Worth the ticket to Thailand.

The incredible fresh fruit sold on the side of the road is worth the plane ticket $ to get to Thailand.  I am a candyaholic and I promise this stuff is better than all of my favorite candies (swedish fish, skittles and milky ways) combined (not actually combining those candies but just combining how good all of those candies are).

I am in love with walking around the streets of Bangkok while eating fresh fruit (that costs like 30 cents) in a bag.

$6 for a 60 minute incredible Thai Traditional Massage.  This will be on my daily to do list.  It was incredible.

Our cab driver back home.  I don’t know if I will ever get used to driving on the left side of the road (or the middle of the road;) and it keeps freaking me out.

IMG 9708

After we got back we took it to the pool to attempt to cool off a little bit and it worked.  I don’t miss the snow one bit.

IMG 0301

For dinner my friends took me to their absolute favorite restaurant in the area.  I love having foodies (and personal tour guides) for friends.

IMG 0302

3 words—>  fried mozzarella sticks.  Everything was amazing, especially the feta salad and pita bread.

IMG 0306

The star of the night was this TOAST!?!?  I was skeptical of this but it was by far the best dessert I have had in months.  The toast was topped with butterscotch toffee and ice cream.

IMG 0307

After dessert we walked around downtown Bangkok and we travel in style over here… three to a scooter… not scary at all.

IMG 9713

We are off to go explore what my friends tell me is the hottest place in the entire world:)  I am forced to drink more water than diet coke while I am here to prevent dehydrating… Maybe this will translate over to when I get back home.  Maybe.

PS I have found the world’s best yogurt.  My friend buys this stuff and it is imported from France.  It tastes like ice cream and it comes in a clay container.

I am in love with these recaps. However, you are not helping me curb my desire to go to Thailand immediately!

No run today, sad story but I seem to have badly damaged my foot. No doc appt until tomorrow but I think something is either broken or a very deep bone bruise. I’m going to the pool instead for my long “run.” :(

Reply

I also am in love with these recaps. My food is nothing in comparison to what you are eating. I did however have a strawberry, blueberry, feta, and walnut salad for lunch yesterday. And am about to have pancakes for Sunday breakfast.

Reply

I ran yesterday and am taking today off. 8 miles yesterday. Less than 2 weeks till my 1/2 marathon!!! I am praying for nice weather! That fruit looks amazing and would be SO much more $ here!!!!…and a $6 massage!!! That is awesome!
I went to FResh Market for the first time yesterday! I LOVE that place…no $.30 fruit that’s for sure :)!

Reply

$6 for a 60 minute massage? Umm, yeah. There.

21.07 miles yesterday (I think I strained my calf – ouch – lots of icing) and a 45 minute recovery run on the schedule today. It’s supposed to be 75 in Kansas City today, so we’re hitting the trails!

Reply

No running, and I just cant get past that dessert, yum!

Had a half marathon yesterday which was fun! My IT band isn’t happy though. Then got the phone call from Eric that he was in the ER and his appendix burst. I rushed the 45 minutes to the hospital and have been by his side pretty much since they wheeled him to his room.

Looks like you are having a great time over there ! Eat plenty of fresh tropical fruit for me. Glad you are having an adventure :)

Oh wow- what an amazing trip!
Your weekend is by FAR more fun than mile (dealing with nasty Maine weather and getting in my 2nd to last long run before Boston are the highlights. Haha…)
I’m loving the updates so keep them coming but most of all, have a BLAST!!!

Reply

Have you had sugar cane drink in a bag? It will rot your teeth but damn it is delicious!

Reply

Looks like you are having a BLAST! way to be ballsy and take a scooter selfie while on the road!

Ps a $6 massage is all I need to know to book my plane ticket asap.

Reply

Everything about Thailand sounds amazing! Especially the $6 massages!!!! I’m not much of a traveler, but I’ll have to put this on my bucket list! :)

No running for me–I’m injured. It looks like it’s going to be warm enough next week to start biking outside though, so I’m really excited about that! The trainer bores me to death!

Reply

Oh wow! I have never had the desire to visit Thailand, until now. I am really enjoying your posts with all the interesting food!!!

No run for me today. I did my long run yesterday (15miles). It’s a freezing rain storm here in Nova Scotia right now and everything is covered in ice. :(

Reply

It sounds like you’re having an incredible time!! :)

Reply

I agree!~ You need that massage every single day!

We found an awesome new trail yesterday. We hiked it then and I have plans to go back to run it today.

The best thing I ate this weekend was a Chipotle veggie bowl for lupper yesterday. (Mid-afternoon meal. I was working during lunch, so I had lupper and then didn’t need dinner.) It had been a whole week since I’d had one. It was time!

Reply

Do your friends live there? It looks so amazing.

Reply

What does your friend do over there?

Looks like an amazing trip. My friend was a Fulbright Scholar and had the time of her life. Amazing culture!

Reply

Wow…. it looks like you are having such a great time! You’re making me jealous! ;) I’m obsessed with fruit, so I’m wanting to go to Thailand just for the fruit… oh and that toast… yum! Love the pic of you on the motor scooter!

Reply

Love that selfie of you on the scooter!

Best thing I’ve eaten was my lunch salad yesterday. I topped it with talapia and some kind of specialty cheese from Spain the in-laws gifted us. I’m in mourning now because that was the last of the talapia and what will I put on my salad today!? Oh the trials.

That fruit sounds incredible. Please keep eating more for me so I can live vicariously through you.

Reply

Dad does not approve of the scooter. You look happy however so what can I say. Love you!

But I have my helmet on:)

Looks like fun! I’m sitting in my sauna writing this missing Bangkok so much! It’s WINDY in Utah today. Ran 7 miles on Eddie the Treadie this morning. Have a great trip!

$6 FOR A MASSAGE!!! Talk about inflation in America…usually pay $60 for an hour massage at least! Looks like a blast! Does Thailand feel safe? I am always nervous to go to a new place!

You look absolutely gorgeous in that picture up there! It sounds like you’re having a blast, and you totally deserve it! Love living vicariously through you in what seems like an amazing country! Would love to know more about your friend’s life over there once you get back. I think we all want to move over there and be just like her! :)

Reply

Wow! Looks like you are having a great time! I trotted 2 miles this morning, but I’m most proud of the 55 treadmill minutes I logged yesterday.

The food I’ve eaten lately doesn’t compare to what you’ve been dining on!

Reply

I ran 7 miles yesterday and am going to get in a short easy run here shortly. Just to let my legs shake out a bit. It looks like you are having a BLAST! I am jealous as we just got hit with another round of now which is SO annoying! I am over winter and all that comes with it.

Reply

$6 for a 60 minute massage is amazing! I may need to move my trip to Thailand up so that I can experience this asap! :)

I could really use a leg massage after my 10-miles yesterday. I ended up doing a progression run and was feeling great and fast in my last mile, but as soon as I was done my body was like, “you must sit down right now” :)

Reply

Sounds like such an amazing time! I ran 15 miles yesterday and it felt great. Rest day today! I can’t wait to see what you do today. :-)

Looks like you are having a blast!

I just got back from the Oregon Coast last night and now am desperately wishing I was back…goodbye Spring Break!

No run today or at all this week but I did go on lots of walks. Probably won’t run today, gotta unpack and get ready for the week.

Best thing I ate this weekend (well last week) was Mo’s clam chowder on Friday…it was amazing!!!!

Reply

So glad you’re having a great time Janae!! $6 massages??? I may have to retire in Thailand!!

Reply

I just got engaged on Friday! I’m driving into Vancouver this morning to tell my Granny, so afterwards I’m going to go running on the Seawall right on the ocean. It should be a great day!

Reply

Love the photos & updates! Best thing I had this weekend to eat was vegan chocolate cake with strawberry frosting and toasted coconut. And I could totally go for a $6 massage! Have fun!

Ran 6 miles today! The longest run I’ve done outside in months. It felt great to be outside, still a little cool for my liking, but I’ll take it over the cold winter we’ve had in WI.

Reply

Hey lady! Loving the pics form Thailand! I didn’t run today – my knee is giving me some trouble, and I’m gonna stick to something a little more low-impact, so I’m gonna hop on the elliptical after I write for a few hours. Keep up posted about how cool Thailand is!

Reply

A $6 massage? Totally worth the plane fair! :D And that yogurt … *swoon*

Reply

wow, now I need to put thailand on my list of places to travel too. It sounds so amazing! I did my first half-marathon today and celebrated with a massive plate of chocolate chip pancakes.

My husband & I did 6km this morning on side by side treadmills — a great start to the day! :)

Reply

I think I finally finished my April lesson plans (procrastinate much?) Which means I can reward myself with a run!

I’m about to head to the basement (where my treadmill lives) for 6 miles. I’m hoping it will be the reward I’m treating it as!

The best thing I ate this weekend was probably dinner last night – a fried egg sandwich on an english muffin with avocado and sriracha. Delicious! Though your post just made me want some fruit!

Reply

I bought that yogurt in Paris last summer!!! It was DELICIOUS!!!!

I am so glad you are having an awesome time :) that dessert is to die for, it is 7.30am here in Oz and i am craving that dessert ha ha ha maybe thats because i was a naughty girl and skipped my running session this morning.

It must be so hot and humid there? but it looks like loads of fun, i am going there next year, so cant wait. Have fun xo

OMG I wish they sold fruit on the street ready to eat like that here! And I am so jealous of the warm weather and that you are swimming. It is sleeting and snowing here. So I didn’t get in a run today :( And yesterday’s 6 mile run was done in the rain!

Reply

Oh I am jealous of the fresh fruit! – and that scooter ride looks like a ton of fun!!

Ran my first half marathon today! (in Berlin)
Best food of the day: a ton of sushi and then gelato for a late dessert.

Wishing you the best time in Thailand! (Which, in fact, it looks like it is!)

We’re in Utah today!! We drove in from Cali and head off to Colorado tomorrow. I’m really excited to run on part of the St. George marathon course tomorrow because I’d love to run that race one day! :)

Reply

This Thai massage you speak of…is it the one where they stretch you into all sorts of positions? Or is it something different, the way French fries are chips in England?

Reply

Ah, I could seriously use a 60 minute massage for $6!!!!! Keep the recaps coming, I’m enjoying living vicariously through your adventures!!!

Reply

You are killing me! Definitely need to go to Thailand now. :)

Reply

I clocked no miles this weekend due to play dates, birthday parties, and life (i’m sooo sad and stressing because I have a half marathon this weekend.. should be interesting to say these least).

While my food fails in comparison to yours, my hubs did bring home girl scout Tagalongs…. when he pulled them out of the box, it was like I could hear angels singing lol. No but seriously, I won’t buy them for myself and I’ve been craving them like crazy!!!!

Have a mentioned I’m sooo jealous of your trip… I’m totally trying to figure out how I can squeeze it in next yr! Keep the pics coming!

Reply

I am so jealous of the food! I just ate a bowl of cheerios and am feeling very inferior. Also, it is snowing here, so your life really wins today :)

I haven’t run yet, but that’s next on the agenda after I get off the internet.

Reply

Considering the most exciting thing I had to eat yesterday was a bowl of Rice Chex this post is killing me with all the delicious food! :)

I did get a run in and it was amazing!

Reply

I wonder what is in the candy fruit? Do they add sugar to it or what to make it taste that good? The massages in Asia are amazing and so cheap! If only they were that inexpensive here. Your scooter face is too funny!

Reply

I ran 7 miles on a whim yesterday and it felt WONDERFUL! Loving finally having 60 degree weather. Best thing I ate this weekend was the cashew chicken coconut curry that I made

That toast!?!?! Looks like honey toast from Shokudo Japanese restaurant in Honolulu. I NEED some of that!!

Ran yesterday (Sunday) – 8.5 miles. It felt great! Spring is finally on its way here in MI. Best thing I ate this weekend? This Chorizo Mac & Cheese – – delish! http://thenourishedolive.com/2014/03/30/chorizo-mac-and-cheese/
