The BEST exercise and the Glycerin 12 Review

I had an interesting realization yesterday morning—> I may be spoiling Brooke a tiny bit in the morning. Every morning when I get her out of her crib we lay on the couch and I scratch her back until she is fully awake and ready to party.  Yesterday after her back scratch I made her banana pancakes.

I don’t think either of us would have it any other way.

Megan and I are now neighbors and so that means we go to the same church meetings together again just like we did as kids when we were neighbors.

The sun was right in our eyes.

IMG 6852

I think Brooke is planning on taking over this blog once I retire because she has been running like crazy lately.  Who needs to walk when you can run?!

IMG 6851

She is pretty fast too.

IMG 6865

The normal family Sunday dinner.  We had pork chops, veggies, rolls and my sister’s amazing creation—> garden fresh tomatoes, garlic (LOTS), salt, fresh basil leaves, mozzarella and then you broil them in the oven for a few minutes and they are too good.

This may look like a 5 year old’s choice of ice cream toppings but no, it is mine.

Dang it:

I have been testing out the Glycerin 12s this last month and I have been loving them.  I really wanted a shoe with more cushioning and a little more support than what I normally wear (the PureProject line) while coming back from a running break and these ones did the trick.  The extra cushioning has been great for long runs but they are also crazy light (9.1 ounces.. the lightest edition of the Glycerins) and so I have been doing my speed work in them too.  Gotta love a shoe that you can do it all in.

A few fun new things about the 12s:

-They added a new cushioning technology (Super DNA cushioning= the 12s have 25% more cushioning than the 11s).

-The bottom of these shoes include ideal pressure zones which evenly distribute the pressure on your foot when you land.

-The heel of the 12s are also a little bit more narrow than the 11s which may help a runner to land more mid foot rather than heel strike.

-The rounded heel allows you to align your foot more efficiently as you are running…  being an efficient runner is our goal right:)

-The 12s offer that same FLOAT experience that the Transcends do which really is a fun feeling when running.

The Glycerin 12s are great for runners looking for a neutral shoe that is light and has tons of cushioning.

And the most important part… Have you ever seen a prettier running shoe;)

I’ve asked you in the past about your FAVORITE running shoes but I was wondering if there are any shoes that you have tried that simply did not work for you!!  What ones were they and why do you think they didn’t work out for you?

Top three things you look for in a running shoe?

What was the best part of your weekend?

I love the look of those shoes so much. I can’t wait to start testing out shoes but for now I stick with what I know until I have more money and can learn more about what shoes I need for what.
I love the braided pig tails! My daughter is almost 4 and still can’t fit it all in a pony. All the poor girl wants is repunzel hair.

Reply

I’ve tried the Nike Pegasus, but they just don’t work for me. They’re perfect for some of my running friends, but that little hole where you can insert the Nike+ chip thingie just bugs the daylights out of me….

Reply

I have only ever worn Muzuno Wave riders so no answer for that one. I’m looking forward to my last week if half marathon training before taper! Woot Woot!

The best part of the weekend was a mommy/son day yesterday. We did whatever my little guy wanted to do (including two hours of playing trains and reading books at Starbucks/chapters hahaha!)

Have a great week :)

Goal for the week, get up early to run on Tuesday and Thursday. I work 7:30am-10pm those two days, so my runs won’t happen if I don’t go early!

I love the braids in Brooke’s hair! Very cute!

I didn’t like the Asics Kinsei. I tired them a few years back and they just felt like bricks on my feet. They may have changed since I tried them, but I didn’t like them then.

Reply

After being injured I realized that I need a pretty supportive shoe and I run in Asics Kayano 19 now and for the past 6 months and they have been like a dream. The mizuno inspires were good for a while but I like the kayanos better. It’s not worth injuries just to run in a lighter shoe! I definitely have some pronation issues but also just run better with more of a heel strike, I’ve found. Interesting how every person is different.

We are going away for a few days this week and my one goal is to unplug and actually RELAX whatever that means, I hope to find out!

Good moooorning!!

Thanks for the review-I’m right about to buy new shoes this week!
I’ve been wearing Saucony’s and I luhuuuve them because they are super light–I can barely feel them on my feet.

Best part of the weekend? Making vegan food with the fam! It’s fun to see everyone trying to be a little healthier (or craaazy). Take care!!

The glycerins are by far my favorite running shoe. I agree with you that they made the colors awesome this year. I love the black ones. I love that they made it lighter but still kept it so cushioned, it’s such a plush shoe. Can you tell I’m obsessed? Ha ha so that answers that.

You should sign Brooke up for some kids races…she’ll win. ;)

Reply

I agree, Hollie! I have really been loving them too. They honestly don’t even feel like they are 9 ounces…I feel like they are good for longer runs AND shorter, quick intervals which is nice. Haha – I guess I’m obsessed too! :)

Reply

I think I am going to have to try the Glycerin 12s. I currently run in Asics but need a change and from your review they are exactly what I look for. I cannot run in Adidas, so uncomfortable.

Best part of weekend- family time, great runs and workout.

Reply

Brooke’s got your good running genes! She’ll be winning kids races in no time! :)

I only wear the Brooks Adrenalines too, but I was originally fitted for a different shoe and I had to question whether the person knew what he/she was doing. Once I finally switched to the Adrenalines it was like music started playing in my head, fireworks went off and I knew I finally found The One! haha

Reply

OMBRE running shoes. So cute!! Must get those. I’m a recent convert to Brooks and I don’t think I’ll go back to anything else! I’m so sad they discontinued the PureFlow 2’s! Best part of the weekend probably going blueberry picking.. now I’m set for the whole winter!
This week I have my first official xc meet! Excited to see how I do!

Reply

Love the Gylcerins look so cool – makes me wish I took a neutral shoe!! I adore my Brooks Ravenna’s though, and they work great for me. I did try switching to the Pure Cadences last year and even though they were amazingly comfortable on, within a couple weeks of wearing them my hips were killing me. I’m guessing it was something to do with the low drop, but I’m not sure…as soon as I went back to my Ravenna’s, my hips got happy again : ) My running goal for the week is to find the motivation to run on vacation, and then nail my 20 miler when we get back next weekend! 6 weeks ’til my 2nd marathon – I can’t wait! BTW enjoy those little girl snuggles…my ladies are 8 and 10 now, and mostly only want to snuggle up with me when they are sick :( It goes way too fast…

Reply

I got a pair of the new Glyercins from work (I work at a running store). I like to walk my pups in them, but I don’t really care to run in them – just not quite the right shoe for me! Probably the worst pair of shoes I’ve tried is the Under Armour Speedforms – just don’t.

Best part of my weekend was a hike up Spruce Mt. It was beautiful.

Reply

Asics in general no longer work for me. I used to swear by Asics but they must have changed their shoes somewhat and they no longer feel good on my feet–they actually make my feet hurt! I have really wide feet so didn’t love the Pure Flows that I tried (I know, I know lol) but I have been loving Nikes lately. Nike has really stepped up their game in my opinion.

Reply

I don’t know exactly which shoes don’t work for me but I do know that I can only wear BROOKS these days….I love my Brooks Transcends but these….oh, they look nice and I could be in the mood for a new pair!! Brooks just fit and feel the best!

My goal….for my girls and I to simply have fun running a 10k on Saturday at the Women Rock in Mpls. ;-)

Reply

Shoes that didn’t work for me? I’m super particular about my shoes, so the list of shoes that DO work for me is much shorter! :) I’ve tried just about every brand, and the ones I have liked are Saucony, Brooks, Mizuno and Hoka One One. And of those brands there’s probably only one model, maybe two, from each that I would wear. :)

Reply

I have a pair of the Glycerin 12s in the same color and I loooove them. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they’re almost too pretty to run in! I’ve actually been thinking about picking up an extra pair or two of the purple ones because I’m worried they’ll sell out in that color. What doesn’t work for me: anything with a low heel-toe drop. I have super tight calves and ankles (even after foam rolling and stetching) so low drop shoes give me plantar fasciitis. Ouch! Too bad I had to learn that the hard way.

Reply

I love your church outfit! And toddlers running is so adorable (and even more so when they aren’t running on pavement and you don’t have to worry about them falling and knocking a tooth out).

When I started running I went to a running store and was fit for shoes and walked about with Asics GT 2000 series. I have literally bought the exact same shoe ever since (over 10 years). Last year I decided to switch it up and got Saucony Hurricanes. I like them, but I will probably go back to the Asics when I buy a new pair.

TOMATO PIZZAS! YAS YAS YAS!

Reply

I work at a running specialty store so my opinions are pretty all over the place since I run in literallry everything and change my mind every week but I had a pair of Mizuno Inpires a few years ago that I HATED. I like a cushioned shoe that is lightweight but fits my narrowish foot with a low instep and is truly neutral (I figured out any stability will give me blisters). Favorites right now are Saucony Kinvara, Nike Wildhorse and New Balance 980 Fresh Foams.

Reply

I always wear the pure project line but I was thinking it would be good to have a pair of more supportive shoes as a back up just in case. I used to wear the ravennas but they were a little too heavy. I need a shoe that feels really light!
I think that Brooke would do an awesome job taking over your blog when you retire one day:)

Reply

I just got back from vacation yesterday, so my goal for this week is to get back on track with running and eating. So far so good! I already got a quick run in this morning and now I’m munching on a yummy breakfast!

I was SO sad when Brooks shoes didn’t work out for me. They were alright, but I just wasn’t as comfortable as I am in Mizunos. But everybody has something that works for them! And I can’t deny how gorgeous those are!

Annnnnnd I’m gonna need to try those tomatoes ASAP.

Reply

I can’t seem to wear nike sneakers. They don’t fit my foot shape no matter what size.
I stick to asics cumulus and brooks ghosts. :)
Best part of my weekend was my girls night in Atlantic city. We had an amazing dinner at bobby flays steakhouse. Mmmmm!!!
Goal for the week is getting veggies back in my diet. I have had nerves lately and seem to be reaching for carbs and sweets. No good

Reply

I tried a pair of Asics last week when the rep stopped at our running club – the toes on my right foot went numb after 2 miles. Needless to say, I won’t be running in those again!

Reply

My goal this week?
sigh…to get out of PF denial and start researching inserts :(
my gait is all off right now so it would be pointless to get analyzed for new shoes.

and the tomatoes?? send those my way!!! I love roasted tomatoes!!

Reply

I just saw a massage therapist for PF. If you havent tried it look for one that is knowledgeable in myofascial releases or sports massages. I went in not able to walk on my foot and about 10 minutes in all of the pain was gone. I’ve seen him a few more times and hes helping to work on muscle tightness and alignment. Way better than inserts.

Reply

Sadly, I was not a fan of the Brooks shoes I tried. I’m also not a fan of Asics. Both felt to heavy and bulky to me!

Reply

I’m in love with those shoes! I’ve not had much luck with Brooks for some reason though. To me, they feel stiff like cardboard. I’ve only tried the ghost though. My goal this week is to recover from this darn injury!

Reply

I tried a more supportive shoe from Brooks. I think it was the Ghost shoe. It was a few versions back, super ugly blue/grey/white, but I was willing to try it if it made me feel like I was running on pillows. It was a waste of $100. I know Brooks has an awesome return policy, so I should have taken advantage but didn’t. They were so dang heavy and big. I love the Pure Flows.
Three things I look for are:
1) wide toe box
2) lightweight
3) beauty

Reply

You will not like this…but I could never seem to get Brooks to work for me. For awhile I was on the hunt for the perfect shoe and I swear I tried on every shoe ever made by every brand! I even did a few through Running Warehouse and wore them for a bit before exchanging them. I really wanted to like the Brooks pure line…but just could not! Their other shoes felt too clunky for me.
The rotation I have now is my absolute favorite EVER and it is Saucony. I rotate the Kinvara5 (shorter speed runs and races) and the ride 6’s.
I can’t wear light shoes all the time and actually the Kinvara5 is the only light/more natural shoe that I have been able to wear.

Reply

oh that is good exercise advice!

Reply

Best part of my weekend was going to see Boyhood yesterday. Haven’t been to a movie in the theater for a long time AND the movie was excellent!!!!

Reply

PS.
I just had to re-read that advice.
I had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast and sold myself on the idea by saying it was just like having a chocolate chip scone.

Reply

I’ve never owned a pair I didn’t like! They’re different, but in a good way!

I like light shoes, but with enough support, and wide enough to fit my big feet!

The best part of my weekend was finally deciding that I’m dropping out of college and joining the Marine Corps. It’s one of those this-could-either-be-the-best-or-worst-decision-of-my-life things. :)

One goal that I have for this week is to get through my last week of school, do my best, and come out this weekend confident in my decision!

Reply

Wow thank you for your sacrifice!

Reply

I like running shoes which provide a lot of support and that really are the right size. It’s so easy to get a size that is too small. They also have to be cute ofc.

The best part of my weekend was having a bit of a ‘I love running’ moment during my run after a series of bad runs. It happens to everyone!

My goal for this week is to make it through my running training schedule this week and hope that my achilles tendonitis problem doesn’t flare up!

Reply

I am not a fan of Mizunos. I’ve tried two different pairs and the Sayonaras have holes in the weirdest places and my feet absolutely kill when I wear them. I just tried my first pair of Asics and I’m pretty much in love, lots of cushion and super light weight. I am lucky enough to have hooked up with an athletic reviewer/writer so I pretty much wear whatever he gives me. Right now I’m in Nike, which I’ve never run in before and so far so good.

Top 3 things: Comfort (no blisters!), light weight, and they have to be pretty.

Best part of my weekend was probably church. With us being gone so much over the summer, it was nice to be back at our church home.

One goal I have for this week is to keep up with two of my x-country boy runners.

Reply

I current wear Mizunos and loooove them! I’ve gone through several brands but most recently I tried Newtons and Brooks and neither of them worked for me. I got professionally fitted and that’s how I ended up with the Mizunos so hopefully they keep my feet feeling fresh!
We had a SUPER busy weekend so it’s hard to pick just one good thing!! My goal for the week is to run 3-4 times and do yoga twice!

Reply

One thing I only admit to other runners (and you! you’d understand!) is that I currently have 5 pairs of Brooks Pureflows 2 in my closet. When they were going extinct I went crazy and bought 2 pairs because I can’t imagine life without them. My mom surprised me and got me a pair, and my older sister did they same because they know my obsession is real. Now I have 5 pairs and I couldn’t be happier =).

Reply

When I first started running, I ran in Nike and always wondered why my knees hurt so bad. Obviously, Nike shoes don’t work for me and I never realized it until I had a walk test done to eval me for the right shoe.

Reply

Brooke’s smile is the prettiest thing ever.

One goal? To run. It’s been a long month.

Reply

I need them wide, like the large seat of a Cadillac but for my feet.

Reply

A couple years back I tried a pair of Asics, don’t remember which model, but they were no good for me. I’ve been running in Glycerins for the past two years and love them. And now I can’t wait to try out the 12s!

Reply

I wore Mizuno Wave Alchemy shoes for years, until they were discontinued! I have pretty big feet that are WIDE, so I’ve always had to wear men’s shoes. On a whim, I tried getting the women’s wave alchemy (they were pink and orange and beautiful!)… They only made it 100 miles before totally wearing out the outside of the shoe, due to being too narrow. I was so bummed- my shoes are always red and white, or yellow and white, or orange and white… I want pretty shoes, too!

Reply

Brooke looks so much older in braids!

We went to the museum of nature and saw the dinosaurs and other animals. Fun!

Reply

I run in the Glycerins, I need a shoe with a ton of cushioning and these do the trick. I used to run in the Nike Air Pegasus but they randomly changed the shoe and took away all of the cushioning… leading to IT band injury. So annoying!

Reply

Brooks Adrenaline have been working for me…Anything minimalist doesn’t!
Best part of the weekend? bbq with friends!

Reply

I wear Mizunos, was in Inspire 9s but I HATE the inspire 10s so have changed to the Wave Paradox. I also had reasonable luck with Asics. Nikes do not suit my feet- Pegasus exacerbated ITBS and others blistered my flat arches.

I look for lightness, comfort and not too high around the ankles- my ankle bones are prominent and rub a LOT on high shoes.

The best part of my weekend was seeing my mum start to like her new house, my parents are divorcing and its been a tough year. This weekend was helping her move.

My goal is to fit in all my runs and do some more climbing. And in climbing beat a 5 grade climb.

Reply

I run in Brooks now, but I have tried all kinds of shoes. I look for light, comfy and of course cute when I look for running shoes. The only shoes that I tried that absolutely didn’t work were Nike’s. They were too high on the heel for me.

Reply

I just bought the Glycerin 12s last week and LOVED my first run in them yesterday! I went from the PureFlows also, so this was a really nice change. I’ve always worn the Glycerins (with the exception of the PureFlows last shoe) and have never had a single complaint. And you’re right… they’re so pretty! :)

Reply

I was SO excited about Nike Free’s and the were shredded in 2 months! I was so disappointed! I definitely have to look for more sturdy shoes now, especially because I’m not a serious enough runner to be buying $80 shoes every 2 months!

Also, that tomato creation looks amazing!

Reply

Pretty running shoes! And I like Brooke’s gold sandals too ; ) My main goal this week is to successfully pack for my trip, flight is on Friday, it’s time to get going!

Reply

My goal for this week is to start my daughter’s school year off right with healthy dinners and smooth routines rather than crazy-frazzled-mommy! So far so good…

Reply

I love running shoe shopping. Getting analyzed, the colors, the brands/slogans.. Aah. I love it all.
I like this review too! I’m in college and just signed up for a half-marathon class this semester. The farthest I’ve ever gone is 3.5 miles, so I’m looking forward to more miles! And a new pair of running shoes so I can swap between my Mizuno Wave Inspire 10s and a new pair (mainly so I can shop for new ones :)

ALSO. Which Marc Jacobs bag is that? It’s stunning!

Reply

Get through each day of TEACHING again this week. Summer break over.. first day back with high school students!

And keep working-out each night–even though I will be pretty tired.

Reply

I for some reason can not run in Nike shoes, which ever ones I try, I just end up getting weird foot pains! I mainly run in my Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 and they are my favourite so far! One goal for this week is to get in two speed workouts, they aren’t as bad as I thought they would be. Since it’s a bank holiday in England, we went to visit family in Wales, they don’t have very good internet so it’s been really great unplugging from all social media!

Reply

I am going to try those shoes next time around. I love my pure cadence Brooke’s but since I’m now training for my first marathon and upping miles on concrete I need more cushion but I was afraid a shoe would be to heavy. Great review I will try. I don’t run on the roads crazy drivers here.
I tried a Nike shoes can’t remember model but near my Achilles there was a part of the shoe that went up and I got injured I was very new to running and didn’t have a clue about trying the best shoe for me then.
Goal for today: clean my 3 toilets and house while kids at school. Declutter is theme of my day. Wish me luck!

Reply

Those shoes are BEAUTIFUL!!! Ahhh I love them!

xo

I love your blog! Read it every chance I get, and NO I have never seen a prettier running shoe!

Reply

I LOVE the Glycerin. I have yet to try the 12s – still working through a few pairs of 11s. The other thing that’s cool about the Glycerin since the 11 is the removal of that midfoot shank so you have full ground contact. Makes the ride feel super super smooth!

Reply

Please still be my friend…but I didn’t like the Brookes Pureflows. I think I got them just because I’d heard great things about them, but didn’t take into account that they may not be right for my feet. I did love that they were a little lighter than my Asics – but I’m an Asics girl through and through. Maybe some time I’ll try another pair of Brookes and do it smart this time :)

I had a fabulous weekend. Sheryl Crow/Rascal Flatts concert, a day in SF, celebrating a birthday. I need a weekend from my weekend.

I did the “unthinkable” and purchased a pair of Go-Lite trail shoes via the internet on sale (never even tried on a pair before. Guess I was feeling adventurous). I decided to try them out on one of my shorter runs. I was less than a mile in when I thought I had a rock or something stuck in the heel of my shoe. Nope. It was my skin being ripped to shreds. It was nasty. I had to limp back home. And they’re not even cute. They look like you’re running in baked potatoes. So…anyone want a very lightly used pair of Go-Lites?

Reply

Wow those tomatoes look awesome, gonna have to try those!! I too have the glycerin 12’s in purple too! Love them, bought them when they first came out. I have the glycerin 11’s too and also love them. I am a huge brooks fan and also have the ghost6 and just ordered the ghost7. My big thing with shoes is cushioning, I am a running shoe whore, lol, and can’t stop buying pairs of shoes, I have 7 pair at the moment & , one pair on the way. I have 5 in rotation, 3 pair of brooks, 1 asics and 1 Hoka, and 2 brand new in the box. Ok, you probably think I am a little crazy hahahha! Have a great day!

My goals are to not mindlessly eat AND to kick butt on my scheduled runs! Oh and just kick ass in life! Pretty shoes! And just love Brooke. Such a great Mom you are!

Goal: PR in Sunday’s 1/2 marathon!!!!

Shoes: My current go-to are the Brooks Adrenaline. I had tried the Saucony equivalent…and they just did not work. My feet and shins were killing me even after an easy 3 miles. I like/need my shoes to be cozy. The first time I slipped my foot into the Brooks, they fit like a glove. My foot was meant to be in that shoe! It always helps when the shoe can look awesome (& like it will make you run SUPER FAST), but comfort is my primary goal.

Being on vacation is the best part of my weekend. :-)

Reply

After a 1/2 one time they had a bunch of different running show companies at the race and I tried the Karhu’s. . . ahhhhh I bought them and wore them on my next run and returned them. They were just so heavy!
I have always ran in Asics and that is the brand I think I will always stick with! I LOVE the Kayano series:-) I am up to the 19’s and SO ready to get the 20’s!!!!

Best part of the weekend. . . being on a boat for my 30th birthday and having my parents here!!!!!

Reply

Ooh those shoes are so pretty! And those tomatoes look awesome!

Reply

Those shoes look awesome! My shoes need to be super light and flexible. I want shoes that allow my foot to do what my food wants to do instead of telling my foot what to do. I tried Mizuno Wave Sayonaras. I know they are popular, but . . . Not. For. Me. Too stiff.

Reply

The colors in those shoes…love it! I recently switched from Mizunos to Brooks and am loving it. I just ordered the Ghost 7s in magenta. I can’t wear Nike. All of the models I’ve tried have just felt too cushiony and I also ended up breaking my foot in them a few years ago so that kinda made me never want to get them again :)

Reply

In buying those shoes! I had the 11s and loved them. And the fact they are lighter is a bonus bc I hate heavy shoes..

One goal for the week is to get at least two good runs in, finish getting Brady’s school supplies and throw on a back to school shopping trip for myself.

Reply

I bought the new Glycerin’s last week. Felt great in store but wearing them around the house for about half an hour and my arches started to hurt. Can there be too much support?! Lol. Sadly, I think they’re going back to the store and getting traded in for another pair of Mizunos.

Reply

Hahaha. Eating less crap? I hate that exercise!

Best part of my weekend was that I qualified for Boston at the Santa Rosa Marathon! Finally a 3:44:26 (34 seconds to spare ;) ) on my fourth try!

I’ve been wearing the Asics Kayano’s for the past three years. I’ve tried the Hoka Bondis and like those too, but I just keep coming back to my Asics!

My goal this week is to eat only healthy desserts!! Best part of the weekend was taking our girls to the local Greek Festival! Yummmmmyyyyy!!!

Best part of the weekend: frosted pumpkin cookie from this bomb patisserie in Eugene, OR (Sweet Life). HOLY MOLAY.

Goal this week: not go on a baking rampage to re-create a homemade version of said frosted pumpkin cookie.

Brooks are my fave, right now i have the adrenaline 14, but i wore the ravenna for a while before. when i first started running i wore asics.
my goal for this week is to get over this dang cold so i can breath on my runs!

I love a lightweight shoe that not too minimalist with some cushion. I am loving the Kinvara 5!

OMG, cannot believe that, scratching my back is the way my dad used to wake me up. And I have to admit, that when we are somewhere for vacation staying in same hotel room, he would still scratch my back even now when I am supposedly a grown up :D :D :D

Weekend was in the name of easy running as the altitude and hills took some toll on my calves and they have been acting up. I am so happy I could train normally today again :)

Reply

Shoes…cushion, weight, and color… wait… no color, weight, and then cushion =). I always say, if you wanna see great running form, just watch a kid run! Oh, those tomatoes look ridic…nom nom nom. And a goal for this week would be to continue on icing and foam rolling. 2 weeks ventura full.

Reply

Those are some beautiful shoes, allright! Actually I do have one pair that didn’t work for me and I am really upset about it because my first 2 pairs of them were wonderful. The Brooks PureConnect were my absolute favorite “normal” running shoe (meaning non-minimalist) and I had run right through my first two pairs. I tried the new model, which I should have known was trouble since they were completely absent of any bright colors, and boom-sidelining injury. The curvature of the back of the shoe gave me an insertional achilles bursitis that has been severely limiting me for 2 months now. I’m hoping it will go away soon but it’s been really frustrating because I had just gotten back into what I consider great shape and then I was stuck doing cross training. Boo.

My goal for this week is to organize an awesome tailgate for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. I have never really put one together before so I’m pinning like crazy all day trying to find cute recipes and ideas. We’ll see how this goes!

Also, banana pancakes=best!

Reply

One goal I have for this week: REST UP for the KT82 this weekend :)

Reply

Best part of my weekend was catching up with the neighbourhood ice cream truck — we had been chasing it all summer! :)

Reply

Hmm. have the Glycerin 10’s in my closet. I wore them for one half marathon (a PR race actually) but then gave them up and don’t even recall why. I am in love with Adidas Energy Boost and although I like these details on the 12’s, I cannot imagine giving up the cushion and light weight overall comfort of the boosts. And, the best part? They are like a sock fit on top so the tops of my feet are always comfortable and never bothered by pressure from lacing.

Reply

The highlight of my weekend was going out with my girlfriends, it had been too long! Girly nights out are the best.
I really just look for comfort in a running shoe, after that I just go with what the experts say :/
And my goal this week is to blog everyday – I’m not back in work until next week so I have no excuses!

I just bought my first pair of Brooks running shoes and love them. i need to have structure so i look for arch support, flexibility and cushioning. Since getting my new trainers my hip problems have just about gone. So happy.

I loved my first pair of Brooks, I think they were pure cadences. I love them!! They were light weight and so comfortable. They lasted for a long, long time. Not sure exactly how long b/c I originally bought them for walking/running. I was very new to running so I had them a while before I went to buy a new pair. Then came along the Brooks Pure Flow. These were just as lightweight, but did not have the support I need for my running. They only lasted between 200-250 miles. :( But then I went to a local running store and was fitted properly. Go figure a running store would be able to fit me properly for running shoes!! I bought a men’s pair of Brooks Ravenna. They are not girly colors, but the black with green and yellow is really, really cool!!! So would have to say my Pure Flow Brooks did not work for me at all!!! Not enough of anything to go around for my running style and the needs of my body! I noticed an immediate improvement, within a week, of switching over to the new shoes!!

I like to spoil my toddler in the morning too! She usually wakes up pretty quickly, but we have made it a habit to snuggle in mommy’s bed after I get her up. It’s precious. <3

I love my Adrenalines, and they are hot pink which is my favorite! I loved the looks of my old Mizunos but they offered way too little support and my poor shins suffered because of it.

Thank you for the review! I am definitely checking out the Glycerins when I go running shoe shopping (hopefully this weekend :))
