Getting nervous.

If I didn’t have these two girls to meet this morning there is no way that I would have gotten out of my warm bed to go run in 20something degree weather.  Sure glad I did though.  7.2 easy miles filled with great conversation.  You would think after trillions of miles together we would run out of things to talk about but nope…  I always wish we had more time together in the morning to talk.  I am loving that it is getting light towards the end of our runs.

One of the most important life lessons that I have learned from my mom is to love breakfast foods with all of your heart.   My sis and I took her to her favorite breakfast spot for her birthday.

IMG 0241

Denver omelet.  A great change from my normal daily oatmeal.

IMG 0239

Halfway through the meal Brooke decided that she is way too big for high chairs and that she needed to sit next to grandma.

IMG 0242

We got some quality reading time in after breakfast.

And to show mother nature how ready I am for summer I made the best purchases that I have made in a long long time.  A puppy pool for our deck and a swimsuit for the Brookers.  We will be living outside this summer.

IMG 9299

A bunch of hours later and I went with my sis to pick up her kids and we took them for the good stuff to celebrate something awesome that my niece has been doing.

As I was watching the below scene I started getting really nervous for when these two are teenagers together driving around and ya know… just being teenagers.

I love a big breakfast after a long run! It’s crazy to think out kids will be teenagers some day!

Happy bday to mom again! I hope you have a great dessert planned for tonight. :-)

Hated my teenage years! So glad they’re over.

Omelets with cheese, green peppers, olives (sorry!), and ham are delicious.

There isn’t a Target in Cache Valley! I know, I practically live in the wilderness. :)

Favorite meal of the day is, by far, dessert.

Happy birthday to your mom! Awesome people are born on March 19th (I happen to know because I’m one of them). :)

Happy birthday Liz! I hope you are having an amazing day. I love your answer to your favorite meal of the day:)

Mushrooms, avocado, and green onions are the best omelette toppings! I think I bought cereal at Target last :) Breakfast is hands-down my favourite meal of the day!!

Love that you are back up and running! I wish I had some great running girls too!

I think like most teenagers I was anxious to grow up and go away to college. I wish I had just enjoyed my last years at home more! I was a quiet, good kid with a bad shopping habit :) I think my parents were worried that I would starve in college because I would spend all my money on purses and shoes. I grew out of that stage in college though.

I really wish I had started running during my teenage years — I hated it so much! oops!

That is the BEST picture of curly and Brooke! HAHAHAHA A look into the future. By the way, holy curly’s hair has gotten super long. Why won’t my hair grow that fast?

Reply

That omelet is making my mouth water! Love Brooke’s pig tails!

Reply

best omelet ingredients ever was bacon, onion and FIGS. I don’t know how i had never thought to put them in before. Thank you Wildberry Pancakes Cafe (Chicago!)

I’m not a big omelet fan, I’d rather have scrambled eggs with salsa or eggs over easy.

Last thing I bought at Taget was a potty training seat for my 2.5 yr old. So far he’s not interested in it, but I’m hoping the diapers I bought were my last box!

Reply

-Teenager: least favorite era. 20s and 30s so far have been incredible.
-Omelet: Salsa and hot sauce are a must. And lots of salt. haha, but I like salt on everything.
-Target: bought a new blow dryer that I am obsessed with. I swear it dries my hair faster and makes it look better.
-RANDOM QUESTION FOR YOU!: What brand maternity support belt did you like for running?

Hey Julia!!! CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!! You look absolutely adorable. I am so excited for you. I loved this one:

Would you mind me asking what brand hairdryer you bought? I desperately need a new one. Thanks

Reply

Haha Lindsey I was about to ask the same thing! Please share with us!! :)

Reply

haha, I bought a John Frieda blow dryer for ~$40. The last one I had was many many years old (I think it used to be my moms), so not sure if the new blow dryer is truly amazing or just relatively amazing since my last one was so bad. Either way, I’m happy with the purchase : )

Reply

Thanks for sharing – I desperately need a new one and I’m less than 3 months from my wedding so I don’t want something that will destroy my hair. Thanks for the help!! :)

I was a very well-behaved teenager… and too busy with sports and school activities to get myself into trouble, which was a good thing. :)
Sausage, bacon and any/all cheese!
I bought a giftcard from Target for my cousin’s birthday. :)
I love breakfast!! I had sausage and gravy, scrambled eggs and a pancake this morning… it was awesome. :)

Reply

I was a well rounded teenager who behaved for the most part (I got a little rowdy my senior year in high school but nothing too bad) Last thing I bought at Target was shamrock stickers and jelly beans. Bacon, cheese, peppers and salsa on my omlette please! I can’t believe how LONG Curly’s hair has gotten, please don’t say she’s losing those cute curls :(
Hapy birthday once again you your momma :)

Reply

I loved my teenage years. I thought they were going to be the best years of my life but it’s true….life gets better as you age! Last item bought at Target was candy before a movie :) Hard to choose a favorite meal. I love them all equally and don’t ever miss a meal or a snack. Ever.

Reply

Happy Birthday to your mom!!

I think my favourite meal of the day is…all of them? I love eating lol. Sometimes I like breakfast best though. My fave breakfast food is eggs benedict, its just magical.

Reply

The puppy pool made me think of Maggie. How is she doing?? She hasn’t been on the blog in awhile!

Reply

I loved my teenage years! I was out all the time and past my curfew weekly and very social but looking back, I really wasn’t crazy rebellious and if my future kids turn out like me, I’ll be happy it isn’t as crazy as so many others turn out!

Reply

Target – coconut M & M’s to make your cookie recipe that you just posted! ;) (They were just what the Dr. ordered.)
Omelet – all the veggies in the world! and hot sauce
Fave meal – snack times! :)

Reply

Rebellious as all heck! Luckily my 16 yo daughter has been the exact opposite :)
I love Omelets when someone other than me makes them with avacado and sour cream on top then stuffed with tomatoes or salsa, green peepers, bacon, onions, lots of cheese!
I bought batteries, bronzer and birthday cake M&M’s (new obsession) at Target on Monday, always something!
I love breakfast for any meal, eggs, english muffins w/butter and jam, bacon, sausage and of course any kind of potatoes!

Reply

Hands down breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.
I like my omelette with just feta cheese and spinach usually.
I used to put whipped cream cheese and onion in them.

I was a pretty good kid in high school but got caught cutting out of classes one day and my mom was so devastated.

Last target purchase was paper goods and plastic storage bins. Boring.

Reply

I was maybe a little too well behaved. Haha I never even asked for exceptions to the rule so I probably missed out on fun things because I was content to not ask. Woe is me! ;)

Reply

Rebellious is an understatement. I “borrowed” my parents’ car after they fell asleep, that sort of thing. I turned out fine, though. Luckily. It doesn’t always end this well.

Reply

Fantastic you took your mom out for a birthday breakfast, those are good times. Brooke driving got me thinking of my baby girls driving, now I’m super nervous!!

Teenage years – Enjoyed them very much, well behaved with some mishaps here and there.
Bought at Target – I think some Hello Kitty stuff for the baby girl.
Meal of the Day – I have to say dinner, only meal during the week I get with my family.

I only remember getting in trouble 1x as a teen. I was pretty good. My parents treated me like an adult. I bought most of my own things, had jobs, stayed home a lot.

Love breakfast, but we only go big on the weekends.

Our last Target purchase was a birthday gift for a neighbor.

Happy Birthday to HRGM.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! I go to sleep excited to eat breakfast. Not a huge omelet person because I love runny yolks and soft boiled eggs too much…BUT I do love Target. I think the last thing I bought there was one of their t-shirt bras. The only non-sports-bras I wear.

Reply

My favorite omelet topping would be salsa. I was an in between teen. I was well behaved but definitely had my share of fun. My last Target purchase was a new iPod for my son’s birthday.

Reply

I was definitely a well behaved teenager. I’ve always been that way.
Brooke’s hair is getting so long! Her little bows are adorable.

Did you enjoy your teenage years? Were you rebellious, well-behaved or somewhere in between?

I’m technically still in my teenage years… But I have always been the super morally sound and innocent one among my friends.

Favorite omelet toppings or add-ins?

I’m pretty basic! Just spinach is great, but peppers and mushrooms are also awesome add ins. Top it off with ketchup or hot sauce.

Last thing you bought at Target?

Tea!

Favorite meal of the day?

Breakfast. Always.

Reply

Overall I enjoyed my teenage years- I spent most of my weeks of summer at a camp and had a great time. And I was definitely a well-behaved child…

Reply

My favorite omelet is a crab meat with feta from a restaurant in VA Beach. It is excellent. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day (shocking I know). Although I have been having a lot more eggs lately.

I was not really a well behaved teenager…I think I might have been worse behaved than in college.

Reply

Breakfast is the best. I kind of like arugula, kale, and.. (kinds of odd) romaine lettuce mixed in my eggs. The lettuce stays kind of crunchy.

I recently bought a sports-bra for $3 at Target; I always find $3 sports-bras there on clearance. I also bought a wide-banded headband after seeing all of the headbands in your photos! Plus Angie’s CONFETTI-cake Popcorn.. it’s seasonal for Easter, and it was out of this world!

Reply

I agree with your Mom that breakfast is the best! I could have it for any meal. I usually, actually always, get bacon and cheese in my omelette.

It is so difficult to go into Target without buying everything!! I think I bought some new shampoo and hair mousse last time at Target, which is very good for me to not be tempted into buying clothes.

Reply

Happy Birthday to your mom! :-) Love the puppy pool – so cute!!

Reply

Ah, the teenage years….I was a rebel without a clue!

Reply

I suggested a lunch date in my comment this morning, but I have to say that breakfast is a way better choice — well played ;) Breakfast is easily my favourite meal of the day, and I’d happily eat breakfast foods all day if I could. Oh who am I kidding, sometimes I do :D

Reply

Now you have me craving pancakes!

I pretty much like all meals equally, but since lately dinner is when I have time to make anything fancy, I’m going to have to say dinner! Tonight is veggie chicken, roasted asparagus and quinoa with a dijon mustard sauce, and a spinach salad on the side.

Excited to get home and cook!

How’s your daddy-o and Maggie these days? You haven’t posted about them in a while. I hope everything is good with them!

Reply

Last time I went to target I only bought new shaving blades and I somehow that’s all I bought! I don’t think I’ve ever made it out of there with just one thing.

Breakfast is my very favorite meal – especially when waffles are involved.

I was somewhere in between when I was a teenager but more towards the well behaved side.

That pic of your mom and Brooke is too cute.

Reply

Such adorable pics :) and the food looks soooooo yummy im hungry, might have an early lunch lol

Godbless x

I don’t think I was too bad as a teenager, but I had my moments and got in my fair share of trouble!
I cant remember the last thing I bought at target, but it was probably running clothes.
Favorite meal is dinner…second favorite is breakfast!

We bought that book at Target! My little girl LOVES that peek-a-who book. We got her to say choo choo and pump her arm at the same time, it’s awesome!

As far as my teenage years…I was the worst! I don’t regret any of it though!

Also, I wanted to tell you I’ve been following your blog since the beginning and you have given me the confidence to keep running after having a baby. Recently I’ve been training for the Indianapolis mini marathon and even though I have to get up at 4:30 AM to get in my run then teach 24 kindergartners and come home to a messy house, It’s totally worth it!

Thank you for being a positive motivator/running influence.

How Cool! It’s my Mom’s birthday today too! We are going out for BBQ to celebrate, which is her fave. I think I was a somewhere in the middle type of teenager. Went toilet papering a few times and that was about the extent of the rebellion. :) And last thing I bought at Target? Pantyhose! Which I usually avoid it if possible, but winter has turned these legs pasty white and they needed some help! So I’m excited for warmer weather and some sun finally hitting these legs!

Reply

last thing bought at Target, was Frozen, the only thing I bought.

I was a terrible teen..I hope mine will be much better

Reply

I loved my teen years! I was in that somewhere in between category. I never got in trouble and always behaved at school but me and my friends had our fair share of fun. I don’t has a favorite meal, but breakfast foods are by far my favorite!

Reply

I was pretty well-behaved as a teenager, though my mom has plenty of stories of my hormonal mood swings…

I went on a bit of a shopping spree at Target last weekend. I got a few tank tops, some new running shorts, some candy and Catching Fire, among other things.

Breakfast is definitely the best meal of the day. Especially when I have time to relax and enjoy it with some coffee!

Reply

I think bell peppers, onions, cheddar cheese, and eggs are a perfect combination.

My teenage years were pretty dull, and I’m glad they’re over. I was also probably the least rebellious teenager ever.

Reply

Love breakfast even though half the time I am eating so fast and don’t even get to enjoy it – oh well :) Your breakfast looks delicious this morning!

Reply

Happy birthday to your amazing mom!

My teen years were fun in some ways and miserable in others. I was well-behaved and pretty driven. My parents are not allowed ANY complaints ;-)

Reply

Best meal= trail mix + dark chocolate. a quality meal!

Reply

Favorite meal of the day is breakfast!
And I like to put avocado slices on my omelettes :)

Reply

Breakfast foods are def my favorite. I could eat eggs and waffles all day. I was a pretty good teen but man did I have an attitude! Just thinking about my sassy mouth makes me wnat to hug my parents and apologize!

Reply

Oh my gosh, Brooke is going to look adorable in that swimsuit!!

Favourite meal of the day for me is definitely dinner, mostly because it’s the most sociable :)

Reply

I am so ready for the sunshine and warm weather as well. Love the idea of the kiddie pool!
I love dinner the best. Lots of pasta in this house!

Reply

MY 7 yr old stepdaughter got behind the wheel of the car the other day (just playing around) and i started to get VERY nervous!!!

Lunch–> I love sandwiches!! (not that you cant have them for breakfast too, you totally can i do it AL the time) but i just love a good sandwhich and soup or salad and soup. Man! Now i’m hungry for lunch and it’s only 8:44!!!!

Reply

I bought clearance pants at Target. And then I made a quick pass through the dollar section and got some Lisa Frank stickers… and a coloring book… And then the Frozen meal time set.

Last year I got an inflatable pool and put it out on my parents driveway after a hot, humid 10k. My mom claims it “accidentally” got “ripped” while she was putting it away so she had to throw it out. Was it brutally stabbed because she hated it? The world may never know.

Reply

That omelet looks amazing. Now I want second breakfast.

I was a really good kid when I was a teenager…I really hope my own kids follow my footsteps, otherwise I’m in trouble. I did manage to have fun, though.

Reply

When did Curly’s hair get so long?! And yes, I think you guys are in trouble when those two start driving. LOL.

Reply

I was a good kid, morally that is, but I definitely partied and was pretty rebellious against my parents. My Dad and I unfortunately had a few rough years which I would give anything to take back, but have been great since college and everything happens for a reason! :)

Reply

I wish I could kidnap all you speedsters to be my running partners! I just moved to Taos, NM (small mountain town) and have nobody to train with…. my only motivation to run faster is when the coyotes start to follow me (true story)!

By the way, I am thinking of doing UVM again (ran it in 2012) to get a sub-3:05… its been one of my favorites (behind St George). So I might see you there!

Reply

Happy birthday to your mom! I’m sure she loves having everyone so close to celebrate!

Reply

Teen years: I was a train wreck. Egads.
I really only like cheese and spinach in my omelets.
I think the last Target purchase I made was a new bathing suit. I’m really excited to have found one with matching bottoms, tankini top, and bikini top!
Favorite meal of the day? Snacks. I like snacks and desssert better than most actual meals.

Reply

Last thing(s) I bought at Target was the same pair of pajamas in two different colors…I’m in love

Reply

I was such a ‘play by the rules’ girl as a teen. I never would have dreamed of staying out past curfew or sneaking out.

I am obsessed with mushrooms, so I have to add them to everything.

I buy way too many things at Target so I have to cut back to help my addiction. I think the last thing I bought was a pair of running pants.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. So much so that ‘Brinner=breakfast for dinner’ is popular in my house. :)

Reply

I love the picture of Curly and Brooke in the little car! They are going to be such good friends when they grow up :) My cousin and I are pretty close in age and we had so much fun doing cheerleading and volleyball together in middle school and high school.

Reply

My dogs names are Maverick and Goose…yes from Top Gun. I think they are the cutest dogs in the whole wide world. :)
I’m trying to up my mileage right now, but this working full time thing makes it hard. And it also makes it hard being a stay at home puppy mum :(
