Silentish Saturday with a side of the track.

Neither of us were feeling our normal treadmill running routine so we hit up the track instead (I’ll post the workout next week).

Next stop was the pool and we shared some salad, popcorn, apples and sandwiches.

We kept things simple for dinner too and Brooke had her favorite combo lately:

Not much better than warm evenings outside.

I spend way too long picking out my watermelons at the store.  It is a very important decision in my eyes because it is a sad day when you are excited about the watermelon that you bought and then you cut into it and it is a blah one.  We had watermelon and yogurt parfaits for dessert.

I should probably get in a double digit run today because I have the Seattle 1/2 marathon in TWO WEEKS.  I can’t wait.  Seattle is one of my absolute favorite places.

Who has their long run today?  Tomorrow?

What are your Saturday plans?

Yum watermelon! I need to get to Costco to get another one!

We are going to a barbeque tonight. Our friend is using his new smoker!

Tomorrow will hopefully be my long run day! Have a great Saturday!

I wish watermelon came with a seed-to-melon ratio tag to make decisions easier.

I did my long run yesterday because we’re on our way to the beach! I did manage to squeeze in a 1 hr run before we left this morning. It was painfully early…lol!
I can’t get enough watermelon…they’re so good this year. And, you’re right about the disappointment of getting home only to find out that you’ve bought a bad melon.

You just reminded me to add watermelon to my shopping list. I was thinking the other day how I needed one of those! No specific plans this weekend. May try to do some early morning hiking tomorrow before it gets to 105 degrees. Gotta love Phoenix summers!

Reply

105!? Yikes. I get testy when it’s upper 80s. How’s the humidity?

Reply

I am running today and tomorrow, but since my 1/2 is a week away, I am not going too far on my runs. Today is probably 6 and tomorrow maybe 7 or 8.

I love Seattle! I’ve run the marathon twice and my marathon PR was in Seattle. The city is so beautiful!

I have a 12 mile run tomorrow morning, today we are painting one side of the house. Not my favorite task but it is an easy section of the house at least!

Have a great weekend!

Watermelon is my favorite! You reminded me that I need to buy one!
My long run is tomorrow, in the form of a half marathon race! Today I have to work and head to packet pick up. I’m extremely happy that the race is in my town and starts right down the street from my house :)

No running for me this weekend…again….boo :-(

Not sure what I’m doing this weekend, I’m busy for the next few weekends so maybe house stuff?

I love having watermelon on hand all…summer…long! Need to pick up one today for sure. Saturday plans = lunch + movie date w/ husband. Going to see Aloha (mmmm, Bradley Cooper!)

I agree- it’s really disappointing to cut into a bad watermelon! The one you got looks delicious.

I am obsessed with watermelon lately, thankfully the ones I buy have been great! Finished my long run, off to the beach. Have a great weekend :)

Long run today with my son in the park. Lots of hills! But it is cooler here and slightly raining, so it will be good.
We are selling our house so hopefully the families seeing it this weekend will want to buy it! Fingers crossed!

Today is my rest day! Cleaning out my closet and switching to tanks and shorts!! Can you share how you find the best watermelon?! I had that happen last week….. I was so excited, even sliced my finger cutting it open and it was a dud. :( thanks!

Reply

I’m the same way about watermelon.! Looks like you chose good on that one though :)
And Seattle oooh awesome.! You’ll be in my kneck of the woods.
Long run will be tomorrow. And today I’m just running and working

I love that Brooke has fun at the track, so cute :) I did 10 with a friend this morning and I’m clearly not used to the heat yet, it was tough!

Reply

I’m running the Seattle half!!! We’re doing two of the same races, Seattle and st George! We were so excited to get to play outside after all the rain. What’s the details on that super cute shirt you’re wearing?

Ran 7 today and will probably do 5 tomorrow. I am enjoying not being in training season:)

Reply

I think today I am going to run inside since it is raining, then meeting a friend for lunch, then making salsa and seeing John Mulaney tonight at the Chicago Theater. YEsssss.

Reply

I was supposed to run 12 today but my legs are dead so I only did 10! I did 12 last week when I should have done 10 so it’s all good… Right?!?!!
We’ve had great weather in Seattle this week so I’m hopeful it’ll be great for the Rock n Roll half. Cool mornings in the 50-60’s getting up to 75ish by evening. Pretty mild and perfect :)

Reply

Girl… yes! Ten is AWESOME!!! Thanks for letting me know about the weather… I hope it stays that way too:) Sounds perfect! Enjoy your weekend!

You’ll be in my city in two weeks! Seattle is so beautiful and I have so many local races on my goal list.
Just a short run today (since I did a sort of long run yesterday) followed by some hiking. Marathon training begins Monday!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Sitting on a dock right now with some fresh blueberries and myPurple PureFlows. Pretty perfect morning, then a wedding tonight!!

I’m moving to seattle in July!!!!! Can’t wait to explore the city by foot!

Have a GREAT day! It’s going to be a good one :)

Reply

I’ll get my long run in tomorrow. I had to treadmill it (again) today, thanks to the storms that just won’t stop.

Today is going to be a pretty restful day spent inside, because it seriously won’t stop raining here. At least I’ll get some quality napping achieved. Then I get to hang with my family tonight, which is always great! :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Changed my long run to tomorrow since it was pouring when I woke up. But got 5 miles in on the treadmill! It has been raining non-stop here in WI.

My older sister is getting married in August so I am spending time with the ladies in my family getting things together for her shower next month.

Have a great weekend! So jealous of the sunshine by you!

Long running 10-12 tomorrow with friends, then a 5K Friday night, and the RnR Seattle half the following week. We’ll be running buddies! Except you’ll be far far ahead of this lady. But the reason I’m commenting for the first time now, after reading since you were pre-Brooke (what?!), is that I live in Seattle and wanted to recommend the most magical place to you. It’s called Hello Robin and your love for ice cream and all things tasty means it should probably, most definitely be on your list of after-race fuel. It’s on Capitol Hill, at 19th and Mercer (I think, Google is far more reliable). It combines Molly Moon’s ice cream and fresh baked cookies into rainbows and butterflies (also known as ice cream sandwiches). You pick two cookies and your preferred ice cream and they make you a custom sandwich. It’s to die for! Hope to see you at the race, or at Hello Robin afterwards!

PLEEAASSE post everything possible about Seattle! I am moving there for two years.. and have never been… and I don’t know anyone on the west coast either.

HAPPY WEEKEND. Watermelons are amazing, but I usually over-eat and feel pregnant.

Today was my long run which was 5.5 miles. On the treadmill. I hate the treadmill for long, steady runs. I’d much rather be outside. But, no sitter for the little one so I headed to the gym and she went to childcare. Gotta get it done!

Grocery shopping today. I pretty much get the same things each week but usually try one or two new things from Trader Joe’s. Love that place!

Cousin coming to visit this weekend and we are headed to see Pitch Perfect 2. Definitely gotta grab some popcorn while I’m out shopping today. Maybe some shopping or the zoo tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Oy i technically have long runs today AND tomorrow…. Ultra training is the worst

How exciting that you’re running the Seattle Half! I’ll be there cheering on friends and my husband (and you too!)! I wish I were able to run it this year, but my 35wk baby bump is a bit of a wild card on long runs, so I’m in it for the cheering and brunch afterwards! Best of luck!!!

Girls on the Run 5k was this morning! I coached my stepdaughter’s team and ran with her… sure not my fastest run but it’s not about me!!

Minnie Mouse chicken nuggets?! The cuteness!!

I was born and raised in Seattle, and live here still. LOVE the Seattle Marathon/1/2 Marathon. So glad you will be in my part of the world ;) No running it this year, but will be thinking of you!

Reply

You want to pick a watermelon with the most yellow belly. They are the best.

My Mr. 8 had a swim meet and a soccer game this morning, the temps are currently at 54….and raining…it was a fairly miserable morning for me.

Reply

No long run for me this weekend as I am racing a 10k tomorrow!
I do the same thing with avocados, I literally stand there for ages picking at the best one. Nothing worse than having an avocado that wasn’t the perfect ripeness.

Reply

I’m hoping to get in a few miles once the sun starts to set. I’m spending my Saturday watching my mom; she just had surgery and needs a babysitter. :)

Reply

I guess I had a longish run this morning at 7 miles but hey when it’s in the 80’s and 100% humidity at 6:45AM, you do what you can. :)

Reply

It’s still nice and cool in Colorado for which I’m grateful… ;)

I think that’s great that you and Brooke go to the track. A fun and unique mommy/daughter date. :)

I do love summer and watermelon. Can’t wait to buy a watermelon soon…

Reply

i had a long run this am and we saw 3 dead snakes! Terrible and gross! Seattle 1/2 is going to a blast for you and super hilly:) my husband and I lived there for a few years, there are awesome restaurants! Check out Circa, Matador or the Pink Door!

Reply

I’ve got 6 miles scheduled for tomorrow!
The watermelon looks awesome :) yum!

Reply

My long run will be happening tomorrow. It may end up happening on the treadmill though, the weather is supposed to be really unpleasant.

I watched my boyfriend run a crazy obstacle race today. He had a lot of fun :)

Reply

I just bought watermelon today too! I usually get a 1/4 or 1/2 because I like seeing how red it is, haha. Also it’s just for me so I can only have so much in my fridge at one time.

Reply

Let’s add watermelon picking lessons to our list for next week. K? K.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that white shirt with the flower looking sleeves, where is it from??

Missed my long runs this week :-/ Hoping for next week!

Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets are a favorite in our house. They smell kind of funky though…. :)
