You will be able to see me, NATIONAL RUNNING SAFETY MONTH and my romantic walks.

First, let’s address that a few people are questioning the fact that I have my Christmas tree up so early.  Don’t worry, I still have 4 pumpkins and a pumpkin scented candle up in my house to cancel out the fact that I have my Christmas tree up about a month too early.

It is National Running Safety Month!

The sun is setting earlier and rising later which means there are more runners out there when it is dark.

WE NEED TO BE SEEN!!!  PS my dad said he saw me out driving around town in this top and he said he could see me a mile away:)

DSC 0823

Brooks Running just did a survey and found that 42% of runners prefer to head out for their run before the sun rises- and 12% prefer to hit the pavement in the evenings!

Some tips for running in the dark (because we are all a little bit crazy and we even love to run before most people wake up or after a long day of work/kids/etc):

-DON’T RISK IT!!  Don’t do anything where you are taking any sort of chance of getting hit by a car!

-Run with somebody!  There is safety in numbers and the larger the group the easier it is for cars to see you!

-Run in lit areas as much as possible.

-Make sure that cars see you!  Don’t just assume that they see you.

-Wear a small light or carry one with you while you run!

-Ditch the tunes when running in the dark.  You need to hear what’s going on around you to avoid any dangerous situations!  Listening to One Direction full blast on your headphones as you are running prevents you from hearing what’s happening around you.

-Wear the right stuff!  Brooks has come out with clothing (Nightlife!) that has strategically placed contrast fabrics, retroflective detail and active lighting to not just increase visibility but also RECOGNITION.  We don’t just want to be seen but we also want to be recognized as a person and not just a sign or something like that!

Look for these things in your gear:

Isn’t it crazy how much easier it is to see the colors that have the borders!?!

Screen Shot 2014 11 10 at 11 23 55 PM

I have been trying out the Nightlife LS and the PureFlow 3s Nightlife.  I love the fabric of the top—>  ridiculously soft (I have even slept in it a few times because it is so soft).  There is also a back pocket on the top and some sweet thumbholes.  YOU WILL BE SEEN in this top (it is hunting season here and so I make sure to wear this when I go trail running too)!  My beloved PureFlow 3s look especially good with all of that reflectivity and they are still as lightweight and comfy as ever!

I tried to position that top so it looks like it is hugging the shoes.  Creativity at its finest.

WINTER MILES BRING SPRING SMILES (thanks Kim for this awesome phrase!!!).

We just can’t get enough of each other.

Brooke has even started to call her Aunt Meg.

We went to Which Wich and I had a club lettuce wrap because Megan raves about these… her taste buds are always right.

My goal for today is to wash my hair.  Just dreaming big over here and reaching for the stars.

After dinner Brooke and I walked across the street to meet up with my good friend Karl to take Brooke to Big Hero 6.  We all loved it.

And no movie is complete without some (or 20 cups) popcorn and diet cokes.

I run in the dark most of the year since I run at 5:30 am mostly! So for me that means a headlamp plus reflective gear. Tips I have are always run facing traffic, wear a lot of reflective stuff plus a headlamp so you can see the ground in front of you! I’ve also been known to strap the headlamp around my torso if it’s really dark and I need a brighter light on the ground.

Reply

I got my headlamp after reading your blog! Life changing and I keep asking myself why it took me so long. Now I can see the road, cars can (hopefully) see me and I can see my Garmin at a quick glance and not have to wait until I venture under a street lamp!!

Reply

That’s awesome! My headlamp is my number 1 necessity for running in the dark, hands down :)

Reply

I don’t run in the dark too often – I just don’t think it’s that safe here in our part of the world. In winter I usually switch my running routine up and run during my lunch breaks as a result – a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right ;)?

Reply

We’ve started to carry a lot of glow material fabric. Myself included,I would rather run in the morning versus evening. It’s always pretty dark (despite having light, etc) I think it’s important to wear as much reflective gear as possible.

Brooke looks like an American Girl Doll!

Reply

I end up running on the treadmill alot this time of year, so maybe only once a week do I go out before it is light outside. But it is SO important to be visible. I know so many people who don’t make any effort to make themselves visible when they are running in the dark and its so frustrating!

I don’t remember the last movie I saw in the theatre. I need to change that! I have been on a popcorn kick lately too!

My mood: Relaxed, content and happy. Good way to start off a Tuesday!

Reply

If I don’t run in the dark, I’m usually dying from the South Florida heat so I try to stick with early am runs. And I choose Buncha Crunch + Popcorn every time. Best combo ever.

Reply

I’ve been running in the dark more and more. I have many little lights that I’ve been wearing, and I’ve also been thinking of wearing a glow stick necklace/bracelet. I also tend to stick to areas with sidewalks when it’s dark!
The last movie I saw in theaters was The Fault In Our Stars.

Reply

I just got done with a quick run before the sun rises because it is a SNOW DAY! My tips.. go slow.

Do you run with your regular shoes in the snow/slush? I hate getting my good shoes all worn out from the water!

Reply

Hahahaha! That meme at the end is killing me!

I really like the yellow reflective top you’re wearing! It might need to buy it (and cut the sleeves off because it’s still so hot here, hah!). As an extra safety measure I leave the backlight of my Garmin on when I’m running in the dark! I think only a few types of Garmins can do this right now, but it’s such a simple little thing to do that might help along with reflective clothing, etc! :)

Reply

I run in the dark occasionally but always in my neighborhood and with so many lights that I look like a running Christmas Tree….I kind of like it. :)

Reply

Weird tip – someone once told me to never verbally say “hello” to people I pass on the trail in the dark. My voice will give away my gender and age (kind of) so a simple wave is best in the scary, dark hours!

Mood: Drinking hot chocolate –> I think a mood is implied with that??

Reply

I love running in the early morning while it’s still dark out. I could use some more reflective clothes though. I just try to stick to sidewalks at this point.

Extremely freaking excited!!! We fly to California tomorrow to head to Disney for the Avengers Half Marathon!

Reply

I’m an early morning runner, so most of my runs are in the dark.
I wear reflective vests and a light or headlamp.
Last movie: Gone Girl with popcorn.
Track workout done!!!

Reply

I don’t run in the dark. For the most part, I wait until the sun just rises or when my son leaves for school – so I am always out there by 7:30 am the latest which works really well for me!

Reply

I can’t even remember the last movie I saw at the theater. Having a baby sure changes things! Thanks for the link to that article. I am planning to start training for my first half marathon and I have been thinking about what gear I will need.

My mood right now is tired – I got woken up early this morning by a sick baby

Reply

I work fairly long days, so I pretty much HAVE to run in the dark in the winter. Except on the weekends of course. But my goal is to either run with a buddy, or always always have someone knowing where I’m running and what time. If I’m running in my neighborhood I just tell my husband I’m going out for X amount of miles, call me if I’m not back by this time.

I usually like sour gummi candy with buttery buttery popcorn during a movie. But it gets SO expensive, so I usually just sneak my own in. ;)

Reply

I’m SO with you on sneaking in your own candy/popcorn ;-)

Reply

FIRST WORKOUT POSTPARTUM!! Those are my three words for today. And…HOORAY!

Reply

WAHOOOOO!!! That is so awesome Brynn!

Reply

I’ve been both an early morning runner as well as an early morning driver and I was SO STRESSED as the driver because I knew to constantly keep my eyes out for runners! Haha – at least I was aware!

Reply

I love Brooks’ nightlife line and wear their stuff all the time. I’m still on pureflow 2s and I think those have a ton of reflectivity too which is awesome.

I have to be at work sooo very early that more
Often than not, during the week it’s either the tmill after work or running outside in the dark after work. I pretty much cry from November-March. (((Sigh)))

I do love that quote and I’m going to try to remember that!!

Reply

I think the nice thing about running in the dark is that no one is looking at you if you run funny:) I still need a decent headlamp since I have become more of a morning runner! One of these days I am going to fall and hurt myself…

Reply

I always run with my dog so that makes me feel a bit safer. I seriously triple check both ways when I cross the street. Awhile back, right near my house, a teacher was hit by a car in an intersection and I always remember that.
I haven’t been to a movie in over 2 years! Maybe someday I’ll go again! Good thing there’s Netflix.

Reply

I am going to be running at dusk/dark every day now with the time change!! I am a popcorn girl, I actually just wrote about this last week!!!
The Croods!
Elated! Best run ever last night!

Reply

Thanks for the list! I passed a girl the other morning wearing all black, no lights and had headphones in! I passed her under a dark bridge and she jumped about a foot into the air I scared her so bad. I told her to please be more careful and aware of her surroundings! I always wear a headlamp, run in well-lit areas I’m familiar with and try to wear bright colors. I’ll have to look into the Brooks gear! Love that shirt!
We just watched “All is Lost” last night. Super intense. I want to see Big Hero 6! Glad you give it a good review!

Reply

I don’t run in the dark that often but when I do I am in bright colors and with my head lamp. No one likes to run early with me and in the evenings I just want to relax. I am finishing up a night shift at work so I am happy (for money coming in), tired (from working 12.5 hours), and excited (it’s my wedding anniversary today!).

Reply

I always run in the morning usually out the door 4:30 am dark or sunny. It’s surprising how many people are out then!

Reply

I also had questions after I saw your tree up – like why isn’t my tree up too?

Reply

I like you!

Reply

I really only run in the dark during overnight relay races. Or maybe a couple early miles when doing long runs with friends that start super early but we are usually in the city where it is well lit and there are sidewalks.

I just saw st. Vincent with Bill Murray. It was great. And yep. I had popcorn although I usually get snowcaps.

I’m in a decent mood. Not really super happy but not sad either. :)

Reply

i had no idea that so many runners like to head out before sunrise! jeez, i’m definitely still in bed until the sun comes up.

Reply

Hah, do neon running shoes count?

Reply

Up at 415 and try to be out the door by 5. I wear a flashing armband and reflective vest over my 357 layers (getting cold in CT). I swear I look like big from A Christmas Story some mornings.
I was debating about taking my son (3 1/2) to see hero 6…he freaks when he sees the ads, but wasn’t sure if it was too old fir him. You think ok?

Reply

WOW!!! Way to get out there so early! HAHAHA to 357 layers and looking like A Christmas Story! The movie was intense… Brooke is super chill and just would turn around and talk to me during the parts with the bad guy but overall she loved it. If he does freak out over the ads then I would probably wait.

Reply

I don’t usually run in the dark but I LOVE all that gear!!

I saw Gone Girl and popcorn is a MUST at the movies!!!

My mood is awesome, excited and happy! I have the day off
with my little guy today :)

Reply

Last movie I saw…….ummm Maleficent? Seriously….

I do have to get a babysitter for the next Hunger Games though!

I never run in the dark – unless it is for a night race

Reply

Since it is dark so early now I have been running on the treadmill to play it safe but I need to venture out and find a well lit trail.

Do they sell those shoe laces separately?

Reply

Let me ask!

Reply

http://www.roadid.com sells reflective laces – $4.99/pair. I’ve transferred them to 3 pairs of running shoes so far. :)

Reply

Where did you get Brooke’s shirt? It is so cute & I am pretty sure my Harlow needs one!

I always get chocolate covered raisins at the movies. Which is rare. The last movie we saw was Sin City 2.

Reply

HEY MONICA!! It is from Gap Baby–> aka where all of my money goes.

Now I am craving chocolate covered raisins at 8 in the morning.

Reply

Thank you!

And… you’re welcome. ;)

Reply

Never run in the dark. Treadmill>running in the dark.
Last movie in a theater was Meet the Mormons. We went out for ice cream after. But why didn’t we eat chocolate during!? Sometimes I question my reasoning.
You put that Christmas tree up as early as you want! I have several friends from the Philippines, and they tell me the Christmas season starts in September. So, according to them, you are actually behind. :)

Reply

I may or may not be a little reckless with my night running. Thanks for the reminder!!!

As for movies? POPCORN POPCORN POPCORN! <3

Reply

As a paper carrier I cannot emphasize enough the importance of reflective gear for runners. To make our deadlines we’re forced to move very fast through neighborhoods. If you’re not wearing the right gear we may not see you until it’s too late. Honestly, it’s more common than you’d think.

Reply

I really don’t love running in the dark unless I’m with someone else. I’m totally a scaredy cat. ;)

Last movie I saw in theaters was Gone Girl (LOVED it, by the way). Can I choose both sweets and popcorn? I’m totally a sweets gal, but there’s something about movie theater popcorn that calls to me.

My mood right now: content mostly, but a little anxious too.

Have an amazing Tuesday, Janae! xo

Reply

Run: All of my runs are done in the dark…early in the morning. (4:00am)

Clothing: I don’t own a lot of reflective clothing (I need to change that) but I am very proactive with traffic and always assume they don’t see me. I get out of their way and never assume they will get out of mine.

Movie: Gone Girl (so good) and popcorn.

Mood: Satisfied and sleepy. Had a strong 10 miler this morning and now I’m at my desk and a little sleepy but drinking coffee so hopefully I can fix that.

Reply

The last movie I saw was The Proposal! Taking it back old school haha. I love eating popcorn and chocolate chips while watching movies. I can’t have the salty without the sweet! :)

Reply

I run (and cycle) in the dark year round because I am up so early. My safety tips: running with my 80 pound lab, stay in well lit areas, run toward traffic and only on roads with a wide shoulder or sidewalk, wear a flashing saucony jacket & a headlamp.

My mood right now is “rest & recovery” I had some cortisone injections yesterday and although they say you can go right back to activity I am laying low. Have been lazing in bed with peppermint tea most of the morning. Happy I can work from home not only for the rest but because the polar vortex hit Colorado (14 degrees and cold, blowing snow….).

Reply

I pretty much always run in the dark, except for race day. I have this vest http://www.runoutlet.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=34752&Click=2504609&subscribe=Y&gclid=CjwKEAiAhIejBRCKm_fTxIWyyXcSJABXY0XYCfnGqnc3FUSS6aq98mKJw-S6YQxNybLMQpqqmZotQBoCUw3w_wcB
My BFF saw me while she was driving and said that if she didn’t know better, she would have thought I was an alien.

We just watched Maleficent with the littles last night, such a good movie.

3 words to describe my mood right now: relaxed, grateful, and amused. My pug is staring at me with her tongue hanging out.

Reply

Last movie we saw was Transformers (not going to recommend that one) but we always have popcorn when we are at home. I can’t stand to pay the prices at the theater.

One word for mood: BLAH.

Reply

love eating chocolate & peanut butter treats at the movies, like peanut butter M&Ms or Trader Joe’s dark chocolate cups.
Or, the last time we smuggled in our treats, we made a salty snack mix with popcorn, pretzels, and Cheez-Its, which was fun for a change since I never eat any of those for some reason!

Reply

I run in the morning, when it’s now pitch black! I’m sure to wear bright colors and reflective gear. That being said, I could always use a new reflective vest. <3

I'm not going to lie: I haven't been to the movie theater in over a year — we saw "Catching Fire". YIKES. Popcorn always, though!

Harry and I watched "Wayne's World" the other night…homage to Chicago and its suburbs.

Ironically confident! :D

Reply

I don’t run in the dark. And my Hus won’t really let me either…something about him worrying…if I had people to run WITH, I probably would run in the dark.
My mood right now? Um, blah, anxious, grazing. Can we tell Aunt Martha to LEAVE?!

Reply

I rarely run in the dark, but if I do it is usually in the morning right before sunrise. I am all about reflective gear and choosing a route that is safe and well lit.

Movie theater popcorn is my vice. I will eat an entire bucket when I go to a movie. The last movie I saw in the theater was Gone Girl. I am hoping to see Interstellar this weekend with the hubby.

Mood right now… relaxed and focused

Reply

I love running in the morning darkness. I can’t remember the last movie I went to see and we are so cheap we usually don’t eat a thing but I do LOVE popcorn. My favorite right now is black and white. It is drizzeled with dark and white chocolate.

Mood right now….depressed can’t run

Reply

I haven’t been to the movies in months! I’m trying to finish the Gone Girl book before seeing that one, but I don’t know if I’ll make it in time. Happy Tuesday!

Reply

This is gonna sound horrible but when I used to run in the dark after work I would actually wear dark clothing so as not to be seen. That way I couldn’t be kidnapped right? I’ve since dropped this habit and embraced all the bright clothing though :)

Reply

Last movie I went to see was Love, Rosie and last movie I watched was The Best Man Holiday!! I actually never get popcorn at the cinema, I usually get sweets. In England we have a pick ‘n’ mix at every cinema and it’s basically all the candy you could possibly have to chose from! 3 words: tired, relieved and happy!

I don’t get home from school in time for it to still be light during the winter, so I don’t have much choice of running in the dark or not! I just bought a ton of bright, neon running clothes but I mostly run in the park, so roads usually aren’t my biggest concern but I still want to be seen by dog walkers etc!!

Reply

That’s good to know that bright colors are better seen when lined in a contrasting color. Thanks so much for sharing that!

Reply

You inspired me to put my tree up on Sunday (well, it was my husband’s idea, but I wasn’t opposed at all)! No ornaments until after thanksgiving is my rule (for now). They’re busy decorating Disneyland, so we should be able to decorate too. My neighbor-amiga stopped by and saw the tree., and she thought we were pretty bonkers, but I know in a good way! :)

I saw “The Judge,” a couple of weeks ago. It was very good. I like to eat some kind of chocolate treat at the movies.

When I was training for my relay race, I ran at night to prepare. Definitely always wore my neon tshirts and reflective vest.

Mood now: anxious (taking my nervous dog to the vet), cozy, and hurried.

Reply

“My goal for today is to wash my hair. Just dreaming big over here and reaching for the stars.”

I literally laughed out loud. Is it bad I have the same goal?!

Reply

I hate running in the cold, I am trying to tough it out but I went outside for a run today and ended up on the treadmill.

I need to look into some of that reflective gear, that is definitely something I have been neglecting.

Reply

I wish I could run in the AM, but my kiddo is too young to stay home alone (aka, while he is still sleeping). Therefore any running in the dark is what ends up being near the end of a run…after a day’s work. It stinks because with this beloved daylight savings time, it cuts about 30-40 minutes off of my available running time (which means a sometimes grumpy mama).

I think the last movie I saw in the theater was….”The Lego Movie”. I know…sad. Movies are just sooooooo expensive (in greater Seattle area) between tickets and getting treats is a MUST! That is all a part of the experience. :)

Last movie watched (with the kiddo) — FROZEN! I love that my 8yo boy will choose this…for his mama…and then he allows me to sing. :)

Current mood…kind of “meh”…almost on the verge of a little grumpy. :/

Reply

Too funny that you went to see that movie… this weekend my mom took my nieces to see it! I hadn’t even heard of that movie before she mentioned it this weekend, hah!

Reply

I’m super jealous of anyone who’s currently able to run in the daylight. I’m either up before the sun comes up to run (my preference) or I run after work when the sun’s already down (stupid winter and its short days). I always run against traffic, wear reflective gear, wear a Road ID, and carry mace. I wish I had more friends to run with in my area (or any at all) and I also wish the streets around my casa were better lit.

Reply

Your “good friend” Karl? LOL! Cute……..

Reply

Last movie Nightcrawler, disturbing and intense! No food, I love popcorn but they wont let me bring my own and the theater kind (I think it must be the “butter”) makes me sick. :(
I love to run in the dark, but I also prefer to run alone so I don’t feel safe doing that all that often so it’s treadmill more than I care to.
My mood today is relaxed and confident.

Reply

I run most of my miles in the dark, and I definitely agree with you on not taking chances. When it’s light out, I don’t think twice about darting across a road with the walk light off, but before sunrise there is NO. WAY. So I run up and down the street like a lunatic instead. :) These are some awesome tips!

Reply

I watched “One Day” with Anne Hathaway, it isn’t new but it’s really good! I like the Boom-Chicka-Pop from Costco!

Reply

I love running at night! I wear a light clipped to my hat and a flashy light armband. I also run in my neighborhood where there are a lot of streetlights and I don’t listen to music!

Also, I’m all for having your Christmas tree up as early as possible. If it were up to me, I’d leave the tree up all year long. But my husband thinks that’s tacky :(

Reply

My Christmas tree and decorations are both up hahaha – I love Christmas!!

Last movie I saw in theaters was Maze Runner… I read the books, so I was pretty pumped about seeing the movie. Chocolate and popcorn are always necessary for movie trips!

Reply

I typically run in the morning and lately its been dark while I am out running. It’s pretty well lit where I run but I still try to wear reflective gear. I never run with music and I am always aware of cars, but I am thinking about getting a light or something anyway just as an extra precaution. I like running along the harbor where there are no cars! I would also love to get the pureflow 3s nightlife:)

Reply

Lisa, a head lamp will change your life! Seriously, I finally got one and was like “why did I wait so long…”

Reply

I LOVE that top! The color is perfect and I think reflective stuff looks so cool.

I never ever run in the dark. My husband would freak out if I did because I always run alone. If I had to run in the dark he would probably run with me and he is NOT a runner. That is dedication!

I don’t even remember the last movie I saw in theaters. I guess that’s what having a baby will do to you! Popcorn is always a MUST during a movie.

Last movie I watched was Fed Up, the new documentary about obesity in America. It was a great documentary – a must watch!

My mood right now: Waiting to go running!

Reply

This is more than 3 words, but husband out of town for business means a bowl of cereal for dinner with a pumpkin pie blizzard for dessert. delish.

Despite the above mentioned I am into salty right now, so popcorn is high on the list………as well as pringles.

Reply

Love your cute reflective gear!! You’re right: it’s SO important!!! The last movie I watched was About Time and I looooooved it! But in theatres, the last movie I saw was Gone Girl. Also amazing. I prefer to bring snacks from home with me.. Shhh don’t tell ;)

xo

Reply

I completely support your Christmas tree. I put mine up the weekend after Halloween every year. My house is totally decorated and after living overseas for several years I believe that thanksgiving holds us back. Other countries start christmas way earlier!

Reply

I recently ran in the morning and it was SO dark. I did wear my orange reflective vest, but I need a light. I do prefer running int eh morning, but honestly its the cold that bugs me more than the darkness….and I live in South Carolina…I know its pathetic, but let me tell you, 47 deg F is COLD!

Also, Brooke is TOO cute!! My son is 2.5 and isn’t it such a FUN age???!!! I am amazed at how much of a little person my son is. I LOVE it! He and I did a PJ stroller run and star gazing…it was epic!

My thoughts for today – nervous. 1/2 marathon on Saturday and my IT band has been giving me trouble for 3 weeks now :/ I don’t like running with pain.

Reply

I wanted to clarify: my son was in PJ’s bundled up in blanket in the stroller while I was in running gear ;-)

Reply

OH NO!! I hope your IT Band gets feeling better asap! Good luck on Saturday and let me know how it goes! And 47 is cold!

Reply

We saw Big Hero Six Sunday night! I loved it. It was adorable!

Mood right now… How is it only Tuesday?? and I need coffee right meow.

Reply

I have a highlighter-yellow half zip just like that, I’ve been told that I literally glow, especially in dawn and dusk light! WHATEVER SAFETY FIRST.

Reply

A shoe question for you! I currently wear Brooks Pure Flow shoes, and am looking for a slightly more cushy shoe with a greater heel/toe drop (pure flows= 4mm) to rotate with those shoes while training for a full marathon in April– any suggestions??

Reply

I like running in the morning and it’s usually still dark. I wear a headlamp and reflective gear. This year while running Ragnar I saw a reflective vest that had red LEDs in it–I am putting that on my Christmas list!

Last movie that I saw was Interstellar. It was meh. I like stopping at a gas station beforehand and sneaking candy in…too cheap to buy it at the theater. :)

Reply

That Brooks shirt is so cute! I saw it the other day on the website and was thinking about ordering it because of how adorable it looked! Good to know it’s super comfy and reflective also!

The last movie I saw was Gone Girl. Can’t wait to see Hunger Games when it comes out! EEEKKK!

Reply

Great tips! I’ve seen some people out running when I’ve had to get to the airport early and you could barely see some of them!!

Reply

I’m usually always running in the dark with my dog. I put the headlamp around his neck so that people see him and me … I have a bright reflective jacket I got in one size up so that I can wear layers underneath it for the winter :)

Reply

I always run in the dark either in the evening or the morning. I have a Brooks jacket that is like a windbreaker…that sucker is neon.

My favorite colors are black and black. So I had to make myself buy actual colors and some with reflectors. I’m still working on it.

Best tip? I’m a city girl at heart so this works in my favor. I run on the busiest streets near my house. Not even side streets. If it’s dark….I go for traffic and traffic lights.

Reply

No tunes at night…that’s a GREAT one… Unless… you are pacing the javelina jundred and can hear packs of coyotes during your night run =). I still wear my Garmin FR310x. Da monster!

Reply

I actually really never run in the dark, because I will usually go to the gym instead. However, my husband has just got a new job where he needs the car (we only have one), which means I might need to exercise in the dark. So these tips were perfect timing!

The last movie we saw at the cinema was Fury. It was pretty intense! Probably 98 / 100 times we go to the movies I will get popcorn.

Right now I am: a bit tired – because I couldn’t exercise this morning, which always makes for a tired day!

Reply

While training for races, I always run in the morning (and in the dark). Now that I’m just running for the heck of it, I’m opting for the treadmill.

Some movie-theater-buttery popcorn would be wonderful right now. That is probably my favorite movie treat, but in moderation. Too much and I feel nasty by the time the movie is done!

My mood right now: Contemplating making popcorn.

Reply

I can’t wait to get my tree up! I love popcorn at the movies, but it is always nice to have something sweet as well :) If it is dark, I run inside, that’s just how it goes for me. Right now my mood is sleepy ha, I need a nap ;)

Reply

I run in the dark three times a week with my big dog and also walk him in the dark many more times. I wear a reflective vest and a headlamp that also has a flashing red light on the back; my dog’s collar has reflective stitching, I have a light made especially for leashes attached, and we go against traffic. When I’m doing a program like C25K I only use one earbud.

And because I’m single and don’t live with any other human beings who would notice if I didn’t return, I also call my dad before I leave and tell him my route and estimated ETA and call him again when I get home. And I carry pepper spray – I’ve never had to use it, and honestly in my community I’m more concerned about random dogs on the loose than 2-legged attackers, but I feel better having it.

Can’t remember the last movie I saw in the theater, I guess it’s been awhile, but it’s always popcorn.

i don’t even need three words for my mood, three letters will do: P-M-S!

I run in the dark a lot, especially during the winter months! I use Knuckle Lights to see the sidewalk and be seen and carry pepper spray just in case. I also run either in my neighborhood or at a local park that has a 3/4 mile loop.

I really want to see Big Hero 6! It looks so cute and I’m a huge fan of both Disney movies and Marvel movies.

Ever since I had my soon I have been avoiding running in the dark. I did it for years and now I just have that sinking feeling of “what if” so if I can’t get my mikes done in the daylight I trek to the gym and do treadmill miles. This is the first year that I have broken sown and got a gym meet ship specifically for this purpose.
I love to smuggle in chocolate covered almonds to the movie theater :) last movie watched was Neighbors last night with my husband.
3 words to describe my mood Blissfully loving fall.

I work nights, so in the winter, my runs are always after the sun goes down. I have a red flashing light that I wear, but I could do better with the reflective gear as well.

Love love that your Christmas tree is up already. I don’t have a tree yet but do have some Christmas decorations up. I just moved back out on my own as well so I have not bought all my decorations yet but I love putting all my Christmas stuff up in November. The decorations are all so beautiful and cheery I love having them up as long as possible!

I’m so lucky to have Audubon Park less than a mile from the house – I can run there entirely on sidewalks or streetcar lines (ok, maybe not totally safe!) and the park is pedestrian only. I’m spoiled!

Every time i run is practically in the dark now cause by the time i am home from work its dark and if i go in the morning its… dark! ha, don’t you love day light savings! the only time its not is weekend runs. I need to work on my safety and get some reflective gear! i do only listen to headphones in 1 ear, and i run mostly where they have street lights so thats a plus.

ps i asked my husband the other day if it was too soon for the tree… he said yes… boo, so i am a little jealous of your tree already being up ;)

I don’t do much running in the dark because I am not a morning person! I usually run after work, and it is getting dark when I finish now, but I usually stay on the pedestrian only trails and in crosswalks so I can be seen.

I saw Ouija the other day……….creepy but good. And I love twizzlers or junior mints for the movies!
