The weirdest thing I have ever seen while running.

I somehow managed 7 miles on Friday morning.  There were a bajillion water breaks and stops to take pictures but after feeling like I was going to die for a few days this last week, I was pretty happy that I even finished the run.

You have to admit, running by the ocean is the best.

As I was running along a little path in the jungle area I came across at least (I promise I am not exaggerating) 20 monkeys.  It actually scared me really bad and it was the first time I didn’t feel safe while in Thailand…  I didn’t run on this portion again.  Good thing I didn’t smell like bananas because if I did then I would have been a goner.

I think I hit a 4 minute mile pace as I was running away from them.

I am really getting used to having mashed potatoes at breakfast every morning.  Why hadn’t I thought of this before?  Potatoes are in my top 10 favorite foods.

And the rest of the morning/afternoon was spent with three great things: reading, coke light and the pool.

Then it was back to Bangkok for the night before heading home to Utah!!!!  Our last 3 person scooter ride together.

Who knew that there is incredible Italian food in Thailand?!  I cannot stray from spaghetti, no matter how many different amazing pasta options there are on the menu.  It is just the best.

We had a 3:45 a.m. wake-up call to hit the airport (luckily, a friend is actually on the same flight as me because I get a little nervous when I am on my own without knowing the language… I do understand what Mister Donut means though).

Breakfast of champions before our flight took off.

Next time I see you I will be in Utah with this face (I found this picture the other day and I just love it too much).

Love that picture of you on the beach, so beautiful. I don’t blame you for being scared of monkeys. I turned around once when I came upon a group of Turkey’s lol. I was afraid they’d chase me like geese.

I had a similar experience with aggressive monkeys in Thailand! We kayaked to a secluded beach to have lunch and while we were eating (not exaggerating) 100 psycho monkeys came out of the jungle and started taking our lunch! The worst was they opened and dumped out all of our water. My husband went alpha ape and started yelling and kicking sand at them. They finally went away (when the food was gone) and we had to kayak back to our hut with no water in the middle of the afternoon heat. Worst hour on a kayak ever! Don’t feed the monkeys!

I would not mess with monkeys either–Catching Fire.

I would have been SO SCARED of the monkeys. I’m terrified of running by geese (I hate geese) so monkeys would absolutely terrify me.

Safe travels home!!

How about how garlic bread is on the menu everywhere in Thailand, not just at Italian restaurants? I think I had garlic bread and spicy fried rice for breakfast every morning.

I live in Barbados and have come across monkeys on a few occasions. During one morning run, one even started chasing me. Seriously freaked out!!! Now I run with pepper spray, not for protection from people, but from the crazy monkeys! I hope you enjoyed your trip and safe travels!

I’ve always wanted to go to Thailand and now…..I want to go even more! So awesome that you got to have this adventure!

Oh Brooke!! MY HEART! She is going to be so happy to see her mama!

Mister Doughnut. Thailand, you are perfect. I have looooved all your pictures! I don’t know why but all your pictures look like everywhere in Thailand smells like the ocean. Is this correct? Maybe it’s just because I feel like Thailand is perfect now, and anything perfect should have some ocean smell.

Oh gosh, that many monkeys would have been terrifying! Good thing you can run 4 minute miles to escape. :) The pool sounds fantastic too- I’m so ready for warm weather!

Reply

I would have been scared by the monkeys too! A while ago I was running through some fields and there were big cows with horns- I stood by the gate for about 5 minutes deciding whether to go through or not- in the end I walked gently past them, and as soon as I was past the last cow I totally legged it- interval training right there!

Running on the beach is the best!! I would have totally freaked out if I saw monkeys on my run, too.

Whoah! Monkeys are neat animals, but I’d probably run fast too to admire them from afar.

I LOVE running on the beach! I ran barefoot along the water in Punta Cana last year, and it was refreshing to meet the tide and cool off as I made my way up and down the beach. Heaven. I can’t wait to go back.

Reply

Yep, that’s pretty much the exact reaction I’d have to seeing that many monkeys!

Reply

You are the only person I know who could run 7 miles so soon after food poisoning. Great way to end your Thailand adventure!

MISTER DONUT!! So good – the shops in Japan are amazing they have so many cute doughnuts!

Canteens additionally equip themselves with one of
these given that they may merely easily take one out when it looks like you will find a lot of pupils ingesting there
and also the furniture that they’re on spread out aren’t enough.
This information can also be ideal for faster miles, but in general this information applies more straightforward
to longer paths.
