I promise and tradition #4

Pretty sure one of Brooke’s favorite things ever is to go to the movies.  It runs in our DNA.

We saw the Penguins of Madagascar last night and while Brooke loved it (as long as it is a cartoon and there are animals in it then she is pleased), I almost fell asleep 10 times.

IMG 0144

She was really into it.

IMG 1805

I was pretty stoked about my 1/2 and 1/2 popcorn.  They put in a barrier in the tub so that we could have butter popcorn on one side and kettle corn on the other.

IMG 0143

Pre-movie fuel.  I promise, bbq sauce is delicious on sweet potatoes.

IMG 1801

And post-movie fuel:  My mom and I split some cake bites!

IMG 1813

Our 4th tradition of the month!  Brooke opened up her new Christmas pajamas.  I like doing this tradition a few weeks before Christmas so that we have plenty of nights for her to wear them before the 25th.

IMG 0152

While I am writing this post I turned on a Christmas movie… who can name the movie?

PS this is random but I seriously love reading from The Gifts Of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are.  My really good running friend gave it to me and It is an incredible book and pretty life-changing.

Just thought I would share these two little parts that I love:

Two things I’m looking forward to are pancakes on a rainy Saturday and yoga on Sunday! A change for me for sure but much needed. Love how into the movie she looks! My 3 year old is still not into the movies.

Reply

Yes!!! Brooke’s face was absolutely adorable.

Reply

Smart popcorn combo! Have you tried the chocolate drizzled kettle corn from TJs? Its amazing. I’m looking forward to finally going to the beach this weekend!

Reply

I bought kiwi crates yesterday for my boyfriends daughters!
I am looking forward to walking a 5k tomorrow. I thought I wouldn’t be able to participate at all after hurting my ankle last weekend but while I am not ready to run yet I can walk it. It’s a walker friendly course. Better than a DNS :)
And Sunday I’m going on a pack hike with my boyfriend, our dogs and some other people and their dogs. Hoping the ankle doesn’t get too taxed but I just can’t miss out. It’s supposed to be a beautiful view at the top :)
I don’t do Xmas Jammie’s. As a matter of fact I mostly just sleep in old tshirts or sweatshirts and yoga pants. Lol.

Reply

The Santa Claus(e)! My favorite Christmas movie! My mom and I saw it in the movie theater the year it came out and every year after until I went to college we would watch it together. I may need to get her to watch it with me again this year!

Two things I’m looking forward to: a 14-miler, my longest run since the marathon two months ago AND date night tonight! :)

Reply

That is so sweet you and your mom would watch your favorite Xmas movie together year after year. What a nice tradition :)

Reply

I’m so tempted to buy my husband and I matching Christmas pajamas. We already have matching ugly Christmas sweaters though.

I am looking forward to sleeping in and watching Christmas movies. I love Elf, It’s A Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Santa Clause (above), Love Actually and the Holiday. So many good ones!!

Split popcorn is the best! Good call!

Reply

I don’t sit still well in the movies. I wish I did. I’m glad you guys had a great time at the movies though.

My favorite Christmas movie? That’s hard! I honestly don’t know, I might choose something cliche like elf.

I don’t have anything planned this weekend anymore sadly. Oh well, that’s life!

Reply

We definitely do Christmas PJs and open them Christmas Eve!

This weekend I am taking my little guy to see Santa and hopefully a movie and skating!

I LOVE Miracle on 34th street and Elf!

Reply

I want to see that penguin movie! I’m penguin obsessed. I’m bummed it isn’t as fun for adults as it is for kids.

Reply

Growing up we were allowed to open one gift on Christmas eve. It was aways our Christmas pjs and we loved it!
This weekend I’m looking to running through the st jude hospital campus during the marathon and im looking forward to seeing the ducks at the Peabody hotel!
Fave Christmas movie: Christmas vacation!

Reply

The Santa Clause 2! I love all of the santa Clause movies but Love Actually is my favorite holiday movie! I am looking forward to going to Orlando this weekend and running a half marathon there!

Reply

looks like Santa Clause 3, watched it last night on tv too! I love all the Santa Clause movies 1-3, especially the original one!

I’m looking forward to sleeping in and maybe going out in the boat (not winter weather in Bahamas yet…) :)

Reply

I’m Excited for a race tomorrow that will be followed up with a run with a friend and then breakfast, and decorating the tree with my husband!!! :):)

I actually have stayed up late two nights in a row watching CHristmas movies….I can’t even turn them off, even the ones i have seen a zillion times, like Home Alone 2!!

PS…if you watch Home ALone 2 on TV—Please note that they REMOVED the twin towers from the airport scene! SO weird!

Reply

I think I’ve been to the movies once in the past two years! Movie theater popcorn would be my last meal if I was on death row. That and Ben & Jerrys.

Reply

My Mom did the Christmas pjs tradition with us growing up!! We opened ours on Christmas Eve after church and then hopped in the car with hot chocolate and went around town looking at Christmas lights. Such a fun tradition!!

Reply

Soooo cute!

I’m loving ur outfit (sweater, jeans, shoes, necklace) in the first pic——where’s it from?!

Reply

I second this! You look adorable. Sources please! :)

Reply

I am looking forward to cleaning my entire apartment this weekend. So lame, so type A but soooooo good. :)

Reply

We always got Christmas Eve pajamas when I was growing up so we would look cute in the Christmas morning pictures :)

I’m looking forward to what is probably going to be a rainy group run on Saturday morning, and a dressy dinner Saturday night!

My favorite Christmas movie is A Muppet Family Christmas. We had a vhs from the 80s (with awesome 80s commercials!) that got recorded over a few years ago. I was devastated, but managed to find someone online who made me a dvd of the show, complete with awesome 80s commercials! I watch it every year. :)

Reply

The Grinch!! The one with Jim Carey! I just feel so good after watching it!

Reply

I love that movie and thankfully my 10 year old nephew has wanted to watch it multiple times for about the past 3 years so I certainly get my fill!! Always makes me laugh & puts me in a great mood.

Reply

My parents still get my sister and I Christmas pajamas! But we don’t get them until Christmas eve. That’s a good idea to give them early so she can wear them for a few weeks!
This weekend I am looking forward to baking Christmas cookies and wrapping presents!

Reply

Haha because you need a pre-movie fuel just in case you hit the wall!

Reply

Yes, we do the Christmas PJ tradition but on Christmas Eve. This tradition was started by my parents for my sister and I. Now that we are grown and have kids of our own, our parents buy PJ’s for my sis and I, our husbands, and our kids! It’s wonderful to pass down traditions!

I LOVE how into the movie Brooke is!! I am half deaf and require captions when watching TV, so unfortunately I don’t enjoy the theater, but it would be so worth it to my son as into the movie as Brooke :-)

I grew up watching the Bells of St. Mary, Holiday Inn, and It’s a White Christmas – all black and white classics, but they are great!

Reply

Ugh I LOVE the Christmas PJ tradition, though my family never did it growing up. It’s definitely something I want to do someday (even though that day is still plenty far in the future) Brooke looks SO freaking cute in hers though!

I’m looking forward to sleeping in and then going for a long run my NEW shoes! I got the neon New Balance 870v3 and they are so snazzy! They’re also super duper light so I’m excited to try them out!

Also I beeelieve you’re watching Santa Clause 2 or 3? Which Santa Clause 1 I think is my favorite Christmas movie. Maybe Home Alone…it’s a tough call.

Reply

No Christmas PJ’s here, if I had enough time in a day we would watch movies! I don’t think I have had time to watch a movie in months!!! Wish I could though, I really love Christmas movies! They always make me happy!

I am running a 10k in the morning at a Christmas Tree Farm!!! So I get to run and pick out our tree all at the same time!

Reply

I miss the movies – Max usually doesn’t sit through them so we never go. I am going to see hunger games next weekend when my parents are in town – although my Mom is coming to the movies too (Grandpa is babysitting – he thinks the hunger games is something about fighting for pizza).

I do like Christmas PJ’s! Who doesn’t like new PJ’s?

Reply

Ha ha my dad would probably assume the same. Funny!

Reply

The look on her face in that picture from the movie theater… priceless!

We did the pj tradition when I was young(er). My mom would actually give my sister & I new pj sets even after we had graduated college, but she hasn’t for a few years now. It’s a great idea, especially when kids are young! There are so many cute holiday themed pjs!

Two things I’m looking forward to this weekend? Running in warm-ish weather(!!) and putting up Christmas lights on our house for the first time!

Reply

I ran today! First time since my injury in January and it felt so good. Think I’m going to treat myself with a movie this weekend. Hunger Games!

Reply

I’ll be home for Christmas is the movie in our house!

Reply

Love the Santa Clause movies! I have only ever seen the first one, I think, but love it!

You see way more movies than me so what have you seen recently that you recommend?!

Reply

We’ve never done pj’s but I think it’s the most genius thing ever ever to open them early!! You’re the first person I’ve heard do it that way. Now she can wear em before she grows out of them ya know?
Favorite movie is Home Alone :) Just a childhood thang.

Have a fun day!!

Reply

I haven’t done the PJ thing, but might start it! (even though I have no kids and I’d be buying PJ’s for myself, still sounds fun!)
Looking forward to a hockey game and a good long run!
My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. “You’ll shoot your eye out kid!” lol

Reply

I had never heard of Christmas pj’s until I met my boyfriend (now husband)! They opened theirs on Christmas Eve. We are doing our first married Christmas together so I may have to get us each a pair to open on Christmas Eve! I am looking forward to finishing up my Christmas shopping and decorating. Favorite movie is probably Elf.

Reply

The Santa Clause 3! I watched it the other night ;) And I love that your theater has 2 types of popcorn – that is my favorite thing about the movies!

Reply

i love that book!!! i’m currently reading it, too. incredible messages.

Reply

My favorite Christmas movies are the Home Alone movies! Did you know there are four of them?! The fourth one isn’t so good though haha :)

Reply

Muppet Christmas Carol and National Lampoon’s Christmas are my two faves! My husband claims Die Hard is his favorite Christmas movie, but in my opinion Die Hard is NOT a Christmas Movie :)

Reply

I love BBQ sauce on my sweet potatoes :-) no one believes me!

Reply

I am looking forward to celebrating my husband’s birthday tonight, and going to a gender reveal party for my CF trainer. My favorite Christmas movies are National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Elf! I love her Christmas pajamas!

Reply

I love bbq sauce on sweet potatoes- especially with avocado in the mix too!

Reply

My absolute fave Christmas movie is ELF!…I could watch this on repeat all day errrry day.

“You did it! Congratulations! World’s best cup of coffee! Great job, everybody! It’s great to be here.”

Reply

Going to the movies is the most expensive nap for me sometimes. :\ I will fall asleep ANYWHERE.

YES to Christmas PJs!

Two things: Putting up the Christmas tree and decorations + With Sophia!

“ELF” — “Smiling is my favorite!”

Reply

I used to make a pizza with BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce and topped with sweet potato chunks and diced fresh ginger root with a sprinkling of parmesan or feta. Yum-o!

Reply

I always buy the xmas pjs for everyone to open on xmas eve and wear that night. The kids love it. In fact, this year my family is staying at our house for xmas and they all decided to buy themselves xmas pjs so they could wear some as well!

Favorite Xmas movies: ah so many to choose from….Elf, Home Alone, The Holiday, It’s a Wonderful Life, Christmas Vacation, Polar Express….I’m also cheesy and like to catch some of the made for TV movies on lifetime or hallmark channel.

This weekend is my middle child’s 8th bday. We are going to see Santa and she wants to go to Build-a-Bear….so it will be her day.

Reply

Jack Frost is by far my favourite Christmas movie! And we STILL do the Christmas Eve pajama tradition :)

Reply

LOVE Brooke’s Christmas PJs!

And I’m SO jealous that your movie theater has kettle corn!! I’d kill for a little sweet and salty popcorn combo at my local place!

My favorite Christmas movies are It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, The Family Stone, Love Actually – OK really, I love all of them! :)

I’m looking forward to my last “long” run before my marathon next weekend!

Reply

Four Christmases is a great movie!

Reply

Ooh, don’t hate me. I have an issue with the perfection quote. We aren’t expected to reach perfection in this life, but we are expected to be continually striving to achieve perfection. Perfection meaning Christlike, not a perfect facade. I wish I could accurately explain my feelings on perfectjon, which is such a misunderstood doctrine in the Christian world, in such a small comment. There is a post on my blog somewhere about perfection. If nothing else ponder why we are expected strive for it when it is impossible to achieve it in mortality and what makes it possible in eternity. Becoming more perfect only enhances and perfects your true eternal personality so you don’t lose anything from yourself as you strive to become more perfect and Christlike.

Reply

Yes to Christmas PJs! I also do them early.
My must see Christmas movies of the season in no particular order: elf, Santa clause, home alone 1&2, it’s a wonderful life, Christmas vacation, Christmas story, 4 Christmases, while you were sleeping, the family stone, the grinch, mickeys Christmas carol, and all the classics (Rudolph, the year w/o Santa, etc) does that answer your question?! Hope I didn’t forget any.

Reply

2 things:
I’m going to West Palm and then I’m going to my cabin in Holopaw. Can’t wait! :)

Reply

My sister and my mom and I wear matching PJ’s every Christmas :)

Reply

I love that book! When you are done with it, if you haven’t read it yet, read Daring Greatly! Also by Brene Brown. The pages would all be highlighter yellow in my copy because it resonated so much.

Reply

ok so that is a Santa Clause movie……..but not the first one, either the 2nd or 3rd one.

My Christmas movie much watch list: The Santa Clause (the first one is my favorite by far!), Home Alone 1 & 2, Muppets: Letters to Santa (hilarious outtakes in this one), It’s a very merry muppet Christmas movie (muppet take on it’s a wonderful life…….and Pepe is beyond hilarious), While you were sleeping (classic Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman (“It looks like he’s leaning” ha!), Christmas Vacation, Just Friends (so funny), and I’ll Be Home for Christmas …..(unfortunately I feel this one gets forgotten too often, but it is JTT in all his glory! And it has Jessica Biel in it too! Don’t leave this one out this year!)

Reply

Random bit of info….JUST FRIENDS was shot in my home town, Regina, Canada. Saw Ryan Reynolds in a pub dancing one night while he was here shooting it. He looks way better in person!

Reply

That popcorn creation is amazing! I wish our movie theater had kettle corn!

The Muppet Christmas Carol is still a classic in our house (I’m 26 and my brothers are 28 and 24). I also love White Christmas! I watch it every year with my mom. I could listen to Bing Crosby all day. And of course, A Christmas Story!

Reply

Seriously love your posts! So sweet how you’re cultivating excitement in brooke for the holidays. Im sure its something she’ll always remember!

Reply

That popcorn divider is a brilliant invention!

I’m looking forward to finalized my last project EVER for grad school and putting up Christmas decorations.

I love reading about your Christmas traditions with Brooke. I can’t wait to do them with my kiddos someday.

Reply

I think every movie theater should do 1/2 and 1/2 popcorn, that is a genius idea and now I’m really craving popcorn :) My family never did the Christmas PJ tradition, but maybe I’ll go out and buy myself a pair ;) My favorite Christmas movie is either The Grinch or The Nightmare Before Christmas! I also love watching the Harry Potter movies around Christmas for whatever reason.

Reply

Santa Clause 3!!! (Or 2?)

Favorite Xmas movies: Home Alone!!!

Love that tradition. Makes TOTAL sense to enjoy Christmas-y gifts ALL DECEMBER LONG, not just Dec. 25th and later!!! :)

Weekend:
#1) My godson’s 1st birthday party!
#2) Volleyball playoffs in my rec league!

Reply

Hahaha! We just watched Santa Clause 2 as well. Only Christmas movies at night inn this house for a while.

Reply

I’m planning on watching It’s A Wonderful Life before Christmas this year. I can’t wait to curl up with some hot chocolate and the city outside.

I like that book; I may have to check it out. I have learned (and am still learning) many of those same ideas in recovery and it’s always nice to have a reminder!

Reply

I love the Santa Clause, that is probably my favorite Christmas movie. I am a Christmas freak, my house gets decorated the day after Halloween and I listen to Christmas music almost all year long. Its such a happy magical time of year!

No kids yet so no Christmas PJs but I have so many traditions I cant wait to start when I have kids and that is one of them.

I am looking forward to swim practice tonight which my husband and I go to then go out to dinner afterwards and call it date night, then tomorrow we have an Alaska Native Crafts Holiday Bazaar to go to!

Happy Holidays!

Reply

Ummmm, you are so right! BBQ sauce on a sweet tator is about the best thing ever. I had one yesterday with shredded chicken and BBQ sauce! I’ve been on a SP kick and I’m pretty sure it’s your fault!

Reply

White Christmas, without a doubt.

Reply

We do Christmas PJs on Christmas Eve! My grandma used to make all of our PJs (handmade nightgowns for the girls!) before she passed away. It’s a great tradition!

My parents are in town this weekend for a wedding of a family friend! Looking forward to eating out and family time.

Favorite Christmas movie of all time is It’s a Wonderful Life. For a funny one Elf is my favorite… or Home Alone.

Reply

My mom is coming to visit me this weekend so we can go Christmas shopping and out to eat! Other than that, a 12 mile run on my schedule…

My favorite Christmas movies are definitely Elf and Home. I also LOVE You’ve Got Mail which has some Christmas parts in it, so that came to mind too.

Reply

How do you get Brooke to sit still for a whole movie? My munchkin is a couple months younger than Brooke and I couldn’t imagine bringing her to a theater, she doesn’t have the attention span to sit still that long.

Reply

I need that popcorn in my life!!

Reply

2 things – My LAST long run before the Honolulu marathon! Then we’re spending the rest of the day on the North Shore/Turtle Bay with a visit to a shrimp truck!

Reply

I’ve never done Christmas jammies, but after seeing this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kjoUjOHjPI) last year, I got my husband on board. I’m so excited! With his work schedule, we don’t go home for Christmas and since it is just us two I like coming up with ways to pretend that I am still 8 years old.

Reply

BBQ sauce is my favorite topping for sweet potatoes!! Yum, so happy to see there is someone else out there who agrees!

Reply

This will be my 11 month old daughters 1st Christmas and you are really encouraging me to start some new Christmas traditions with her!!!
There are two things I am most looking forward to this weekend….the first thing is finally putting up our Christmas tree and decorating the house on Saturday. The second thing is running my first marathon on Sunday!!! (the CIM)…I am SO nervous/excited/ready. Wish me luck!!!!!
Favorite Christmas movie is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, hands down. It makes me laugh out loud every time.

Reply

I’m Catholic, so we celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th. St. Nick always leaves Christmas PJs for each of my four kids. I am saving all of the pairs from Christmases past and own day will have Christmas blankets made for each child (maybe when they go to college or get married).

Loved the Gifts of Imperfection. A friend sent me a copy and said I needed to read it. She was right. I have suffered from chronic twinges of inadequacy for most of my life, and it is time that I as well as every woman out there realizes she is enough and lovely just the way she is. Running, our mothering, the size of our hips, our faces, our careers – none of this defines us or gives us true value. We are human beings not human beings. Sure, it’s admirable and necessary to work at being our best and giving our best, but perfection should never be our goal and even when we fall short of our best, that doesn’t make us any less worthy or lovable. Once a daughter of mine (who apparently takes after her recovering perfectionist mother) was lamenting about how horrible she was. This, of course, broke my heart, and I told her that there was nothing she could do to earn or take away my love for her. It was just given and was not based on her “performance” as my child or as a person. Well, a few weeks later I was not the best mommy to one of my kids and my oldest found me crying. She asked me what was wrong and I was honest with her that I just felt like a lousy mother and felt like I should have handled a situation better. Well, she must have been listening when I spoke to one of her little sisters because she hugged me and then said, “Mommy, there’s nothing you can do to take away my love or to earn it.” I started to weep more fervently but this time out of gratitude for my kids and their big, forgiving hearts! I hope I can raise all of my children to feel whole and like they are always, always enough!

Thanks for your posts. I am no longer much of a runner because of chronic hamstring issues and fai pincer type in my hips, but I still very much enjoy your encouraging and authentic posts and glimpses into your life. Merry Christmas!

Reply

Oh, and we read and watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas every year while my husband puts up our freshly cut tree. Then we sip hot cocoa while we all decorate our tree together as a family.

Reply

And I meant to write we are human beings, not human doings. Sorry for another comment. Mommy brain! ;)

Reply

We don’t currently have a Christmas pj tradition but this may be the year we start one!! Favorite Christmas movies are Christmas story, national lampoons, &Elf (haha!)… Hallmark channel has some good holiday movies too! Could you share some details on those adorable booties in your picture with Brooke??! I love them! You have amazing style… You should do some fashion posts here & there

Reply

I am craving popcorn so bad now since I saw that ingenious bucket you had!

My 2 favorite Christmas movies of all are the Little Drummer Boy and Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer.

Reply

1.) I’m looking forward to wrapping some presents and completing most of my Christmas shopping.

2.) I’m looking forward to cooking a mini Thanksgiving meal on Sunday for my husband and me. We didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving with family this year as we were in New York for work/fun and missed out on some of the good food!

My all-time favorite Christmas movie is “Christmas Vacation.” But I love, love, love oh SO many Christmas movies. It’s my favorite movie season. :)

Reply

2 things I am looking forward to: District orchestra tryouts tomorrow and youth group on Sunday :)

Reply

I love your outfit– those shoes are too cute!

Reply

Love the outfit you wore to the movies!

My daughter has had Xmas pj’s every year. So many Christmas movies it’s hard to choose. I love Christmas Vacation and Elf. And Home Alone is always on this time of year, and I have to watch that, too. Plus, the kid movies I watch with my little one. Snuggling on the couch and watching Xmas movies is the best!

BAHAHAH I LOVE THIS!! Thank you so much for sending this over to me! I hope you are having a fabulous day Mary Ann!

Reply

We did the Christmas PJs off and on while growing up and I always thought that it was fun. I am starting that tradition with my baby girl this year and I’m so excited! Christmas is so much more fun with kids! :)

Reply

such a good idea to the christmas PJs a few weeks early…it’s always kind of awkward when i pull mine out in june and then realize i have months to wait!

loooove ‘the santa claus!’ i was just telling my hubs we need to add that to our list to watch. of course ELF is always a must!

Reply

I love all of the Santa Claus movies! My favorite though is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – I love the cartoon and song at the very beginning, and he is just trying sooooo hard to have a great Christmas with all of the lights and the tree. And Elf, his innocence is awesome. And lately all of those cheesy Hallmark movies, just to get in the spirit, everything always looks so cozy and festive on T.V.

Reply

I love movies (at the movie theater too) but hate the crowds so I usually wait until after it’s been out for a few weeks. Usually…sometimes I make it there opening weekend!
This weekend I am running my 3rd half marathon. I’m very nervous (say a prayer for me). I always get nervous…my pre-race jitters are OUT OF CONTROL!!!!
I’m also looking forward to my running group’s holiday party :)

Reply

2 things i’m looking forward to is decorating my tree and running the Santa Monica Christmas run 10k. its one of my favorite races and i’ve done it 11 years in a row now.

and for holiday movies- the Hallmark Channel runs xmas movies all december. they’re pretty hokey but it gets you in the holiday mood.

Reply

my mom still does the christmas pj tradition with us :)

Reply

My favorite Christmas movie is definitely Christmas Vacation and a close second, Elf.

I LOVE Brene Brown and her book, Gifts of Imperfection! I have read it several times, gifted it to others in my life and also use it in my work as an eating disorder therapist. Can’t say enough good things about her work and its positive impact on people!

Reply

I’m looking forward to running this weekend, and a dinner date with a good girl friend tomorrow!

Reply

Where did you get your cute boots!!!!!! Adorable! Thank you for the reading advice, looks like I need to read that book :)
Have a great weekend janae!

Reply

You are welcome Amanda! They are from Shoe Mint! I hope you are having a great day!

Reply

I keep pretty steady on my Christmas movies. It’s a Wonderful Life is a no brainer, hello. And Love Actually. Both great movies.

I can’t stand barbecue sauce and I can’t believe you would do that to an innocent sweet potato. It hurts, Janae. It really hurts.

Interesting on the popcorn divider situation. My son works at a theatre, I’ll have to ask him about that possibility. He’s a good boy. He’ll do what I want. ;)

I can’t imagine splitting cake bites. They are too delicious. Back away from the goods.

Reply

That’s so funny that you mentioned the sweet potato-bbq sauce combo because I JUST made that discovery myself last night. Delicious!

Reply

I absolutely love watching Love Actually. And of course the classic A Christmas Story plays every year.

Reply

Brene Brown is awesome! She also has a great audio book in Audible – The Power of Vulnerability. I listen to it all the time!

Reply

How do you cook your broccoli? It looks perfect! Two things I’m looking forward to this weekend are Yum Cha with my beautiful Mother-in-Law and shopping in Sydney’s CBD. I haven’t seen Elf – I mean to every Christmas – maybe this year. Two old favourites are Home Alone and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Reply

My mom, Sister and I make matching Christmas PJ bottoms. Last year I was lazy and bought us all matching outfits. :) I really don’t like the tops that go with PJ’s.. I always get too hot.
This weekend my husband is dressing up as Iron Man (yes for realsies) for a girl that has cancer. And I’m excited to watch the 1st Presidency’s Christmas Devotional on tv in my PJ’s! :)

Reply

I like your idea to do the pajamas early! Makes sense! And I wish we had the Disney channel so I could watch all these movies haha :) I love all the hallmark Christmas movies!

Reply

Sweet potato + Costco rotisserie chicken- mixed together and topped with Sweet Baby Rays!! It’s my lunch most days :) Delicious!!!!!

Reply

I do that too! Only I prefer the Weber Molassas BBQ sauce.

Reply

Hi! I love your blog. Also I love your sweater in the picture of Brooke and you at the movies. Where did you get it?

Reply

My favorite Christmas movie is definitely It’s A Wonderful Life. It makes me cry every single time I watch it!

Reply

We do new pj’s on Christmas eve, mainly so we’re all wearing something decent in all those Christmas morning pictures;-)
Favorite Christmas movies: White Christmas, Elf, the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol, Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, and my favorite non-traditional Christmas movies, Gremlins, Die Hard, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Reply

I am reading that book right now too and I love it!

Reply

Four Christmases is my absolute favorite!

Reply

That book sounds like a must read. I’m adding it to my list now! If only I could read faster to get through all the books I want to read!

Reply

Aww she looks so cute in her new pajamas!

Reply

I got those same jammies for my Harlow for her “Christmas Eve Jammies & a Book” tradition this year! :)

Reply

I don’t have a favorite treadmill, but I do have a general area I prefer, and that is in the back. Another knit-picky thing with me is I do not like people flanking me. There must be at least one empty treadmill each side of me! Oh, how quirky I am!
