Boston Day #2!!!

The temperature is going to be perfect, the rain is going to be not quite so perfect and who knows what the wind will be:)  But we will all be in the same boat and we will be running the Boston Marathon so who cares… no matter what, it will be quite the party on Monday!

Saturday started off with our last run of our training cycle.  3.5 miles at who knows what pace.

IMG 9120

Just cross your fingers that the weather forecast for Monday suddenly changes to mimic the weather that we had yesterday:)

IMG 9112

Wouldn’t it be amazing to always walk inside your house and have eggs, potatoes and fruit waiting for you?  Hotels are the best.

IMG 9113

We showered real quick and made it just in time to watch the Men and Women’s Elite mile.

Dejen Gebremeskel finished in 4:04 for first place!

IMG 0804

They all cruised by so so fast!

IMG 0809

Seyaum made a new course record with a 4:35!!!

IMG 0821

We went back to the expo for a while, ate some pizza and then this chocolate dipped macaroon that entered my life at just the right time.

IMG 0835

The absolute most exciting part of the day was going to a Q & A with Desi Linden and Amy Cragg!

PS did you guys know that these two used to be roommates together at ASU?!

IMG 0842

A few things about them!

Desi—>  She will be doing 6 easy miles today followed by a lot of relaxation.  She bought Red Sox tickets for everyone staying with her so that she could have some time on her own today before the race.  She will be running in the Brooks T7s.  Before today’s race she will be eating a bagel with peanut butter, lots of coffee and then a power gel about an hour before the race.

Amy—> Amy will be getting in a 4 mile run today with strides and drills followed by some chiro work.  She will be relaxing and doing her best to not think about the race.  She’ll be eating eggs, toast and bacon (if they have it)!  Amy will also be wearing the Brooks T7s to race in.

IMG 9191

And then we found the finish line.  The beautiful, beautiful finish line.

IMG 9186

Have a fabulous Sunday and pray for a little less wind for us on Monday mmkay?!?  Thanks!

I tried keeping an eye out for you yesterday, hoping that I’d randomly bump into my favorite running blogger, but no such luck. Turns out we watched the same incredible races just about 1/2 a block from each other! In any event, I’m glad you’re loving Boston as much as those of us from Boston do (minus the normal traffic and lack of parking :) ). Hope you have another fabulous day!!

I am enjoying all your pre-race posts and so psyched for you! I don’t have plans to run a marathon in my lifetime, but you have me *halfway* off the fence at this time ; ) GO GIRL!

Temps look great for running. The winds will not be as strong as the Utah canyon winds you’ve trained in. Planning on wearing blue and yellow tomorrow to try to channel the Boston fun.

Sooo jealous. Ah that’s awesome.!! That’s so cool you got to take a pic with them :) and hoping you guys don’t get too much wind on Monday.!!

I am soooo hoping that you have little to no wind and that the rain isn’t too heavy. I actually run really well in some rain so maybe it’s not such a bad weather forecast! Get some rest today!

Reply

Good luck! Prayers and good vibes for an awesome, minimally windy race :)

Reply

Have fun Janae! I do hope the wind holds off for the race.

Today was CRAZY windy during my run, but weirdly it was my fastest run in awhile. I think when it was at my back it was pushing me along more than when it was trying to knock me down while I was running into it.

Can’t wait to see the big event tomorrow!!

I’m having so much fun reliving my Boston weekends vicariously through your daily recaps! Good luck tomorrow, and have fun! Can’t wait to read your race recap!

Wouldn’t it be the bomb dot comb if the wind showed up as a tailwind? How sweet would that be?!?! Otherwise, yeah… wind sucks hairy sasquatch fingers. And are you really standing there beside Desi and Amy? You got to TOUCH THEM?!? SO cool, I can’t even stand it. Have fun, girly!!!! WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

Reply

Good luck!!!! I am so jealous. Can’t wait to run Boston one day!

Reply

Sounds like so much fun!! Do you wear a hat in the rain? I did for my half marathon in Nashville in 2013 and I loved that it kept the rain from getting in my eyes. I am sure you know that, but I love running in ball caps! You’re going to kill it! Will be cheering for you!

Reply

When you said what they run and eat before “today’s” race….the race is on Monday. So are you telling us what they do the day before on Sunday? I’m assuming the miles run is on Sunday, the day before, but the food you mentioned is on Marathon Monday….

Reply

Good luck!! Trust your training and enjoy every second of it!

Good luck tomorrow!

I will most definitely be praying for you/the weather. But I also know you will be able to handle and conquer whatever comes your way.

I will also be praying the a delicious chocolate dipped coconut macaroon magically lands in my hand today. We learn in church all the time that miracles still happen today. Every time I see those delicious cookies at Yogurtland, I legitimately fill up a cup with them and buy them. YOLO.
