Runners’ feet, easing back in, Sunday partying and a huge congrats!

Brooke decided that she wanted to start her Sunday partying pretty early in the morning.  We made pancakes, got back in my bed, got ready and were to church on time (miracle)… my shoes ended up in the picture because I never wear heels until I actually get to the place that I am going to wear them… gotta save my runners’ feet as much as possible.  PPS if you do wear heels THESE are my absolute favorites.  They are pretty darn comfortable and they come in a ton of fun colors.  They are pretty much the only ones I will wear:)

We did one of our favorite Halloween traditions yesterday.

The finished product… I do not recall what Brooke was exclaiming in this picture but I think it was pretty important.

Can you believe I have been sharing our Sunday family dinners on this blog for almost 5 years now???

Well, I have another one for you!  This time it was my nephew’s bday party.

IMG 4231

I think this might have been my last watermelon of 2015 and it most definitely hit the spot for me last night.

IMG 0357

We took a picture of him right at 6:34 because that was the time that he was born thirteen years ago:)  He was stoked about the whole situation.

IMG 4235

He chose his favorite for dessert—>  homemade oreos.

IMG 4241

He got a pretty sweet new bike for his bday and Brooke worked on her bare foot running.

IMG 4238

A super dark picture but my aunt is showing my mom letters that she had saved from 1979!!! My mom lived in Utah and my aunt in California at the time and these letters that my mom wrote to her younger sister were the sweetest things ever.  I need to start writing my sister letters because our texts contain too many emojis and they get confusing.

IMG 0359

My favorite way to end the weekend.  The family being lazy in the front room while exchanging back scratches with my sister.

IMG 0365

Remember the friend that I told you about that is just starting to run?? Well, the latest update made me really happy and I can validate the fact about them not going an entire thirty minutes without laughing:)

HUGE CONGRATS to my sweet friend—>  TINA!

IMG 0368

My coach sent me over my schedule for training this week.  We will be easing back in and playing it a bit by ear…  I will say I am excited for today’s workout and to see if I can get these legs moving again.

I’m so glad you’re starting to ease into training again! Have you decided on a race?

I’m excited for my spin class today! I did back to back long runs this weekend and my legs are ready for a break from running! Happy Monday!

I was born at 1:01 am and I know my kids’ times too, although occasionally I mix them up :) Love making pumpkin cookies with the kids and I’ll probably always love candy corn too.

I’m pretty sure I was born at 7-something in the morning. Can’t tell you the exact time though!

No October birthday for me, but it is my mom and little sister’s birthday month!

I’m not a big halloween fan, so nothing specific, but I do love that everyone in the office decides to dump all their extra mini candy bars in our office candy jar! :)

I’m pumped to run after work today! Mondays always go super fast, so that’ll be here before I know it!

I was born at 5 something in the morning on Oct. 9. My sister’s bday is today!

I love Halloween sugar cookies! And the giant Jolly Ranchers :)

I don’t run on Mondays, but I have a tough track workout tomorrow. Eeek!!

Three kids, 6:56 pm, 11:12 am and 12:00 pm. All by c-section by the same doctor in the same hospital. All on Fridays. Spread over 9 years…with the last 2 in the last 2.

I like 100 Grand bars.

No workout today. Tomorrow is last ‘official’ 2 mile run before the marathon, but realistically I’ll do 2 more with ’20 minute runs.’

I’m excited to get back to running this week after a recovery break after my marathon! Peanut butter M &Ms are my favorite Halloween candy.

I’m jealous of your heels. I’m dealing with a foot injury and it’s killing me to not be able to wear them!

My kids ask every birthday the exact time they were born on every one of their birthdays. I really need to have it written down somewhere and tell them on their birthday because they would think that was cool. My husband and my daughter were born in October. It’s the best month! My favorite Halloween treat is a Russell Stover dark chocolate covered marshmallow pumpkin. Try it. Definitely excited for my run today- fall running is the best.

Reply

Happy birthday to your nephew! My birthday is actually today, and I was born around 6:30 am, so that must be why I am such a morning person. I started out the day with a relaxing 7 mile run!

Happy Birthday Lisa!! :)

We are doing another family 5K this morning, running around the Monuments in DC- my favorite family run.

I was born at 6:04pm and my daughter was born at 11:24am, neither in October. But my Mom and sister both have October birthdays!

My fave Halloween candy are Reece’s PB Cup(frozen) and Snickers; they are perfectly sized!

Good luck with your runs this week!

Candy corn or mini Twix are my favorites for Halloween candy!
5 Miles to start this Monday!
Have a great one, Janae!

I think I was born around 8am but I’m not totally sure. I’m excited for my run this afternoon because I need to stretch and I only seem to do that after a run. Also, candy corn ftw.

Reply

5:31 second miles?!?! ten times?! Your friend is SUPER human!!!

I’m glad you are able to ease back into training Janae. I cannot even imagine how hard this last month has been for you.

I’ve met Tina before and she works so hard, she truly deserved that win.

I was born at 11:29am and my son was born at 5:58am. My workout was bright and early this morning and was awesome!

Reply

I have no idea what time I was born (though I weirdly know it was a Wednesday?) but my son was born at 7:55 pm!
If we’re talking strictly Halloween candy, candy corn all the way, otherwise, gimme Reese’s!

My daughter is turning 2 on October 17. She was born at 12:03 pm. My oldest was born at 3:00 pm on the dot. I was born at 11:00pm on the dot.

On October 19th I’ll turn 41- not sure of the time.

I can usually remember the approximate time of my daughter’s birth but apparently I haven’t had enough coffee this morning;-o

I make my favorite Halloween Snack Mix once a year. You gotta try this!
1 bag candycorn
1 bag peanut m&m’s
1 bag plain m&m’s
1 bag chex mix

I apologize in advance for any health goals this just ruined.

Looks like an awesome day!

I had a good cross training workout this morning. 20 minutes/5 miles on the stationary bike and then about 30 minutes of swimming. I’m a new swimmer, and today was the first day I did laps without my fins! It was slow and I drank a lot of pool water, but feeling great that I was able to do it! :)

Hope your workout goes well today!

I was born at 3:05 pm. My Dad still calls me at exactly that time every year on my birthday. It’s really sweet!

I have no clue what time I was born. Oct. 21 is my birthday. the big 42! My daughter was born at 3:50 something am on Oct. 3rd. We love October over here! We celebrate the entire month!
Candy corn ALL the way! I need to try the candy corn/ salted peanut combo.
I ran 16 Sat and possibly reactivated my achilles tendonitis. :( I took a forced day off yesterday with zero pain so I’m attempting 3 today. Wish me luck! It seems like I ALWAYS get injured on the left side. 2 left hip stress fractures, planters fasciitis on the left heel (constant), and left achilles tendonitis. Does anyone else have this issue of injuries always sticking to one side? If so, any advice????
Have a great Monday all!!!

Reply

Hi Monica – you might try a gait analysis. I had recurring achilles tendonitis (always on my left side) and had a gait analysis done as part of my PT. I had a funny whip around with my left foot only. By changing to more of a midfoot strike (vs. heel strike) the funny whip went away and my running became much more efficient. I also had a weaker glute on the left side so have worked to strengthen both glutes but especially the left. Good luck and happy early bday!

My son is an October baby! He just turned 12 (omg) and was born at 12:47 pm. Those Halloween cookies look so good!

Yay that you are being able to get back to running!

I’m pretty sure I was born @ 6:34 in the morning, Mady was born at 11:03pm, Braden at 7:55pm, and Luke at 1:10pm.

My middle guy is celebrating the big 10 on Wednesday!

Today is repeats, I wouldn’t say I’m excited as much as I’m ready for them to be done!

Reply

I’m glad you’re feeling better and starting to be able to get back out there!

My workout is already done for the day! I did masters swim class today, and I thought I was going to diiiiiiiiie.

Reply

Nice on easing back into your workouts. I hope today’s goes well.

I did my half-marathon after being injured and stuck with the run/walk plan. (6 min run, 2 walk). I finished faster than I’ve been running, which felt great. The course was hilly but it’s a route I run fairly regularly.

I like dark chocolate best, no matter what holiday it is. I do make caramel apples for Halloween and I enjoy those.

Reply

My son’s birthday is 10/18 (he was born at 10:53pm…I think). I am not really much into Halloween candy…or any candy really. I realize that comment may get me banned from you blog. ;)

No run for me today…Monday’s are my day for yoga or strength training. Today, it’s yoga. I am excited for today’s workout because I think I have tweaked my piriformis…and last night I kind of tweaked my knee playing soccer. :( Half-marathon in 12 days…must not be injured!

Reply

S’mores candycorn <3 I really need to find and try the new peanut butter cup candycorn.

Definitely feature any new booties that you have. I searched your blog about booties already, but I need a pair that one can basically teach in … and also chase down a bus at times and also wear for ~6-8 hours…..

So happy for Tina!!! What an incredible feeling. 5:30 min/miles? BEAST. She’s amazing.

I don’t know what time I was born. My younger two were afternoon babies. My oldest one was in the wee hours of the morning. I don’t know how to wear heels, seriously. I love the miniature Hershey bars, but have not had any yet.
I just got home from an 8.5 mile run and I am super happy with the results.
This evening I am going to run 1.5 miles without a watch or anything just to enjoy the scenery.
have a great day

Those Halloween cookies look so good! I need to make some. I really enjoy the Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins this time of year. My birthday is October 24th.

Reply

ooooo those halloween cookies look amazing!!! Send some my way ;)

My favorite halloween treat might be homemade popcorn balls. I havent had them in AGES but we made them when we were little and they’re soooo good. You have to make them yourself though, the store bought kind dont compare. Candy corn also hits the spot sometimes. :)

There is honestly nothing sweeter and more motivating than someone who is just getting started with running! It’s SO identifiable, because I feel like all of us go through our own little phases of having to start from scratch, and it’s really the one thing that unites us all! Love it so much :)

Yay Tina!!!!! So excited for you!!! Totally well deserved!!!

Yum! I didn’t know homemade Oreos were a thing! I know it’s not a treat, but we always make chili on Halloween and I look forward to it every year. I am doing a Halloween themed fun run at Fleet Feet tonight and am dressing up like a ninja so I’m very excited!

I was born just after midnight on a Saturday night. September 5th. I have a friend who was born the day after -our moms we’re friends when they had us and we are still friends. That’s my oldest non-family friend.
I didn’t run this weekend. I’m still failing at that somehow but my weekend recap is here: http://runwright.net/2015/10/12/a-5f-kind-of-weekend/

Homemade Oreos?!!!!!!

My birthday is in 1 week! I think I was born around 4 in the morning. All 9 lbs of me (poor ma)

Reply

I was born at 3:30 pm. It was HOT (June) and I was 2 weeks overdue. My mom tells me the story of how they were pushing me down to see her and she thought, “wow, that’s a loud baby. Poor mom.” and what do you know….it was me! I haven’t changed a bit. Unless it’s work I’m always a few minutes late and the loud part. Yeah. Still am.

Not much into Halloween now that my kids are grown. I am going to a Halloween party this year for the first time in YEARS. I can’t figure out what to be!

I have an October birthday, the 3rd!! Best birthday month ever is the phrase in our family, we have a lot of October birthdays. I’m excited about getting some workouts in this week since I’ve totally laid off for the past few….and I’m running a half this weekend!!

I’m excited to finally be working out again. I can’t run, unfortunately. But I can do all the strength training and cross training I want to do! Woo woo!

Glad to hear things are getting better! Looking forward to an update on what marathon you are thinking about adding to your schedule. ☺ I’m still guessing CIM. My favorite Halloween candy would definitely have to be candy corn. Although I always like any themed candy (like pumpkin shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups) because it always tastes extra fresh!

Reply

Those shoes are super cute! My dad and my future mother-in-law both have October birthdays and we celebrated both last week!

I was born at 6:30pm. I was super excited to run today because it was cloudy and with a nice breeze. Only did five miles but slowly increasing my mileage again.

I think today’s run is getting switched to tomorrow…….the allergies are getting the best of me.

I was born at almost 1 am…………my poor mom!
I love candy corn and those candy pumpkins. I also really love the fun size bags of m&m’s!
And my husband has a birthday on the 22nd and my brother turns 16 tomorrow! EEK!

I used to remember the exact time I was born… I want to say it’s 6:20 AM, but I’m not certain of that.

I’m not a big fan of candy, but I’ve been really craving candy corn lately. It’s been at least a year since I’ve had it. But currently I’m enjoying homemade sweet potato pie, which is at least a fall treat if not a Halloween one.

My son was born at 1:19 – don’t think I’ll ever forget that.

Funny thing – I was born at 4:28 on 4/28 :)

Lazy days with family are the best!!

Don’t know what it is about fast Sunday, but when I break my fast, it’s like I try and make up for not eating for the last week, when in reality it was 2 meals. I eat so freaking much that I always have plenty of energy for my Monday workouts. Which is good, because it takes a lot of energy to hold back the pukes when I am working out after eating crap.

My mom says she doesn’t remember what time I was born, or even much about the labor and delivery…or even being pregnant with me! Noooot really sure how to take that.

Peanut m&m’s and candy corn. Together. Preferably 2 peanut m&m’s to 1 candy corn. Actually, not preferably. That IS the way it should be done.

I am so glad you have been feeling better and have been able to eat some food again.

No birthday this month. But is it too early to put in my birthday request? I would like you to do my hair (the picture of you and Brooke – you are just too dang gorgeous) and some back tickling. I think this is a totally normal request, by the way.

I’ll share this cuz it’s cool:

I was born on Friday, 8/19 at 7:31 p.m.

My son was due on Friday , 9/18 (819 and 918)

He actually was born on Friday, 9/25, at 1:37 p.m. (731 and 137).

I think this is really strange but cool.

Quite coincidentally, we were also baptized on the same day many years apart.

Belle this is SO cool, stuff like this intrigues me.

My husband, myself, my daughter and my son were all born on the 21st of the month.
