I think I can and I want 10 more.

Nothing like a sandwich at the airport at 7 in the morning.

I took Friday off from running because there was no way I was waking up any earlier than we already had to to get to the airport for our flight.  Added bonus—>  whenever I take a rest day the day before my long run my run always feels a million times better than if I did run the day before.

I promise she thinks I am cool.

She has become quite the little travel expert over the last 1.5 years of flying back and forth to California.

We spent our afternoon doing what we know best:

1.  Eating burrito bowls:

2.  Hanging out at indoor playgrounds.

After we dropped off Brooke to her dad I was able to get together with three of my really close friends from my California days.  It doesn’t matter how long we go in-between seeing each other, we always just pick back up from where we left off.

IMG 4475

Three of us split a club flatbread pizza, a beet salad (turns out golden beets aren’t that bad) and a pork sandwich.

People that share entrees are my kind of people.

I really don’t have words to describe this peanut butter, s’more pazookie.  I just know I want about 10 more of them right this second.

Oh ya know, spring hit Northern California in January this year?!?!

Off for 16 miles!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can:)

I hope your Saturday is amazing!!!

16 miles in Cali! Jealous! I’m sure the change of scenery and temps will give you a bit of extra energy.

It snowed here overnight. I’m laying in the bed listening to the snow plows and contemplating getting up. :)

Have a good run Janae. Brooke travels more than a lot of adults. LOL.

I do agree about long runs. I’ve found when I take either the day or two days off before I have much more productive runs. Enjoy your 16!

OH man, I’m with the group. Brooke’s expression is priceless. I’ve seen that same look from my teenagers. Expect it more often. Only it won’t be accidental and you’ll question the “cool” thing a lot more. haha.

She IS quite the traveler and you really did get this figured out. Nice job Miss Janae.

Oh how good that cookie looks! I have been meaning to make a deep dish giant cookie in my cast iron skillet. I must do it already! Have a great run.

Have a great long run! I’m going to be doing 11 treadmill miles tomorrow to avoid the snow/ice.

That airport pic cracks me up! And I just saw that my local grocery store now carries Love Beets. I’m intrigued, but also nervous to try them! Is it worth taking the plunge?

Reply

Not worth it but if you are forced to try them then they aren’t that bad;)

Reply

She’s a braver traveler than me…………i hate airplanes! And the cookie looks wonderful!

Enjoy your 16 in beautiful Cali! I am sure the weather must be really nice!

Tomorrow a cold front is rolling in (50s/60s) for my half marathon! This is half #4 for me. Can’t wait! :)

Have fun on your long run today! I ran three miles on the treadmill this morning and it felt pretty good :) Also that dessert makes me want a cookie sundae….yum!

That’s so funny! I had a beet and goat cheese salad last night, too, and my thoughts were also, “Hey! These golden beets aren’t so bad!” But that might have also been because I totally LOVE goat cheese and balsamic. Whatever, though. Word is they’re super healthy. #goatcheesewitheverything

Does Brooke like to fly? It appears that way in the picture. :)

When you are doing your longs elsewhere (i.e., California) do you run alone or with friends? How do you know where to run?

Reply

*long runs*

Reply

I usually run with people:) Or I just run away from where I am staying and then turn my cell phone GPS on to take me back to where we are staying!

Reply

People that share entrees are my kind of people too!

Reply

I had golden beets over the summer and they were pretty good. I didn’t even know they existed until then! Hope you enjoy the weather :)

Reply

We had our first snow of the winter in TN and I got to do my first long run since I got injured. It’s already a great Saturday! Happy weekend:)

Reply

Omg that pizza and that ice cream smores. Yummm. That looks amazing.
Have a great run today. Love Brookes cute little pants

I never understand why people WOULDNT want to share entrees. You can try more things!!

Welcome to California! Enjoy your run! :) And sharing is caring!

I cannot HANDLE: a peanut butter s’more pazookie??? LIKE I AM SPEECHLESS and I need to get on a plane to California right now to eat it! :)

Reply

I’m glad you have good friends to be with in California. That’s awesome. Enjoy your sunny long run. Good runs seem to come out of nowhere. I could be hungover, overtired, emotionally spent, and I’ll hammer out a 20 miler like nobody’s business and other times I’ll be all refreshed, well-fed and my run could go in the tank. It’s a tricky sport!

Reply

That peanut butter s’mores pazookie?! I die!!
Good luck with your 16 miler!

Reply

Brooke’s face is too cute!

Safe travels and I want one of those pizookies!

Reply

I’m really excited that something called a pazookie exists. I’m mad that I’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard of this until now.

YOU CAN DO IT. This is my favorite workout motivation….

That look Brooke is giving you at the airport is priceless!

Good luck on your long run.

I always say that you know someone is one of your best friends or the right one for you, when you don’t see them for ages and it feels like you saw them yesterday!

Have a blast with your friends and good luck on your run!

Reply

I usually take Fridays totally off then go for my long run on Saturday. My legs feeling fresh makes the run so much more fun!

Reply

If this is too personal, feel free not to answer, but, do you have to see Brooke’s dad when you drop her off? I hope not!

Reply

Luckily, I don’t have to:) I hope you are having an amazing day Kat!

Reply

Indoor playground? These should exist more in states that have cold winters.

Reply

Brooke is really adorable!

Reply

That desert looks amazing! You almost made me want to lick my computer! Enjoy your run.

Did you really just say peanut butter smore pzookie?? You need to find a way to freeze, package and transport one back to me. My stomach just grumbled thinking about it.

Hope your run was good today and that you enjoy the Cali weather. And that first picture of Brooke?? Too. Freakin. Cute.

Reply

Brooke’s bun/facial expression in the first pic. SO adorable!!! I hope your run was great and that you had wonderful time with running friends! I had to do my run solo today and while I had a good podcast, it’s still so much better when you’re with people. I sure wish I was running in Cali right now! It was 36F today and it felt like summer.

I don’t know how I feel about that beet salad.. just don’t like beets!

Have a great run! That look Brooke gave you at the airport was adorably hilarious :) And I think I would like about 10 peanut butter, s’more pazookies right now, too!
