A video, this week’s workout music and I signed up for a race!

Well, Megan wins the nicest person ever award.  She knew that Brooke was having a hard time eating anything because of the sores on her tongue so she brought her over some very cold froyo.

IMG 1015

Froyo always makes everything better.

IMG 1018

And then Brooke sings happy birthday to herself in the bathtub and I show you what happens to me when I am stuck inside all day.

Once it was around Brooke’s bedtime I put her down at my mom’s house and got to go out.

First, Aubergine & Co for a chicken, romaine, spinach, strawberry, edamame, red pepper, zucchini salad with the signature dressing.  I also tried some of the falafel in the other salad and it was amazing.

IMG 1045

And then we saw Interstellar.  Really good but REALLY long.

IMG 1047

I found a reason to be super excited for Thanksgiving (Brooke will be gone with her dad so I wasn’t really looking forward to T-Day this year)!!

I signed up for the Thankful 13 Half Marathon!!  I have heard awesome things about it and that it is a flat and beautiful course.  I am going to run it with friends and enjoy every second!!!

PS Utahns come run it with me and here is a discount code for 20% off—>  HungryRunner

PPS a portion of the proceeds will go to the Community Action Services and Food Bank.

You can register HERE!

No t-day race for me this year since I have a marathon Sunday. I’m also signed up for a half at the end of Jan so I’ll have a reason to get out and train in the cold. My favorite dish is stuffing! And the desserts, I suppose. Going to run an easy 5 with a friend today in this freezing weather we’re having :)

Reply

Brookes santa PJ’s are the cutest thing ever.

Next race I’m doing is a trail half this weekend with the husband (and it’s supposed to rain, joy.) After that we MAY be doing our first 50k in December!

Reply

I’m doing my first EVER thanksgiving race this year with my SIL-a 10k! I would love to do a full or ahalf on thanksgiving…I go home and eat all the food anyway!!

Yay for turkey day races!!

Reply

Died slowly on the treadmill this morning…and only did 5 miles. One of those days.

Fave Turkey Day food = sweet potatoes. om nom nom

Reply

I just signed up to run the Rock N Roll Vegas next year but my next race is a superhero themed half marathon on the 29th.

Favourite Thanksgiving dish is Turkey and LOTS of cranberry sauce!

I have runclub tonight so an easy 5K with them then a group event after :)

Hope Brooke feels better soon!!

You have some amazing friends, what a thoughtful friend! You and Brooke are really blessed!

I wish we had a Thanksgiving Day race around here! It would be a great way to start the day!

I have no races planned right now. It’s a weird feeling.

I think my favorite is mashed potatoes and gravy. I could eat them all day, everyday. When I had surgery on my stomach a few years ago, it was the only thing I was able to eat on Thanksgiving, so its a good thing I liked it!

4 miles on tap today. First time I’ve run in two weeks and first time since my foot has been showing signs of improvement! Fingers crossed!

Reply

Obsessed with Brooke’s pink santa PJs!

I’m running the Orlando 5k turkey trot — a family tradition in which my fiancé and I talk smack all month to each other about who will run it faster :)

Reply

Oh nice that’s coming up soon! How exciting! I signed up for some races, probably a little diner than I should. ;)

I’m glad Brooke is getting better. She looks cute as always.

Reply

I love my moms stuffing!
My next race is a 5k called the Big Chill. The registration fee is bringing an unwrapped new toy. So a child will benefit from my registration. Love that! It’s on 12/6.
I won’t be running on thanksgiving this year but most def will be running the Friday after :)

Reply

Hope Brooke feels better soon!

I’m running a turkey trot this year on Thanksgiving morning. Because I’ll be eating lots of my favorite food….ummmmm TURKEY! Oh and then theres that whole apple fritter thing too!

Reply

I have been looking for a Thanksgiving Day race to run with my girls that is close and cheap :).
I might do an easy 4 miles today…I am easing back into running after my Richmond Marathon!

Reply

I’m looking forward to doing two 5K Turkey Trots, one here in NY and in NH. I’m so excited and I’m hoping to nail at PR at one of them (if not both!).
I am so hooked on Blank Space. That song is basically my love life in a nutshell. It’s so hard to not love Taylor.
My favorite thanksgiving food is my uncle’s sweet potato fries that he covers in homemade maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice!

Reply

haha what does brooke say is her fav food? I couldn’t tell what she said! SO cute :)

Reply

oh! meant to ask! do you have a spotify profile where you upload these playlists? or are they all just on your itunes? would love to follow along!

Reply

HEY!! I need to get on spotify (I have no idea how to use it…). Currently just playlists on iTunes!

Reply

I think I may do a Thanksgiving half that I’ve done the last 2 years, but it’s always a last minute decision! I’m running 7-8 miles with friends this afternoon :)
Favorite Thanksgiving food is definitely a dessert…apple pie or chocolate cake!

Reply

The Boulevard Bolt- 5 miles and so much fun!
Next race- the Flying Monkey Marathon this Sunday…eek!
Fave food- sweet potato casserole
Today’s run- 11 miles of this Sunday’s race course with awesome girlfriends:)

Reply

I am running the family turkey trot. Our own 5K route.

I do not have a favorite thanksgiving food. It seems each year something tastes more delicious then everything else, but there is no rhyme or reason to it. Last year it was green beans, but the year before that it was pumpkin pie.

Reply

Aw, I hope Brooke feels better soon. She is too cute for words.

Reply

I’m running the Five Mile Foot Feast on Thanksgiving morning! After that my next race isn’t scheduled until early March…but something might pop up in between.

My favorite Thanksgiving food is my grandma’s cheesy cauliflower. I look forward to it every year.

Reply

I always say I am going to sign up for a Turkey Trot but fail at this task every year. I did finally sign up for a Jingle 5K for Christmas! I can’t wait!

My next race is a half marathon in just a couple of weeks! Whoo! Can’t wait! I’m doing three half marathons in three months as part of a race series down here in Florida :)

Reply

You look great for being stuck inside for 22 hours! I go stir crazy, too. Glad you got out during the evening:)

Reply

I wish there was a half by me on Thanksgiving! Most of the Turkey Trots are only 5k races and I can’t stand driving for those. I can run longer and happier by my house. I ran 6 miles this morning by myself, unless you count talking on the phone with my friend for three of the miles.

Reply

No race this year, though I will go out for a run in the am. Such a fun idea to do a half marathon on Thanksgiving! Though…does it count as carb-loading if it’s after the race? You’ll certainly earn your pie though!

We’re planning on seeing Interstellar tonight! Can’t wait!

Reply

I’m signed up for a Turkey Trot 10k that I’ll just be running for fun! Favorite Thanksgiving food is probablyyyyyyy green bean casserole. Oh man, so creamy and delicious.

Running 6 miles tonight. Trying to talk my husband into running 2 with me just for fun. Butttt I’ll let you know how successful that is.

Reply

omg I’m laughing so hard at the DESPAIR in your voice whilst talking about eating half a Costco-sized bag of Skinny Pop.

And I’m only laughing that hard because I’ve so done that.:D

TURKEY TROT 10K in Frisco, Texas, woot!

Favorite Thanksgiving foodie might have to be sweet potato casserole. Mmmmhmmm.

Running today: With the group this evening at the track!

Reply

I’m considering running a Thanksgiving race, but I wouldn’t do longer than a 5k. Gotta save my legs for marathon training.
Next race I am signed up for is the Hot Chocolate 15k in Nashville in February. It’ll be my first 15k and I’m pumped!
Pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin! And maybe mashed potatoes. Yum!
Will be running tomorrow. Hopefully going 3 miles and just by myself. My favorite alone time :)

Reply

Stuffing! I’m SO looking forward to stuffing! It is one thing I only have once a year, and last year I couldn’t have any because I was nursing a dairy-allergy baby and it had butter in it! Bring it on!

Reply

You really are so lucky to have such a great group of friends! As people getting older and have families, people tend to drift apart. It’s nice to see you guys are not like that and running has kept you bonded.

Reply

I want to run the turkey trot 10K this year, there is one in Cottonwood heights that I am really excited about!

Reply

Hahahaha the video! She is so cute!

Reply

My goal is to as well as you in life. You’ve clearly got your priorities straight: Brooke + popcorn.

Reply

Brooke is so cute! I like the part where she says miss you and puckers up a kiss! I’m running the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. It’s a tradition I started last year and love participating in!

Sweet potato casserole is my fav!

Reply

My 1 year old was sick with a horrible virus a month ago, we stayed home for 5 days straight, but the cuddles are the best!

I love your vids you should do more! Have you ever tried the app Clipter, it’s amazing for easily pieces together video clips from your phone. I use it to combine all my memories of my son into a short story! Neat, eh!

I’m hoping to run today, on my treadmill :)

Reply

Thanks for the mention Martina!

Janae, did you have a chance to try out Clipter? It would be a pretty fun way to put together quick videos like this one.

Reply

That video is the cutest. I hope she is feeling better today. Poor girl. Milk duds are delicious. I may or may not have stolen all of my kids from their Halloween basket (answer: may).

I ran a super easy 5 this morning before the kids got up. Anna left for school, gotta get evan ready and then when Felicity takes her nap, it will be time for legs.
I would love to run that race with you guys, but I am not sure it would be the smartest idea for me. Why is being smart so hard? and lame? My favorite tday food is stuffing. mmmmmm.

Well I now I know what the video was you sent me. I can sleep better tonight. Also, it says SkinnyPop on the bag so I always thought that the MORE you ate, the skinnier you got, which is why I always eat an entire bag when I buy it #logic #gobigorgohome

Reply

I am running the Thankful 13 too! But only the 5k this time.
My favorite thanksgiving food is stuffing. And yams. And pie. Basically anything besides the turkey. And I like when it’s my family’s year better.
And I’m thinking 5 lonely miles today:)

Reply

i did 3 easy miles today — first little run after my marathon over the weekend! hope brooke feels better!

Reply

I am running a Thanksgiving Day race called I Like Pie. The registration fee is 5lbs of food, which goes to Neighbor Impact, and you are also encouraged to bring a pie which everyone eats after they finish. They have 5k, 10k, and 10 mile distances. Great cause and great way to start the day.

The next big race I am signed up for is the California International Marathon… less than three weeks!!!

I woke up with a sore throat this morning, so my track workout may have to be postponed until tomorrow. Better safe than sorry!

Reply

I am signing up for a half on February 7 to prevent myself from turning into a *total* hermit crab over Christmas break. I will definitely be adding some of your spin songs to my running playlist. :)

Reply

I LOVE cornbread on Thanksgiving – I prefer it on the sweeter (read: cake-like) side.

Reply

Hope Brooke is better soon! That video was funny.

No thanksgiving race for me as I’m cooking the turkey and stuffing. I will, however, get my butt up early and go for a run before i need to start all the cooking.

My next race is either Dec 13 I’m doing a half with my sister (her first!) or I’m toying with the idea of this nearby trail half on Dec 6.

Today’s run will be on the treadmill. But I don’t mind, I’ll put on some Netflix, maybe watch a corny Christmas movie! Lol

Reply

Fro-yo is definitely the answer for everything!!

Reply

That was so nice of your friend Megan! I am also obsessed with Blank Space! It’s the first cd I have purchased in forever. At first listen I didn’t like the album but now I play the entire thing straight through on repeat. I always love your playlists :) Thank you for sharing!

Reply

For some reason I can’t get into Blank spaces ! Not sure what to think of the video.

First of all- Most precious video ever!!! My guys have had that virus a million times and it breaks my heart every time. I wish I could take it away and make it all better. Hang in there!

Secondly- I just signed up for the Utah Human Race on T-giving. I seriously can’t wait! I’m gonna earn that Mac and Cheese!

Reply

yummy your blog always makes me crave froyo!! haha but it’s so cold out #thestruggle

Reply

I’m visiting San Diego and doing the Coronado 5K on Thanksgiving with my husband and his family!

Reply

I’m running the Gobbler 10k in St. George with my son and daughter on Thanksgiving!! This is our first time for this race.

Reply

Yay! I’m glad you have something to get excited about on Thanksgiving. I’m doing the Hill Country 15k this weekend so I’m going to take it easy on turkey day even though I considered doing the Atlanta Half Marathon. Also, what are you cooking for Thanksgiving?

Reply

I woke up so sick last night so my morning run had to be cancelled. I am running a small 5k for Christmas but really my next race is in January. Training is going slow since I keep having foot/heel pain and now being sick is going to derail me. Bummer.

Reply

I’m happy to see that someone else is just as obsessed with the new Taylor Swift song as I am!

Reply

I love that you are doing something awesome for YOU on Thanksgiving despite your baby girl being gone. I think one of the hardest parts about having a split home is not having your kiddo(s) with you at every holiday.

My next race is in March. The HOT CHOCOLATE 15K!!! You should find one! RAM Racing Series organizes them…very well put together…love the swag. Starting in 2015, they are giving medals to the 15k finishers that looks like a chocolate bar. : )

Favorite Thanksgiving food? — Aside from the turkey (duh!!), my favorite has become the pumpkin cheesecake I started making a few years ago…and homemade cranberry relish. YUMMMMM!!!!!

Run for me after work. Only 5ish miles. I always run by myself…I really need to change that. :/

Reply

I loved the video. I can’t believe Brooke speaks now. I remember when she was just a newborn!

Your super serious confessional made me laugh :)

Reply

I’m so glad you have a reason to be excited for Thanksgiving now!!

And how adorable is Brooke with her froyo! I hope she feels better!

Reply

I’m running a 5 mile race on Thanksgiving. More pie that way! :)

I think my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is that I don’t have to have a favorite food! I love all the options!

I’ll probably hit the treadmill for a few miles today.

Reply

I would love to run that half! So glad you found it. (I’ll be running, just nothing organized).

Your video(s) were adorable. Don’t feel bad about the popcorn. I can eat a half a bag of that under the best of circumstances.

Hope Brooke’s feeling better!

Reply

My next race is Honolulu Marathon on December 14th, so no Thanksgiving Day race for me. I’m sure I’ll do something, though!

Favorite Thanksgiving food this year will have to be pumpkin pie because I’m in the middle of my “no desserts for a month marathon countdown.” I am making an exception for Thanksgiving!

Cross trained today – 12.5 miles on the mountain bike.

Love Brooke’s kiss! Hope she’s feeling better soon!

Reply

holy crap your video was hilarious

Reply

I totally ate half a bag of Skinny Pop yesterday. That stuff is straight up crack.

Reply

My family and I are doing a 4-mile Turkey Trot. I love races on Thanksgiving but it’s supposed to snow this year! Bummer :(
No run for me today. Instead I went to my third ever spin class and I think a new love has been born :)

Reply

You are so cute and funny! Get better soon Brooke!

Reply

Nothing on Thanksgiving, but I am still trying to decide whether to run a half marathon on Sunday. It’s supposed to be rainy, so I’ll decide day of (crazy, I know).

And my favorite Thanksgiving food is pimento cheese on crackers!

Reply

I love when you post play-lists! I’m over here in England and I don’t get a lot of exposure to the new music (Radio 1 here has a lot of “talk” programming in the middle of the day when I am sans kiddos and could listen to my music!), so I always give a listen to the songs on your list and have added a few to my running roster. Can I recommend “On Top of The World” by Greek Fire (from “Big Hero 6”)– it’s my current sprint-song. I was going to suggest popsicles for your little girls with the owie mouth– that was always my Rx for patients that had that happen. Hope she’s better soon!

Reply

We do a family Thanksgiving 5K every year. It is fun to get out with everyone!

Reply

I am doing a double run on Thanksgiving-a 5k then a 10k at the LA Turkey Trot downtown. It will be day 3(3 then 4 then 10 then 23) of a 4 day running simulation of Dopey training (5k, 10k, half and full back to back)

Reply

That was so sweet of your friend to bring Brooke froyo! Love her birthday song, too. Have a wonderful turkey-day race!

I ran 3.25 miles with our dog this morning. Windy and snowy, but 20 degrees (+) actually felt pretty good today. No plans for a Thanksgiving race, but I may have to arrange a group run with my siblings and sibling-in-laws!

Reply

We have an unofficial pie run with our track club here in town that we do each year on T-Day. We can run as far as we like, we normally do a 10K and then eat pie with some awesome people.

The next race I’m signed up for is the Heavenly Half near Shaver Lake, Ca. It’s gorgeous and downhill.

My fav T-day food is a turkey, stuffing, cranberry sandwich :)

Reply

5k Turkey Trot in Ft Lauderdale :) then stuffing myself afterwards!!

Reply

The video was super cute I really miss moments like that. I hope Brooke feels better soon. I’m just randomly curious – are the princesses and rubber ducky in trouble so they are facing the wall or was it just pure luck?

Reply

BAHAHA I love that you noticed that. She ALWAYS puts them like that. I don’t know why.. maybe for modesty reasons;) I hope you are having a great day!

Reply

Yum, that dinner looks delicious!

Reply

I’m beyond obsessed with Blank Space too!! I really like her new album, Shake it Off too, although that’s becoming a little overplayed on the radio lately.

Reply

I’m doing a 5 mile Turkey Trot in Wisconsin. It’s already cold and snowy and icy here, but I’ve done it the past 5 years in a row with my husband, so I’ll be there. I’m expecting a PW since I’m rebuilding after an injury, but I guess I’m just happy to run at all. If im really not feeling it, I’ll drop down to the 2 miler and take my dog. :-)

Reply

Ohhh I wish I could run the half with you but I will be in the Bay Area for thanksgiving! Darn it.

I’m not doing a Thanksgiving race but I will do my own “turkey trot” – 3.1 miles on the beach! We are staying at a beach house for the holiday so I am pretty excited. I’m hoping I can get my in-laws pumped enough to run with me!

I’m doing the Utah Santa Run in SLC on Saturday!

My favorite Thanksgiving food is definitely the mashed potatoes or pie. Any kind.

I’m going to attempt a tempo run today (with Baby J in the stroller) but I may have pulled a muscle in my thigh on Monday so if it hurts I’ll stop!

Reply

That video of Brooke was the cutest thing ever! And I don’t blame you at all for eating half that bag after being stuck inside for so long!
A Thanksgiving race sounds like the perfect way to spend the holiday! I will have just done a marathon the Sunday before so no races for me this year:)

Reply

Cranberry sauce and stuffing are definitely my two favorites on Thanksgiving.

Reply

Oh fun! I hope you enjoy the race! I will be in Vernal and haven’t even thought to look for races. I need to check it out!

Reply

I ran the Thankful 13 last year and LOVED it…I am sad I have to work this year (hospitals never close) and can’t run it. I’m hoping to find a shorter 5K up here in Ogden to run that morning before I head into work though…

Reply

Oh my gosh! Silliest video ever. There is nothing better than the adorable sound of a small kiddo’s voice! Glad you were able to get out of ‘house arrest’ after Brooke went down!

Reply

I hope Brooke feels better. It sounds like she’s having a rough time. I’m sorry!

I’m running a Thanksgiving 5k and volunteering beforehand. I’m so excited! Also, that salad looks amazing!!!

Reply

That video is hilarious! I literally laughed out loud!! haha!

Reply

Weird I had a post from the last time I went to the movies and also took a picture of me and Milk Duds. Theyre so good, but I usually end up finishing the box before the movie even starts!

Reply

Don’t know if you’ve tried it before, but I put my Milk Duds in the popcorn…brings it to another level! Next race: Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving.
