We don’t have those in Utah and THE crepe recipe.

WOW!! At 34 weeks pregnant Alysia ran 800m in 2 MINUTES AND 32 SECONDS!! Holy speed.  Her goal for the race was to not be the first person in the 800m to get lapped… and she definitely didn’t get lapped.

At 34 weeks pregnant I was just happy to get out for a run let alone run anything remotely speedy.  She is INCREDIBLE!

I did ab work (8 minute abs and planks on my elbows ((working towards a 5 minute plank)) and as many push-ups as my arms could handle and then I went out for a walk.

Ya know, just a turtle hanging out.  We definitely don’t have those roaming the streets in Utah.

Now this is a good machine.  It creates amazing crepes.  I will be getting one for my new apartment.

My brother absolutely loves this recipe (my brother takes his cooking very very seriously).  They got it from a friend that lived in France and both my bro and SIL say that these crepes taste just like the ones they had when they went to France.

IMG 3966

Filled with strawberries and fresh whipped cream.  My brother also made us fried plantains.  He learned how to make them when he lived in El Salvador for a few years.  I really think my brother needs to quit his job and open up a restaurant.

Pool time with the girls.  These two are just two months apart.

IMG 3993

For years my brother has been telling me about his famous filet mignon wrapped in bacon and I finally got the chance to experience it.   Steak and watermelon, you really don’t need anything else in life do you?!

My weekend nights have really got to stop being so wild and crazy.

IMG 4004

And the usual ‘put the kids to bed and veg out on the couch eating something delicious because we are exhausted after a full day with 6 kids in the mix.’

This stuff is addicting.  It is no longer ‘skinny’ pop when you eat twelve servings of it.

Not going to lie, I am missing the fact I don’t have a long run this morning BUT I know that taking this break will make my long runs in a few weeks feel so good and so strong.  Off to do some strength training at the gym!

I freaking love crepes. We have a great crepe recipe but my husband is absolutely dying for one of those machines and the little scraper tools. I’ve been searching around for one for a while.

Glad you are having so much fun on your trip!

I am currently also working my way up to five!! I’ve made it 3.5. It’s so hard! How did the female record holder do it for 1 hour and 40 minutes?!

Those crepes look amazing!

Wow- he sounds like a fantastic cook!! I haven’t had watermelon yet this summer, but I’ve been really craving some lately.

I saw the pregnant runner on the news… amazing! Crepes are one of those recipes on the “to cook” bucket list. Might have to use this recipe… looks like a winner!

Reply

Mmm those creeps look delicious! Enjoy your time off from running because soon you’ll be full speed ahead!

Reply

Ymmmmmm those crepes.
When I know I will be longing for the long run, I put something in its place that will take the same amount of time. That way when I return home the timeline of my day still seems familiar, and there is less freak out about no long run.

Once again, you have the best advice. Definitely going to be using this tip. Thanks girl!

Hm, that’s a very different crepe recipe. I’ve always made mine with much less fat – just a tablespoon of melted butter. Mine are mostly egg and milk. I think the key to a perfect crepe is resting the batter – I rest it overnight if I can but at least an hour.

Reply

I am going to totally try resting the batter… thanks so much!

That woman is amazing. I distinctly remember catching someone taking a video me running at the BYU indoor track when I was 37 weeks pregnant. As if I didn’t already feel like a giant beached whale… I was glad she made sure I knew how ridiculous I looked waddling along “running”.

Reply

HAHAH YEP… I remember waddling from about 24 weeks until the end:)

The crepes looked really amazing!

5 mins!? I made it to 2 last weekend (and did it again once this week) and was so exhausted afterwards haha, it’s a workout in itself! My arms/shoulder are most sore after doing one, but for my husband he says his legs kill him. Interesting, eh? You?

Love all the strength training you are doing! I’m about to venture off to my first Xtend Barre class, I am nervous and excited! Have a great weekend with your family :)

Reply

A 5 minute plank?! Geez lady! My lower back begins to ache so dang bad if I go even half that long, but I am happy to say that since I started doing barre two weeks ago, I can tell a definite difference in my lower back strength!

Your brother should DEFINITELY go into the restaurant biz! Everything looks so good! And I love all the cousins pictures! Growing up with cousins close to your age is the greatest! Have so much fun!!

I eventually want to learn how to make crepes! For now, it’s pancakes or waffles with whipped cream and strawberries.

Reply

Is that the toe of a pair of Saucony Virratas I see in that pic up there. I have them and love them, but they sure wear down quick. Looks like fun there and I gotta try the crepes. Yum!

Reply

Yes they are! I use them mainly for walking!!! Hope you have a great day!

Reply

I love crepes! I had some amazing ones with lemon and sugar the last time I was in France – the absolute best!

Reply

Your family activity shot looks like what we were doing with all the cousins last night. We played Ninjas, Duck Duck Goose and Big Booty. And then ran races across the lawn. Simple fun is a nice break from screens and other noisy things.

Reply

Mad props to that pregnant girl! Wow! So impressed.
Looks like you’re having a great time!! Stay safe!

Reply

Bacon wrapped fillets are my fave! Oh Brooke and neices are SO cute!!! Makes me want another my baby girl turned 3 and I miss that stage now.
Now I want a crepe.

Ya. That woman is my hero. I am pretty proud of myself for any exercise that I do at 36 weeks pregnant. I can guarantee that none of what I do is with any speed at all.

I eat half a bag of that Skinny Pop at a time. I thought the MORE you ate the SKINNIER you got. #Damn #MisleadingName

Reply

Remember the last time you swore? That was hilarious.

Reply

I ate half a bag of skinny pop on wednesday and gave myself such a stomach ache. That stuff is so addicting. I always start by daintily eating one piece at a time and it ultimately ends with me shoving handfuls in my mouth like a savage. I’m no longer allowed to buy any of the delicious popcorns at Costco. I have no self control!!!

Reply

I bought an aqua jogger yesterday. After my 20 miles tomorrow I’ll be throttling it down and including pool running in my repertoire. I hope I get the same results like you :) . Stay fierce stay blessed J!

Reply

Your bro def needs to open a restaurant…preferably in Florida ;) enjoy your trip!!!

Reply

mmm bacon wrapped filet mignon sounds pretty amazing!

Reply

That is amazing Alysia did that! The track and field championships are going on about a mile from my house. I actually ran past them warming up on the track this morning. Made me feel slow but it was pretty cool to see!

Reply

Sooooo cool!

Reply

Crepes are amazing! Now I want some!

Reply

Hahaha skinny pop just means you eat more, right?

Reply

A mouse ran right in front of me the other day on a run, I completely shrieked. At least a turtle can’t really jump out and surprise you, hahaha.

I couldn’t believe when I read about Alysia Montano, that’s INCREDIBLE.

Reply

I love crepes! There is a place in DC called Crepe Away and they offer both sweet and savory crepes….I haven’t been there in a while and this post makes me want to go back as soon as possible!

Reply

Wow those crepes look so good!

Reply

Mmm, that crepe looks amazing! I love crepes with Nutella and strawberries.

Reply

That popcorn is so good, but I’m with you. Who eats just one serving? I buy the single serve packets to avoid the disaster altogether.

Reply

I adore crepes. I suck at making them, but maybe trying a crepe maker would make them better. What brand is that?

Reply

Yeah-that Skinny Popcorn is dangerous. Just like Snack Well cookies, doesn’t help when I eat the whole box…

Reply

That crepe looks like pure deliciousness!!!

How cool would that be to see a turtle just roaming around the street! So awesome :)

Reply

I would be pretty darn happy with steak and watermelon for the rest of my life. But I’d have to add peanut butter somewhere in there to make it a trifecta of a meal :)

Reply

Good luck with your planks! They’re amazing but oooooohhh they burn so bad! :)

Reply

Fried plantains are delicious!

Reply

I see the comment regarding the PRO Compression socks. Do you wear these when you run? I dont recall you blogging about them. If so, do you wear them while running or recovery?

I live in Florida and think they may get very HOT! But, I have heard that they really help with recovery, etc.

I so enjoy reading your adventures! You are so insipiring! I have turned all the girls in my running group to your blog – they love you too! :)

Oh man, my husband loves to make and eat crepes. I’ll have to have him try that recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
