Just the normal Sunday activities of getting Brooke all dressed and ready first thing in the morning and me staying in my pajamas until 4 minutes before church starts.  Not a lot better than lazy Sunday mornings.  PS I only wash my hair on days that I know I can just let it air dry.  I think that blowdrying my hair is the most boring activity in the world.

For dinner we went up to my aunt’s house and Brooke learned some new skills.

DSC 0549

My aunt made the most amazing carne asada tacos and mashed potatoes (in the back behind the tortilla)… I am thankful that my family is just as random as I am.

DSC 0563

The apple fritter cake won everyone’s hearts.  It was gone within 5 minutes flat.  I highly recommend it.

DSC 0566

My dad is allergic to eggs so whenever I am in charge of dessert I try to find something that is eggless that I can bring… these chewy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies were also a hit.

My sister is having a BBBBBOOOOYYYYYY!!! It is a good thing because her son has been praying since the day she got remarried that he would get a little brother:)

IMG 7592

And here is a ridiculsouly random video featuring:

-A few scenes from last night (including me rapping Jay-Z lyrics ((I need some more practice)) because Brooke loves it when I do that)

-Brooke and her animal noises and telling my sister she is going to be a runner.

Okay, just three more things that I feel the need to tell you.

1.  It all makes sense;)

IMG 8661

2.  I have had a bunch of people ask me where I got my journal—> You can get it HERE!!! I kind of want the Mom’s one too!

IMG 8713

3.  I am very grateful for emojis because they really help me and my sister to express ourselves more clearly.

I think Jay-Z may call you after hearing your vocals?? Next single, featuring HRG.

$100 to Whole Foods so I could not feel guilty buying all the expensive goodness that is that store.

Did a 14 miler yesterday so no running for me this morning.

My taper craziness has already begun. It is the scariest part, but I am sure you will do well! Right now I am focusing on visualizing coming across that line, absolutely over the moon, knowing I have destroyed my 2:49!

I would want $100 to Target………….I love that place!

And this weekend in my hometown we hosted our first Ironman competition! Ironman Chattanooga…………the award ceremony is today! The bike course was supposedly 4 miles longer than normal bc of traffic issues, so Chattanooga Ironman was one of the longest ever!

Love the video! Congrats to your sister! I bet her son is really excited to not be the only boy anymore! I know my nephew kept telling everyone he thought my SIL was having a boy (he was right 1 of 2 times) and that he wanted it to be a boy.

$100 gift card – Lululemon or Oiselle. Pretty much any kind of running apparel would be good.

My niece is allergic to eggs too. It can be hard to find good egg-less recipes!

Enjoy your time relaxing before the race! It’ll be here, and you’ll rock it, before you know it! :)

Reply

That’s so exciting for your sister! Congrats to her!

I know you will do really well this weekend Janae. I cannot wait to see how well.

My highlight of the weekend is just staying busy. I enjoyed my weekend, despite nothing really that exciting happening.

Reply

Athleta would be my choice, but it wouldny go far unfortunately with only $100.

Reply

Loved the video. Many blessings to your sister & family. No workout for me today. Mondays are my rest days! I would want $100 to Eagle Creek because I am going to purchase a travel backpack for my yoga retreat in Mexico. Have a wonderful day.

Reply

Today is rest day ! Yay. Best part of this weekend was apple picking with my nephew. The farm also had a small petting zoo and it was fun seeing him get all excited over the animals. I also had my first apple fritter. It was good but I think I preferred the warm cider donuts – they were amazing.

My workout today was taking the dogs on a really long walk.

My highlight of the weekend was catching a 19″ Redfish! Holla.

And, while 100 bucks is 100 bucks it’s still not a lot at some of my favorite stores, so I’d choose a store where I could get more bang for my 100 dollah buck and that would be 6pm.com, they have tons of stuff and it’s really affordable.

Reply

A little boy to melt your Aunt heart. Congrats.
(Kind of makes me want to find out, not going to lie)

Reply

I think I would want the gift card to Lulu Lemon at the moment. I need another pair of my fave run insire II crops and some new tops for the upcoming winter season!

What I like about your family is that you relax a lot, you know on sofas and everything. Exactly like mine :)

Reply

That is so exciting that she is having a boy. Congratulations to her!

This past weekend, we went to my grandmother’s to celebrate her birthday. Lots of cake = awesome.

Reply

I skipped the long run this weekend so I did a fast(er) 6 miles this morning before work. I have a 1/2 this weekend, so nothing too crazy this week either.

Highlight of my weekend was watching both of my munchkins play school sports (flag football & volleyball).

If I had a $100 gift card right now, I would want it to be for Target. I could live at that place.

Reply

My Monday workout is a deep water cardio class. Still healing a stress fracture in my ankle, so nothing high impact. So sad.

Weekend highlight – brunch with a bestie!

Gift card: lame-o, but I would pick Lowes or some other home improvement store right now. In the middle of a big, expensive renovation project.

Reply

Tell me about your stress fracture.

Reply

It happened around Aug. 15, but I think I was working up to it for a while. Did a really strenuous (read: too much for me) 18 mi, 8 hour hike in mid-July. I was also training for a 10k. In the weeks following the hike, I started having some serious back pain (later diagnosed as SI joint strain). Then on 8/15, I finished a 5 mi run, and at the end my ankle was throbbing. I could barely walk home, and it became incredibly swollen. I didn’t have any memorable injury like rolling it or tripping. Just out of nowhere. Went to the doc, got x-rays, and nothing showed up. He said he’s 90% sure it’s a stress fracture b/c the pain is concentrated over the bone (on the outside, pinkie toe side). Would need an MRI to confirm, but not interested in spending money on that right now. Based on his guidance and my research, all I can do is rest it. It’s still sore and mildly swollen. That’s what I know.

Monday workout is a spin class at Monster Cycle in NYC, reviewing it for my blog!
Weekend highlight- exploring with my mom who as in town

Gift Card: Athleta- they have the best stuff right now!

Reply

Emojiis are awesome! Congrats to your sister! What exciting news!

Reply

No vicarious workout through me today- it’s a rest day.

I had a crazy busy weekend but I think the highlight was snuggling on the couch with my kiddo, watching Doctor Who.

Gift card: probably Target. I have a little Target problem. It doesn’t help that it’s the closest store to my house. Imagine that your neighborhood convenience store was Target. Yeah, trouble.

Reply

I have that journal too- only mine is blue! I love it, I’m 2 and 1/2 years in and I am so glad I mad it a daily habit, because I wanted to journal but this keeps me from feeling like I need to write pages upon pages. Just a quick check in about what I did that day or how I was feeling!

Reply

I am getting a massage today to help with a calf issue before my half on Sunday. It’s a taper week for me.
Most fun was sitting on an outside patio overlooking the Mississippi River with my husband with no real agenda.
I would like a gift card to our local running store, Missouri Running Company, so that I could buy something for my running habit.

Reply

I want pumpkin cookies.

Reply

I have the Mom Journal and love it! I started it the day my daughter was born and now that she’s a little over a year old, it’s so exciting to look back and see what milestone we hit a year ago. It’s humbling to think of how much she’s grown and taught me in the last year.

Reply

I have a rest day and dinner with friends, yesterday was race day.
The highlight of my weekend was taking 2nd in my AG for a local triathlon! (and right after that the Packers destroyed the Bears!! another highlight)

My workout this morning was 4 really easy miles. I needed an easy day after a tough 18 on Saturday!
Congrats to your sister!

Reply

I had a lot of highlights this weekend! Pirate 5k (you’d better believe my baby and I dressed up like pirates!), shopping for a new wardrobe for my 18 month old, very rare date night, and a 2nd birthday party for my daughter’s friend, complete with a bounce house that she LOVED! Such a good weekend!!!

Reply

Oh my goodness!! That onsie is adorable. Congrats to your sissy and family. The highlight of my weekend was placing 3rd overall female at a 10 mile trail race! Very unexpected but an awesome confidence boost going into my marathon taper.
I would love a $100 gift card to either Brooks or Oiselle right now. I am in need of some new fall/winter running clothes.

Reply

Congrats to your sister! Such exciting news! I would choose a $100 gift card to where else…Target! Good luck at the marathon…you can do it!!

Reply

Congratulations to your sister and family! Today is a rest day for me and I’ll be taking it easy this week too with the Portland Marathon on Sunday. If I had a gift card it would have to go toward a new pair of running shoes at Brooks!

Reply

Ohhh I love that journal! I’m such a sucker for a cute place to write :)

Awww I love it! “Are you going to be a runner?” YES! haha smart girl ;) I need to make that apple fritter cake! And if I could win a gift card, it’d be to Nordstrom because I neeeeed more shoes! (Need? Want? Same diff)

WORKOUT: just walking trying to get this baby out! (I’m 39 weeks 3 days with baby #6!)
WEEKEND HIGHLIGHT: sleep.
$100 gift card: Target =)

Reply

Hoping to get on the treadmill today. But colicky baby = today could just be an arm workout day with holding her. :)

I would choose $100 from Walmart because I’m boring and practical.

Yay for another boy! And I totally agree with blow drying hair. It’s one of my least favorite things. However, on days when it is necessary I find that reading while blow drying really helps me out.

Reply

This weekend was so much fun it’s hard to pick just one highlight!! I raced a 10K on Saturday morning and went to brunch after and yesterday my husband and I had an impromptu date night on the way to the airport to pick up my parents. I’m pooped but it was a great weekend! :)

That’s so exciting that your sister is having a boy! :D

Reply

Oh man, that Brookers is TOO cute!!

A huge congratulations to your sister! How exciting. :)

Workout today: teaching a BodyPump class tonight. Highlight of my weekend: Hunter meeting my grandpa for the first time. If I could choose a $100 gift card to anywhere, it’d be: Target. Happy new week!

I think I would choose Lululemon for the gift card. I never buy anything there since it is a little pricey – but I love it! I am planning on doing an upper body strength training workout followed by some HI IT.

Congrats to your sister!

Reply

Highlight of the weekend: Greek food festival across the street from my job (because I had to work all weekend). The baklava was amazing!!

Reply

Yay for a baby boy!!! Brooke is going to have so much fun with a new baby cousin!

Highlight of the weekend: surviving the half marathon. I didn’t run a PR, but I ran until I had nothing left :) Plus, I didn’t trip in the homestretch. I’m always paranoid of wiping out right in front of the finish line…

Reply

Heading out for a 9 miler to start my 63 mile week!
Highlight of the weekend was having froyo on sat night with hubby ( I know boring right? Lol!
A gift card to road runner sports!
Have a great week of tapering & carb loading! :)

Reply

HUGE congrats to your sister! Also I 100% understand you on the blow-dryer – I think I have done it a total of twice in my life and only because the alternative was literally going to a wedding looking like a drowned rat. Not cute. ;)

GOOD LUCK on your marathon! You will obviously kill it!

Reply

I cannot tell you how much I agree with the blowdrying thing. Why would I want to waste a half hour to an hour drying my hair every time I shower. Not worth it. Id rather be sleeping. haha

Congratulations to your sister! What a blessing!

I would want a $100 giftcard to either Sephora or for Altra Running Footwear! A girl can never have enough make-up or running shoes :)

Reply

Congrats to your sister!

I am still recovering from my half marathon this past weekend, so my workout today will be walking the dog. Sounds thrilling doesn’t it ;)

The highlight of my weekend was the half marathon I ran! It was awesome to see so many women conquering Nashville’s hills.

I would LOVE a $100 gift card to Brooks. I really need a winter running jacket before it actually gets cold, but they are just so darn expensive!

Reply

Adorable video!!!! :)
Good luck on your marathon! And I love emojis! My friend and I send them to each other all the time!!!

Reply

Hahaha love that video!! And emojis too, I use them ALL the frigging time.
My workout today was a run/crossfit style WOD in the park. Accept I kinda went splat on the pavement on the way there, cue a rather bloody hole in my knee and my new favourite water bottle :'( heartbroken. Still, I still managed to get my workout in even if it did kinda suck!

Reply

I did a few circuit workouts from Pinterest this morning, nice change from the Jillian Michaels dvds that I always do! The best part of my weekend was doing the Color Run yesterday, so much fun and the atmosphere was amazing!! Since I’m saving for a new laptop, I would say an Apple gift card would be pretty sweet right now :)

Reply

Could you come over and live with me and be my nanny? There’s just not enough of me to go around to do everything, especially bake an Apple fritter cake!

Reply

my family is really random with food, too! my grandma has made enchiladas and potato salads for family birthday dinners several times. those two foods might not go together, but they’re both delicious :)

i’d probably choose a $100 giftcard to whole foods or amazon!

Reply

I will be running this afternoon after work (as long as it does not rain too hard). Or yoga…or BOTH!! : )

My weekend highlight was an unplanned get together with the guy I have been dating. :) Sometimes it is the simple things in life.

Tough to choose just one place for the gift card. Probably Banana Republic or Target (opposite ends of the spectrum, I know).

Reply

My workout was a little over 3 miles this morning, and it felt good :) I am going to live vicariously through you when you run your marathon! You are amazing girl :) Hmm if I had $100 gift card I would want it to be to Ikea because I am in dire need of a rug for my living room!

Reply

I am taking the week off from running. *gasps*

If I had a $100 gift card I would want it to be from Lululemon!

Reply

Congrats to your sister on her baby boy! That will be lots of fun for the whole fam, I’m sure. :)

My workout today was 2 strength circuits. It was not as hard as I thought…can’t figure out if that’s a good thing (aka I’m getting strong!) or a bad thing (I wimped out on the weights) haha.

$100 would have to be to Amazon. Looove my prime membership!

Reply

Such a cute video. Yay, a boy. Congratulations to your sister and your family! Highlight of the weekend was a nice family bike ride through the fall countryside.

Reply

A gift certificate to Amazon! I feel like I have a box coming from there every day!

Reply

TARGET. most def. And congrats to your sister!!!!

Brooke is the cutest!!! I love her animal noises!

Reply

If I could get a free $100 gift card to anywhere, I would definitely get one to Target and spend it on a blender and a FitBit. I’m starting to get obsessed with the idea of tracking my steps, but I know the purchase is not a great idea just yet, financially :) I’m trying to save a little more with race season right there around the corner.

Reply

Congrats to your sister, that’s awesome!
Those pumpkin chocolate chip cookies look amazing!
I’m taking it easy today so just a yoga session, I’m itching for a run but I know my body isn’t feeling it right now!

Lululemon gift card for sure!!
I had an awesome run this morning with my son (in the Bob) which ended right at the library just in time for his reading class. Great multi tasking lol
Congrats to your sis!

Reply

Amazon! So I could get a fitbit. My friend let me try her’s last weekend and it was SO fun and SO motivating. Two things I am lacking in my exercise and weight loss regime right now. I can’t justify the expense being back in school right now, so it’s basically torture.

Reply

My highlight of the weekend was running a 50 mile trail race and getting 3rd in my AG and 6th overall! And then Sunday was my daughter’s 10th bday. double digits! I would choose a $100 gift card to Road Runner Sports!

Reply

Congrats on getting a new nephew!! I would love a gift certificate for Amazon or Target. Both are my favorite to shop at. I did a shoulders and arms workout today at the gym instead of running.

Reply

I would love a $100 gift card to Whole Foods!

Reply

Are you running Boston in 2015? I searched through your blog but didn’t see you announce that you got in!

Reply

I came down with a cold this weekend which derailed all my running plans. It also rained all weekend so it was nice just to lazy around the house in our jammies all day and play (I have a 15mo girl.)

Give me a Target GC anytime. I shop there every week!

Congrats to your sister! and you get to be an auntie again!

Reply

I love your video! Your family is so funny and random, and I love hearing little Brooke’s voice! $100 gift card would totally be to the GAP, I have been shopping there like crazy lately! And my weekend highlight was getting to hit the Blue Angels airshow on Hickam base here in Hawaii! :)

3 miles slowly. And vacuuming, which I totally count.

I had my longest run EVER yesterday! 15 miles. Oh my gosh I was so tired afterwards. That was my weekend highlight.

And if I had a $100 gift card right now, I’d spend it all at Sephora.

I would probably get some new workout clothes from Nordstrom! They just came out with some adorable Zella jackets I’ve been dying to get my hands on!

The best thing I did this weekend was go to a BBQ with a friend.

Reply

$100 gift card to AMAZON please. It’s like getting a gift car to get anything you want.

1) I’m going to need you to bring Brooke to Blend again next year in CO so I can snuggle with her and talk about Elmo. Did I ever tell you that I bought the Elmo calls app after I played with it with Brooke for my niece? She is OBSESSED and just yells “ELMO” when she seems my phone. 2) She is almost as cute on video as she is in real life. 3) You’re super cute too! 4) GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND // strong legs, happy miles, full heart – you got this! —- clearly I had a lot to say today! ;)
