Gettin’ some action

I made it 2.25 miles Monday morning with my friends.  My stomach is still pretty messed up from the food poisoning so I called it quits and have realized I might just be sentenced to the treadmill for the next few days so that I can stop at anytime when I need to.

After I put Brooke down to bed last night my stomach was feeling better and I did 9.75 miles at the gym (the gym treadmills don’t hurt my shins like my treadmill does… I don’t understand but it is what it is).

12 miles total for yesterday and the last 4.25 @ a 7:02 pace.  The gym is sure crowded late at night.

Just making bird calls to start the morning.  She has gotten pretty good at it.

IMG 0676

I can’t stop with the french fries… maybe it is because they are bland and easy on my stomach?  Or maybe the salt?  Or maybe they are just extremely delicious?

IMG 9899

Spring Break in Utah means we got all the kiddos with us for our lunch get together.

IMG 0679

And Brooke got some action at the park.  It may have been the cutest moment ever (I will not be okay with this happening when she is a teenager but for now it is okay;).

IMG 9909

These are some of the add-ins for the quiche I made for dinner.  Brooke is in love with eggs and I am in love with buttery crusts so I think quiche for dinner is the perfect combination.

IMG 9910

4 eggs, beaten

1 cup milk

1/2 flour

Spinach, chicken, red pepper, green pepper, corn, black beans and red onion.

Salt and pepper to taste

1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust

Combine the above ingredients and pour into pie crust (in pie pan:).  Add some sharp cheddar cheese on top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

IMG 9914

It was insanely good.  My mom and aunt loved it too.

Mentos are sold everywhere in Thailand and so I got a little addicted to them while I was there.  I went on the hunt yesterday to find the good stuff and I was successful.  I felt like I was in high school again because I used to always eat these all of the time way back when (remember the Mentos commercials ha).

I start marathon training (for the first time ever) in less than a month! Can’t wait!!!

I love eggs and really don’t have a preference. I usually mix them up on my fork with whatever else is on my plate anyway :) That quiche looks delicious!

Reply

Yay for marathon training!!!

Reply

I love eggs ALL ways- but sunny side up, lately! My next race is Boston- so 13 days! eeeeek!
I am in taper madness mode- the freakish time when you doubt all of your training and every pain is a massive injury :)

Reply

Good luck at Boston, your training is good and will be ready.

My eating habits in high school were horrible. I would have a Dr. Pepper, a small chocolate shake, and a Nutty Bar.

I make myself a veggie egg scramble almost daily. I must say your quiche looks awesome! I need to try making one. I have lots of sliced vegetables left from a barbecue on Sunday. A quiche would be a great way to use them up quickly.

Mmmm mentos. I just signed up for my FIRST marathon this coming October and am already training! I’m pretty excited! I really don’t like eggs though…

FYI – I had a bad case of food poisoning overseas and it took me about two weeks to be back to normal again.

Reply

Congrats on signin up for your first Marathon, we just signed up four ours too

Reply

That quiche looks amazing! I’m getting hungry just looking at it
My eating habits were atrocious at high school. I was addicted to sausage rolls and giant chic chip cookies – I feel nauseated at the thought
51/2 weeks until my first half- marathon!
Poached – definitely
Hope your stomach settles soon

Reply

I had horrible eating habits in high school and I was seriously addicted to spree candy, now it’s jolly ranchers. Can’t help it.

Scramble eggs always and I’m still injured, no racing in my future…:(

Reply

Sorry about your Injury

I’m not sure how I was successful on the track in hs bc along with eating twix for breakfast and drinking insane amounts of soda I had a lot of body image issues…maybe had I ate like a normal person I wouldn’t have had so many issues (hindsight is always 20/20).

I have a 5k this wknd and next wknd and then another half the first wk of May. I’m looking forward to the half I think it’s becoming my new fav distance…

So, I pretty much HATE eggs.. I don’t know if its the smell or texture or what however I have just started eating egg while omlets filled with red pepers, onions and LOTS of cheese… I’m not sure if all the stuff inside makes it healthy anymore but I feel at least I’m trying…. Kind of

Reply

Good luck at your 5K!

Reply

I like poached eggs :)

I was the worst eater in high school…things like pop tarts and chex mix for lunch and ate out all the time for dinner. I thought it didn’t matter because I was skinny but I always felt really awful after soccer practice, probably because I wasn’t fueling at all!

Reply

I was sort of a normal eater in high school…I wouldn’t say I was particularly picky by any means, but I will say that I am much more adventurous now!

I have a half marathon this Saturday in Charlotte!! It was my first one ever last year, and will be my fourth to date, so it holds a special little place in my heart. It is SUPER hilly though (you wouldn’t think it, but Charlotte is very hilly) and my right shin muscle (tibialis anterior- I looked it up last night :)) has been bothering me, so that is frustrating, but hopefully it will be a good race!

I wouldn’t say that I am neccessarily in marathon training, but I would say that the ultimate goal for this year is a marathon in the fall!

I love all eggs, all ways :)

Reply

I like fried eggs (fried in coconut oil..mmm) Sorry to hear you have food poisoning, that is seriously the worst!

Reply

I hope your stomach is back to normal soon. :-( I’m marathon training right now and my race is about a month away! I’m cross training today and reading blogs on the stationary bike.

PS French fries are never a bad decision. :-)

Reply

I’m allergic to eggs ): I’m not deathly allergic, but I have to steer clear of a few really good foods which makes me really sad. It means no French toast or raw cookie dough! Also, no mayonnaise, but I’m more than okay with that. (: Next race is in about 7 weeks. Hooray.

Reply

I was incredibly picky in high school. I pretty much lived on candy.

Reply

Great work on the treadmill, have to do what works best for your body. I sy the burger and fries are super dilicious, no other reason.

Eating Habits – fast food, fast food, fast food
Weeks Til Race – About 3 weeks, Pat Tillman Race, 4.2 miles
Marathon Training – Not in that mode right now, but will be in a few weeks, our first marathon is next February.

I’m all about scrambled eggs, yum! I really like mixing in veggies and even shrimp!

I think I have about 9 weeks until my next race. Getting excited/impatient, I love races!

Reply

I ate terribly in high school! I have no idea how I used to eat fast food and soda and then go to field hockey or track practice. I could never do that now. I have 5 days until my race!!I am kind of picky when it comes to eggs and only like them scrambled.

Reply

I prefer scrambled eggs with cheese and salsa. So good! I can’t believe how grown up Brooke is looking! I remember when she was just a little babe!

Reply

Haha I love the smiley face in that quiche!

Reply

I will eat eggs pretty much any way you will give them to me. I love eggs too much! The mountains in Utah are too gorgeous. It’s so pretty that it almost looks like a fake backdrop. Lol!

Reply

Depends on my mood, but right now I’m preferring them “fried”. Which I don’t understand why they are called fried, they aren’t really fried haha they are just cooked in and oiled pan, I don’t cook my in an oiled pan and call it “fried”. Oh my diet was horrible in high school haha pizza this, pizza that. Waffle this, waffle that. Ice cream this, Ice cream that.

Reply

I’m pretty sure that I survived off McDonalds and KD when I was a teen  Good times. And Mentos will always remind me of Europe. I remember visiting family in Poland when I was really young and falling in love with Mentos. The fruity kind are the best ones, and I especially love the ones where the entire package is pink ones. :D

Reply

Oh my eating habits were pretty bad in high school…. lots of sugar and processed crap for me!

That quiche looks delicious! I’ve overdosed on bacon, egg and cheese sandwhiches during my pregnancy so maybe I’ll switch it up and make a quiche. :)

Reply

Sorry to hear your stomach isn’t doing well – I had food poisoning when I studied abroad in Mexico. It.was.awful.

I was supposed to run in a half marathon in a couple weeks, but I got a new job as Director of Marketing at a coffee company. YAY! So, anyway I have to go to a coffee convention in Seattle (I know such hard work). Luckily, I found out there is a 10K for the convention and I might see if I can get in on the action :-)

hmmm, tough call on eggs. I like them all ways really, but I’m a grab n’ go girl these days so hard boiled is perfect for that! I like mine with salt n’ pepper!

Reply

To bad your missing your half but hopefully you can get in on that 10K

Reply

I have the brooklyn half marathon coming up in April!

Reply

Just kidding – I meant mid may. Too early, not enough coffee yet. :)

Reply

Good luck at the Brooklyn half

Reply

I vaguely remember eating Snickers and a Dr. Pepper for lunch in high school…
2 1/2 weeks until my next 1/2 marathon!
That quiche looks amazing and I’m definitely saving the recipe :) I like my eggs scrambled.

Reply

Good luck at your half marathon

Reply

That looks like a delicious quiche! I might have to make it tonight!!

My eating habits were pretty bad in high school. My typical lunch included soda, candy and french fries. :/ It was hard to break my soda addiction (my track coach in college encouraged me to), so I can understand your relationship with diet coke. :)

Reply

I love my eggs allllll the ways!

Reply

I have the Fitness Mag Women’s half this Sunday! After I get hit with the stomach bug, forget it – I can’t eat normal for so long and stick to bland things and mainly carbs. In fact, the last time I had a stomach virus is exactly when I became a vegetarian (a little over two years ago)!

That quiche looks delicious! I do a quiche to celebrate Mother’s Day with my MIL, and I am going to use this recipe this time!

Where did you get Brooke’s shoes???? I need those for my daughter!

Reply

I ate so unhealthy during high school holy cow! I would eat fast food all the time and my sugar consumption was waaaay to much!

Reply

My eating habits in high school were so bad…which I think is part of why I am picky now! At least my whole junior year I went out for lunch with the a few friends and had a plain bagel and a Starbucks frappachino everyday! When I think about how much money I would have now if I didn’t do that :)….

Reply

Chick Fil A french fries are pretty much amazing, so I don’t know who wouldn’t be obsessed with those!

Reply

So, I was a candy and Diet Coke junky in high school…I still am, secretly. I do eat a lot more fruits and veggies now. So…has anyone told you to try Sweet Acidopholus milk? Eating yogurt with pro-biotics? That can sometimes help a weird stomach get back in line. I hate stomach issues!

Reply

I at health in high school thanks to my mom packing my lunch every day. :) I usually had a sandwich with some crackers and fruit. We couldn’t leave the campus at lunch time so that helped out a lot. I love eggs and which-a-way. My son loves them too so thanks for the inspiration! I need to make a quiche asap.

Reply

** I was pretty healthy…. <- not sure what happened with my typing there!

Reply

I’m pretty sure I haven’t had a Mentos since I was like 10 years old…it’s been a while! And I love the looks of that quiche, although confession: I’m not big on pie crust :-S
Eating habits in high school? waffles, poptarts, granola bars and chicken fingers. Basically, that was 95% of my diet. Maybe a sandwich if I was feeling healthy that day.

Reply

Feel better!!!

Reply

Cute pictures of Brooks as always! :) My eating habits in high school were awful until my senior year! I’m in pre-marathon training mode right now, can’t wait to get more serious here soon! I am all about eggs, and I love a good scrambled!

Reply

I’m addicted to Mentos!!! I’m also addicted to eggs, I like scrambled the best!

I was a really picky eater in high school, but what I did like wasn’t healthy by any means! Luckily with sports I had a high metabolism and was able to get away with it!

Marathon in less than 4 weeks… eeek!

Just started the taper. NJ marathon in 19 days. Woo hoo!!
I am a scrambled egger eater 99 percent of the time.

French fries should be their own food group :)

Good Luck With NJ Marathon

I love scrambled eggs…. so much. I probably eat a ridiculous amount of eggs because of it. They’re so cheap and full of protein though! The fun part of eating eggs in china is you have to wash them before cracking them because of all the fun remnants left on them… gross.

I have no races on the horizon and I try not to think about what I ate in high school… I remember a lot of poptarts and bagels though.

Reply

Sorry to hear about your stomach. Have u tried probiotics? That should work and get u back on track.
Brooke looks like a tiny brunette Curly in that first picture. So cute.
Your quiche looks delicious. I have to try it. I love eggs. I eat them almost every day. I will eat them any way they are prepared.

Reply

I like my eggs in every way! Seriously so good and cannot get enough of them. My current favourite is either fried or scrambled!

Reply

Haha I had to laugh at this post title. So cute!

And wow! You’re so tan! Jeaaaaaalous!

I was in marathon training, but I just ran my first one on Sunday! So I am in recovery mode now! I love my eggs either scrambled or over easy and really runny! Lately, I have been on an over easy egg kick!

Congrats On Completing Your First Marathon

Oh no, I haven’t commented in a week and my computer deleted my saved name, email and website. Rude. LOL.

I’m glad you are back and enjoyed your trip out there. It looked like a lot of fun. I hate running at night so if it doesn’t happen early morning, it’s probably not happening.

I’ll be in marathon mode come summer time I believe. For now I’m in relaxation mode. ha ha.

Reply

In high school I ate a lot of salads. Hmmm, I eat a lot of salads now. I also loved candy and sugar. Again, nothing has changed much. Either I’m boring or I figured out long ago what I love. :)

No races on the schedule for me. Maybe after this baby is born?

Love eggs sunny side up with the yoke a little runny. And I love to eat them on toast.

Reply

Loved deviled eggs!
In high school I always had a Dasani Lemon Water and Butterfinger Crisp at lunch. Staples I still laugh about when I think of it.
My next race is April 19 and I’m so unprepared for this half marathon!!! Terrifying.

Good Luck At Your Half, You’ll Be Ready, Run Smooth And Have Fun

Mmm, waffle fries are so good! And yes Mentos totally remind me of High School too!

Reply

For your tummy, for the next few days or so, I’d just heat up some plain veggie broth and start eating that for a few dinners. It’s easy on your tummy, plus the sodium will help replace some of that that you lose when you were so sick!

Reply

Awwww cute picture of her at the park with the little boy ;)

Mmmmm quiche!

I am sorry about your tummy-ouch! I’d find someone who has some doTERRA digestzen oil or capsules–it soothes the tummy like no ones business!

No marathon training for me but I do have a half marathon coming up this Sunday!

That picture of Brooke doing the bird call is to die for. She is so cute.

I hate a short mentos phase this pregnancy a few weeks ago. The purple ones were my favorite :)

I usually ate 4 Otis chocolate chip cookies and a rootbeer for lunch in high school. Or replaced the cookies with a chocolate chocolate chip muffin. Or just had McDonalds. So to say I was a terrible eater would be quite the understatement. lol.

I had 2 hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper on them this morning. I also like scrambled and quiche mode. I can’t do them runny. at. all. And they are always best with pico and avocado. I think I will have to try your quiche. It looks so yummy!

I don’t think I could run away from a lion who was chasing me at 7.02mile/min. Nicely done!

The little people kisses are adorable! Glad you got a snapshot of it – she’ll love it when she’s older!

5 weeks until my next race and I am so excited, mostly because I’m doing it with family and there will more than likely be a pool party and bloody mary bar after the race :)

I am sort of in marathon training mode, my marathon isn’t until October and I have a few half marathons before then so I guess I’ll just have a good base mileage of half marathon distance and then add to that.

I like my eggs in migas, in tacos, in breakfast casserole, hard boiled on a salad, deviled eggs, poached on eggs benedict, basically just about every way

Reply

My eating habits in high school varied. Towards the beginning they were pretty good, but around senior year when I started running it was all over. ;) But hey, running’s healthy right? I like to think it somewhat balanced out…
5 weeks until my next race!
I’m not marathon training but I am half-marathon training (for the race in 5 weeks).
I’m not a huge fan of eggs, but somehow I LOVE quiche. It’s bad, and I’m really craving it right now. :)

Reply

I actually ate much better in high school than I do now – gave up soda and sugar for cross country training and ate home cooked meals every night. Wish I still had that kind of discipline!

Love poached eggs and sometimes scrambled, especially in a tortilla. I wish my kids loved eggs, that is great that Brooke is so into them. Hope you feel better soon!

Reply

Your blog is boring me to death and I’m sure many others can agree. It’s obvious from the number of comments that your readership level is going down. Maybe if you want to keep feeding Brooke and yourself, how about making your blog more relatable and interesting? It’s for your own good anyhow. Just a suggestion.

Reply

My next race is this Sunday!! So excited!! Since you’re super into potatoes right now, you might be interested in my hash brown quiche. You use hash browns as the crust. Sooo good!

Reply

I didn’t eat very well in high school… I started to change the way I ate when I moved out to go to University and started learning to cook. :)

Reply

I had a trail race on Sunday and I have a road half marathon this Sunday!

I’m a big fan of scrambled eggs… With bacon, lots of very crisp bacon!

Reply

I am a fried egg sandwich lover!

The eating moment from high school my sister will not let me forget is when I was making a personal tomestone pizza and she says “so you are having pizza for lunch?” And I said “no this is just my appetizer” and went on to make a whole other lunch. I had a great appitite back then I guess!

Reply

Less than 2 weeks until the Boston Marathon! In taper mode.

I like my eggs scrambled or over easy.

Did you enjoy the NEW grilled chicken sandwich at CFA?? I think its delicious…but I liked the char grilled also.

Logging mega miles (around 60/week) in preparation for Grandma’s marathon in Duluth, MN (June 21). Having issues with my meniscus and debating whether I dare go to the doctor. Don’t really want to pay for an MRI or get sidelined from my training. Anyone else have meniscus problems?

Reply

I have about seven weeks before my marathon (M2B!). Can’t wait!
And yes, the gym where I am gets so busy at night. I have to get in super early or super late.

I will pretty much eat eggs no matter how they are served. They are freaking delicious.

Brooke’s hair is so freaking adorable. I love it.

No races for me on the horizon, but they do say giving birth is like a marathon, right?

Reply

Could never get into sunny-side up, I always felt like they weren’t cooked. I’m all for omelets. Does french toast count as eating eggs?

Reply

I never comment, but OMG Brooke looks SOOO much like your sister in the bird call photo! Hope your belly is better. GI issues are the worst! I like my home treadmill when my belly is acting up too bc the bathroom is right next door :)

Reply

I have the same problem when it comes to our treadmill at home vs at the gym. I usually will only do short runs at home because the treadmill doesn’t have as much give as the one at the gym. I feel like it is easier on my legs!

Reply

feel free to pass me some of those waffles fries ;) I’ll take my eggs anyway, but I particularly like the egg in the nest style when you fry the egg into a piece of bread with it’s center cut out.

You are sooooooooooo tan, you gorgeous girl…I am jealous!!! :)
Next race: a half in five days, Boston in 13!!!!:)

What were your eating habits like in high school? Total crap. LOL!

How many weeks until your next race? 5. Yikes!

Who is in marathon training mode right now? Well, half marathon but I’m in the zone.

How do you prefer your eggs? When I go out to my favorite diner I like them poached but I’m not too picky. I don’t eat them too often though.

That quiche recipe looks yummy! I’ll have to try it!

That’s really interesting about your treadmill… I wonder why?
I could die with how cute Brooke looks in the bird call photo. She looks like she’s blowing kisses and those little pony tail buds. *swoon*

I had terrible eating habits in high school – lots of french fries and skittles!

I’m a big fan of fried egg sandwiches, though I sometimes scramble them and make a little taco style snack.

I would say my eating in high school is pretty healthy since I’m in high school right now :) My next race is my first track meet a week from today ahh!! I looove quiches but I usually make either sunny side up or scrambled :)
