Back to the double digit Saturday morning runs and it feels so good to be back.

I did a progression run where I started with an 8:15 mile and ended with a 6:55 mile and averaged 7:39 for the 10 miles.  My legs were definitely tired by the end but the run left me feeling hopeful that my fitness is coming back.   Before the run I ate grapes and turkey (don’t ask me why that sounded so good at 7 a.m.) and I really like how it fueled me for my run… could be a new thing.

I am missing a lot of furniture in my apartment BUT my kitchen is beyond fully stocked.  Priorities.

Chicken, almonds, mozzarella cheese, blackberries, blueberries and poppyseed dressing.  With a box of Wheat Thins.

Hit up the pool with my girl.

And the look she gave the kid that came over to ask for some goldfish.

 IMG 6228

We went and I finally found my headboard which I am pretty stoked about… it is the black one that is pulled out a little bit.

IMG 6239

I invited my good friend over to watch movies/talk/eat treats but then I remember I’m not having desserts for 7 more days so this is what I came up with instead.  I miss ice cream but this stuff was pretty good too.

And we hung out for hours on the couch.

PS in college people thought we were sisters.

Can anyone name the below movie?!?

Looks like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? Truly an excellent chick flick, and an awesome Saturday night if you ask me!

Picky Bars or toast with banana and pb are doing the trick for me lately!

I am so beyond impressed with your run! You are so speedy especially coming back from a break. Seriously how do you do it?!

My ideal saturday night is just staying in and watching movies and ordering food. I really like to live life on the edge, clearly. I NEED to find a good dinner recipe for tonight but I havent cooked in so long Im at a loss…

Favorite comedy chick flick is Bridesmaids but favorite sappy chick flick is When a Man Loves a Women…you know, with Meg Ryan. Whatever happened to.her anyway?

Reply

Lara bars and bananas for me before long runs. Yay for being back to double digits!

Reply

Happy to hear you got your run in. I don’t know how you do it all. I pretty much only get my runs in on the dreadmill. I had 8 on the half marathon schedule and it was a long run on the dreadmill.

Favorite chick flick…definitely Bridesmaids!!!!

Once again, the picture of Brooke was the highlight! Seriously, can she get any cuter?

My favorite chick flick is probably Bridget Jones Diary. It is hard to choose because there are some really good ones out there.

I always eat the same meal before I run, walk, swim or bike. Eggs with guacamole on a tortilla and fruit (and coffee!)

That face lol! It really is hard to share goldfish :)

I like just watching some TV/netflix on Saturday night – life of a parent with a toddler/someone who long runs lol.

I can watch the devil wears Prada any time

How to Lose a Guy in 13 Days. Best movie ever!!!

Reply

I love how the start of your progression run is how the end of my typical progression run looks like ;) Also, I love grapes, but having them before a run would be a recipe for disaster for my stomach…

Have a great Sunday girl and congrats on your new home!!

Reply

I don’t normally have any preworkout snacks, I just do the run!

Reply

Your running fitness is coming back fast! With all the strength training (and cross training) you’re doing now I bet you will be faster than ever so soon!!! So excited to see your progress this fall/winter! Speaking of which can some of that cooler weather please get here? I’m ready for running weather!!! :)

Reply

I eat a big big bowl of oats and an equally large bowl of fruit before my run.

You are inspiring me to up my mileage. I’ve been a tad lazy with my running and doing the same 5 mile run everyday!

Reply

I like to eat a piece of toast with pb and sliced banana before my run. Might sound kinda gross… but that’s what has been working for me!

My fave way to spend a Saturday night… movies with my girlfriends :)

Reply

Good job coming back to the long run Janae!! It’s always surprising to me how our bodies remember how to go long after a break.

I spy how to lose a guy in 10 days!! Love it! My other faves are 13 going on 30 or miss congeniality. Have a great day!

Benny boo boo… boo boo boo! Love that movie!
I like how you’re protecting the couch from any snack spillage!
Brooke’s face in the goldfish pic is priceless
I’ve been having a piece of peanut butter toast before I go out and it hits the spot.

Congrats on getting back to those double digit miles! And awesome times too!

I actually don’t eat before I run, only sip some coffee. I’d like to train myself to eat something, but the thought of food that early makes me think my stomach couldn’t handle it!

Have a great Saturday, and glad you’re enjoying your new place!

That’s How to Lose a Guy (in I don’t remember how many days). I ate cinnamon swirl bread before the 15k I did last month and LOVED the way I felt the whole run. And I placed 2nd woman over all. So, yeah, that’s going to happen before every race from now on.

Your fitness is coming back quickly!! That must be so encouraging after your break :)

Movie: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

My favorite Chick Flick: Friends with Benefits

I giggled out loud (GOL) at the picture of Brooke’s face…it definitely says “I don’t share food.” …. Like Joey off of Friends!!

That salad looks pretty good.

Haha, Brooke’s face is priceless.

10 things I hate about you – I forgot about that one!! Oh, it’s so good and yes, Heath Ledger is quite dreamy….

Reply

It’s hard to pick a favorite chick flick. I really love pride and prejudice or the notebook. But there are so many others I love too!
I always always always eat pb toast and a banana before a long run. And chocolate milk afterward. Why mess with a good thing?

Movie: P.S. I Love You
Pre run lately: a waffle just dry

I’ve done the random turkey and grapes after a run though. :)

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days!

The Proposal is a good one, too :)
Ideal way to spend Sat night: with the family, movie night, reading :) All of the above.
I run too early to really eat anything, so 95% of the time it’s nothing.

Reply

Best movie ever! I watched it last night too. Makes me laugh every single time. One of my top favorites of all time…

Reply

Ha! How to Lose a Guy in 10 days! I had a teammate who used to quote that movie non-stop and I still think of her every time I see it.

My Saturday night was about as chill as could be last night. I was going to go out, but when it pours rain all of my motivation is immediately drained. I had a wonderful evening watching movies on TV and snuggling with my pup, though.

That picture of Brooke= priceless!

I don’t eat anything before I run. I know I should, but it always upsets my stomach. So I do a double shot of espresso with 3 spoonfuls of sugar (judge away) and that’s my fuel. Then I come back and pig out!

Reply

I think You’ve Got Mail is my favorite chick flick. But any other Tom/Meg combo works too. Or Pride and Prejudice. I’m flexible ;)

Reply

How to lose a guy in 10 days!! Oh how I love a good chick flick – While You Were Sleeping and Catch and Release are two that I can watch over and over!

Sadly, most of my Saturday nights are spent sleeping on my daughters floor because I fall asleep putting her to bed – but last night I was awake long enough to make it to the couch and fall asleep there…Party at my house! :)

Have a great Sunday!!

Reply

Haha I was watching that last night too!
Glad u had a good run and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Reply

Good job on the running! Very inspiring… I can’t even imagine my body propelling me forward that fast.

Reply

How to lose a guy in 10 days! I was watching that last night, too :) Glad to hear you are still doing well with no dessert. I am not so good at that, haha!

Reply

You’re the reason I tried poppyseed dressing the first time and I LOOOOOOVE it. It seriously goes so perfectlyw ith fruity and nutty salads and it’s just so darn summery and so THANK YOU! :)

I’m so impressed with your dessert abstinence! You’ll be done in no time! And you are way stronger than I could ever be!

Reply

I just did my first ever double digit run on Friday – 10 mile progression run, with the slowest at 9:55 and the fastest at 7:53 :) I love your headboard! You and your good friend do look really similar.

Reply

Oh my gosh, Brooke’s face. That is priceless. And good job on getting the picture.

I love your headboard! It’s beautiful.

And since everyone else named the movie…I vote for “Pride and Prejudice”. I love it. Either one.

Although we did get sucked into “Pitch Perfect” yesterday which is so freakin’ funny.

Reply

I always eat eggs with a bit of oatmeal before my run. It’s the only thing that doesn’t set of my tummy.

P.S. I love you. I cry every time but love the story.
Perfect Saturday night- at home date night with hubby on the couch with sushi

Reply

I love running after breaks because its so easy to improve. The effort to progress ratio is perfect for someone lazy like me :) its always awesome to try and run fast without training and find that you can do it and it feels wonderful. I think that’s why I’m constantly cycling from time off to 2-3 months of running, getting fast, getting burnt out, and quitting. I like the fast easy improvements but won’t put in the effort to get better than my comfortable fast speed.

Reply

Oh yes, you two look just like sisters! Both gorgeous!

Reply

Favorite chick flick is definitely An Education! Such a great movie. :)

Reply

I have been struggling on what to eat before a run lately. Yesterday was my long run and I was just not very hungry. I ate a Lara bar. My stomach was just not happy. It seems to me it’s an ever changing process. Depends on what you eat the night before and how you feel the morning before.
My Saturday night was spent watching HBO. I loved it too!

Reply

favorite chick flick…hmmm probably something borrowed. i love that one!

last night was a pretty ideal night… my friends visited me in hoboken and we spent the day at a pier overlooking the water and nyc skyline…had some drinks and then they came over and i made margaritta nad buffalo chicken pizza and salad for them. then we just relaxed and drink wine and sucha nd went out afterewarsd. would ahve been totally fine with staying in and watching amovie too haha maybe im just a loser. but i find that to be just as fun!

I love that movie! Two of my all-time favorite “chick flick” kind of movies are Steal Magnolias and The Notebook.

Reply

Totally forgot about Steel Magnolias! Such a good movie even though I cry every time. Thanks for the reminder, going to watch it now!

Reply

Hahahah Brooke’s expression made my day! I took my nugget to the zoo a couple weeks ago and a camel from the petting zoo came over and tried to eat the goldfish off of her stroller tray….she sucker punched the camel in the face!! We caught the whole thing on camera, it was priceless :) so at least Brooke’s response was more civilized :) congrats on your apartment!!!

Reply

LOL…Brooke’s face! How cute!

It’s sort of a tie between ‘Bridget Jone’s Diary’ and ‘The Notebook.’ I love both in very different ways…lol.

I’ve had my best runs lately when I fuel with oatmeal and strawberries with a coffee. :)

Reply

Hooray for a double digit run!!!
Love that movie (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, right?!)!!!
And, Brooke’s face about the Goldfish thing is priceless!!

Reply

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Excellent chick flick! I’m a big fan of Pitch Perfect lately, so excited for the sequel!

Saturday nights are generally movie nights. Last night we watched 4 Minute Mile, it was really good, but I’m a sucker for a running movie :)

Reply

Brooke! Too cute!!
I like spending Saturday nights with a nice dinner and then to bed early! I rarely watch movies and TV. Before runs I like to eat oatmeal with fruit and nut butter!

Reply

I can’t eat before running, it gives me a stomach ache. So does drinking water count?

Do you watch B&W movies? Because I love Midnight, It Started with Eve, The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer, and Random Harvest.

I cannot believe you’ve gotten so speedy as quickly as you have! Way to go!

Reply

How to Lose a Guy, love it! I’ve been on a huge grapes kick lately :)

Reply

I love Ever After.
I enjoy going out to eat or catching live musics on Saturdays. Or just chilling out and watching television with the boyfriend. Or karaoke.

If I’m running first thing in the morning, I eat a banana. Otherwise, I just run off of whatever I ate most recently in the normal course of my day.

Reply

Awesome run! Sounds like grapes and turkey are the way to go. And I love the side eye Brooke is giving–classic! I just do the boring old Gu or maybe some Honey Stinger chews before my runs. I think my favorite chick flick is When Harry met Sally.

Reply

AAAHHHHH That is actually my fav chick flick!
