My road trip took me to…

2 hours in the good ol’ pool to start my Saturday off with 30 x 1 minute hard with 1 minute recoveries thrown in the middle of the workout.  I am missing my land running a whole lot but I am soooo grateful that pool running doesn’t hurt my leg and I am still able to get in a killer workout each mornings.  Those endorphins keep me sane.

My road trip took me to sunny St. George (Southern Utah.. about 3.5 hours away from me… fun fact= I lived in St. George during my elementary years) to be with the girls that I have known for 16 years.

IMG 1934

The drive down was pretty uneventful but the trillion candy wrappers all over the car means that it was a good road trip.

IMG 1932

Above candy made me really crave some sort of nutrients and so we went to Smashburger for their cobb salad for dinner.

IMG 1938

And it is unethical to go to Smashburger without getting their sweet potato fries so we did the right thing and ordered them.

IMG 1939

Having fitness loving friends = for girls night they want to go to a fitness dancing class.  It was a blast but like usual I am reminded that I need to stick to running in a straight line or any other sport/activity/hobby that takes zero coordination.

IMG 2014

Was it even a question that this part was going to happen?  No.  PS good call Yogurtland on the cookie divider, now I can get chocolate on one side and fruity on the other side without the stress of them mixing together.

IMG 2017

And talking until 2 a.m. while drinking a gallon of water each.

IMG 2021

Missing this little nugget but I am sure we will make up for lost time this week by doing all sorts of wild and crazy things together this next week.

Sweet potato fries! Best ones I’ve had came from a cute little restaurant (don’t remember the name) and came with 5 different kinds of dipping sauces which was really fun.

I only lived in 2 places my first 18 yrs and both in Virginia. Then I lived in 6 places including 3 states and 3 countries in the next 10 years!

No sleeping in for me this morning. Up and at ’em and ready to go and get my long run in. Have a super day!!!

I love sweet potato fries, and the best are homemade!
You sound like me when I last tried to go to Step class, I was such a disaster, felt like a total klutz. Turns out being in good aerobic shape and coordination are 2 very different things.

Sweet potato fries!! Yum!

Kind of slept in – 6:30am. I know when I make it to 7, I’m really feeling lazy. :)

I lived in the same house my first 18 years in Gainesville, FL. Then I stayed in Gainesville to go to UF for undergrad and grad. Once I was married to an Air Force guy I moved to the Florida panhandle, Texas, Arkansas, and New Mexico (all in the first 2 years) and then I lived in England and Japan. Woohoo for travel!

I lives in colorado, Virginia, California, Orem and Provo. My dad was in the military.
Looks like I’ll be trying pool running this week- injured my knee in a race Saturday! So upset about it

Reply

Sweet potato fries!! and I think I lived in about 9 different places in the first 18 years of my life :) I am an early bird and 6:30 is a sleep in for me!

Reply

I love sweet potato fries!! They are amazing- esp of they’re a little crispy on the outside! Yours look great!!

I have lived in the same town my whole life!

I am going to say regular fries. I do enjoy the sweet potato fries, but after a few I am wanting something less sweet. I was born in MN, lived in NY until 5 yrs old and now CO. I always wake up early so on Sunday/rest day I go get my grocery shopping done. I love how quiet it is in there. Have FUN with your friends. I think that was a good call while Brooke is away! Enjoy.

Reply

Sweet potato all the way. I love Moo-yah’s version.

Bright and early for a short, recovery run.

Only one place growing up: McKinney, TX

Reply

Sweet potato fries for sure! I don’t know if I’ve ever had them out, but I love me some Blue Mesa sweet potato chips.

Reply

Enjoy the girls trip!

Reply

I lived in 3 different places my first 18 years of life, but the same place from 3-18. I only remember the 2nd and 3rd houses. I love the cookie divider idea!

Reply

Looks like so much fun :)

Sweet potato fries for me, and I think I make the best ones but I’m very biased ;)

Reply

Sweet potato! I really like the ones at Blue Lemon

Reply

Sweet potato fries are the best…I make them at home all the time. (I always bake them, though…pretty sure if I left myself fry them once, there’d be no stopping it.)

So happy you got to head to St. George and spend time with old friends! I’m headed there in a few weeks to relax and run up and down a mountain at least once a day.

I only lived in two (neighboring) towns until I graduated high school, then 10 years in and around nashville, then back to PA. Is it terrible that I’m so happy to be back near my family in part bc it means free and convenient dog-sitting while I restlessly travel around the country?

I know its summertime when my pedicure goes blue.

I want to frame that photo of Brookers!! I pool ran a few times in college when my shin was busted and I remember it being a killer. My heart rate would still be super high well after the I left the pool. That was after about 30 min. No idea how you go 2 hours!

Reply

I love sweet potato fries, I like to make them myself.

Reply

6 different places! Life of a Navy kid!

Reply

Sweet potato fries for me. Yesterday at Red Robin I got bottomless broccoli instead of fries. It was not very good. I only had 1 serving.

Lived in–>Boston, Dallas, San Diego, Royal City, and Othello.

I could be in your mug gang! I still drink out of mine everyday! They are the best size because they hold a ton of ice and still fit a lot of water.
My husband got up with one of our kids at 6:30 and let me sleep til 7:30. It was heaven!
Have a good rest of your trip! I would love to be there right now.

Reply

Sweet potato fries! I gotta say, I like mine the best ;) It took me a couple years to perfect them, the key is cutting the right thickness, and I use my seasoning trifecta – coconut oil, sea salt and garlic powder and baked – yum!

Slept in… ’till 6! ;) I’m up at 4 during the week, so that really is sleeping in for me, and that’s what time my youngest munchkin wakes up. EVERY DAY!

Just one place, just one house! I lived in the same house in Santa Cruz, Ca from the time I was born until I move out at 19! I absolutely loved growing up there!! Since then I’ve done the “tour of California” – LA area, San Francisco, back to LA, and now settled on the Central Coast in Arroyo Grande and loving it ;)

Enjoy your visit with your friends, and have a safe trip home. Distraction is key when Brooke is gone I bet. I just can’t imagine how hard that is. But it must be just so awesome – for BOTH of you – when she comes home!

Reply

I love sweet potato fries! YUM! And the cookie divider!? BRILLIANT! I wish the one froyo place we have here had that!

Reply

I’m totally a normal french fry girl – but I always cover them in hot sauce or old bay! My uncle makes homemade sweet potato fries and pours his homemade maple syrup on them. They are the best sweet potato fries ever!

Reply

That cookie divider is genius!

Reply

Sweet potato fries for sure. I woke up sort of early today to eat French toast my mom made; it’s been a Sunday tradition my whole life! Even though we’re all in France, she still made it. Delicious. I lived in the same place the first 18 years of my life (well, except for the first year, but that doesn’t really count), then moved across the country on a spur of the moment decision after high school.

Reply

A cookie divider? Oh my gosh, I wish we had a yogurt land close by.
Normal fries. My favorite fries have got to be from McDonald’s.
Woke up at 8 this morning, the hubs and I stayed up finishing up Juan Pablo’s season of the Bachelor and Andi’s first episode. I have no respect for that man….total douche.
I lived in the same place until I left for college. My parents still live in the house I grew up in.

Reply

Cookie divider!! I could do the same thing at home…we always have sorbet or ice cream and now with the help of a cookie or graham cracker it could change my world!!

Reply

Sweet potato fries, hands down! So good! A Smashburger just opened in my area, so I may need to make a trip for lunch. I had no idea they had sweet potato fries! (Garlic parmesan fries would be a close second though :)

Your spontaneous girls trip sounds so fun! I want to try a dance fitness class but I lack coordination. I took a dance class one time and it was embarrassing and I never went back!

Reply

I don’t really like regular fries but I love sweet potato fries!!

I lived in the same town for my first 18 years.

Reply

I don’t like sweet potato fries, so normal or garlic fries for me!

Didn’t sleep in…its getting brighter here so woke up around 6:45 and read for a tiny bit.

I lived in the same house my whole 18 years! I did move my first year of college, but my family only moved about 1.5 miles away, lol to a bigger house and yard:)

happy sunday!

p.s. i love those hi-chews! at my costco, they sell 100 for $6!

Sweet potato fries. Every single time

Reply

Sweet Potato Fries all the way! With a=gallons of cinnamon ;)

I woke-up at 4:30 this morning, so more like “dark” and early!

Reply

Definitely sweet potato fries! Unless they are waffle fries from Chick-fil-A because those are incredible.
Also where did you get those sandals?? They are so cute, and exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Hope you have a great Sunday!

Reply

Thank you Rachel! I got them at Old Navy a few years ago and Chick-fil-a waffle fries are incredible!

Reply

Road trips that involve lots of goodies and music are the best! I would have to say that I’m a sweet potato fries kinda girl. The Deschutes Brewery makes some of the best! My husband and I slept in a little this morning (by sleeping in, I mean we were out of bed by 7). At some point we will head to the pool and get our workout in. It’s nice to have a full day with no plans AND a day off tomorrow too!

Reply

I love sweet potato fries, but I have to say I like french fries better. Chick-fil-A to be exact. ;)

I slept in until a little after 10 this morning!

I’ve only moved once, but within the same county.

Reply

Sweet potato fries! They’re really good with barbecue sauce. I got some really good sweet potato waffle fries the other day, they were awesome. Do they make sweet potato curly fries? Because I think that would be the best thing ever.

I slept in for the first time in months! I slept til 10!

I lived in 4 places during the first 18 years of my life: California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. It’s very complicated when people ask me where I’m “from”!

Reply

Genius idea that cookie divider. Just genius!

Reply

Sweet potato fries all day everyday! LOVE THEM! The best sweet potato fries i’ve had are from Sesame in Charleston!

I slept in this morning. well until 10am. But It was definitely needed!

I have lived in 2 different places in my first 18 years of life– San Antonio and College Station, TX!

Reply

I always just put coconut fro yo in between the fruity side and the chocolaty side because coconut goes with both. But I definitely like the idea of the cookie divider.

I am glad you are having fun. I love St Geezy. I lived in the same house in North Ogden my whole life until I was 18, graduated and moved to St George. I tell Ross that I want to move back all the time and he doesn’t believe me.

I slept in today…and yesterday….until 9am. It was glorious. I seriously have some stellar kids. They actually didn’t wake up until almost 9 yesterday (the clouds and rain helped) but today I heard them get up at 7 and they just went down stairs got breakfast and read books, played with play dough and what not until I got up. It’s days like this that I think having this large gap between #2 and #3 was a good idea ;)

I loooove sweet potato fries. I like smashburgers, guru’s and smoking apples he best.

Every time you post a picture of Brooke I think it is the cutest picture ever….until you post the next one. Dang that little girl is the cutest.

Reply

Sweet potato fries all the way! I LOVE then!

I tried to sleep in but ended up waking up around 7:45am. But that resulted in making some of the best sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had, so it was worth it.

My Dad was in the Air Force, so I’ve moved six time before the age of 18. Two of those places were Germany and Italy :)

Reply

Doh…them**

Reply

I’ll take all the fries!!! But I have sweet potato fries more often, I like to just do them homemade in the oven. I’ve lived more places than I can count in the first 18 years of my life, at least 8 places but all in the same state.

Reply

i looooove smashburgers sweet potato fries. i will pick any sweet potato fries over regular fries any day!

Reply

Love sweet potato fries Saltgrass Steak House has the best ones..They drizzle honey all over them. Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking of them, lol..

I lived in 5 different states up until my 3rd grade year but even then we moved around a lot.

Reply

Wisconsin was the ONLY place I lived my first 18 yrs. That’s probably why I moved to the west coast and have traveled to practically every country before the age of 40. I felt suffocated living there. Definitely, yes to sweet potato fries! I was up bright and early this morning for 10.5 mile AZ run. It was gorgeous. Getting hot out and soon I will be getting up at 4 to beat the heat.

Reply

So happy that you now live close enough to just drive to visit Friends!!! Awesome. I can’t wait till we move closer to family and friends…they make life so much better!!!

Fitness dancing?!?

Reply

Hahahah I love you! I gotta keep some things off of here;)

Reply

Sweet potato fries over regular any day! I can’t think of a favorite place though…it would be pretty hard to mess up fried sweet potatoes!

I was up early, pregnancy has done that to me now a days but I don’t mind. I’ve been going to bed early to make up the sleep. My stomach was growling when I woke up so I had a big bowl of fiber one cereal with bananas and strawberries…mmmm

Reply

Reading your blog has made me want to do two things. RUN, and to go to trader joes! Surprisingly they have one in New Hampshire! I absolutely love the cookie butter! Thanks for introducing me to a great store!!

Reply

I woke up at 4:30 this morning because I had a race at 7! It’s only 3:30 and I’m already ready for bed!

Reply

I love the Intermountain water bottles! :)

Reply

I wish the froyo shops in my area had cookie dividers! I always want two completely different flavors that don’t necessarily work when blended, and this would save me from making the difficult choice.

I slept in until noon today, for the first time in months. I was up late finishing projects, and it felt soooo good to not have to be up and ready this morning.

Reply

I see sparkly walls…were you guys pole dancing?

I lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Berkeley during my first 18 years.

Reply

I used to be able to sleep in, but now I’m usually up around 6:30…earlier depending on when the little guy wakes me up.

I grew up in Tennessee until I was 11 and then moved to CT.

Reply

I have yet to have any amazing sweet potato fries. I need to remedy that immediately.

Sleeping in was on the agenda today…our whole family has come down with the flu so we are all feeling pretty lazy.

I’ve lived in Michigan, the Bronx, Arizona and Utah.

Hope you are having the best time!!

Reply

I’m housesitting for a chocolate lab right now who insists on sharing the bed. This means I’m up early to let her out/feed her breakfast/pay attention to her. ;) If you had a dog would you let it sleep in bed with you? I’m a huge fan of having a designated doggie bed so I can get my sleep!

Reply

Thought of you today when I went to this new doughnut shop in Dallas! Top Pot Doughnuts are so good! :-)

Reply

i lived in 5 different places.

i woke up bright and early and got my 15 miles in before it was too crazy hot.

i just got my own flotation belt so that i can try some pool running. i’m not injured, but i live in florida and i’m going to try to sub in some pool time to avoid the hot-hot-hot weather. and after back surgery last year, i figure the less impact, the better :)

Reply

I am the only one of my friends who prefers regular fries over sweet potato fries!!! I need to try the ones at Smashburger!

Reply

Oh man, just counting towns, 4 cities in 2 different states. Counting houses or apartments, 10. Jeez!

Reply

Sweet potato fries are my favorite. The local diner by my house has the best ones ever!

Got up at 6:30am this morning and after walking the dog I went for a bike ride at the beach.

My first 18 years were in the same house. I was there until 22. My folks still live there. I moved a zip code away for 4 years and then bought a house in the same zip code (a mile away from my folks) that I spent those first 22 years. :)

Reply

I got up at 7 so that’s sleeping in for me. I love both kinds of fries, just depends what I’m in the mood for. Best sweet potatoe are from this little beach shack. Best regular fries are also from a beach shack but in South Africa! They are handcut when you order then! Lived in one house my first 18 years and my parents still live there!!

Reply

Loving “this little nugget” and also…sweet potato fries are SO delicious. I am petitioning every restaurant to have a dedicated fryer so Celiacs can have french fries. This whole gluten free thing sucks. I miss them so much.

Reply

Sweet Potato Fries. Zinburger, Shake Shack and Bobby Flay’s Burger Palace has good ones.

Reply

Sweet Potato Fries- Gritty McDuff’s in Portland ME. Preferably served along with a bison burger and a Summer Ale. Now I’m hungry…
I lived in the same house from when I was about 6 months old until I moved out. My parents eventually moved after they retired.

Reply

I prefer sweet potato fries, and there is a place right down the street from where I live that has the best ones. I slept in today…7 am which is super late for me these days! I lived in the same area for the first 18 years of my life (well I started college at 18 so i guess two places).

Reply

That cookie divider is awesome!!

Reply

Normal fries are always my fav, I’ll choose them every day over sweet potato ones.

Reply

I love sweet potato fries! I usually like the ones from southern bbq joints the best……………bbq places have great sweet tea (a southern thing!) and sweet potato fries.

My first 18 years I lived in West Monroe, Alexandria, and Ruston (all in Louisiana)………..Sherman, Texas………..Soddy Daisy and Dunlap (Tennessee)…………then there was college in Rexburg, Idaho now I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee…………….my dad was a DJ and radio stations moved him around a lot.
