1. Just testing out the ice to see if we could skate across it with our trail running shoes.
Josse and I hit the trails for 8 easy miles this morning. We savor each of our runs together now that we don’t get to run together every day like we did last year. I have said it many times before, she is my running soul mate.
2. Brooke refuses to listen to Christmas music without her bell in hand. So, basically I get to hear this lovely little bell all day in the car:)
2. I bet you $5 that these never make it into her stocking. I have had a real thing for gummy bears lately and the packaging evens says that grown-ups love them too.
3. A bunch of people asked about where the Christmas leggings are from—> HERE!!!!
4. Megan has even been rocking them on the treadmill:
and this comment about the leggings made my day:
5. Winner of the Brooks Winter Accessories giveaway:
6. The winner of the PRO Compression Giveaway (ps the code HRG14 is still good for 40% off until Christmas) is:
Rachel Bork!!!
7. A bunch of people have been telling me that I NEED to start listening to the SERIAL Podcast! Who else is into SERIAL right now? I think I am going to start listening to it while I run on the treadmill!
8. If you are needing to watch something that will put you in a good mood, this is the movie to watch! I can’t figure out how to put it on the blog but I did put it on Facebook HERE! It explains my feelings towards ice cream perfectly.
9. It seems like Santa is everywhere this year. We see him almost every day around town. As a kid I only ever saw him at the mall when I would wait in line for an hour to sit on his lap.
10. A Christmas tradition from the other day that I forgot to show you! Christmas pancakes using cookie cutters! Just make sure to spray your cookie cutters with Pam to avoid the pancakes sticking to them.

I loved the serial podcast!
I actually got warm on my run…crazy this close to Christmas!
I’m finishing up baking and gift wrap for tomorrow’s run group:)
Brenda
The holiday pancakes is a great idea, I think I’ll do that Christmas morning for the fam! Looks impressive but easy to do!
Sarah @ KS Runner
I keep hearing about the Serial podcast as well. I need to start listening!
That is a really good Santa! Great beard! Though Brooke looks like she’s not having it.
Tonight is a Christmas lights run. And grocery shopping. Bet you can guess which I’m looking forward to more!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
Christmas pancakes are so cool! And I love that you have a “running soul mate” because that it a seriously special person to have!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona
That cookie cutter pancake idea is great!
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog
SERIAL IS LIFE CHANGING! You have to listen to it!!! I binge-listened to the first six episodes when I found out about it! And tomorrow is the LAST episode! I’m excited/a nervous wreck because I don’t know what I’ll do once it’s over.
Tonight I’m making a yummy dinner, then watching a Christmas movie and enjoying hot cocoa while wrapping gifts! I’m genuinely so stinkin’ excited.
Tomorrow will be my first run since a TOUGH marathon this past Sunday, an easy Christmas light run through some fancy neighborhoods and I’m so excited!
Lily
awwwe, cute pancakes. Where is that where Santa held Brooke? That picture is a keeper :)
Amy @ They May Be light
I love the pancake idea! I’m totally going to do that! Thanks for sharing!
My run today was perfect, I’m just always so grateful to be able to run outside in the winter!
What am I up to? I guess I’ll be working on some training for a new thing I’ll be doing!
Brittnee
I LOVE all of your holiday posts! I’m the first to admit, I am a total scrooge :) I like watching others get in the Christmas spirit instead! I know I will change once I have kids. The cookie cutter pancakes are so cute! I will be cold running tonight, it’s right around 20 degrees these past couple evenings when I get out. It’s weird how you feel like your face is freezing off, but yet you are done and sweaty at the same time :)
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
You are very lucky to have a running soulmate. I’m not sure many people could say that! Were you able to skate?
The Hipster Runner
I love those Christmas pancakes!!! I will have to try that!
I felt just right on my run. It was perfect running temperature I barely broke a sweat and I got to wear tights and short sleeve shirt. Perfection.
Tonight my sister and I are going to watch the finale of Survivor and I am making bell pepper and chicken spicy pasta.
chelsea
Awesome pancakes! I could go for some right now…
My run today was cold and rainy…better than icy, I suppose.
Tonight I’m doing an upper body strength workout and then lighting up my Christmas tree and trying some gingerbread that I baked earlier. Can’t wait!
jessica
I love the Rich Roll podcast. :) and really any motivational podcast.. I’ve heard lots about Serial also. I’ll have to give it a try.
Tonight I am just going home and pigging out on cupcakes :)
Amanda @ Slimplify Life
Serial = 6 miles FLY by. So good, you must start listening!
Anna | gone banannas
I just recently got into Serial and it’s so addicting ! Annnnnnd the treadmill is precisely where I listen to it – it helps distract me from the fact that I’m running in place and bathing in everyone’s body heat.
Stephanie @ Sparkles and Sweat
I love Serial! You need to start listening ASAP!
I’m spending my evening on a plane from Miami to NYC.
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
I keep hearing all about Serial! It’s tempting to start although I’m not a huge fan of listening to podcasts while running.
Even though it was 20 degrees out, it felt sooooo good to run outside today! I did wear a bunch of layers to stay warm including two pairs of tights because my legs get so cold so easily.
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I’m totally going to buy those leggings – super cute!! I hate when I’m both hot and cold while running. I feel like my stomach gets hot but my fingers/nose are freezing when it is cold outside, LOL.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff
My friend is obsessed with the Serial podcast.
I didn’t run today but it was in the 50s here in NYC. I wish I could have found the time. Oh well.
Tonight I am wrapping gifts!
Rebecca@Runningfoodbaby
I am always cold on my runs now – hurry up spring!
I am doing nothing tonight – sick 3 year old meant I had zero sleep last night. I might watch some Netflix tonight though….
I have never listened to a podcast…..
Jasmine
Those pancakes are the cutest!! Brooke seems to like Santa, I was always really scared! I remember once at school when I was 8 and “Santa” was coming round to all the classrooms and as soon as I heard his bells, I ran into the bathroom to hide. Was never a fan of him aha :)
It’s freezing here in England at the moment. I can’t run right now due to an injury but I did go for a walk and I was freezing cold, running is way better at keeping me warm:)
Christy
I need to catch up on Serial!
Red leggings get in my closet now!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
Yes! You MUST listen to Serial! It’s incredible! I started listening to episode one on Saturday and by Monday at 5pm I had listened to all 11 episodes!!! I listened to FOUR episodes during my long run on Sunday and the miles just flew by!
Sharisse @ sharissespieces
Wow! All these comments about Serial are pushing me to check it out already! And to know that miles “fly by?” Sign me up!!!
Kristina @ Blog About Running
You have to start listening, Sharisse!!! HAVE TO!
The final episode came out this morning!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi! I do love those leggings. I’m teaching a double header of BODYATTACK and BODYPUMP tonight!
Heather @ Run Eat Play
Love the holiday pancakes! I usually just make snowman out of three pancakes for my kids!
I am on the hunt for an ugly Christmas sweater tonight! I waited too long and all the really ugly ones are gone! :)
Karina
I just may be purchasing these leggings! My favorite podcast is The Chalene Show… I listen to a few episodes on my long runs and the time FLIES by. Thanks for the new podcast rec – love finding new ones!:)
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust
The picture of Brooke in Santa’s arms –> priceless.
Love the leggings –> I don’t think I would be brave enough to sport them on the treadmill.
Christmas cookie cutter pancakes –> Genius.
This evening my hubby and I are headed to a movie. Trying to decide between Birdman, Exodus, or Big Hero 6.
Lauren
Definitely listen to Serial. I am already on episode 6. And makes the miles fly by!!
Dairy free cream of broccoli soup for dinner…haven’t figured out the rest:). That’s my exciting evening!
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola
That is such a cute idea with those cookie cutters! I will have to try it :) I love those leggings.
Sarah
Genius christmas pancake idea! I’ll be making those this weekend for my 2 year old nephew!
Pam
Brooke looks adorable in that precious coat. Don’t eat those Christmas gummy bears, just go to Costco and buy the jumbo bag for yourself! We moved into our new house Saturday so my exercise this week has been unpacking boxes and lots of lifting. And today, my daughter’s boyfriend amused me greatly with this, and I thought you would like it too and maybe your new friend: http://www.werundisney.com/2014/12/how-to-survive-being-in-relationship.html
The Hungry Runner Girl
BAHAHAHA that was amazing… You’re Saturday mornings are already planned. I need to forward this to the man;)
PS you are brilliant about the Costco jumbo bag!
Angela @ North Idaho Runner
Both runs were PERFECT in their own way today and I got to run with MY running soul mate on lunch before she spends almost two months away. Going to miss her so much!
My husband’s holiday work party is tonight.
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
I just started listening to Serial on Monday…. I am addicted. I’ve never listened to a podcast before, but I love true crime and its nice because then I can do other things on my computer and not have to worry about actually watching tv ;)
Leigha @ The Yooper Girl
I’ve never listened to a podcast!! I want to get into them though… it gets old having to buy music for long runs :) don’t even talk about the ice breaking… there are ice fisherman on Lake Michigan behind my house! I’m so scared they’re going to fall through!
Marie @ Marie's Marathon Musings
Serial is incredibly addicting, but the last one comes out tomorrow! I don’t think the new season will be released for another year or so :(
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
I like listening to the Moth Podcast and This American Life. Both have great stories and are great for road trips.
As for my run this morning…I physically ran 10 miles today but mentally I was not there. I was struggling to finish. It was about 40 degrees and I was burning up. It never gets too cold over here in CA but I sweat almost instantly when my feet hit the pavement!
Nona @ RunningHigh
Serial is amazing! I’ve been addicted since it began and I can’t believe tomorrow’s the last episode! It will be GREAT for treadmill running.
Jaime
I love the holiday pancake idea! I am definitely going to try it out.
Becky
I love that I get wonderful ideas from this blog…all the time… :) thanks!
Tomorrow is Thursday and you get to see the Man :)
Linda @ the Fitty
Aren’t those cookie cutter made of plastic? I’m weary of cooking with plastic!
Megan D
I have cookie cutter like that. Just the top is plastic ( the bottom part is metal) so they are easier to cut/press down with.
Amy @ Life to the Full
My run was just right today!
Cookie cutter pancakes are genius. And I need to go find some gummy bears now!
Megan D
I am a little bummed that if I get those leggings it wont’ be in time for Christmas. #FirstWorldProblems
That first baby in the video is everything. The way she is moving her hands so fast with excitement and anticipation. I can totally relate. Being so tired you are unable to finish said ice cream? That is something I can not relate to.
I have heard a lot about that podcast. You will have to tell me what you think about it. Just saying I listened to a podcast makes me feel smart and hip.
I was hot on my run, but I was on my treadmill in my house and that is why. Or is it because I watching Chuck? Hmmmmm.
Just waiting for Annabelle to get home from her singing class so we can eat her bday dinner and open presents. Then she wants to play Phase 10 :)
The Hungry Runner Girl
Definitely because of Chuck. Mmmmmmm! I hope her bday celebration was the best ever. Can’t wait to steal you tomorrow.
Caroline @ The Little Things Blog
I’ve really enjoyed Serial, and I’ve loved talking about it with people! It’s definitely worth a listen to, especially when you’re doing something else! I love making pancakes with cookie cutters!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan
You definitely need to listen to Serial! It’s addicting! Plus, the last episode comes out on Thursday, so you won’t have to wait for new episodes! :)
My run was inside today, so it was a little warm.
Tonight I am watching Love Actually and making Eggnog cookies. Now I have to find someone to give the cookies to so I don’t eat them all in a day.
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse
I love your fun traditions and those leggings are awesome! Tonight my hubby and I are watching Ninja Turtles and eating yummy pizza :)
Angela @ HonestlyAngela
Those leggings are so cute! I am loving all of the christmas fashion that i have been seeing lately! My run was indoors on the treadmill so it was nice and warm☺
LeAnne @ This is my faster!
I ran tonight! I normally run in the morning (which I also did this morning by-the-way).
Flower
My run today was 9 awesome miles.
Tonight I’ve been wrapping presents for like 5 hours because maybe I spoiled some people that I love. :)
Brooke looks so cute with Santa. I’m curious, does she like him or is she unsure? My son was always a bit unsure.
Anonymous
The Christmas traditions are so cute! If those are the sugar-free Haribu gummy bears, watch out…apparently they’re a horrible experience (although this review is good for a laugh http://www.amazon.com/review/R3FTHSH0UNRHOH/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B008JELLCA&nodeID=16310101&store=grocery).
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I started listening to Serial a couple weeks ago and havent had time to listen to it consistently. Im only on the second episode but it is definitely addicting. Check it out!
Love the pancake idea. Id try that except that the only cookie cutters I have are adult themed and might make for interesting pancakes :)
Katie@Run Wild in Alaska
Okay, I think I need to jump on the Serial bandwagon. The treadmill sounds like the perfect place to start.
Tonight I did some Christmas shopping. Nothing too exciting, but I was able to just wear jeans and a fleece – NO coat! In December!!!!
kati
Yes! Listen to Serial! It has made my treadmill time much more enjoyable.
Such a cute idea with the pancakes!
Loribeth
Those gummy bears are the best kind! Esp the green apple ones!
Christa @ Living Unbalanced
I’ve heard so many good things about that podcast! I love Girls Gone WOD and Jillian Michaels has a really good podcast as well – she surprises you.
lindsey b
I just started SERIAL yesterday while running on the ‘mill. I’m hooked. Seriously makes the time go by SO fast.
Jamie
SERIAL IS THE BEST!! I just finished the last episode and going through withdrawals….
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties
I am totally obsessed with Serial! I don’t want to listen to the last episode today because I’m going to be so sad it’s over!! also: brilliant idea with those cookie cutter pancakes!
Allison
I started listening to SERIAL on Tuesday and couldn’t stop. It is really good. Last one is today!
Kristen
I’m completely hooked on Serial. I only let myself listen to it at the gym or while running. I’m 5 episodes in and yesterday’s rest day seriously tested my resolve.
I am definitely making those cookie-cutter pancakes this weekend!
Kate
Last episode of Serial season 1 came out today. I can’t wait to listen but I don’t want it to end!
Kay
Those Christmas pancakes look too cute!
Juliana @ 4 Well Rules
I jus twrapped up listening to Serial on my 12 mile run this morning. It is so good and keeps you distracted while running! I listened to the first 8 or so podcasts on my 20 mile run 3 weeks ago and it made the miles fly by.
Julie
I was obsessed with Serial for about 8 episodes but then it quickly lost steam for me. I guess I’m in the minority or I’m just missing something. I’m sad I didn’t love it as much as the other commenters.
Valerie
A couple of things.
Those gummy bears look yum!
Those pancakes look so fun and festive!
That ice cream video was so great, I shared with my bosses at work :)
You’re super funny re: Santa being everywhere.
Kristin Helle
Hi Janea,
I just ordered 4 pairs of the plaid leggings and gave HRG a huge plug! Hope they send you some free leggings! You have made our Christmas Day run more fun!
Happy holidays to you and that sweet Brookers!
Thea

Wait wait is pretty good too! I was always a music/nothing runner, but since Serial, I love podcasts!
