Brooke running on the treadmill video and the Transcends review.

Shorts?  Every time I happen to wear them lately my legs feel really strange because I have been living in running tights.  Between running in my running tights and then the clean pair that I put on to wear for the rest of the day after I shower, I am always in them.  They are just so warm and so comfortable that I look forward to wearing them 24/7.

7 miles on the good ol’ treadmill while watching the Biggest Loser finale.  I only watched the first few episodes of The BL this season and after everyone was talking about Rachel winning (even though she was underweight) I was interested in watching the finale.

IMG 7689

Now she thinks it is funny to close her eyes for pictures.

I have had the Brooks Transcends for a few months now and I have put over 200 miles on them so far.  I like to really put a lot of miles on a shoe before I review them on the blog.

The truth—>  I went into trying these shoes thinking that I really wouldn’t like them at all because they are so different than what I normally run in (they are heavier and offer more padding than I am used to).  I thought I would only use them for really easy miles.   I was wrong, I really do love them and I have used them for not only easy and long runs but also for a lot of speed work and especially on tempo runs.

The PureProject line is all about the ‘feel running experience’ while the Transcends are all about the ‘FLOAT experience’ and they really do give you that floating feeling.

They are the most cushioned shoe (by 20%) in the Brooks line.  Add the BioMoGo DNA cushioning to the fact that the base of the shoe is super broad and they make it so that you want to wear them all day long because they are so comfortable.  If you are on your feet a lot, these are the shoes to wear not only for running but all around.

The base of the shoe allows pressure to be distributed evenly which I love because they allow you to run the way that your body personally likes to run (not forced to run a certain way because the base is shaped a certain way).  The guide rail in these babies are great at offering your body the support system you need and I feel like they really help to keep my legs aligned properly.  The upper portion of the shoe is also crazy comfortable and plush.

At 10.1 oz they are heavier than my other running shoes but I am easily able to run fast in them and then when I race in racing flats my feet will feel so light after running in these and able to go faster… does that make sense?

DSC 9547

Brooke is still obsessed with what the shoes were mailed in.  The floating/astronaut theme goes perfectly with how the shoes feel.  (PS I only tell you about things on the blog that I really and truly do love… these are one of them.  I don’t mess around when it comes to running shoes).

DSC 9553

There is just something so good about huge salads.  I put in spinach, a baked sweet potato, a chicken breast, steamed carrots and quinoa (I put on an olive oil based dressing after picture) and some blackberries on the side.

IMG 7712

And Brooke’s version of running on the treadmill.  She loves this song.  (The power switch was off on the treadmill so don’t worry, there was no chance of the treadmill turning on while she was on it).

She’s got the basic idea down and just like me she likes to read a book while she runs.

I think we have a future runner on our hands.

By the way, has anyone tried either of the new Oreo flavors yet?!? I think I might have to tonight.

What do you think about the Biggest Loser finale ordeal!?!?

Can anyone fill us in on the new Oreo flavors?  Are you an Oreo fan?

Last time that you wore running shorts?  Do they feel weird to you now too?

Can anyone else read while they run?

I heard great things about the marshmallow Oreos! I love Brooks so I’ve been wanting to try the Transcend even though I’m used to a more minimal shoe, it sounds like it’s working for you so maybe I’ll get to try on a pair soon and hope they work or me!

So, I know a lot of people are in an uproar about Rachel’s weight loss, but it was a competition and she was clearly in it to win it. I’m not saying I don’t think she is too thin, but the point was to win the prize. I only hope that she is healthy and will gain a few pounds to get her onto the healthy weight side.

I’ve never, ever run in shorts because they ride up on me. I’m a capris girl or running tights girl! The only time I wear shorts is to bed or while cycling.

I LOVE oreos! I must try these…i’m especially drawn to the cookie dough ones.

I can’t wait to try these shoes!

I usually watch the Biggest Loser (I love Bob and Jillian), but I didn’t watch it this year.

Biggest Loser – if she is healthy and has confidence in herself, we should all applaud her on this wonderful accomplishment.

We are an Oreo throwback family – double stuff all the way!

All I wear is running shorts, want to try out some of the mens tights though.

That treadmill run by Brooke is one of the cutest videos I have ever seen. I can’t wait until she starts running kiddie races…she will cream the competition!

Oh My Goodness! Brooke running on the treadmill is the cutest thing ever. She has grown up so much! Miss her, miss you!

I used to really dislike running shorts, but I think it was just because I didn’t find a fit/brand that I liked! I recently tried out a pair of Fabletics running shorts for the first time and I LOVE them! I just wore them yesterday for a 5 mile treadmill run at the gym. It was a good thing I wore shorts because it was a HEATER in our gym!

Thanks so much for the 411 on the Brooks Transcends. I may just splurge and buy them because they sound like the running shoe for me. I need lots of cushion and support. Currently I’m running in the Reebok One Cushion, and initially I liked them, but now that I’m upping my mileage for longer runs, my feet end up feeling really achy by about mile 5! Do you think this is because of my shoes?? They’re fairly new and don’t have many miles on them, they’re cushioned well, and have a wide toe box – all things that I typically really like, but my feet still end up hurting by the end. A part of me wonders if it’s my shoes while another part of me just wonders if it’s my feet getting used to running longer distances and I just need to suck it up? Thoughts?

Hi – I’m sorry – I just saw your post and had to comment. I love cushioning in my shoes and used to have the same aching feet problem – Ever since the day I switched to the Brooks’ Glycerins, the ache is gone and so is my PF. I’m currently running in the 11s and I would never go back to my (previously) beloved Asics or Reeboks. The Glycerins might be a shoe you want to check out :)

Thanks so much for your comment, Amy! :)

I don’t watch biggest loser but I keep hearing all the hoopla surrounding her weight loss…I also keep hearing and seeing all about the new oreos but I haven’t bought them – I am totally old school and never like funky flavors that come out, except when oreos came out back in the day with the chocolate filling, that of course I was all about.

Reply

I want to try both oreo flavors. I have to always try the new ones when they come out. Even if I think they will be disgusting.

We discussed the BL ordeal. But I saw again today in an interview how she danced around the eating disorder topic and insists she plans on maintaining this weight. So to everyone who thinks she just lost extra to win and is ‘sure’ we will put it back on (how are they sure?) there is your answer. She wants to maintain!

I wear running shorts when I run on my treadmill at home. So I wore them yesterday. It is way too warm to wear anything else when you are indoors in a small room…..and pregnant. lol.

I can not read while running. I can barely watch a show. I almost fall off every time.

Ross posted a very similar video of Evan dancing to that very song in his IG page. It is hilarious and makes me smile every time I watch it. Perhaps Brooke and Evan shall get married and these clips can make it into their wedding video? ;)

As far as the Biggest Loser, I think it’s a different story when someone is clinically underweight or clinically overweight. By medical standards she is underweight (5’4 and 105 lbs). I think the true test is how she continues after the contest. If she does lose more weight or is she gains the water weight she lost for the show.

People are always too quick to judge. I don’t know, I think Biggest Loser’s sole goal is to see who can lose the most weight. The most, not the most healthy but just the most.

In my personal opinion she probably cut all water and was extremely dehydrated (similar to professional body builders before a stage show). My personal guess is that her normal weight once hydrated will be around 115.

Working with eating disorders, I could talk about this for a long time. I don’t think this is a poor reflection on her but how unhealthy the show truly is.

Anyways that is just my two cents.

That video of Brook made me smile so much! She is too cute :) I have never tried reading a book but I have read magazines on the treadmill with no problem. Also I was looking at the transcends online and they seem to be “stability” shoes. Do you know how those affect people with feet that are “neutral”? I am in the Ghost 6’s right now and they don’t love me, I tried on the PureConnect’s the other day and loved them but it hasn’t been that long since I gotthe Ghost’s. Sigh, my feet are so picky…..

Reply

Brooke is so adorable!

I absolutely cannot read while on the treadmill. It’s hard enough on my spin bike! I just listen to crazy music (like gangam style) to keep me on the belt.

I cannot stop reading articles about Rachel from BL. I watched the whole season, she was my absolute favorite, worked SO hard, did everything right and was such a beast. But then at the finale I was so disappointed. Where were her strong arms?? What happened to being fit? To me, she doesn’t look fit, just skinny, which is portraying the purpose of BL all wrong. I love the show and am interested to see what will happen.

Your running shorts are really cute btw!

Reply

You took the words right out of my mouth regarding Rachel — she was my favorite all season. She looked so strong & healthy at the end of the “on the ranch” portion of the show, but then looked so frail at the finale. :(

Reply

my sister bought my daughter “birthday cake oreos” – they’re almost too good. I’ve been trying to avoid them and it’s not working. Hah!

Your salad looks awesome.

Reply

I love birthday cake Oreos. I have a brownie recipe that has them in the middle. Delicious.

Reply

I think she is competitive and was in it to win it. She will naturally prob gain a few after not working out all the time and resume life. I think people are quick to judge. I’m 5 2 and weigh 105 now that’s after 3 kids and I eat all the time! But I’ve always been small like my mom.
As long as she lost it healthily.
I love the idea of training in a heavierish shoe!
Love how it looks like Brooke’s posing for the photo like she was playing and oh wait moms taking a photo. She’s so cute.

Reply

Brooke is going to be just like her mother – a speedy little runner! I’ve seen the packaging that Brooks has been delivering their shoes in and it definitely puts them at a whole other level of coolness. I watched the Biggest Loser finale and my jaw dropped when I saw Rachel. Hopefully now that the “game” is over, she can bounce back to a healthier weight. Love Oreos (but rarely eat them) and cannot believe they have these new flavors – what will they come up with next!?

Reply

I usually DISLIKE Oreo’s ~ big time ~ however, over the weekend we purchased the Birthday cake flavor and literally could not keep the cookies out of our hands. So scary. (Confession: We bought another package and that one too flew out of the house)

I haven’t seen the other flavors but they look yummy so I will not be buying them….enough is enough.. ha!

Reply

I have yet to find those oreos in a store and I’m really upset about it. I want to try them! I love that gangham style was playing in the background of the video of brooke on the treadmill haha awesome.

As for the BL Finale, I didn’t watch it but I did read a lot of articles about how unhealthy the show really is in promoting dehydration, so I think they really do push those contestants beyond what is healthy. I, like Hollie, will be interested to see what happens in a few weeks after the uproar has calmed down a bit and whether or not she maintains this very thin weight. To me, the scariest part is how fast she lost almost 60% of her body weight. Most sustainable weight loss of that degree happens over years, not just a few months, and it will be interesting to see if there will be long term damage (I hope there isn’t, but it’s a possibility with rapid weight loss).

Reply

Love double stuff Oreos.
Ate ice cream while watching BL finale. Rachel looked too thin to me. People can be that thin, but she looked like some of the bodybuilders when they cut, minus the muscle. Probably very dehydrated.

I was a big Glycerin fan, I think I would like the Transcends too.

Reply

Shut the front door, that video is so freaking cute!!! Love Brookers!! Future speed demon like her mama!

Reply

Well, she is underweight according to bmi standards and that makes me sad. I hope she’s ok! Meanwhile I would live to eat a sleeve of cookie dough Oreos please

Reply

I only watch the Biggest Loser here and there but like you I had watched a few in the beginning and then after all the uproar watched some of the finale. My opinion…yes she looks underweight…but what are we expecting?! I am surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. In the end it is contest to see who can loose the most and the money prize is huge! I feel really bad for her though…first she’s too fat and now too thin and so much media attention :(. I also worry for her because the mentality could be something along the lines of I only have to do this for a few weeks…but eating disorders are scary things to mess with! I have been in the position of “once I get to this weight” and then lowering that number…it can be hard to stop. Part of why I just don’t like the show!

Reply

That is the cutest/sweetest/ most adorable video of Brooke run/dancing on the treadmill….. Awwwwww……..

Reply

Brooke is adorable “running” on the treadmill! I wore running shorts this morning, but it was inside on my bike! ;-) Most winters I can wear capris outside when I run, but this year has been much too cold.

Reply

I wear my Lululemon Wonder Unders allll the time as pants. They’re the best :)

Also, I’ve tried the Marshmallow Oreos and they’re pretty good! A lot like Vanilla Joe Joe’s from Trader Joe’s.

Reply

Just curious what you think of the PureFlow 3s – I wear all Brooks these days and am currently alternating between PureFlow 2s and PureDrifts (which it looks like they may not be bringing back this season?). Just thinking ahead and wondering what my next shoe move should/will be. I love snatching up discount pairs of old models, but I’m curious which shoes from the new line I’ll like the most. I’ve always been interested in trying the PureCadence and PureConnects, too, but haven’t yet. From the product reviews, it looks like people are hating on the PureConnect 3s. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts and/or a comparison of what you’ve tried from the current line. Take care!

Reply

HEY!! So I am not sure yet about this because I really haven’t put very many miles on the 3s. The 2s were my absolute favorite though. Once I put more miles on them then I will totally write a review. Thank you Sarah and I hope you are having a great day!

Reply

She is toooo cute!!! I’m so glad you did a review on the new shoes. Mine should be on my doorstep tomorrow and I cannot wait to try them!!!!!!
As far as Rachel goes, I have watched all season, and I think she was a great contestant, and had a great transformation. However, in my opinion she is too thin. I understand it is a competition, but she doesn’t appear to be a healthy weight. I just wish she can maintain a healthy mind as well as body.
I too have been on the treadmill with our 30 below wind chills, so I had shorts on the other day!

Reply

The video of Brooke running has got to be one of the cutest videos ever! Made me smile.

Reply

I’m currently obsessed with the Birthday Cake Oreos. I hide them in a bottom cupboard in an attempt to forget about them… isn’t working! I really want to try the Cookie Dough!!

Rachel was my favorite all season of BL, and I definitely wanted her to win. I was shocked when she walked out at the finale. I know she’s active and athletic, so I hope she’s healthy, because losing 60% of your body weight is rather extreme. I feel really bad for her, I can’t imagine how hard it has to be for her right now with all of the controversy. She loses weight to better herself, and now she’s called out for being too thin. I’ll be interested to see how or if the producers address this, or if she speaks out in terms of how she continued to lose weight after the ranch.

I’ve always been 100% a Mizuno girl, but I really like your Transcends. I might have to give a pair a try! I run in shorts on the treadmill, but it’s definitely going to feel weird running outside in them again. The high here was 10 degrees today, so I feel like it will never be shorts weather again :(

Reply

LOVE both of the new oreos. The cookie dough one doesn’t taste much like cookie dough though- more of a coffee flavor. I love all sweets though.
Would love to try Brooks because I hear such good things but too expensive for me!
I run in Sauconys; they are my faves in my price range.
I so wish I was coordinated enough to read and run but I can barely manage sending a text. I’ve only been running a little under a year, just a few less than a pro like you ;)

Reply

Oh & I always wear shorts to the gym to avoid heatstroke. A few days ago it was about 50° out so I got to wear shorts on an outside run with friends. The best.

Reply

I so wish I could read while I run! Very jealous of people that can do that!

Brooke is so darn cute!!

Reply

Double stuff Oreos are my weakness and I can’t wait to try the cookie dough ones!

I run in capris. All year round.

I am so jealous of people who can read while they run. I just can’t concentrate on the words while I’m running and end up reading the same part over and over. I wish I could tho…I love to read!

Reply

Went running in shorts yesterday. It was sunny and pretty warm, so it didn’t feel weird. I think it’s funny when NorCal people complain about the cold weather, hehe (because of all the bloggers who live where it actually gets cold).

Reply

I know that a lot of people are saying that it’s a competition and of course she’s in it to win it. But, when does money become more valuable than your health? She was clearly too thin for her body. Regardless of the money (and she still could have won by being 20 pounds heavier which would look perfect on her) she needs to be HEALTHY.

I would love to be able to read while I run. I seem to get sick trying to read while moving. I just can’t do it. It hurts.

Reply

I have such a love/hate relationship with BL. I love watching people own their own lives/feeling empowered – That’s great.

But sometimes it bugs me how the show tries to make it seem like the contestants’ lives are perfect after they lose weight. I remember one finale – I think his name was Daris – they showed his girlfriend and they were like, “Look! Now that he’s lost weight, he has a beautiful girlfriend.” Like, huh? So now that he’s lost weight he’s worthy of a relationship? Sometimes the messages get goofy.

I feel like there is this message out there of “eat food, but don’t LOOK like you eat food.” It makes me really sad – and I think that’s what BL is promoting with her as the new spokesperson for the brand.

Those oreos look AMAZING!!!

Reply

As someone recovering from anorexia myself, thank you. These words are beautiful. <3

Stay Strong :) Good luck in your recovery. Sending you lots of support and encouragement!!

Reply

I just saw these oreos at the store this past week, and they look amazing! I haven’t tried them yet.

Reply

I read on the treadmill all the time. I used to check out the “large print” books from the library because it’s easier to stay focused when you’re running if the print is larger. Now I just use my Nook and “bigger it”. LOL. I have to be entertained while I run.

Reply

i am SO impressed with people who can do anything besides run and try not to pass out when running-especially reading. actually the one that REALLY gets me is when people can be on the phone while they run, i would not be able to do that.

please eat the cookie dough oreos and let us know because they have been calling my name since i’ve seen them. YUM.

Reply

I would like to know how tall Rachel is, its hard to tell on TV. I am barely 5’2 and weighed 105 pounds at my lightest and I would not say that I was too skinny. We have such skewed body images that I don’t think anyone knows what a normal weight is anymore, plus it just seems like another way to keep us talking about the show. Leave the poor girl alone, she looks great and if she is healthy who cares.

I am hunting down those cookie dough Oreos!

Reply

those flavors look much better than the watermelon one this summer.

Reply

I went to the store for the new oreos last night and couldnt find them!! Today is free froyo day at menchies though so I guess we have to wait until tomorrow.

Reply

Great. Now I want some oreos.

Reply

Called the hubs to pick up new Oreos on his way home :). I’m an Oreo addict!

Reply

Those are some seriously smooth dance moves! I know Brooke must keep you entertained all day!

I don’t like Oreos of any kind… I like the cookie parts but I don’t like any of the cremes/fillings.

Reply

My boyfriend tried both of the new Oreos and didn’t like them. I like Oreos but we don’t usually buy them. There are other things we like more. Like ice cream.

I pretty much never wear running shorts, usually just capris or tights if it’s super cold.

I haven’t tried to read while I run in a while, might have to test it out next time I’m on the treadmill.

Reply

I have been staring at those Transcends for a long time (I work at a running store! :)) so not too weird haha. Tomorrow I will be trying them on!
I’m pulled both ways on the whole BL debacle!
I love reading while I run!! I’m so glad I can do it as well!
I wore shorts the other day and I realized how white my leg were! I love my running leggings so much!

Reply

Is this a stability shoe? Right now I wear Saucony Guide 6 which is just a stability shoe (not a motion control shoe). Wondering if this is on par with that? I am a little paranoid to try something new but also would like to!

Reply

Hi Susan! Yes it is a stability shoe with some extra cushioning compared to the Guide. The Guide I would consider a more mild stability shoe, it does not have as much posting (the dense material on the inside of the shoe), meaning you don’t pronate as much. However, the Transcend is a great shoe if you want to try something new. If you go to a running store they would be able to watch you run in the Transcend and let you know if you look okay or if their is too much support. The great thing about Brooks is they also have a 30 day unlimited guarantee so if you don’t like it you can always bring it back to the store to get your money back or go back to the Guide! I hope this helps!

Reply

Thank you Elizabeth. Yes, that does help. It might be too much stability for me. Before I ran in the Guide I was in Saucony Omni. That year found me in a “boot” for 6 months. First a stress fracture and then an ankle ligament tear. The ortho said not to be in a motion controlled shoe so that is when I switched to the Guide. You know the feeling when you want to maybe try something new but you are afraid too because you don’t want to hurt yourself?!? That is me :) Thank you again for taking time to write me back! Happy Friday!

Reply

Awesome! Yeah the Omni and the Transcend are pretty similar, the base is similar but the difference is the most cushion in the transcend compared to the Omni. Happy Friday!

Reply

Thank you again for letting me know. You saved me time (and potential injury) of trying out a shoe that probably is not right for me. I guess for now I will stick with what I am doing! Take care.

Reply

I have got to try those oreos! It’s always weird wearing running shorts after getting used to tights during the winter, plus there’s the whole shaving issue………….

Reply

I’m behind on my blog reading/commenting, but I had to comment on your time post from a few days ago. I was so impressed with the balance you found in sharing your struggles in a helpful but real way. I don’t have anywhere near the online presence you do, but even on my personal facebook page I am never sure how to be real without whining or how to be grateful for the good things in my life (of which there are many) without making other people feel bad by comparison. Anyway, I don’t know how anyone gets it right ever, but good for your for opening yourself up anyway.

When I went through a different kind of loss many years ago, I kept waiting for things to feel easier. For me, the hard stuff never got easier, but somehow life still went on and other good things started to take up room in my life again so that the dark parts are now just a small piece of my life.

I’m really glad you have an amazing family helping you through this time and how great to hear you are feeling like yourself again!

And to end on a happy note, that video of Brooke dancing is the cutest thing EVER. Funny, that’s exactly how I still dance;)

Reply

Get ready looks like you are going to have a runner on your hands!!! SOOOOOO cute! I haven’t tried those cookies…I’m GF but I might have to buy them for the hubs:-) And let’s talk about Rachel…it was a contest, she was in it to win it, she worked hard and won!!! As long as she is strong and healthy than a number is just a number! And running shorts, I’m not a huge fan even when it’s hot, for some reason I love running in running capris!!!!

Reply

I personally think Rachel was smart to get to 105. She’s competing against men who could still be technically “overweight” and have 50% body fat loss. She knew she had to get well over 50%. I guess it comes down to what wouldn’t you do for $250,000? I would definitely be willing to spend a few weeks underweight for that kind of cash! There’s no rules she has to maintain that weight!

Reply

I like to think that if that were true, then she wouldn’t be so shy from the questions about being too skinny. I would just be up front and say that I wanted to win and did the best I could. She keeps saying she’s trying to find balance but never tying that to, oh, well this is my winning weight on BL but I think I’ll need to put on a few more pounds to be really healthy and fit!

Reply

That is the most adorable video! I must confess that I’m not much of a runner (I’m trying though!), so I mostly come here for the Brooke cuteness and to learn about new products like the Oreos. You never fail to deliver :)

I was very quick to judge after seeing the photo of Rachel, but then realized that I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. I just hope that if she’s having eating disorder/addicted to exercise issues that she gets the help she needs.

Reply

Oh the cuteness of Brooke on the treadmill “running”! There is something about that song too. My kids still love it. I dont even want to know what hes saying in it.
Havent tried the oreos but I really want to.
The BL finale was pretty good until Rachel walked out. Bob & jillian’s face said it all. I hope Rachel is only that thin to get the money. But when I look at her I think she is in trouble. Hopefully she will put a little weight back on (dont all the winners usually put weight back on?)but im not so sure she thinks she has a problem. I know I didnt realize I had a problem until my hair started falling out, my teeth were hurting and my gums were receding. Anyway I guess we don’t really know whats going on with her since we dont know her personally but hopefully it just looks worse than it is.

Reply

I think Rachel is hiding something just by the way she is dancing around the subject. Personally, I had no opinion of her being underweight or believing the rumors of having an eating disorder. From someone who has been accused of having one before when really I just never gained weight (wish I had that problem now), I think every body is different. I think it’s concerning how much she lost in such a short period of time and I would not be shocked if she becomes injured here soon.

Brooke’s video on the treadmill is the best!!! She is so cute!

Reply

I haven’t eaten Oreo’s in years. And I’m not a marshmallow fan, so I wouldn’t even consider those ones! I’d try the cookie dough ones though! I typically buy the Newman’s Own “Oreo’s” when I want an Oreo…I’ve never really watched BL, but obviously I’ve heard about this Rachel girl and read some of the news…I just think, man, we LOVE to criticize don’t we?!?! First your too fat, now your too thin. Can ANYONE get ANYTHING right that the rest of the world agrees with?!
I would have to say, first of all, she LOOKS like the size of the rest of Hollywood and we don’t say THEY are too thin….and secondly, if there an eating disorder that came about from this experience, I think it’s more up to the people who are close to her and KNOW her to be the ones to step up and say something – for HER best interest. But you know what, I’d do the same thing to win 250k!! ;)

Reply

I am so not capable of running while reading. I lack coordination and if I am not paying close enough attention to the treadmill I run into the front or veer to the side. This is why I keep one eye on the tv and the other on the treadmill. By the way, that video of Brooke is adorable! Made me laugh.

Reply

I usually bring my Kindle with me on the treadmill and try to read for a bit while I’m going slower for warm-up, but then it’s too bouncy haha. And since I’ve been on the treadmill, I have indeed been wearing shorts a lot. I do love running tights but it is way too snowy/icy to run outside :(

Reply

I bought my nine year old the Cookie Dough Oreos (two of her favorite things put together!) and she loved them. I did not care for the cookie dough.

Those Brooks sound great! I run in the Adrenaline, but the Transcends may be worth trying!

I love BL, and I understand Rachel’s competitiveness and once you start losing weight, you just keep going. But, I think she went too far and I hope someone intervenes and helps her get to a maintain a healthy weight.

Reply

I wish I could run and read, I’m not coordinated enough :(

Reply

That video of Brooke is seriously so cute! I can’t get over it. Monkey see, monkey do! :)

It feels weird to me each time I put on running shorts, which is only a couple times a month lately. I cant wait to be running outside in shorts again! Interesting review of the transcends…I was wondering how those who like the pureflows would like something so different, thanks for sharing!

Reply

I don’t understand why everyone is so surprised by this. The entire show is based on really really unhealthy practices and mindsets, I’m surprised more contestants aren’t affected by eating disorders, honestly.

I love it when you share your meals at home. It gives me ideas! Let us know how the Oreos are. I don’t like normal Oreos but the cookie dough one sounds amazing!!

Thank you for the shoe review! This is helpful. I was wondering if this is a stability shoe? I love the video of Brooke. I wonder if I have ever seen a cuter little girl. I wore shorts to run INSIDE :( today. Don’t run on a treadmill anymore but when I did, I could never do anything but look straight ahead and watch TV. Looking down and reading would have been a disaster!

I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the Transcends! I tried out a pair for a short (<1 mile) run when Brooks was in Chicago to celebrate the city being named the most transcendent city in the US and I really liked them. The cushioning in them is really great and I think they'd be fantastic for runners doing high mileage. Love the video of Brooke on the treadmill–she's going to grow up to be just like her mommy. :)

BL finale: Sad! I think she is too thin, and I was embarrassed for the show. Took away their (the show’s) credibility, that they are a healthy way to lose weight.

Reply

I dont like any of the new oreos i’ve tried because i am obsessed with the candy corn oreos and I want them back now!

If I tried to read while running on the treadmill you’d be reading injury reports instead of race recaps for the next year. I have absolutely no coordination.

Brooke is absolutely adorable. Love the buns you put her hair in, it’s so cute.

I am a fan of The Biggest Loser. I thought Rachel looked great on the last show BEFORE the finale on Monday, she looked very strong and healthy. I feel she did take it too far. 105 lbs is very low regardless of how you are built, age etc. I have 2 teenage daughters and very conscious of what I hope they view as healthy. Rachel clearly looked too thin. It can easily slip over in to an obsession, I hope that’s not the case for her.

Reply

Okay I’m in love with all of your Brooks cute clothes!! Where did you get that adorable bow?

Reply

I honestly didn’t watch the BL finale but like you said now that everyone is talking about it I am kind of interested! I have been wanting to try the rice krispie treat oreos so bad – look forward to hearing what you think!!

Reply

Hey there! I eat sweet potatoes every morning for bkfst with egg whites, cinnamon, peanut butter and honey. So delicious. I cook them in the microwave. How do you cook yours? E

Reply

Awwww Brooke on the treadmill… SO. FREAKIN.CUTE. I have an obsession with big salads too, that one looks tasty!

Reply

Omgosh Janae that is my 18 month old boy’s favorite song!!! It’s an obsession and he wants to hear and watch it constantly. He was recently in the hospital for some major surgery and he would say “styllleee” “style” to all the Drs and nurses. They were all like “what?” and my husband jokingly asked if they could play it during his surgery for him. We try to introduce him to other songs but he wants nothing to do with it! Lol

Super cute video! I can’t even buy oreos anymore….I’m likely to eat the entire bag in a day. :S

That rocket ship delivery must have been real awesome!

Reply

They have a lemon flavor that is amazing!!!!

Reply

What?!? Where I have never seen it. I was just complaining that the west coast girl scouts don’t sell Lemonade’s best cookies and in D.C. I used to be able to buy them. And they are still on the website, what gives?!?! Lemon is my favorite.

Reply

I’ve read very disappointed reviews about the cookie dough Oreos:(
Love that video!

Reply

cookie dough oreo?! tempting :)!

I want to watch that video of Brooke like 10,000 times. It’s just too cute!

Rachel was my favorite BL contestant this season and I was so excited to see her at the finale. I was pulling for her to look beautiful and strong like Dani did last season. I was actually expecting that. I was not expecting what I saw on that stage. I can’t judge her because I don’t know her, but I was kind of sad.

Reply

I want those rice crispy oreo’s, yum!!

I usually wear running skirts, and Oct was the last time, and I froze my buns off doing a 50mile relay.

I’ve always been a fan of the BL. It was a game and the girl was a tough competitor. It’s hard to tell with her loose skin on her arms, but it looks like she’s more cardio and not a lot of weights. I like the new movement towards muscles and adding some curves with squats. But I think it also shows one big problem with the unfairness of the show, not everyone has 50% of their body weight to lose, it may put them underweight, but they need to get there to win. 50% of 304 vs 50% of 225 will give you two different end sizes, and then the work and effort to lose from 304 vs 225 is way greater! That’s why I’ve become a bigger fan of Extreme Weight loss with Chris Powell.

OMG!! That video is the cutest thing ever! It wouldn’t load the first time I tried! But I love it!

Reply

Hahaha, she’s so cute on the treadmill. Almost looks like she’s doing the Gangam Style dance.

I’m putting my thoughts together about the BL finale for a blog post probably tomorrow…
LOVE the transcend! I was supposed to go to a “launch” party for them, but ended up having to work! :( Bummer! LOVE your PureProject shorts! I was able to go the the Pure Project Apparel Unveiling party and that was so much fun!! :) LOVE ALL THE THINGS!!!! ;)

Love the shoe review. I’m a Brooks girl – usually run in the Adrenaline. But your review might push me to spend the $ and try the Transcend. Do you wear the same size in these as you do other Brooks?

Reply

I want to come hang out with Brooke! I was playing with my friend’s baby who was born on the same day as Brooke and I love that age!
I need those Brooks Transcends. I just started my new job as a L&D nurse and I refuse to wear ugly nurse shoes.

Reply

It just seems wrong for oreo to put out the marshmallow crispy flavor because there isn’t any chocolate in it!

Reply

Brooke’s dancing is so cute!

Reply

I think they should make the cookie dough oreos be with vanilla cookies- I would be ALL OVER THAT. That video of brooke on the treadmill is so adorable! :)

Reply

I absolutely love oreos!!! I tried the new flavors yesterday. The cookie dough one was not my favorite, but the marshmallow crispy ones are amazing!!

Reply

Best video ever! I was actually laughing bc it’s so stinkin cute. What a cutie :)

Reply

Love this video of Brooke!!! Unfortunately we don’t have these flavours in the UK so sample them for me!!

Reply

yes i bought two packages of the oreo cookie dough flavor. they were so yummy i only ate one and let my boys eat a couple after they ate their dinner. Glad i bought a second package for another day. Still need to try the marshmellow ones.

Reply

I’ve never had any variety except original of Oreos. It’s a sad day. You always find the neatest flavors!

I did my first track workout the other day and wore shirts….felt great to run in warmer temps but weird not to have multiple layers on!

The Biggest Loser Finale was shocking. She seemed to have gone to far and I do hope that someone sat down with her after the show to determine what happened!

Reply

I’ve been running on the treadmill all week, so I’ve been rocking shorts. It is funny though how cold I get afterwards because our house is kept at freezing temperatures during the day.

Brooke has some killer dance/running moves on the treadmill!

I did watch the BL finale and it truly disturbed me. I watched the show on and off this season and Rachel was extremely inspirational and I wanted her to win, but when she walked out she was truly unrecognizable. I 100% applaud the fact that she was so driven and lost the weight, but she did not even look like the same person. I get that she wanted to win (I mean who wouldn’t, that’s a lot of money), but I think the awkwardness from the trainers and the spectators at the show was the worst. It was just really uncomfortable to watch and it bothered me a lot for some reason.

Haha I wore running shorts yesterday at the gym but I was inside so I was fine! Yeah I definitely feel a little weird wearing them since it’s been so cold out and I most definitely cannot wear them outside!!

Happy Friday!

oh my gosh, Brooke is too adorable!

I think people are all up in arms over nothing with the BL finale. Who knows, perhaps she’s a naturally thin body type, an ectomorph and that is a more normal weight for her. But even if not, the BL is all about losing the most weight you can. And people do that for Bikini competitions (and some of them are unhealthy, where some of them are fine)

Ps. PLEASE tell me you tried the cookie dough Oreos and that they are amazing and when I get to the US they will be the reason for my first grocery shop!

Reply

Too fat or too thin the poor girl can’t win either way. It is a competition to lose weight so I am shocked about the backlash she has been receiving. I’m sure she will put on a few pounds now that she has won and doesn’t have to be so strict! Regardless the show encourages the contestants to lose weight in a very short timeframe which is what we should be talking about!!

Reply

I didnt watch this season of BL but people are forgetting its a COMPETITION–she did it to win 250k. I would too.. but it’ll be interesting to see what she does now.

That video is priceless.

I want to try the new oreo’s but after looking at old pictures of me I’ve decided it’s not in my interest to eat cookies anymore. haha

Reply

I’m really glad you like the Transcends, I’ve been thinking about getting them, I’ve never worn Brooks and have had bad luck with choosing running shoes in the past.

Reply

My husband had a snowday today so I sent him to the store for these. Hopefully he finds them!

Reply

I cannot CANNOT try any different flavor Oreo. It has to be original double stuff’s or nuttin’.

Re: Biggest Loser. I watched most of this year, have not seen finale but am interested to watch. I hate that this poor girl is getting called out for being fat and now is being shamed for being too thin. Are we ever good enough for people? Ugh. I also was a bit disappointed in Bob Harper’s Instagram page when he commented that he would NOT be commenting on her condition as He and Jillian were never her trainers. Way to throw Dolvett under the bus Bob!

Brooke on the treadmill = cutest thing I’ve seen all week. I canNOT read on the treadmill. I can’t even really read texts. It’s just a really bad idea to put a clumsy person (aka me) on a revolving belt of death and ask them to multitask. Good thing I have health insurance.

BROOKE IS SO CUTE!!!!!

Those shoes sound incredible! I want them on my feet now.

I think Rachel is too thin, but she was in it for the win and she got that. Hopefully she has the sense to maintain in a healthy way and put some of that weight back on.

I tried the Cookie Dough one last night, and I’m totally gonna blog about it. Truthfully, I’d say don’t waste your money. The filling is really really sweet, and it tasted sort of weird. If I’m gonna go with an Oreo, I’ll stick to either none, or the Double Stuf if you twist my arm :)

Reply

Will you write a post about which shoes you wear for specific runs (long, speed work, races, etc?)…I have ascis, pure drifts and newtons and want to make sure I’m doing what I should be :)

Reply

I just bought both types of the new Oreos – the cookie dough one tastes a lot like coffee which I found to be really odd??? I love the Marshmallow ones though!

Reply

OMG! I need to try those Oreos ASAP. I love marshmellow AND cookiedough. I hope they come to Canada! Otherwise, I am going on a road trip!

Reply

I think she’s too thin. Losing weight shouldn’t be about winning money. I tried to give myself monetary incentives when I was trying to lose weight, but in the end, I had to do it for health.

I LOVE oreos! They are dairy-free so I can eat them to my heart’s content. I need to see if the new flavors are. My favorite are the Double Decker chocolate ones!

I wore shorts last time I did the elliptical. It felt very weird. I’ve been wearing capris to the gym because I don’t want to hassle with pants on over my shorts.

Nope! It makes me dizzy. I can read on the elliptical and bike, but the treadmill is too bouncing. I want to try to listen to audio books though.

I’ve had a similar experience with my Transcends (actually ran 8 miles in them this morning). I didn’t think I was going to like them at all due to how much heavier they are than what I typically run in (Brooks Pure Cadence). But I really like them. They are super supportive, especially when running on rough terrain — like broken sidewalks and gravel — which I encounter on my regular running routes. They are also really cushioned and I like the way they look. Glad yours are helping you and that you like them. xoxo

I tried the cookie dough Oreos. Didn’t love them but of course nothing in an Oreo is ever bad!

Reply

I honestly was surprised by Rachel’s final weight. I know there was a lot riding on her results so I can see how it might have gotten out of control. I am not making excuses, I think she was too thin, but I can see how that amount of money can make anyone go to extremes to be sure to get that money.

That being said, we are probably done watching. V is 6, I don’t want him to think that is healthy.

Reply

I was beyond disappointed with the BL finale. Rachel should not have been able to get to a weight that would put her underweight. I worry for Rachel’s long term health, but I worry about the millions of women and girls who see her winning and being put on a pedestal for being underweight. I’d like to see NBC deal with the issue, and I hope Rachel puts on some muscle that she clearly lost while she became a cardio junkie at home. 5 pounds of muscle, and she’d be in the same range of pro athletes, and be able to maintain her weight more easily.

Thanks for your awesome review of the transcends. I’ve been looking at them but haven’t tried them on yet :)

Oh my goodness..that is sooooo adorable! She wants to run like Mommy. There is a shirt out there in cyberspace with the slogan “One Day I’ll Run with Mommy.” Seeing this further ensures I will own it one day. :-)

I’ve never tried reading while running, but I doubt it would work for me. I only run on the treadmill for speed work, and it’s always in shorts. I agree…when living in my running tights, it is weird to have my legs exposed after they’ve been in hiding for months. They are so white right now, but I’ll be sporting my running shorts tan again in no time. ;-)

I’ve never been a big fan of Oreos, but it is always interesting to see what they come up with flavor-wise. Since starting clean eating last year, I no longer eat many foods that fall into the processed category. They really have to be worthwhile for me.

I don’t watch the BL, but I saw a picture on FB, and agree that her weight loss was so quick there had to be some muscle loss.

Love that video!! Adorbs!!

Those Oreos sound amazing and dangerous. Must try them!

The video of your daughter is adorable!

I recently invested in the new Brooks Transcend and feel they are the most comfortable shoes I have worn.

Thank you for your review!

Just curious, I see other shoes from Brooks reviewed on your site – I currently run in the pure flow which I like a lot but thinking of something a little cushier for my first marathon in April. So far longest run has been 16.5 miles in the pure flow with no trouble. What do you think about the flows for marathon distance? Wondering if something with more cushion may be better. I’m just trying to finish – not break any records

This drama of going to the movies just does
not end there. Because of this, the world opened its eyes to the realistic view of the KKK
and how blacks were treated during this unsettled time
in history. Violent and explosive action-adventure, mind bending science fiction, and heart wrenching based-on-a-true-story sagas – we’ve got them all.
