You know you are a runner when:

-You believe with all of your heart that the best way to celebrate a birthday is by going to bed early on a Friday night so that you can get up early and run a ridiculous amount of miles with your girls the next morning.

Rachelle set up the course for the day as 2 10 mile loops and an 8 mile loop.  That way people could join in on different loops if they didn’t want to do the full 28 miles (Julia and Rachelle both did the full 28!!!).

I woke up freezing Saturday morning so I dressed for a blizzard… should have worn shorts.   It was beautiful out, we had great conversation and it was an ‘on’ day for running.

Rachelle even set up different water stations along the way for us.  I see her being a race director in the future.

I made it 20 miles.  My brain wanted to do the full 28 but I think 20 was plenty for me.  I am happy to get in a nice long run before I go to Thailand because let’s be honest, I don’t think I will be doing any long runs while I am there.

Stopped for an amazing slurp (I was craving it the entire run) on the way home.

THE Jess was here this weekend for 36 hours and so I got to steal some time with her to go to the Dinosaur Museum.  Brooke loved it.

And so did we.

3 lbs. of salad and a tortilla.  The pumpkin seeds in this were brilliant.

And you guessed it… lots of sugar.  It is just part of my day.

SEE YOU SOOOOOOOON.  You can’t escape me.

Great run!! I knew I was a crazy runner when I started telling people I was going to run 30 for my 30th when I get there ;)

I was doing pumpkin seeds in salad a few weeks back but I switched to green hike almonds and cashews. They are so good! Great job on 20 miles!!!

Good for you Janae! What an awesome run for you & your friends! Happy Sunday!

I love that Brooks coat you have! It would be perfect for my 5k this morning. I’ll just have to bundle up with lots of mock neck and pullover layers. At least my run will be short because it’s only 7 degrees this morning!

The salad AND cookies look amazing!! (I love it when they’re a little underbaked like those!). I love following your blog and just want to encourage you for your positive attitude and the great example you are to your daughter through hard times.

20 miles is great!! And I love the set up water stations :)

I was ‘out of the loop’ for a few weeks as I was really sick with the flu and then got bronchitis. Thought I’d jump back into running yesterday with a 5-mile race…lol So, I can’t even imagine 20 miles right now…

You have great determination!

Sounds like your weekend got off to a great start! Mine did, too. We had some great weather the past couple of days that meant time in the woods for me. Always love that!

Nice run, I am going to put running clothes on now and head out. You guys inspired me.

Awesome job on the run!

20 miles? Weren’t you injured a few weeks ago?

Reply

Yes. I only took 12 days off from running and I was in shape to run 20 miles before I took the time off so I took about 2 weeks once I started running again to get back to where I was before. We also kept the miles at a very easy pace… it will take me some more time to build back up to my normal pace for this distance. Hope you are having a great day!

Man, she tracked those 10 mile loops right on! I happen to think that’s an awesome idea for a “birthday party” though I don’t think many of my friends would go for that. Maybe for my 27th I can get them to run 2.7 miles with me ;)

Love your last line. Enjoy your Sunday :)

A birthday run is so fun! 20 miles is more than enough if you want my opinion – totally awesome. I would love to organize a birthday run with friends but would you believe none of my friends run?

Yay for 20! I did 19 yesterday morning. :-) Enjoy your rest day! I’ll be celebrating rest day with a big breakfast and then lots of ice cream later. :-)

I ran 21 miles in the rain this morning. I have never been so wet. But it is part of marathon training. Mentally if I can do 21 in the rain, I can do 26. Now to get a giant burger!

TWENTY MILES OMGGGG. Happy happy birthday :) Some day I hope to get to the point where I run 20 miles just because I think it’s fun… right now the thought of 20 makes me want to cry.

Can I ask a running question? Why do you wear compression socks during your runs? When I look up different websites that sell compression socks they seem to only mention the benefits of wearing them AFTER a run, not during one. I’m training for my first marathon and it’s going really well. But around mile 16 my calves get really tight. Not so much that I can’t run, but enough that I need to fix it. Is that why you wear compression socks? And what about the full sock vs just calf sleeves? Thanks for any advice:)

I was craving a Slurpee after my half marathon Saturday too!!!! I had the Diet Coke Frost Cherry Slurpee! I added extra cherry Slurpee to the mix too :)
