Added bonus of having a child.

30 minutes on the elliptical and then we went up north to visit our really good friend from California that is in town for a little while.

Brooke wins all of the boy’s hearts.

Later on we tried somewhere new (ummm I usually just stick to the same three restaurants) and it was incredible.  It is called Joe’s Cafe and it won my heart.  I got that 8 lb omelet that I had been dreaming about and it was insane.  Jalapeños in an omelet = great idea.

IMG 7554

Every single wall in the restaurant was covered in pictures of Joe with his customers.

IMG 7551

Added bonus of having a child—>  you get to eat whatever food from their meal that they don’t eat so then you get to try two different menu items.

IMG 7557

Enjoying the last few summer nights outside.

IMG 7565

And a late dinner with my sister at Which Which. I don’t know why I always forget about this place but I shouldn’t because it is one of my favorites.  The bright red sauce is for the buffalo chicken, it was quite spicy.

IMG 7584

We both stayed up way past our bedtimes.

IMG 7582

And I made my sister her favorite banana bread for her breakfast.  I had to make sure it was delicious by trying the middle piece (I am not much of an end piece fan).

 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:

Wow the Marathon fast approaches!
I have a cross country race in an hour, although I’m crazy sore from a week of hard workouts so it’s not going to be great.
Brooke is the cutest, enjoy your weekend!

Any restaurant that serves waffles like that is automatically the best. Solid choice. I wish I had any remote skills to cook anything…or baking I guess too, I’m just working today. I feel like I tell you every post how awesome and eventful your life is.

Reply

HA I love the end pieces of bread – I’ll come eat them for you. I made banana muffins yesterday and they are delicious. It’s starting to feel like fall here so I’m kind of going baking crazy.

Going to work today…well if you count playing with shoes all day as work.

Reply

I’m with you. The end pieces are so awesome

Reply

Haha that is most definitely an added bonus to having a child! That waffle looks AMAZING!! Happy weekend! Today we’re getting some family photos taken :) Early wake up call, but should be fun!

I’m about to head out for my 20 miler—hoping to hit a 2:40. Time but man it’s HOT outside today!!!!
Happy Saturday beauty!!

Reply

I was so hot out there this morning! I just got home from a 5K and it was ridiculously hot and humid!

Reply

No work out for me today, just work and fun. However, the “fun” part of my day is outside, and it looks rather rainy right now, so my fingers are crossed for better weather!

Reply

If it’s straight out of the oven the ends are my favorite!
I’m going to squeeze in 6 miles before my kids get up today.
Happy Saturday!!

Reply

Brooke’s meal looks delicious…I would have finished it too. :-)

I’m heading to Lehigh Valley, PA this afternoon and running the VIA Marathon tomorrow morning!

Reply

I’m heading out for a run right now, helping with my garage sale, going to the football game, then going to work! I just finished a loaf of banana bread last night… now I’m craving more!

Reply

Nothing as exciting as yours! Just acting class, cooking, and yoga.

Reply

Which wich is the best!!

Reply

I am driving three hours to the mountains and then eating and carb loading ahead of tomorrow’s bald marathon!! Ahh!!

Reply

Whoops half not bald!! Lol!

Reply

Probably somewhere there is a race for bald guys. I actually sort of hope this exists because it sounds pretty awesome :)

Reply

I’m loving the idea of the bald marathon. Hilarious

Long runs planned tomorrow for me and my husband, so we are laying in bed reading and watching the Today Sow with our 9 year old daughter. I love lazy Saturdays! Will eventually get up and get our errands done, but it is hot and humid in the DC area today.

The omelet and waffle look amazing! I love breakfast foods all day long!

Reply

Your jalapeno omelet looks ah. may. zing. I kinda want an omlet now. :) I feel like the smaller the numbers of days before a marathon, the scarier it gets. Mine’s two weeks away now…yikes! Today I’m working all day and will be vegging out after that and going to bed early because I have a half marathon tomorrow that I’m using as a training run.

Reply

Mmm! Banana bread is the best at any time of the day! Today, I have a coffee date with some friends and a run :)

Reply

Yum. I love jalapenos in omelets! I just got done a very hot and humid 8 miler, was planning on 10 but it was just to gross out. Now I’m enjoying a pumpkin scramble…today we are going to a birthday party!

Reply

It’s a stay in your PJs and bake kind of Saturday for me!

I need to visit Utah, those mountains = heaven.

Reply

After being terribly sick all week I’m about to go out for 15 easy miles. I’m still sniffly, but I am able to eat and finally have some energy! It’s been a FULL WEEK since the last time I’ve run! Holy cow!

Reply

Your food always looks amazing! Hope you and that little Brooke have a fantastic weekend!

Reply

Ahhhhhhhh I have my first half marathon coming up and I just googled when St Georges is….and yup-its the same day as my half, Oct 4th. So I guess I only have 27 days too. Oh man, I’m getting scared! I live in NYC and its been so HOT here. I’m just so tired of running in heat and humidity. The day its finally 60* will be glorious. Anyway- good luck! I’ll run a little harder today knowing there’s a big community of other people out there busting their butts for a race that day!

Reply

Holly omelette! That thing is huge and all that cheese. I’ve never tried Which Which. There’s one right by my house. That salad bowl looks great. I’m gonna have to swing by there. This weekend I’ve got an active rest day today then heading to the Y to practice for my core certification. Tomorrow is weights days.

Reply

Today is hang out with baby girl/laundry day. I am not too excited for the laundry! ;/

Reply

Added bonus of having a husband: I get to eat off his plate, too!
20 miles on the bike done, now for yoga.
Then beer + wings + college football w/ husband = perfect afternoon.

Reply

I am in small town Athens Ohio celebrating my grandma’s 90th birthday!!! We are going on a family bike ride (not grandma haha) then all going to a volleyball game and out to eat!

Those Utah views are incredible. Have a great Saturday!!

Reply

I’m trying to convince myself that taking a rest day today is ok. Pretty sore today and haven’t taken a day completely off since my half on Labor Day. Also my stomach has just been off for the last couple days and I would like that to be better for my long run tomorrow. Yikes.
Going to a parade and festival in our new city with the hubby and dog in a couple hours. Then probably grocery shopping and laundry. Later having dinner at the in-laws house and watching fireworks. Happy Saturday everyone!

Reply

I got 18 miles done this morning! 2 of my good friends tag-teamed it with me – friends are really the best. Felt pretty good, considering!

Reply

Just finished 14.5 miles! Rest of the day will be for homework, sleep, food and football :)

Reply

St George marathon was my favorite race! I seriously didn’t want it to end! You’re to rock it!

Reply

Omg, that omelet looks divine!! I loveeeee huge omelets like that, especially for a nice brunch! Actually, all of the food in this post made me drool a little lol.

My family entire extended family is having a huge family get-together this weekend, so I’m looking forward to that! I’m hoping to bake something chocolatey and yummy :-)

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Reply

You know, people usually think Im weird because I really like the ends of breads and corners of brownies. I think we would get along great because you could eat the middle of the bread and I could eat the ends! Whenever you want to make me some banana bread I’d be happy to help you out!;)
Today I had a 13 mile run and now Im headed to NY for a wedding!

Reply

That looks much better than my breakfast this morning (though it was pretty good too). I am catching up on some reading and doing a bit of cleaning around the house while the husband is watching college football (I’ll pass on watching football). Have a great weekend!

Reply

Today is a recovery day for me in prep for a 22 mile run tomorrow! I will be lounging, watching college football, running errands, doing chores around the house, and eating a yummy dungeness crab dinner! I just love Saturdays. Our marathons must be on the same day because the Portland Marathon is 29 days away too! Cheers to that!

Reply

Today is my favorite niece’s (my only niece) bday party and she’s turning 4 so it’s a big thing! I’m making her some oyster cookies for the Little Mermaid theme (so cute!) I’m skipping my run this morning because my shins are acting up (boo!) And tomorrow is the water park with the family!

Reply

Added bonus or added pitfall! My husband is so bad with this he has many times finished the kids food thinking (hoping) they were done and they weren’t! Sorry hon, daddy ate your grilled cheese while you weren’t looking!

Reply

Love banana bread! I’m running Chicago this year and it’s quickly approaching as well! Good luck!

Reply

I think the saddest day of my dad’s life was the day my brother and I were able to finish our entire Blizzards by ourselves.

Reply

Hahahah I just laughed so hard at this! My dad still charges us daddy tax (aka he gets a few bites) on our food;)

Reply

That banana bread looks SO good!! Jealous!

Reply

Finished my second week of marathon training today. Ran 12 miles followed by Runner’s Flu ;)

Reply

I’m visiting with family in Easywrn Kentucky. I had a beautiful foggy run in the mountains and now I’m catching up over coffee in the cutest bakery!

Reply

Just finished a 17 miler with my running group and now we’ll be out to brunch!

Reply

I usually always have trouble decided between 2 things at restaurants, and right after I order I immediately regret my decision. I plan to coerce my future child into ordering whatever I didn’t pick so that I will never have to go through this hardship again! :-)

Reply

Brooke’s waffle looks incredible! I would eat that right up :)
I ran a half marathon this morning! So now I’m vegging out before going out with some friends from school

Reply

Banana bread – yum!

Not feeling well today, so I bagged out of my run. But I did make it to Pure Barre today. Next on the agenda: baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with my 2 mini-me’s!

Reply

Yes, that is a HUGE advantage of having a kid! Now that I have a toddler, I eat more cheerios and hot dogs than I probably should, too… good thing I run, I guess.

Today I ran 12.2 miles, took my toddler to the park and mowed the lawn. Then the little guy and I baked carrot cake cookies <– highly recommend! They are super easy and semi-health :)

Whatever kind of waffle Brooke ordered looks SOOO good right now!

Reply

Where is Joe’s Cafe? (I’m “north” of you, so . . .)

I charge my kids the Mom Fee. If they ask me to pass a snack (in the car) or open a snack, then I get to take a little bit. I hope they never forget that.

My husband and I fight over the ends of the bread. Yummm!

I LOVE getting those pre-race emails! So exciting!

Reply

Today I did a trail run, and then a treadmill run, and then I made up a buffalo chicken pasta salad for dinner. Yum!

Reply

Oh. My. Gosh. my husband and family HATE that I always grab the middle of the load of bread, or best brownie/cookie from a batch. I will literally tough every.single.one to find the best. And then of course, eat 3 more. But that’s not important :) <3 Glad I may not be alone.

Reply

Kids ARE an awesome excuse to get the best of both worlds with food! Brookers is getting so big, I can’t imagine having to order Juliet her own meal. AH!! Time goes to fast as it is. Glad I am not the only one cutting a middle piece out of dessert bread. ;)
