and YASSOS today.  I sure haven’t missed yassos (.5 mile repeats done at a hard pace) the last few weeks but they sure make you faster.

IMG 0807

-Brooke and I had a date to Jason’s Deli yesterday and I got one of their 2 lb baked potatoes with chicken (amazing).  It hit the spot and I felt great afterwards (the tomatoes were taken off because they seem to kill me a little).

IMG 0808

-Had a little chat with Brooks and their ambassadors yesterday too and we talked socks.  They now have running socks for each holiday and I can’t think of better things to wear for our holiday themed races.  They aren’t online quite yet but you can find them in some running stores!

————————————————————————————-

What has been your best run lately?  What made it a great one?

-Last Thursday’s fast finish run was a great one because it helped me to gain some running confidence back.

Anyone have horses now or when they were growing up?  Any horse lovers reading?

All-time favorite candy bar?  Any Snickers fans?

-Milky Ways will always win in my heart and Carmellos come in a close second.

Please share some of your Tuesday Tangents with us:)

And I’ll take a Drama Mama Snickers too, thanks ;).

Cruise Ship RSVP, RSVP, RSVP, RSVP That means I’m serious :)

Reply

Snickers 4 life :) Also that potato has my name on it!

Reply

I used to have a horse I rode all the time when I was younger. Her name was Patsy and she was the sweetest thing!

I love Snickers and I have been on a Butterfinger kick lately (even though they get stuck in my teeth). Reese’s too. Really, as long as there are no nuts (peanuts are ok), then I will probably eat it.

Reply

I went to equestrian camp when I was a kit and LOVED it so much! We got to ride every single day and were even assigned our own horses that we had to take care of. I loved grooming my horse and feeding him. I didn’t love cleaning out his stall though…. gross! haha

I haven’t had a best run in a little while thanks to an angry piriformis and hip, but I hope to have one this evening!!!!

Reply

My best run was my 20 miler last weekend bc the weather was perfect! I’m more of a Twizzlers girl. That counts as a candy bar, right? :) Hopefully I can find those socks in store. Cute!

Reply

I had a horse when I was a teenager. I loved riding- we had a great park right across the street with tons of beautiful trails, so it was perfect :) a great escape for sure!

My best run was the Runners world 5k….my first postpartum race! It was so great to be out running again and it’s one of the best race weekends around!

Reply

I would probably go with Twix as my favorite! I had a lot of fun social runs this weekend so they were all the best I’ve had in a while. And the weather is perfect for running right now in Tennessee so I’m loving every minute! I grew up going to summer camp and loved riding the horses. I think Brooke needs one!

Reply

My best run was 12 on Saturday with a few tempo miles in there. I hadn’t run 12 miles in more than a year and a half, so it sure felt good. :)

Have you watched Parenthood? It’s a great Netflix choice.

Oh, and absolutely count me in for that cruise :)

Reply

Please consider this my RSVP to that cruise. I would 100000% go on it.

Netflix recos, like Natalie mentioned above, Parenthood is amazing and pretty much every episode will make you cry (in a good way most of the time!).

Friday Night Lights is also a wonderfully addicting show.
Lost is a good one that will suck you in, for better or for worse.
Parks and Recreation is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Plus, I also saw Gilmore Girls is coming back on Netflix so I’m already planning that binge :)

Huge horse lover. I took riding lessons growing up and my family even went to a dude ranch for vacation one year in Wyoming. I absolutely LOVE horses.

P.S. I’M BACK TO RUNNING!!! After 12 weeks off, 2.5 miles feels like the best struggle ever. :) :) :)

Reply

We took our kids to a dude ranch in Colorado for vacation…one of our best vacations ever!

I’m also just starting back running (injured in mid July) and my ‘long’ run this will be 2.5 miles! Feels awesome to be running again!

Reply

I’ve been binge watching The Flash this week and I’m totally loving it!

My best run post baby was probably yesterday — a mildly pathetic 3.3 miles in an hour, but that’ll get better.

I’ve never really ridden a horse but I’ve always wanted to. My hubby got to ride horses as a kid and I’m hoping he’ll teach me someday!

Reply

I just had my first run since my half marathon yesterday, and it was amazing! It was about a minute/mile faster than I usually run and I just felt great the entire time. I’m not a huge candy bar person but I will take any gummy candy out there!

Reply

I’m so glad you are feeling better. I can’t wait to see what race you choose Janae. I think you were smart taking some time away to build back. You are going to have a string marathon when you choose.

My best run was probably my 5k last weekend.

Reply

Have you watched Revenge? The show isn’t on anymore but it’s horribly addictive!

Best run – Saturday’s 14 miler. I’ve been fighting a mild case of PF and with my marathon 4 weeks away, I needed it to go well, and it did! Bonus: amazing weather!

So glad you’re feeling better, and I’m excited to hear about what race you have in store!

Reply

I ran in 10K over the weekend and got a PR of 47:46 so I’m still living off that running high!
The best candy bar is Twix with peanut butter spread on top…so amazing, it makes me happy!
Friday Night Lights is the best show EVER!!! (I think I might have to watch it again)

Reply

I am so on board for the cruise trip idea (no pun intended ha ha) Sorry bad joke heh heh

Last best run was probably on Sunday. It started a little rough but by the end I was feeling mentality and physically powerful.

Reply

I usually like the fruity/gummy/sour candy over chocolate bars but if I had to pick my favorite bar, it’d have to be the Baby Ruth! Chocolatey, chewy, salty, peanutty, caramelly … All good things!

Tuesday tangent – How is it only Tuesday?!? Ready for the weekend already :)

Reply

horses make me extremely nervous and my knees always hurt a little after. but I like watching them run…. from a distance :)

actually just ate a snickers bar yesterday, first time in a longtime, and it said Princess on it. since it came from my husband, I wasn’t sure what to think… haha

gimme dem socks.

Reply

Milky Ways for the win but Cookies n Cream for a close second! We just started watching The Blacklist. I’m hooked! Community is a good one, but I lost interest after the 4th season.

Reply

My best run was my 1 mile yesterday. I developed tendinitis after the St. George marathon (PR by 9 min and BQ with a 3:23…all while producing milk as I got home and immediately nursed my baby…so I think that takes off 2-3 min off my time ?). Anyway so yesterday was my first run and wasn’t fully pain free but not where it had been so I’ll just be happy that it’s improving and let it continue to rest. Anyway because of the injury I’ve beenNetflix binging on Jane the Virgen. Please watch it. It’s amazingly cute and fun and hilarious. Especially since I’ve lived in South Anerica for 5 years so the telenovela undertones are even funnier to me. Go. Watch it now!

Reply

PS I missed you at St. George. My husband ran a 2:59 and while I was stoked for him I was bummed you weren’t right next to him! Can’t wait to hear what marathon you decide on and watch you reach your goals!

Reply

Lost my runner girl car magnet again!!!! I’m going to have to order half a dozen to keep for backup. I hate driving around without it. Lol.
Snickers is good! Reese’s cups are better.

Reply

My best run last week was an easy run—just getting back into running after marathon recovery and it felt so good! How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, and Parks and Rec are my favorite Netflix shows.

Reply

I’m so in on that cruise! Better yet…lets make it a Disney Cruise and let’s go tomorrow! I actually use to take riding lessons when I was young and was obsessed with horses for years and years. Someday I want a million of them! Tuesday Tangent: it is crazy hair day at Summer’s school and I feel like mom of the year because I actually remembered and am prepared! Usually I would say I need the “Loopy” Snickers, but not today!! Hahaha! Miss you girl! When are we gonna play?!?!

Reply

A cruise? Any time! Most relaxing vacation I’ve ever been on.

Favorite candy bar has changed a lot over the years. For the last several years I’ve loved milky ways the best. Snickers is a close competitor, and no one wants an almond joy or 3 musketeers. Or at least not in this house.

I don’t have a horse because I’m crazy allergic to them. It’s a sad thing.

Reply

Snickers are good, Snickers Ice Cream bars are great.

As to Netflix- somehow I missed Chuck when it was on. Find it and enjoy.

Best run- this morning. My best running bud was proposed to at the end of her marathon on Sunday I I got to hear all about it. Her genius fiancé took pictures with the ring every time he saw a photographer on the course. Brilliant!

Reply

JANAE. I think it is imperative that you know that when I was at the grocery store last night I saw………CANDY CORN FLAVORED BOOM CHICKA POP.

You may now go about your day.

Reply

Watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it is pure fun :-). Loved yesterday’s post and all your posts! Have a wonderful day!

Reply

JANAE start watching How to Get Away with Murder- it’s so addicting! Also- I’m totally into a cruise :) <3

Reply

Best run: last Saturday’s long run. The last 5 mikes were faster than GMP and I felt strong!
Candy bar: 3 Musketeers
Tuesday tangent: just finished track with my friends and I’m trying cryo therapy today!

Reply

Netflix: Jane the Virgin. it’s soooo good! 100% on Rotten Tomatoes! I converted 3 people this last weekend.

As for candy, I agree: Milky ways are where it’s at. Or Twix. mmmm I rarely eat candy anymore (don’t worry I still have lunch dessert and regular dessert daily), but with Halloween around the corner I am sure I’ll get some.

Reply

I cannot believe I have not yet had a single piece of candy corn yet this season. They are so good. My best run lately was 6 miles yesterday because I woke up this morning and nothing hurt (out of the ordinary!) so I’m taking that as a good sign. Happy to see your mileage is back up so quickly!

Reply

I did a five mile run with my students yesterday, which was pretty fun. It was the longest run we’ve done so far this fall and I love seeing them reach new goals!

Twix and Milky Ways always get me!

Tuesday Tangent: Need to do some strength training today!

Reply

I know this was already mentioned by my Tuesday Tangent is GILMORE GIRLS IS COMING BACK!!! BEST DAY EVER!

Reply

A HRG cruise? Brilliant!
My aunts have horses and I love them! Riding is so amazing
Bloodline is a great Netflix original series!
Best run was my 5 mile race. I felt strong and surprised myself!
Best candy bar- Twix
And I need that candy corn sign.
So glad you’re getting back into your running and doing better!

Reply

Best run lately was pacing The Athletarian for her marathon on Sunday!

Reply

I just started Jane the Virgin on Netflix and it’s so funny. I love the lead actress.

Reply

My most recent best run was probably last Thursday. It was an 8 miler that ended at Chipotle and it poured rain, which made us all run faster!

Today is my first run since Nike this weekend. I’m hoping it’ll loosen up my calves!

Reply

You need to watch Gilmore Girls or Friday Night Lights. Two of the best shows ever made! I think you’d love GG because its about a mother & daughter and it’s just amazing to watch their bond. And rumors are circulating of a comeback on Netflix, so now is a GREAT time to start season 1. Friday Night Lights is also pretty amazing. You should probably just watch both :)

Reply

Live for Butterfingers. They’re the absolute best!

Reply

Skors bar was always my favorite. It’s kind of like a Heath but slightly different. I would eat the thin chocolate layer around the hard interior, trying not to break the hardened sugar. Quite the challenge and very fun :)

Reply

I’m in for the cruise! :)
Those tweets about being single killed me! Bahahahaha!
Reeses is the best candy.
If.you haven’t seen all the Parks and Rec, that’s a must

Reply

YES PLEASE on the cruise, what FUN that would be!! Also, I would concur that Parenthood and Gilmore Girls are a MUST for new shows. I would like to also add Scandal. I am ob-sessed!

Reply

I just realized that I’m not as big into candy bars as I used to be! That’s kind of sad but I guess it’s good for me. I really like the texture and taste of 100 grand. Nothing compares to my Aussie chocolate though… Hershey’s tastes like dirt in comparison lol.

Reply

I am a sucker for Oreos and Reeses. I mean come on. I would eat them forever if I could. I also love York Peppermint Patties…. This is hard to pick only one. ;)

Reply

I took a birthday trail run yesterday and it was perfect. Cool but not too cold, beautiful scenery (fall leaves by the river) and I felt strong on the hills and twists. Aahhh.

Tuesday tangent: I am sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear about a possible big opportunity. Good thoughts and prayers would be wonderful!

I love candy too much to have a favorite. Maybe dark chocolate peanut butter cups? Or the dark chocolate sea salt caramel bars from… lindt maybe?

I agree with everyone who says Friday Night Lights or Gilmore Girls. If you’ve already watched those Sherlock is amazing. Or jump down the geek rabbit hole with me and start Doctor Who.

Reply

Good luck! Hope you get great news soon!

Best run lately– a nine miler with my dad.

I didn’t really get back into running after high school/college until I got into triathlons. And the first time I ran with my dad in a long time was after I moved away to Utah. Now, I run with him most times I visit. I’m kind of bummed I didn’t start until I moved away. We have a ton of fun when we run together, and it’s a great bonding activity!

Reply

Ok, so I waited to post this one. And how appropriate since you asked about our best run lately.

Sunday I ran my first (and only?) full marathon. 4:20:11. Now that’s not sub 3 or even sub 4 but i beat every goal I had (take that Oprah) by a wide margin. A) 4:25:30 finish, 10 min avg pace…Check. B) 4:40 finish with negative split…Check C) Just plain finish, no matter the time…Check. I had some friends join me at mile 21 that made all the difference when I was getting down.

I never bonked but my IT band was telling me to be done already. Finished strong. My pace was darn near a metronome throughout. Best mile 9:27 worst 10:10. Conditions were cold at the start, but beautiful throughout on a flat course. It was one of the dumbest, most painfully stupid things I’ve ever done but it was still somehow fun…and surprisingly emotional and powerful.

Now mind you, for perspective, I’m a 45 year old guy who started this distance kick about 7 months ago. I’ve run shorter distances (mostly 2-5 miles at a time in the Army) all my adult life. But the last ten years have been increasingly and dangerously sedentary.

My Dad had a heart attack when he was 43 – he lived another 30 plus years but that was a clear warning to me. Last year i weighed in at 214, the highest I’ve ever been. I have 3 kids…9 years, 20 months and the youngest is 4 months old. So it dawned on me that I needed to change my act if I wanted to be around long enough for them to grow up. So that’s what I did.

I’ve logged over 475 miles in the last 6-7 months. As runners go that’s not crazy high but coming off the almost couch, its a big deal. I left the hospital in the mornings after my son was born, to run 5 miles when I probably hadn’t run 5 miles in over a decade. I now weigh 190 and I’ve seen 180 something on the scales, something that hasn’t happened in 20+ years.

And through it all I drew inspiration, news, and tips from Ms. Janae. I dove in and studied running like I would study anything (furiously and thoroughly – if you could see the Excel file I have) but no source was more informative or entertaining than HRG.

So Sunday morning, sitting in the parking lot, I checked off my Brooks checklist that you published a few weeks ago one last time and I reread the list of things to do on race week, that you wrote. I did my relax and I readied my playlist…got out and ran for my wife, my kids, my life…and in thanks to you.

I may not ever run that distance again, I owe it to my family to not train that hard again. But more 10k, 10m, and half’s are definitely in my future. And I’ll keep coming back here, because its fun, real, and I like people who are passionate. Oh yeah, because it’s about running too.

P.s. I would love a cruise with an onboard race, if only to see the swirly GPS trace as we carve through the ocean.

Reply

Sorry I wrote a book, lol.

Reply

So, I never comment but I really enjoyed reading your “book.” Good for you!!

Reply

Two thumbs up to you! Fantastic achievement on your lifestyle change. Keep it up.

Reply

WOW. Clark. Your story is incredible. Beyond incredible. You hit all of your goals, you have come SOOOO far in the last 6-7 months and look at the incredible example you are setting for your kiddos. I am so glad that some of my tips were able to help and thank YOU for doing a bit of the race for me too:) Please keep me updated with how you are doing and your sweet words mean the world to me. Thank you Clark. You are doing an amazing job. HAHAH about the race… you know that would happen!

Reply

I will definitely cruise with you! I saw Brooks had Oktoberfest socks that looked like fun! I wonder if the seeds and acid in the tomatoes cause irritation. Have a good day!

Reply

Milky Way makes a Simply Carmel candy in bite size at Halloween. You simply must find it!! Frozen bite size snickers are also the best (I steal them from the kids stash) – this one works best with the little bitty bite sized.

Horses are beautiful but I never wanted to own one. :)

Best run – a recent PR 2 weeks ago in the half marathon. 1:59:17. Training now for Houston in January.

Reply

JENNIFER—>Huge congrats on your new shiny PR!!! Way to go and excited for you to run Houston. I like your candy choices a lot!

Reply

Your post yesterday was awesome ☺️ You certainly created a welcoming and fun running community through your blog. You are a huge inspiration to me as a mom and runner! I hope you keep blogging for a long time because I look forward to reading your blog each and every day! Best run lately was my half marathon I ran on Sunday, it wasn’t my best time but it was the first race I ran with my husband and it was just a lot of fun!

Reply

Thank you so so much Sarah!! That means a lot to me. Congrats on your half marathon with your husband on Sunday! SO MUCH FUN!!!

Tie for favorite candy “bar”- Reese’s cups and Cadbury Creme Egg.

I started watching “Frankie and Grace” on Netflix and really like it! Check it out if you haven’t already. I also started Narcos, which is good but a little bloody for me.

Reply

I used to LOVE Carmellos when I was a kid. And now that it’s in my head, I’d like one now :) My usual favorite though is Reese’s.

Reply

3 musketeers FTW.

Reply

RSVP yes def having running group pals that would want in too! Netflix- “Orange is the New Black”. “Scandal” is really good too.

Reply

Horse lover right here! I’ve ridden since I was little, and now that I am in college, escaping to the barn for a ride is even better. It is such a great way to de-stress.

Reply

I’d go on a cruise ship adventure! Sounds like fun ;-)

I love Twix bars. I have one in my desk for later!

Isn’t having a full stack of clean running clothes the best???

Reply

1. Breaking Bad
2. Friday Night Lights
3. Felicity
4. Parenthood
5. Revenge
6. Gossip Girl

Fave candy bar- Kit Kats & Reese’s Cups

Consider this my RSVP YES for the running cruise!

Reply

I just did my first double digit run this morning. :D 10.45 miles @ 7:30 minute pace. I totally took your arm pumping advice when my legs got tired. Thnaks for being an inspiration. <3

Reply

AHHHHH HUGE CONGRATULATIONS JESSICA on your first double digit run today! That is a killer pace too and I’m so glad the arm pumping trick helped!

Reply

Aw, thanks :D:D:D:D

Reply

Have you seen iZombie? It’s a lot like Veronica Mars (same creator) and nothing like any zombie movie. It’s funny and sweet and has an awesome heroine.

My favorite candy bar is probably Reese’s. I still miss Mars Bars though. They were replaced by Snickers with almonds, but those just aren’t the same.

Reply

The cruise sounds great! How about January when it’s -20 in South Dakota!

My whole family rodeos so we have lots of horses. We live on a ranch too so we ride almost daily.

Reply

-20… I CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE!!! Yep, we will do it in January then:)

Reply

1) Yes, yes, yes to a HRG cruise.
2) Best run was this am. Why? It was the last one I did. Each run teaches me something. I’m a warm weather girl through and through. Today’s run took place in 36* degrees and it was glorious. Last year I would’ve never said that. Amazing how we change/grow with time.
3) 100 Grand candy bars are sent straight from the throne of God.

Reply

Midnight Milky Way (dark chocolate). My run yesterday was awful! But I’ve got to remember to keep sticking with it!

Reply

I took the week following my half-marathon off to cross-train so no runs since last Sunday. I think I may go out later for a easy fun run.

I used to like Snickers, now I love the Endangered Species dark chocolate with cacao nibs or espresso beans.

Gilmore Girls is supposed to come out with 4 new 90 minute episodes, not sure exactly when.

The dog decided she wanted a Munchkin this morning so we hit Dunkin Donuts. I got coffee, she had a glazed munchkin. (yes she’s spoiled but it only happens every few months. And she smiles her doggy smile, I can’t resist).

My neighbors had a pony, his name was Jingles.

Reply

Nothing tops Reeses for my favorite candy but I usually won’t turn down any chocolate.

Netflix shows….. even thought it’s an older one I would recommend West Wing to ANYONE! It’s an awesome show!

Reply

My 5 miler this weekend was wonderful because it was only 62 degrees outside! In Tampa, 62 degrees is a rare and wonderful thing! Happy fall y’all!

I didn’t have a horse, but wanted a horse when I was growing up…so my parents had me take an adult-ed course when I was in 7th grade on caring for horses and that cured my desire to own my own horse. So much work!

All time favorite is also the Milky Way – it never disappoints!

Love the tweets about being single – very funny!

Reply

I LOVE the Brooks socks!!!! So cute!!!!
Twix for the win but, I do love a snickers every now and then. I can’t remember the last time I even ate a regular sized candy bar? I stick to the fun sized. Makes me feel better about myself. :)
Every run I’m having lately is the best run. As long as I’m not injured, I’m happy! Planters faciiatis and tendonitis are trying to join the party. JERKS!
I’m not a horse person but, I do appreciate their beauty. I adore dogs though. Most of the time, I like them more than people. HAHA!
Put me down for the cruise!

Reply

I love the fun words on the Snickers Bars! I’ll take feisty please. ☺ My best run in months was yesterday – just 3 miles but only the second time I have run since having a baby. My muscle memory is starting to make an appearance, which is really exciting.

Favorite candy bar → a tie between 3Musketeers and Snickers.

If you could go on a cruise with all of us, where would you want to go?

Reply

You said that you needed a new show…. Mr. Robot!!!! I am not sure if it is even on Netflix, but I watched it on Amazon.

I am not a big Snickers fan, but I did buy Justin’s peanut butter cups at WHF, and I really, really loved the white chocolate one! Try it

Reply

I have never been on a horse in my life. I’m scared of most animals so that’s probably a good thing.

Reply

RSVP to the cruise idea! (Of course I’m 6 months pregnant so you will all have to work around that with me (; ). I love horses and can’t wait to have one someday! A few shows I have enjoyed (kind of teen-ish) Pretty Little Liars, Arrow, the Flash and….. Hmmm. I can’t think of any more (; I haven’t run recently because of being pregnant. I went on a 2 mile walk yesterday and started having contractions (no Bueno ). Favorite candy car of all time: Butterfingers!! ?

Reply

We will totally work around your pregnancy (PS CONGRATS!!!). Thanks for the show recommendations… I love the teen ones too! Go get some Butterfingers, the baby wants some:)

Reply

Bahaha I love cows! I’ve randomly been to a ridiculous number of farms these past few months!

Reply

Ohh I had horses! And have. well, sort of. My horse and my mom’s horses are at the ranch with my parents in wyoming. BUT when I have some land and extra income (hahahahahahahaha) im going to bring my horse home! And also get another horse. I miss having them in my life!

Reply

Ran 3 miles this morning with Cocoa. The weather was perfect. About 50 degrees. My favorite candy bar?? Probably Snickers but I love Peanut M&M’s best of all!!

Reply

Once Upon a Time and Agents of SHIELD. It’s what I watch with my daughter (teenager… I don’t recommend either for little kiddos). Then there is always Studio C on the BYUTV app/website. :)

5 miles last week. Lots of reasons, but mostly the weather, the fact that I did it all over the Thanksgiving Point Gardens, good music, and that’s the longest run I have put in since a few stress fractures a couple years ago. My body can’t even follow the 10% rule without injury… More like 1-2% rule. So yeah, that was a great run. :)

Reply

Awesome training week! You have barely skipped a beat despite your stomach issues. Amazingness :) I loved the Brooks socks and can’t wait to wear some! I’m not much of a dresser-upper when it comes to running but these will be so fun for the holidays. xoxo

Reply

Can I ask a really important question? What lipstick/gloss do you wear?
Seems to be the perfect combo of color/shine without being too made up. Looks great after your long runs and when out and about casually. Wish I looked that great after 14 miles!

Reply

That IS an important question (I am obsessed with lip gloss)!! I wear this kind:

https://www.victoriassecret.com/beauty/lip/flavored-gloss-beauty-rush?cm_sp=&ProductID=228348&CatalogueType=OLS

Punchy and Delish are my two favorites right now. Hope you are having an amazing day!

Reply

This morning I had what I consider my first real long run since my injury last month. Just over 13 miles, and it felt GREAT. After the first few miles, I felt almost no pain for the rest of the run, and I ran almost as fast as my pre-injury pace! Super excited to be almost recovered. Glad to hear you’re getting back to normal as well!

I also listened to the first installment of the podcast Serial, and I think I found my running podcast for the next couple of weeks… Has anyone else listened to this while they run?

WAHOOOOOO for your longest post-injury run! That is awesome and such great news that it felt great! Oh, Serial owned me for a few weeks. I was so obsessed and loved listening to it while I ran!

Intervals this morning – mile breakdown: 1 x 1600/ 1 x 1200/ 1 x 800/ 1 x 400/ 1 x 1200/ 1 x 800/ 1 x 400. I did not die and my last 3 were my fastest! I really needed this today, I’ve struggled a bit the past few weeks. It helped that the temperature finally dipped below 60 degrees ;)

I’m off sugar until after my marathon on November 7th. Now I want a Snickers and a Milky Way! Chocolate + caramel = can’t go wrong.

Tuesday Tangent: I unintentionally wore one orange and one pink Bombas sock this morning. When I showed my husband I said, “If I have a great run this morning, I’ll be wearing mismatched socks for the marathon.” Mismatched socks for the win! (or in my case, the PR!)

Reply

KILLER WORKOUT!!! I completely think that you need to wear the mismatched socks on November 7th! You are going to rock that marathon!

Netflix shows: How to Get Away with Murder and Once Upon a Time.
I haven’t had an amazing run in a while, I have a upset piriformis but with the help of my chiropractor’s deep tissue stimulation I am hoping a good run will return.

I lived in Texas for a while when I was very young and had a pony named Thunder. In Jr High I took horse back riding lessons. If horses were cheaper I would def own one.
My Tuesday Tangent my 9 mile commute to work tool 45 minutes because traffic and an accident. The whole time I thought I should have just ran to work.

Yes, as other have said, Jane the Virgin. Friend recommended it to me and I am hooked!

I did not have a horse but I have a friend who has a “horse.” For years now she has told our friends about this “horse” and none of us ever believed her because she could never take us to see it. So anytime we thought someone was making something up we always said, “Oh, like Anji has a ‘horse’?” Then a few years ago I was finally able to go see the mysterious horse and it was so much fun, was the sweetest horse ever! Some of our friend still do not believe in the horse.

And my long run on Saturday was the best since it was a brand new route with no cars rushing past and hardly anyone else around, so peaceful!

Those socks. I think I need a pair. I wonder if my local shop has them. You just gave me an excuse to go running shopping!

Reply

Butterfingers! Best run recently was 8 miles last week because I felt like I could run faster comfortably. And White Collar for Netflix. Just finished the entire show a few days ago and I’m so sad it’s over!

Reply

running socks for all the holidays…ummm yes please!!!!

Best run was 12 miles this morning before work. It was my last LR training for my first half marathon (on Halloween). I never got this far in my training cycle last fall for the same race; developed a stress fracture and was in a boot for a couple months. So, my longest run ever, and I feel great! :)
Rode horses a lot growing up and love them.
Favorite candy bar… I have to go with either 100 Grand or Whatchamacallit… or Peanut Butter Snickers… but I think my all-time faves are the Symphony with blue writing (toffee) and Toblerone! Okay, I thought about that way too much. Also, I’m eating dark chocolate M&Ms right now, so those too.
Tangents- this box of World’s Finest Chocolates for my little one’s school fundraiser is sitting on my desk at work and is not selling itself. Ugh.

Have a great day!

I’ve been sick so I haven’t been able to run much or well but I’m excited to get out and run tonight.

While I didn’t have horses growing up, I did go to horseback riding lessons. And all I can say is, horses are a lot of work. Don’t get me wrong, I like them. But as for owning one, no thank you.

Let us just take a moment to remember that dinner. Not that I will ever forget it, but at least now I look back and laugh. At dinner, when I was hungry, funny wasn’t the adjective I would have used.

Netflix: New Girl. Sometimes my hubs has to check on me when I’m on the treadmill and he hears me laughing so hard I snort :) Yes, there is laughter to be found on the dreadmill!

The Killing is really good. Also I just heard they are bringing back Gilmore Girls for a limited time which has to be true. I will watch them all in one sitting no problem. :)

Reply

PRAISE THE HEAVENS!!! I cannot wait for those episodes! I will have to check out The Killing! Thanks Jessica!

Ahhh I need that potato in my life, stat! Looks so yummy!
Current fave candy is dark chocolate pb cups :) but I recently discovered chocolate covered swedish fish which were pretty darn amazing.
My best run recently was a solid 7 mile tempo run last week, I’ve had some pretty crummy runs lately, so this was a nice confidence builder.

Reply

That spin bike is pretty awesome!

My favorite candy bar is a twix!

Reply

Great… I’ll put your name down:) Hope you are having an amazing day Patty!

Yup, I’m a rider. Started with hunters as a kid, rode on an intercollegiate team in college, and returned to riding just last year after retiring my jumper and taking some time away to get married and start a family. (-: I’m now a member of my local hunt (fox hunting) and riding regularly again. The running has fallen by the wayside a little, but it’s great to be back in the saddle. I hope every day that my kids will grow up loving horses as much as I do!

Reply

DAREDEVIL IS VERY ADDICTING!!!! Especially, if you’re a Marvel super hero movie fan. There’s only one season, the 2nd season will be out next year. ;)

Reply

I love Snickers, but honestly I am addicted to any candy. It is a rough life. I had the best run this morning!!!! I ran fast pain free and it felt amazing, finally. I have never went horseback riding. I want to.

Done & Done :) I sent some info on group space for all-inclusive resorts and also cruises.

glad to see you’re back in the saddle, (pun intended) so quick and doing well…I suffer from gastritis and it is not fun…my trigger foods are tomatoes, chocolate, (big bummer for me), coffee (again..bummer), tomatoes, and raw onions….
why can’t we just be fine eating any food, grrrrr….sensitive bellies are no bueno

Reply

Those are a lot of the same foods for me too! Oh I hope you are feeling good right now and that someday chocolate will feel great again for us:) Have a beautiful day Danielle!

Parenthood is my latest Netflix addiction. It is such a feel good show! It also has at least 6 seasons on Netflix so it’s a great excuse to sit inside all day :)

Reply

I am SOOO obsessed with that show. Best ever!

Reply

I am booking a cabin on that cruise ship. Don’t leave with out me. Kay? kay.

LOL @ that picture of Brooke leaning over that metal pole.

I’m not a fan of the candy Snickers, but my cats name is Snickers. By default, I have to like them I think. My favorite candy bar would have to be Crunch!

Reply

My best run lately (actually best run ever!) was the half I just did on Sunday. The course was BEAUTIFUL and the weather was absolutely perfect. Plus, it helped that I cut 8 minutes off my time!

I did have a horse or two, or maybe 18 or so growing up. And don’t kill me, but I am perfectly happy never having a horse again. That many horses is a lot of work! I don’t mind riding and would happily go riding if I was ever invited, but have no desire to have one of my own.

Best candy bar is a frozen 3 Muskateers or a frozen Reeses. I like them frozen so I can bite all the chocolate off and then enjoy the yummy inside all by itself. I am not a huge chocolate fan, so I would prefer my candy bars to come without the chocolate coating on the outside so I can simply enjoy the nougat inside.

And my Tuesday Tangent…GO ROYALS!!!

Reply

I love the dark chocolate milky ways! Also, I am super into Reign right now. Its pretty cheesy but I love the drama. Also I”m rewatching Mad Men and falling love all over again. I’m so glad you’re up and running again!

Reply

Consider this my cruise RSVP :) That would be AMAZING.

Reply

White Vollar and Pysch are great Netflix shows and Reece’s all the way ?

Reply

Clearly I meant White Collar and also I’d like to RSVP for the cruise ship idea! And now I’ll stop boggarting the comments! ?

Reply

I had literally the same baked potato today. Also, RSVP to the cruise ship idea!! I’m a softball player in college so my best run this week was on Monday, when we did 20 sprints varying position, 5 laying on our stomachs, 5 off of our knees and 10 straight. My favorite candy bar is a Snickers… I want the FIESTY one!!

As to your netflix predicament.. I would suggest Parks and Rec for sure! Then New Girl, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, House of Cards….

Reply

Yesterday’s run was great but a bit chilly!

I love snickers. They are the best. :)
And my grandma had horses, although I didn’t ride them too often, just brushed them and stuff.

Reply

I’ve been taking riding lessons for going on 4 years and seriously it is the absolute best. I always say running and riding are my two coping mechanisms/stress relievers. When I run I can process everything and think through all the hard stuff. When I ride I don’t think about anything, but being present in the moment (getting distracted/lost in your thoughts= falling off)

I would love to have my own horse, but the amount of time, work, and money that would consume… right now I’ll stick with taking weekly lessons, but someday I’ll have my very own horse :)

Favorite Candy Bars currently are Almond Joys (I’m in a coconut phase) and Twix

Reply

I’m officially sending in my RSVP! :)
-I got my first horse at 9 years old for Christmas! I sold my last horse at 26 years old. I’ve been horseless for 6 years. I am so grateful for being able to grow up with horses and horse friends. Some of my best memories :)
-I love caramel…esp homemade!

Reply

Anything with lots of nuts. Payday. Snickers. Clif Bar black cherry with almonds. Can’t stomach candy corn, though.

Reply

Im in for the cruise!
I have always dreamed of having horses, however never rich/devoted enough to have them.
Frozen 3 musketeers for sure!

Reply

Best run was 9 miles with the husband on Saturday. forgot my Garmin and it was NICE to not be watching it. Hubby had his apple watch so caught our pace and it was better than I thought it would be :) #win

We have a horse. Or rather it is my daughter’s horse that we pay for :) He is an Off Track Thoroughbred (retired racehorse) and he is awesome! She’s had him for about 4 years. We board him now but I hope our next house will have enough property that he can live with us. And then we will get goats too!

I don’t really have a favorite candy bar. I LOVE dark chocolate with high cocoa content though!

Reply

I want a miniature donkey and a miniature cow (maybe just a little miniature farm ?)! And definitely yes to the cruise! How much fun would THAT be? And I absolutely LOVE Brooks socks! I can’t get them anywhere locally since my favorite running store doesn’t carry them so I hope they get these cute ones online soon!

Reply

RSVP YES! for the Cruise! that would be the bomb!!

Reply

That lunch looks yummy!

Reply

My best run was a quick 3 miles run late last night. I had a super overwhelming day so I just needed to get out. It’s amazing what a run can do for us mentally. I was in a whole new mindset after just 30 minutes!

Reply

I’m scared of cruises and open water, but up for an all-inclusive resort:)

Reply

Yes for cruising! My husband and I got married on an Alaskan cruise last year, and it is the best!!!! :)

I love horses, and I think I’m a late blooming wannabe cowgirl! On trips, if I can find trail rides, I’m in!

Reply

I love the Snickers bars, so fun!
