I love tart cherry juice! I don’t know if it works or not, but I don’t have any injuries and I use it after most runs!

Favorite candy…probably a milk chocolate Dove bar. Keep it simple. Lunch today came courtesy of the BBQ food truck in town. It was awesome. And I was stuffed!

I just finished reading Mrs. Kennedy and Me, it was written by Jackie Kennedy’s Secret Service Agent. It was a really beautiful look at the relationship she had with the person she spent probably more time with than her husband. So good. Or anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

I’m with Brooke, I consider my cousins my siblings too! They are so sweet!

You just changed my life by enlightening me to the fact that there are 3 sequels to The Giver! I read that book ages ago and always really liked it, and of course the movie came out a year or so ago but I had no idea. So Thank You random stranger! Going to download them now…

Fav candy: wow. Not sure I could pick just one! Anything dark chocolate I guess. Or Butterfinger when I really need a sugar rush in the middle of the school day (like 2-3 times per year, usually on concert days.)

No magazine subscriptions. Still sad that Everday Food got canceled because it was a real favorite!

Lunch today: Sandwich and watermelon inhaled while my choir campers ate their lunches. And more coffee. :)

Did you get a pancake breakfast too? Ross would be so jealous. He loves the breakfast platter. I’m not gonna lie, I like a good sausage and egg sandwich on an english muffin.

I subscribe to none, because I’m lame. But Ross subscribes to Popular Mechanics and some Civil Engineering magazine, cause he’s a dork.

Leftovers (red lentil and coconut curry soup)

Of course Jim Gaffigan’s books are an easy and fun read. One of my favorite books of all times is These is my Words by Nancy Turner.

The MAX!!! Bahaha. You are Kelly Kapowski. I think Megan would be Lisa (since she is a fashionista/shopaholic) can I be Jesse? I’m off to go find me some caffeine pills. #123Stretch #PutYourMindToIt #GoForIt #GetDownAndBreakASweat #RockAndRollYouAintSeenNothingYet

Reply

Great question Courtney! Usually I wait a few months and a lot of times Brooke never meets the person I am dating. You can add beet juice into your training too ;)

I just started drinking beet juice before important runs … it seems to work but of course it’s hard to tell. It does taste like dirt though IMO!

Cherry Active Concentrate is the bomb. I completely messed up my foot last year and my doctor suggested it to me in between xrays, anti-inflammatory etc. Any flare-ups since I’ve sorted out with cherry active alone. Apparently it’s an anti inflammatory and aids the break down uric acid crystals that cause swelling and unbearable pain sometimes.

He also told me to eat more root vegetables and drink more coffee so every time I see my mother she makes me turnip and potato gratin and takes me for a latte ;-) Can’t say I’ve noticed them having the same effect!

Reply

Hi! I would love to hear more about the cherry active that helps you recover so well! Where do you buy it? How much do you drink…with one meal or within a day or week? Thank you so much for your help!!
I am in the middle of training for the Chicago Marathon and could definitely use some help for my tired muscles!

Hey! I used to blog and read blogs all the time and now just check in on you and one or two others : ) I wanted to comment just to say that A) Brooke is still so so adorable B) I am beyond excited that you have found a boy worth semi name dropping in your posts – I split from a guy I was dating for 4 years a little over a year ago and ended up dating / falling in love / buying a house / getting engaged to some one I have been great friends with since I was a kid, when things with my ex ended I was definitely apprehensive about finding someone new. In the end everything really does happy for a reason and we all end up exactly where we are supposed to be, I hope he is something special and treats you like the badass biatch that you are C) Great job in your race last weekend, it is about time to update your 1/2 marathon PR in your side bar! Ciao!

Just an FYI, I am a biker (road cycling not Harley!) and not a runner anymore because I’ve developed arthritis in various joints but most recently in my feet. :-( I have been drinking Tart Cherry Juice for it’s anti inflammatory properties. I read (? Somewhere) that it has one of the highest levels of antioxidants that you can find. I also take fish oil supplements. Finally, and you won’t like this one, I have been trying a no Sugar, no wheat diet ! I know! Horrors! But that is suppose to help with decreasing the inflammatory process in the body. Now I am almost 3 decades older than you, but still very very active and hope to remain so as time moves forward.

I just finished “100 Marathons” by Jeff Horowitz. Very quick read but a great memoir of some of his favorite and most challenging races!
